After Grimlock left, the Autobots were in a heightened state of alert. The patrols were more frequent, and Optimus had to do a lot of paperwork. He was in his office, looking things over. \u201cSoldier transfers on Cybertron, Elite Guard acceptance letters, new tax codes, weapons sale regulations, deep-sea fishing rights!\u201d he griped. \u201cPrimus, if only Sentinel could see the mountain of peacetime paperwork! He\u2019d be rolling in his grave!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe\u2019s not dead, just retired,\u201d countered Teletraan. \u201cWhoa, hold up! Intruder alert!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhere?!\u201d demanded Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRight behind you,\u201d whispered a voice. Optimus was then hit on the back of the head and knocked out. Grimlock then rifled through Optimus\u2019 subspace pocket and found the weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAutobots, Grimlock is in Optimus\u2019 office!\u201d called Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCorrection, I was!\u201d laughed Grimlock as he teleported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, that\u2019s not gonna save you!\u201d snarled Teletraan. \u201cI studied your transporter field! I know how it scatters your atoms! I found you! Once Optimus is recovered, the Ark<\/em> will blow your ship out of the sky!<\/p>\n\n\n\n When Optimus recovered, Teletraan got the Autobots to the ship\u2019s bridge. \u201cBattle stations!\u201d ordered Optimus. \u201cBe prepared to go to warp! Bumblebee, lay in a pursuit course once the Dyno-bot vessel is found!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPrime, are you sure you don\u2019t want Sonic?\u201d quizzed Ironhide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWith all due respect,\u201d replied Optimus. \u201cSonic and his allies aren\u2019t as durable as us. He and the Scarlet Specter, before she revealed herself as Amy, were ragdolled by Shockwave. This is strictly an Autobot matter!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDyno-bot vessel located!\u201d reported Bumblebee. \u201cReady to pursue!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAre we within communications range?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are,\u201d confirmed Prowl at tactical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHail the enemy vessel, specifically Grimlock!\u201d commanded Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSir, is that really wise?\u201d interjected Prowl. \u201cA Vanguard<\/em> class starship can be stealthy when the crew wants it to be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMaybe,\u201d snarled Optimus, \u201cbut the Captain doesn\u2019t want to be stealthy! I WANT that die-cast dolt to know I\u2019m coming for him! Hail him!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll systems working perfectly,\u201d reported a robot with Apatosaurus parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSlag, did you double check?\u201d asked Grimlock to a bot with Triceratops parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTriple checked, sir,\u201d replied Slag. \u201cSludge made sure all systems worked perfectly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSir,\u201d called Slash, \u201ca vessel is hailing you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMe?\u201d quizzed Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYes, Sir,\u201d confirmed Slash. \u201cBy name.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOn screen,\u201d ordered Grimlock. Optimus\u2019 face came up. \u201cPrime?! How did you find my ship?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHelps when an A.I scans the particle trace of the last time you teleported in my base,\u201d snarled Optimus. \u201cSurrender your vessel immediately or you WILL be fired upon! This is your only warning!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou\u2019re an Autobot,\u201d chuckled Grimlock. \u201cYou only use that threat as a bluff! Slash, cease communi\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey\u2019re firing on us!\u201d called Swoop. The ship rocked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cReport!\u201d boomed Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur port shields have dropped to 50%!\u201d called Swoop. \u201cModulating Shield Nutation!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHave communications ceased?!\u201d growled Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo, just the video,\u201d replied Slash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPut him back on screen!\u201d ordered Grimlock. Optimus\u2019 face came back. \u201cOptimus Prime, this is outrageous!\u201d roared Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI agree,\u201d hissed Optimus, \u201cbut, given that you have kidnapped two bots, I\u2019m left with little choice. I say again, surrender your vessel!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCease transmission!\u201d shouted Grimlock. The call ended. \u201cGet us out of here! We need to reach the Eurythman system before we miss the Zenith!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSir, the Autobot vessel is pursuing us!\u201d called Sludge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cConfirmed,\u201d answered a bot with Stegosaurus parts, Snarl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPunch to warp 5!\u201d ordered Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey\u2019re going to warp!\u201d yelped Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGet above them!\u201d ordered Optimus. \u201cOnce we match their speed, fire the Overshock Sonic battery!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYes, Sir!\u201d obliged Prowl. The Ark<\/em> caught up to the Dyno-bot vessel and got on top of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey\u2019re ignoring up and down!\u201d called Snarl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThen so will our weapons!\u201d declared Grimlock. \u201cPoint all our weapons at their keel!