Ratchet was called up to the Space Colony ARK. It had been a week after the fight between the Autobots and Shockwave and endless combing of the planet has yielded no results so far. Optimus decided to learn how Shadow uses his signature chaos move-set, so he practiced on the ARK with the red emerald the Specter gave him on Christmas. Ratchet was on standby for the attempts. Shadow was tinkering with the controls of a machine on the ARK when Ratchet appeared via Warp Ring. \u201cYou bots ready?\u201d asked Shadow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn standby when needed,\u201d reported Ratchet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s do it!\u201d declared Optimus with a grin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSafety fields engaged,\u201d relayed Shadow. \u201cWhenever you\u2019re ready, Optimus.\u201d Optimus had the red Chaos Emerald in his hand and was concentrating on the other end of the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCHAOS CONTROL!\u201d he shouted. Instead of warping to the other side of the room, however, a small orb of yellow light practically threw him to the other side of the room. He crashed into the wall, backside first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOptimus!\u201d shouted Ratchet. \u201cAre you okay?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI feel like a barrel full of fairy kittens!\u201d said Optimus in a loopy tone. Shadow turned the safety shields off as Ratchet helped Optimus back onto his feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the third attempt in a week,\u201d sighed Shadow. \u201cMaybe you aren\u2019t Chaos sensitive and we should abandon this line of research.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m not ready to call it quits yet, dude,\u201d countered Optimus as he massaged his head and recalibrated his gyroscopic systems. \u201cIt took me forever to learn how my magic weapons work and it probably took you the same amount of time to teleport yourself across a room, much less three people across a planet. Speaking of which, have you seen Rouge and Omega? I haven\u2019t seen them since the fight with Shockwave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey\u2019re on a mission in Spagonia,\u201d rasped Shadow. \u201cThe details are classified. I can get a Tech wing there if you need them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust wanted to know where they were, that\u2019s all,\u201d answered Optimus. \u201cBesides, I need the Tech wings working on the new Sky Spy. Those two are like wizards, they\u2019ll appear when the situation calls for it.\u201d He straightened out his back with Ratchet\u2019s help. \u201cAnyways, we need to focus on building new weapons. When Shockwave and Metal Sonic show their mugs again, I want the combined arsenal of the Autobots and G.U.N. at its pinnacle. On that note, any peep from Shockwave or Metal Sonic?\u201d He had asked this to both Shadow and Ratchet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTails and I haven\u2019t found them,\u201d replied Ratchet. \u201cWe\u2019re using another monitoring tactic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cG.U.N. hasn\u2019t found them either,\u201d supplied Shadow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSlag it!\u201d cursed Optimus. \u201cI thought for sure we\u2019d find them if we used Shockwave\u2019s spark signature as a reference. The fact that she\u2019s able to hide it is worrisome enough, but we don\u2019t know the full extent of her or Metal Sonic\u2019s abilities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI hate to say, \u2018I told you so,\u2019 but I told you so,\u201d rasped Shadow. \u201cYou should have just let Shockwave go through the Space Bridge and then destroy it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne,\u201d countered Ratchet, \u201cwe have a Space Bridge platform of our own on Cybertron, deep in Decepticon Central, aka Kaon. She could have hijacked that end and turned it here to send a whole invasion force to take over the planet. Two, Shockwave would have set up defenses to keep us from destroying the one she built on Mobius.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBesides,\u201d remarked Optimus, \u201cif we didn\u2019t meet Shockwave, the N.E.S.T. division wouldn\u2019t have been formed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cConsidering your unique genetics,\u201d remarked Ratchet, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t be surprised if a small remnant of the Black Arms were trying to get into contact with you. It probably isn\u2019t, but I don\u2019t want to run the risk. Let\u2019s do a full check up and see if anything\u2019s out of the ordinary for you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnderstood, but it doesn\u2019t feel like the Black Arms,\u201d replied Shadow. \u201cTheir method of controlling things requires a non-rhythmic sound. This one is rhythmic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHm,\u201d mused Ratchet. \u201cIf it\u2019s rhythmic, it could be mechanical in origin. It might be Shockwave trying something. The fact that you\u2019re able to resist shows that she\u2019s functioning on limited resources. Remind me to mention that at our next conference with G.U.N.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaybe,\u201d growled Shadow, \u201cbut all I hear is the whispering.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBetter for Ratchet to check,\u201d replied Optimus. \u201cThe last time I didn\u2019t listen to a doctor, I ended up being carried away on a stretcher with a neck brace and an I.V.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWait a cycle,\u201d yelped Ratchet, \u201cRed Alert told me about a patient who didn\u2019t just take the I.V.! That was you?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat happened?\u201d asked Shadow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell,\u201d muttered Optimus, \u201cthat was a few years after I became the new Prime. A disgruntled Decepticon didn\u2019t want an Autobot as Prime, so he set up a bomb designed to snuff out my spark. It failed, obviously, but I was pretty banged up. Red Alert was in the area, so she responded quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2018You\u2019re leaking Energon,\u2019 she revealed. \u2018We need to set up an I.V. and get you to a hospital.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNever argue with a medic, they\u2019re above even a Prime whenever first aid is involved,\u201d answered Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExactly,\u201d confirmed Ratchet. \u201cSpeaking of which, your physical eval is up after I look over Shadow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
