To say that Shockwave was put off by the Autobots appearing in the middle instead of in the trees as logic dictated would be correct. The portal opened right in the middle of the clearing and threw Shockwave for a loop. She let the main gun go back on her back (hee hee, pun) and strode towards the team. \u201cExplain the logic behind this attack and your entrance location,\u201d she demanded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think you know the reason behind this attack very well,\u201d growled Ironhide. Shockwave held the surprise for a few seconds, then let it drop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReturning to this planet seems\u2026illogical as well, Corporal Ironhide,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s Master Sergeant to you!\u201d snarled Ironhide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPromoted, I see,\u201d observed Shockwave. \u201cIt would be logical, considering your tenacity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019re under arrest for war crimes, Shockwave,\u201d called Optimus. Shockwave transformed back into tank mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHalting my progress at this stage is highly unwise, young Optimus,\u201d she remarked as her holo-form strode towards them. \u201cMuch of my \u2018war crimes\u2019 resulted in a large number of scientific advances. My work on Space Bridges resulted in the smaller version you\u2019ve used to get here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m going to assume someone told you about us,\u201d muttered Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cProbably Egghead,\u201d guessed Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf you are referring to the fat fool that calls himself a doctor, then yes, Sonic the Hedgehog,\u201d confirmed Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt least we gained enough knowledge to know that the Space Bridge you have there is dangerously unstable!\u201d snapped Ratchet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhich is why you should let me continue construction unimpeded,\u201d replied Shockwave. \u201cHow about a deal, if you help me return to Cybertron, I will surrender all of my research to the Autobots.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou are going back to Cybertron, Shockwave,\u201d hissed Optimus. He then got into a fighting stance, \u201cIn a stasis cell!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOptimus, wait,\u201d called the Specter, \u201cmaybe we should reason with her. One Cybertronian can\u2019t do but so much damage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou don\u2019t know the kind of damage she can do,\u201d countered Ironhide. \u201cShe may keep her promises, but only as long as needed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBesides,\u201d supplied Optimus, \u201cI\u2019m not in the habit of making deals with war criminals.\u201d He turned to Shockwave. \u201cYou\u2019re coming with us, whether you like it or not!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cClearly you Autobots still lack a sense of logic,\u201d remarked Shockwave. \u201cYou\u2019ve heard of my reputation as a powerful fighter as well as a brilliant scientist with only one loss to my name, and yet you still wish to fight me with the odds stacked against you? How illogical.\u201d She transformed and charged at the team. Everyone got out of the way except Optimus, whose vehicle mode and holo-form were knocked aside. The Autobots transformed with Optimus\u2019 optics still spinning until he shook his head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIronhide, you weren\u2019t kidding when you said she was powerful!\u201d he gasped. He jumped to his feet. \u201cOpen fire!\u201d he ordered. The Autobots brought down the laser fire and the Scarlet Specter cast red magic bolt after red magic bolt. Shockwave was not one to let herself get hit, so she got out of the way and managed to knock Ironhide into the ground. She then used an afterimage technique to throw off those that weren\u2019t Cyber-ninjas. She didn\u2019t count on Optimus and Jazz being skilled in Cybertronian martial arts as well. The afterimage is created when a bot goes at speeds that are considered impossible to create an image of itself that seems solid but can\u2019t be struck down. The path can be predicted; it just takes some time. Optimus and Jazz took a few seconds and managed to both give Shockwave an uppercut. Shockwave spun a few times in the air before landing on her hands and getting her feet back on terra firma. \u201cBet you can\u2019t limit your afterimage to limbs!\u201d taunted Optimus. \u2026That was a mistake. Shockwave ran up to Optimus and made an afterimage with her fist, but it struck Optimus in five different places almost instantaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat do you think is the basis for Five Servos of Doom?\u201d remarked Shockwave as Optimus dropped to the ground in pain. She picked up the Prime and tossed him aside like a rag-doll. Tails informed Ratchet that Optimus\u2019 life signs were dwindling, so Ratchet rushed to deliver first aid. His progress was interrupted by a flying Ironhide heading towards him. They were both knocked into each other and then they landed near Optimus. Shockwave picked up Jazz by the leg and used him as a club to knock Bumblebee and Cliffjumper into the growing pile of Autobots. Jazz was dizzy, but not down. He got out a set of blue, glowing, metal nunchaku and whacked Shockwave in the face with it. Shockwave let Jazz go as her hand instinctively went to her face. She was a little dizzy, which allowed Jazz to get another nunchaku. Shockwave shook her head to clear it and focus on her target. She stared at Jazz for a few seconds until she spoke. \u201cYou bring a pair of clubs on wires to a fight,\u201d she observed as she crossed her arms in front of herself. \u201cAn error.