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFiring all weapons at\u2026\u201d Slash couldn\u2019t get very far as she, along with the ship and its crew, lurched three times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat was that?!\u201d demanded Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOvershock Sonic battery!\u201d replied Swoop. \u201cOur shields were taken out in the initial wave, our weapons were drained in the next wave, and our engines went online with the last wave!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMaking us perfect targets for a boarding party!\u201d groaned Grimlock. \u201cDyno-bots, we\u2019re gonna taste our enemy\u2019s innermost Energon! Prepare for battle!\u201d All Dyno-bots got their weapons out, Grimlock with his sword and large gun, Slash with her rotary shield and sword, Snarl with his large club\/cannon hybrid, Swoop with his daggers, Slag with his tricera-mace, and Sludge with his knuckle duster\/blaster hybrids. The ship lurched again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDocking clamps,\u201d explained Swoop. \u201cThe next lurch will be the docking tube.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHow do you know?\u201d asked Sludge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBefore Shockwave took me,\u201d elaborated Swoop, \u201cI helped build the Vanguard<\/em> class ships.\u201d The ship lurched one last time. \u201cThere\u2019s the docking tube, right on schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSteady,\u201d urged Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA three-bot assault team,\u201d muttered Jazz as they prepared to board the Dyno-bot ship. \u201cI don\u2019t need to be Prowl to know what the odds are. History proved the Lightning\u2026the Dyno-bots to be a six-bot group. The odds are two to one against us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYeah, the Dyno-bots are gonna be crying for their mamas!\u201d cheered Ironhide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFocus,\u201d urged Optimus. He then got out his smokestack guns. He used them to cut a hole into the hull. \u201cDefendere!\u201d he chanted as he cast a shield around him and his mechs. \u201cFinally! Looks like visiting Sira a week ago helped!\u201d The hole was made, and laser fire bucketed down on the shield. Optimus and his mechs responded in kind. Grimlock then charged forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDirumpo!\u201d called Grimlock. He shattered Optimus\u2019 shield and grappled with him. Optimus then did an eye-poke. \u201cARGH! I\u2019M NOT A STOOGE!\u201d roared Grimlock. He then punched Optimus in the face, forcing the young Prime to regrow a few dental plates. Optimus and Grimlock then went into their martial arts attacks. Soon, Grimlock got Optimus into a hold. \u201cRestore power to my ship or your career is cut short at a young age!\u201d he snarled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNot until I get Pacemaker and Blade Dancer!\u201d declared Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI don\u2019t have any bots of that name on board!\u201d growled Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh, yes, you do! My weapons!\u201d snapped Optimus as he broke the hold. He then delivered a blow to Grimlock\u2019s helm and disoriented him. He ran through the Dyno-bots\u2019 laser fire, nearly getting zapped in his afterparts by Slash\u2019s eye beams and made a dash for the storage lockers. He soon found them and discovered an array of weapons, Blades, guns, spears, staffs, and other various tools of destruction were hung as if they were trophies. He started glancing around, then clapped optics on his weapons. \u201cThere you are!\u201d he said as he took them. \u201cMan, I missed you guys!\u201d He put them back into his subspace pockets, then noticed a weapon next to where his own stood. It had a gun handle and trigger, but it looked like a blade replaced the barrel. \u201cWasn\u2019t\u2026 this reserved for the military?\u201d mumbled Optimus. He saw an engraving on the handle. \u201cThe House of Scarn,\u201d he muttered. \u201c\u2026Scarn\u2026Legion Scarn! This is my predecessor\u2019s gun!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPut them back!\u201d snarled Grimlock\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDude,\u201d replied Optimus, \u201cthis gun you took is a weapon only designed for military use! Half the weapons here are only for the military\u2019s trigger fingers!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI need them!\u201d insisted Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou\u2019ve got a sword and a gun that can go from one to two to three barrels!\u201d answered Optimus. \u201cThis is a dangerous collection you have here! There are laws against this! A couple of them I passed before I came to Mobius!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHaven\u2019t you wondered why I took them?\u201d asked Grimlock. \u201cThey\u2019re magic weapons. Once the magic is drained off, me and my men will give them back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNow you\u2019re really not getting them back!\u201d snarled Optimus as he leveled his gun at Grimlock\u2019s feet. He fired, but Grimlock jumped aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cKid, I\u2019m warning you, you DON\u2019T want me mad!\u201d growled Grimlock. Optimus fired again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWarning,\u201d called the ship\u2019s computer. \u201cZenith missed. Next Zenith in 12 stellar cycles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat?!\u201d yelped Grimlock. \u201cBut\u2026it\u2019s not…I mean, we weren\u2019t that many light years away!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat Zenith?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Eurythman Magic Zenith!\u201d snarled Grimlock. \u201cIt\u2019s gonna be different in 12 stellar cycles!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI don\u2019t understand!\u201d replied Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThese weapons are worthless now!\u201d shouted Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDanger!