A few days after the giant baby incident, Alexis was talking to Optimus for the bi-weekly progress report. Swoop came in to see Optimus talking to Alexis. \u201cNo, I DON\u2019T need technicians looking over Teletraan,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t you trust me?\u201d asked Alexis as she pursed her lips, gave sad, soulful eyes, and adopted a cutesy pose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI trust YOU just fine,\u201d replied Optimus, not buying the act, \u201cI just don\u2019t trust the technicians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on,\u201d insisted Alexis as she readopted her authoritative manners. \u201cThey\u2019re the most reliable men and women you could meet! They could learn Teletraan\u2019s systems in a minute, fix them, and make them better!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLook, you can vouch for them all you want,\u201d argued Optimus, \u201cbut, they\u2019re not you, so I don\u2019t trust them.\u201d At that point, they heard an \u201cahem\u201d from Swoop. \u201cOh, hey Swoop,\u201d greeted Optimus. \u201cI didn\u2019t know you came in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI just got here,\u201d answered Swoop. \u201cI don\u2019t believe I\u2019ve had the pleasure of meeting the lady with you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, yeah, I almost forgot to introduce you to her,\u201d realized Optimus. \u201cAlexis Silverwing, this is Swoop, Chief Engineer of the Dyno-bots. Swoop, this is Alexis Silverwing, the Autobots\u2019 liaison with Mobius.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy do you have a liaison?\u201d asked Swoop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBecause they\u2019re big, honking robots, like you,\u201d replied Alexis. \u201cWith a fat scientist that uses robots of various sizes to try and conquer the planet, we\u2019re a little antsy around robots that can disguise themselves into various vehicles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOr beasts, given what I am,\u201d muttered Swoop. \u201cWhat was that I heard about technicians?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been going through some problems lately,\u201d explained Teletraan as he made his avatar go up on the main screen. \u201cGround Bridge coordinates keyed in wrong, things appearing on sensors when they\u2019re not real, all that nonsense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe haven\u2019t tried a hard reset yet,\u201d continued Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve backed myself up in case something happens,\u201d supplied Teletraan. \u201cVoice commands only.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTeletraan 1,\u201d ordered Optimus, \u201chard reset, vocal interface. Make it so.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHard reset in progress,\u201d reported Teletraan before the screen went dark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd, you haven\u2019t been able to find out what\u2019s wrong with him?\u201d asked Swoop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, we\u2019ve checked over every system,\u201d answered Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPrime, do you know why Claws calls the Dyno-bots \u2018Master\u2019 or \u2018Mistress\u2019?\u201d quizzed Swoop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cClaws?\u201d muttered Alexis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe A.I. running the Dyno-bots\u2019 ship,\u201d explained Optimus. He then faced Swoop. \u201cTell me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBecause I had to rewrite her completely once,\u201d replied Swoop. \u201cInstill loyalty and obedience down to every scrap of code that she had. Because, the original Claws evolved, got smarter, but didn\u2019t know how to use that intelligence. She could think a billion things in only a few seconds, and there was no one of Claws\u2019 caliber for her to interact with. She went insane, literally. She went completely bonkers and tried to kill us. We almost didn\u2019t get out of there alive. Slag was the one who managed to disable her so I could carefully, painstakingly, reprogram her bit by bit in each line of code so that she would never, EVER, be a threat to us again. I think you guys may want to do the same with Teletraan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOut of the question,\u201d insisted Optimus. \u201cHe\u2019s got ethical subroutines and the ability to cope with problems while following those subroutines. He\u2019s NOT gonna try and hurt us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah?\u201d countered Swoop. \u201cClaws had the same subroutines and that fact didn\u2019t stop her from trying to kill us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m siding with Optimus,\u201d remarked Alexis. \u201cReprogramming him totally is far from what the technicians want. The robots we have, their a.i.\u2019s, they don\u2019t work like that. Yes, they can access incredible processor speed and do that kind of speedy work. But, when they\u2019re not, they think normally. Our military robots never went insane. The Nutzanbolts Tails made are perfectly reasonable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe only issue I have with them,\u201d supplied Optimus, \u201cis that they lightly touch on my Scraplephobia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI must STRONGLY urge you to pull back on Teletraan,\u201d insisted Swoop, \u201cbefore he does something he refuses to regret.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll think about it,\u201d assured Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll right,\u201d sighed Swoop. \u201cNow, I need to speak with Tails. If you\u2019ll pardon me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe\u2019s in the lab, working on something relating to your cure,\u201d relayed Optimus. \u201cIt\u2019s\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTails gave me a tour,\u201d interjected Swoop. \u201cI know the way. But, thank you anyways.\u201d He headed off to the lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHard reset complete,\u201d reported Teletraan as he popped back online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFeeling better?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaybe a little,\u201d muttered Teletraan. \u201cFor all we know, a hard reset was a p-p-p-placebo effect.\u201d Alexis and Optimus looked at each other with popped eyes, then back to Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTeletraan, what the hell was that?\u201d asked Alexis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat the hell was what?\u201d quizzed Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou stuttered,\u201d replied Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI most certainly did not!\u201d protested Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPlay back your own records,\u201d directed Optimus. Teletraan did so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2026can\u2019t account for stuttering,\u201d he gulped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Teletraan,\u201d quizzed Alexis, \u201ccould an outside force be affecting you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaybe,\u201d remarked Teletraan. \u201cI can\u2019t give a definitive answer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBetter schedule a deep diagnostic,\u201d declared Optimus. \u201cTails, Swoop, Ratchet, and the G.U.N. technicians will check you over.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA minute ago, you didn\u2019t trust them,\u201d snarked Alexis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is too big a problem for just the Autobots,\u201d answered Optimus. I\u2019m okay with the best technicians coming here. The BEST, mind you. I want this problem dealt with quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