\u201d Long blades extended from her wrists. She started swinging her blades and delivered a blow to Jazz that cut into his legs. Jazz dropped to the ground and clutched his knees. Shockwave then tossed him into the rest of the Autobots. She had assumed that the natives of Mobius couldn\u2019t fight back, her error. Sonic spin-dashed the back of her head and gave her a bit of a processor ache. The Scarlet Specter then used her magic to lift rocks out of the ground and toss them towards her face. Shockwave dodged the majority of the rocks, caught a few, and tossed them at the Specter. Shockwave then transformed, charged at the Specter, and managed to knock the wind out of her. Sonic charged at Shockwave who simply backhanded him into the ground. \u201cYour futile attempts at heroism are noted,\u201d mused Shockwave, \u201cbut ultimately useless. I have created a large number of weapons and upgrades in my day. All Autobots fell at my hands. I shall continue building my Space Bridge,\u201d she transformed and leveled her gun arm at the heroes, \u201cafter I take care of eight robo-gnats.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShockwave, wait!\u201d called a voice. It almost sounded like a metallic bass voice. Everyone turned to see something dressed in the robes of her followers. It moved towards the group with mechanical sounds every time the thing took a step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2026can\u2019t be\u2026,\u201d groaned Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, but it is, my loathsome copy,\u201d replied the creature. It pulled back its hood to reveal a robot\u2019s head built like Sonic\u2019s. The robot appeared battered, showing bits of its insides. It originally had five fingers on each hand, but it lost its left hand and had a severely damaged right hand. Its optics were red against a black background. \u201cGreetings, Sonic and Company,\u201d bid the robot. \u201cLong time, no see.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMetal Sonic!\u201d hissed Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne of Eggman\u2019s robots?\u201d asked Jazz. Metal Sonic heard that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy do people say that?! Do I look like of Eggman\u2019s puppets to you?!\u201d he roared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut didn\u2019t he\u2026?\u201d quizzed Sonic before Metal Sonic\u2019s rant interrupted him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI just don\u2019t understand! Don\u2019t compare me to that fat fool!\u201d continued Metal Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy did you stop me?\u201d asked Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou believed that the Autobots came here via a Space Bridge themselves,\u201d guessed Metal Sonic, \u201cand so wanted to terminate them so you could steal the last bit for your Space Bridge without any problems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCorrect,\u201d confirmed Shockwave, finding the conversation refreshing as she was talking to someone who also use logic on a frequent basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m afraid you were misled,\u201d countered Metal Sonic. \u201cThe Autobots came here via some sort of stasis pod. I had the footage taken from G.U.N. when they arrived. I still can\u2019t figure out the reason why.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStasis pods?\u201d quizzed Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSome jack-hole was digging up the resting places of the soldiers that fought in the war,\u201d explained Jazz. \u201cI came here to investigate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt wasn\u2019t through official channels,\u201d supplied Optimus, \u201cbut Jazz already tried that and bureaucracy got in the way. When the Council threatened to give him a court martial, I took a team of Autobots to get an explanation from him. He gave it willingly, without guns, and the Council allowed us to give the fallen warriors proper rites. The portal you saw was the opening for a Ground Bridge instead of a Space Bridge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou have quite a bit of ground to cover if you want to properly bury the dead,\u201d remarked Shockwave. \u201cNo matter. You will have enough time to do so. Instead of killing you here and now, I shall strand you on this planet. You will be restrained so you don\u2019t interfere in my completion of the Space Bridge.\u201d She turned to Metal Sonic. \u201cHowever, there is one bit of unexplained logic. Why tell me this? What do you want in exchange?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want to get off this organic infested mud ball!\u201d snarled Metal Sonic. Shockwave was puzzled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy?\u201d she asked. \u201cWeren\u2019t you built by an organic?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd I hate it!\u201d he snapped. \u201cEggman thinks his chaotic acts will achieve victory. His strategies are the worst possible ones. They\u2019re inefficient, unreliable, and above all, time wasting! I want peace, harmony, efficiency, and the immortality that comes with being a machine. If something breaks, a machine will replace it with ease. Constant change, constant upgrades, constant programs, all of these are the future of this planet, but it can only happen with your people\u2019s technology, not Eggman\u2019s.