\u201d warned Grimlock\u2019s internal computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNow something else is needed to cure us!\u201d roared Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDanger!\u201d Grimlock\u2019s internal computer repeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou glitch-spawn! I\u2019LL KILL YOU!\u201d screamed Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDanger! Danger! Danger! Tyrannosaurus Rex! Beast Mode!\u201d announced Grimlock\u2019s computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBeast mode?\u201d repeated Optimus. Grimlock slammed his hands down as they became feet with large claws. His T-rex head shoulder pads came together above his head as his wings came together to become the torso. His legs came together and folded onto the back, becoming a tail. A robot T-Rex stood in place of Grimlock and it roared in anger. \u201cHE\u2019S A T-REX?!\u201d yelped Optimus. \u201cTHE DYNO-BOTS ARE DINOSAURS!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPrime!\u201d called Jazz over the comms. \u201cThe Dyno-bots just got mad and turned into dinosaurs!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGrimlock too!\u201d replied Optimus. \u201cWe have what we came for! Let\u2019s get out of here! Retreat!\u201d Optimus made a mad dash for the docking tube as it released from the airlock. He let himself get sucked into space as Jazz and Ironhide grabbed his hands. Once they got him in, Ironhide shut the door and the pressure stabilized again. \u201cTeletraan,\u201d wheezed Optimus as he caught his breath, \u201cI trust you did a little poking around in their computer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOptimus, I think you need to see this with Trema and Sira,\u201d mumbled Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI managed to get Grimlock\u2019s logs on his travels,\u201d explained Teletraan as they resumed orbit around Mobius. \u201cWith their own details on magical events, Trema and Sira have cleared some things up.\u201d He then showed one of the logs. Grimlock filled the screen as he spoke. Back then, he wore the Decepticon symbol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMy name is Grimlock Karg,\u201d he introduced. Optimus and Jazz looked at each other with wide eyes at that. \u201cI\u2019m making this log so that, if I die, if I fail the Decepticons, someone can carry on the work for my bots. I was a bruiser, working for Darjaelius.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDarjaelius?\u201d muttered Bumblebee. \u201cThat\u2019s Jhiaxus\u2019 predecessor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSh!\u201d hissed Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut,\u201d continued Grimlock, \u201cwhen Jhiaxus was just recently chosen as Darjaelius\u2019 successor, I was offered an opportunity to become stronger. My entire team was. We were chosen to be given a genetic enhancement by Shockwave. She has a theory that the alt-mode could be altered by tweaking the CNA a little, splicing it with another creature. She found that there are animals on a remote planet. She figured that if our CNA were spliced with theirs, we could get alt-modes based on those animals. I\u2019ll tell you what happened after the procedure\u2019s done on me and my bots. Basically, anytime we give in to our rage, we turn into what the new life forms on this rock call dinosaurs. We\u2019re slaves to our rage. We tried transforming as we did in the past, but it wouldn\u2019t work. We can only transform if we\u2019re angry enough. Swoop, my tech support, managed to make some patches, with what little biomechanics he could understand. Whenever we\u2019re about to lose it, we get little warnings in our heads. If we ignore them three times over, our beast side takes over. Right now, we\u2019re freaks. Magic weapons are needed to lift us from this curse! 100 is the initial price, but I\u2019m not taking any risks. I\u2019m getting more. We have a chance to be normal! Grimlock out!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe goes on to describe various battles with those who owned magic weapons,\u201d explained Teletraan, \u201cyours included.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Eurythman Magic Zenith,\u201d mused Trema. \u201cI haven\u2019t seen that in a long time. It\u2019s a planetary alignment where magic would flow all over the Eurythman system and give more power to the inhabitants, making them feel good. It\u2019s said that paying a certain amount of mana will grant any wish exactly as you want it, regardless of wording.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd there are two prices,\u201d continued Sira. \u201cBecause of the difficulty of predicting the second price of 100 of certain magic implements, most people avoid the Zenith.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhy?\u201d asked Optimus. \u201cWhat\u2019s the first price?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTotal mana drain of a living being,\u201d replied Sira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut, that would kill them!\u201d yelped Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGood to know Grimlock has SOME morals,\u201d muttered Jazz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCan\u2019t he just predict another implement to use?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNot that simple,\u201d countered Sira. \u201cThe algorithm to predict the secondary price would take too long. It only lasts one of Mobius\u2019 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd, by attacking his ship,\u201d muttered Optimus as the reality of the situation hit him, \u201cI\u2019ve just ensured he\u2019s a slave to his rage.\u201d He sank into the Captain\u2019s Chair, running his hands over his face. \u201cPrimus, what have I done? I need to contact him! Apologize!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh, yeah,\u201d remarked Ratchet, \u201cI\u2019m sure an angry mech would be willing to accept an apology from the mech that made him miss his only chance to cure him for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, slaggit!\u201d snapped Optimus. \u201cI gotta do SOMETHING!