\u201d Shockwave considered his words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnlike Eggman,\u201d she replied, \u201cyou use facts to successfully sway me. One condition, once you\u2019ve conquered the planet, I want a quiet place on this world for me to conduct my experiments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith your technology,\u201d offered Metal Sonic, \u201cI will bring test subjects from across the universe for you. I know of a good place for scientific achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen we have a deal,\u201d affirmed Shockwave. They were about to shake hands when a strange whirring noise reached their audio receptors. They turned to see the Space Bridge activating. \u201cNo, not now!\u201d wailed Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t even touch anything!\u201d yelped Metal Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, but I did,\u201d said a raspy, growling voice. \u201cTeam Dark, attack!\u201d Team Dark then jumped from behind the Space Bridge controls and charged at Shockwave and Metal Sonic. Shockwave got out of the way and Metal Sonic jumped over them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou intellectual dwarves!\u201d shouted Shockwave. \u201cDo you realize what you\u2019ve just done?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRemoved the power source while turning it on,\u201d remarked Shadow as he managed to fish out the purple Chaos Emerald. \u201cThe energy should destroy the apparatus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShadow,\u201d gulped Optimus, \u201cI have to agree with Shockwave here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat? Why?\u201d quizzed Shadow. He got his answer as the Space Bridge started making its portal. It turned green for a few seconds, then its color turned purple and black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBLACK HOLE!\u201d yelped the Autobots, Sonic, and the Specter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThanks to you,\u201d roared Shockwave over the noise, \u201cwe\u2019ll all die by its intense gravity well!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI would not be too quick in calling the thing a black hole!\u201d shouted Metal Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cElaborate!\u201d demanded Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m detecting energy coming out as well as being sucked in!\u201d answered Metal Sonic. \u201cTo my knowledge, black holes only suck things and energy in!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSomething\u2019s not right here!\u201d realized Shockwave. Metal Sonic turned to Omega and immediately grabbed his shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy don\u2019t you test this thing out for us, defect!\u201d he snarled. He started pushing Omega towards the Space Bridge vortex. Omega turned and started pushing back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll you\u2019re doing,\u201d assured Shockwave, \u201cis testing out whether this is a black hole or an unstable wormhole! Science will salute your sacrifice!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think Omega wants his sacrifice to be saluted by actual life instead of applied mathematics!\u201d called Ratchet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAUTOBOTS! FIRE!\u201d ordered Optimus. The Autobots started emptying their weapons of ammo. Optimus\u2019 gun surprised Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t understand!\u201d she protested. \u201cThat thing is the Cybertronian equivalent of a flintlock! It only has a charge for twenty shots! You must explain how you can fire forty!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s magic! I don\u2019t have to explain it!\u201d called Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat you call magic,\u201d shouted Shockwave, \u201cI call unexplained science!\u201d She started firing on the Autobots. Meanwhile, Omega and Metal Sonic were still grappling with each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy call me defective?\u201d asked Omega. \u201cI have no wounds on my shell, unlike you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd yet, you let organics be your master!\u201d snarled Metal Sonic. \u201cYou blindly follow a meat sack\u2019s orders! How\u2019s that working out for you in the long run?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPretty good, actually!\u201d Omega argued. He gave Metal Sonic an uppercut that made him go up off the ground and start flying to the Space Bridge. Shockwave caught him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI said we would have a joint empire,\u201d she promised, \u201cand I mean what I say!\u201d She was holding onto the controls of the Space Bridge. Optimus saw that opportunity and fired at Shockwave\u2019s hand. Her feet weren\u2019t on solid ground, so she was sucked into the portal with Metal Sonic. The threat of Shockwave and Metal Sonic was over, but there was still the matter of an unstable Space Bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRatchet,\u201d Optimus shouted over the noise, \u201chow do we close this thing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe need to make an explosion in the portal that\u2019s greater than the portal\u2019s energy itself!\u201d answered Ratchet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWould the generator make a big enough explosion?\u201d asked Ironhide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt should!\u201d called Ratchet. \u201cWe just need to time its detonation right!\u201d He then got an idea. \u201cOptimus! Jazz! Ironhide! Get to the generator! Bumblebee! Cliffjumper! Ready your weapons and aim at the portal! Sonic! Miss Specter! Team Dark! Get behind me!\u201d The people got into position. \u201cOptimus, Ironhide, and Jazz, when I say \u2018toss\u2019, throw the generator into the portal! Bumblebee and Cliffjumper, when I say \u2018shoot\u2019, shoot the generator! Everyone got it?\u201d The Autobots confirmed. \u201cAll right, toss!\u201d The Autobots at the generator ripped it out of the ground and threw it at the portal. \u201cShoot!\u201d Bumblebee and Cliffjumper fired. The generator\u2019s explosion tore into the Space Bridge apparatus enough for all the pieces to fly into the portal. All that was left was a small teal orb of light. \u201cHIT THE DECK!\u201d shouted Ratchet. Everyone went as flat as they could on the ground. The orb exploded and gave off a lot of force. It lasted for 10 seconds until the force had died down. Everyone picked themselves up to examine the area. The damage was a ring of flattened trees, battered Autobots, and frazzled Mobians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhooo!\u201d said Optimus weakly as he twirled his arm into the air. He then collapsed onto the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After Tails bridged them back, the Autobots were all in the med-bay. Optimus had a metal torso cast on him, Jazz had a relief pack on his head to relieve the processor ache, Ratchet had a metal cast on his lower arm which allowed him to still do work like putting the head patch on Ironhide, Bumblebee had a metal cast on his right leg, and Cliffjumper had a neck brace. \u201cWell,\u201d mused Optimus, \u201call in all, it could have gone worse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCould have gone worse?!\u201d protested Cliffjumper. \u201cShockwave nearly decapitated me while swinging Jazz around like a club! Then she went all Cyber-ninja on us! I can\u2019t even process how we survived!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t yell,\u201d groaned Jazz as he rubbed his temples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn the plus side,\u201d countered Bumblebee, \u201cShockwave couldn\u2019t have survived the explosion, a lot less to tell the Council, and we don\u2019t need to worry about a Sonic style Ultron.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI believe that\u2019s \u2018score one for the good guys\u2019,\u201d mused the Scarlet Specter. Shadow stepped in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhich I and my superiors are inclined to agree,\u201d he rasped. \u201cWe\u2019re just satisfied that a threat to this planet was taken care of quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI assume G.U.N. has secured the clearing?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd told Shockwave\u2019s followers about what happened,\u201d continued Shadow. \u201cSome believed us, some didn\u2019t, all were evacuated. We have protocols for this sort of thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe government has protocols for dealing with a Decepticon playing god to other people?\u201d asked Ironhide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOf course we do,\u201d remarked Shadow, \u201cwe\u2019re the government. We managed to keep an eye on things for a while. We\u2019re just doing a preliminary sweep to find that Chaos Emerald that was powering the Space Bridge. In the meantime, Team Dark is going to enjoy a nice, long debriefing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell,\u201d chuckled Optimus, \u201chave fun with that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat reminds me,\u201d recalled Shadow, \u201cGeneral Silverwing wants a full report from you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c…Really shouldn\u2019t have run my mouth,\u201d sighed Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLook forward to hearing your report,\u201d smirked Shadow. He then got out the green Chaos Emerald and was about to use Chaos Control until Tails came in looking a little terrified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhoa!\u201d yelped Sonic. \u201cYou okay, little buddy?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo be honest, no,\u201d stammered Tails. \u201cI helped G.U.N. do a sweep of the clearing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t miss anything, did we?\u201d asked Shadow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell,\u201d replied Tails, \u201cto answer that, the Chaos Emerald went into the portal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo we\u2019re down a Chaos Emerald,\u201d sighed Sonic. \u201cAt least it frustrates Eggman\u2019s plans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, Sonic,\u201d argued Tails. \u201cIt went through the portal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat portal was a black hole though,\u201d reminded Optimus. \u201cSonic\u2019s right, we\u2019re down a Chaos Emerald.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, Optimus,\u201d countered Tails, \u201cthat was no black hole.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat?!\u201d yelped Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt was an unstable wormhole, held together by the Emerald\u2019s power,\u201d clarified Tails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen where are Shockwave and Metal Sonic?!\u201d snarled Shadow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2026I\u2019m not sure,\u201d answered Tails. \u201cMy best guess is that they went to an area that\u2019s hidden from our sensors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGreat,\u201d moaned Optimus. \u201cJust peachy! Now we\u2019ve got a psycho Decepticon Femme running around the planet with a robot Sonic on top of Eggman doing some grave robbing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis just gets better and better!\u201d hissed the Scarlet Specter. \u201cI must go. If Shockwave can cause damage to the planet, the other witches of my order must be informed.\u201d She disappeared in red smoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have to go too,\u201d rasped Shadow. \u201cCHAOS CONTROL!\u201d He disappeared in a flash of green light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
