\u201cIf you can save the ranting for one minute,\u201d interjected Shockwave, \u201cI presume you failed in retrieving the Ark<\/em>?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWorse than that,\u201d replied Metal Sonic. \u201cOptimus, Swoop, Tails, and Ratchet undid my work! Teletraan\u2019s fanatic about backing himself up and they used the backups as patches for the files I corrupted! With that done, he altered my programming so that I\u2019m trapped in a single form! I\u2019m no longer a hive mind!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWHAT?!\u201d shouted Eggman\u2019s voice over the intercom from Engineering. \u201cBut, with you reduced to a single mind, your relay functions for the Cyber-Eggs are gone! And then\u2026!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMa\u2019am, we can\u2019t keep this up!\u201d called a Male Mobian Rattlesnake in purple robes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe don\u2019t exactly have a choice!\u201d hissed Aleena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMa\u2019am,\u201d replied Wilson, her Hedgehog butler, \u201cMr. Michael is right. Teletraan, if you would be so kind?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt would be my pleasure, Sir,\u201d answered Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTeletraan!\u201d cheered Knuckles. \u201cYou\u2019re all right again!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd I\u2019m the one behind the Cyber-Eggs exploding,\u201d giggled Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCyber-Eggs?\u201d quizzed Shadow. \u201cEggman seriously called them that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd they were using Metal Sonic\u2019s hive mind as a central processor,\u201d continued Teletraan, \u201cStar Trek<\/em> fans would compare that to the Borg. Once I was patched up, I did some reprogramming so Metal Sonic is a single mind instead of a hive. Without his guidance and order-bringing voice, the Cyber-Eggs go insane with the cacophony of voices in their heads, causing their systems to overheat and then\u2026BOOM!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThen, I think it\u2019s best for our mages,\u201d mused Aleena, \u201cto keep the energy globe up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYeah, falling debris from exploding Transformers IS a good motivator,\u201d agreed Sira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMaster Sira?\u201d asked Optimus. \u201cYou organized the mages of Mobius to fight?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis IS our planet,\u201d answered Sira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI think that display of heroism on their part,\u201d remarked Aleena, \u201cmay very well prove that magic can only be used for good.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYour Majesty, what are you getting at?\u201d asked Sira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGrand High Witch Sira,\u201d offered Aleena, \u201chow would you and the rest of the magic community to be finally given the recognition you so richly deserve? That\u2019s very helpful!\u201d snapped Metal. \u201cHas the enemy breached our shields?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNegative,\u201d reported Alchemax. \u201cNo vessel has fired.\u201d Another explosion rocked the ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cInitiating remote connection,\u201d called Shockwave. \u201c\u2026The cloning tanks have been destroyed in the first explosion, caused by the self-destructing Cyber-Eggs! The aborted protoforms are contaminated! Our cloning facility is gone!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd the second?!\u201d asked Metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSame reason. Near Engineering,\u201d answered Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWarning,\u201d called Alchemax. \u201cAttitude control systems are fluctuating.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBypass,\u201d ordered Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUnable to comply,\u201d replied Alchemax. \u201cWarning. Impulse engines are now fluctuating. I can no longer keep the Enigma<\/em> in a stable orbit. Mobius\u2019 gravitational pull is overpowering the ship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGet us away from the planet,\u201d commanded Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cConfirmed,\u201d replied Alchemax. They got away from Mobius at Warp 0.25. The ship was shaking violently. The crew was being tossed around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat\u2019s going on?!\u201d shouted Shockwave as she gripped the Captain\u2019s chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe don\u2019t have complete control over the engines!\u201d answered Metal. \u201cThey\u2019re firing at random propulsion settings from different emitters! Without attitude control, we can\u2019t stabilize anything!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShockwave, what\u2019s going on up there?!\u201d asked a SWATbot on the intercom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cStandby!\u201d ordered Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTrust me, no one\u2019s doing any standing right now!\u201d snarked the SWATbot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEngineering to Bridge!\u201d called Eggman. \u201cWhatever Teletraan did through Metal is starting an overload in the core!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShut it down!\u201d shouted Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf we do that,\u201d argued Eggman, \u201cwe won\u2019t have power to stabilize anything!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd, if we don\u2019t, we explode!\u201d countered Shockwave. \u201cShut the core down now!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cVery well!\u201d sighed Eggman. After a few seconds, Alchemax reported in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPrimary power is offline,\u201d she reported. \u201cEmergency power is now active. Warning, I am unable restore stability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWorking on it!\u201d called Eggman. \u201cI\u2026\u201d the ship stopped rocking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Alchemax, did you fix the engines?\u201d asked Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNegative,\u201d replied Alchemax. \u201cInertial systems have not managed to return to full power. We have stabilized due to entering the gravitational pull of a celestial body. Engines are offline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOnscreen,\u201d ordered Shockwave. The \u201ccelestial body\u201d turned out to be Mobius\u2019 moon. The journey from the planet at that distance took three minutes. They had two minutes left until impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUm, are we supposed to be getting closer?\u201d asked an Egg-pawn on the bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAlchemax, put us into the moon\u2019s orbit,\u201d commanded Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUnable to comply,\u201d reported Alchemax. \u201cEngine power is offline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUse emergency power,\u201d directed Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEmergency power,\u201d replied Alchemax, \u201cis insufficient to break out of the gravitational pull.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEngineering to Bridge!\u201d called Eggman. \u201cThat explosion took out several key circuits with it! The engine core isn\u2019t coming back online!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat the Hell does any of that mean?!\u201d yelped the Egg-pawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWarning,\u201d Alchemax cut in, \u201cthruster control circuits are not responding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt means we\u2019re screwed!\u201d explained Metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAttempting to level our descent,\u201d reported Alchemax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLevel our WHAT?!\u201d screamed the Egg-pawn. \u201cWhat on Mobius is happening?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEr, guys?!\u201d asked the SWATbot. \u201cWhy are we getting closer to the moon?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe no longer have power to the shields!\u201d answered Eggman. \u201cI can\u2019t get anything online down here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAlchemax, disconnect from the Enigma<\/em>\u2019s systems and transfer your core processor to the Bridge,\u201d ordered Shockwave. The screen went dead and Alchemax\u2019s brain popped out of a tube. Shockwave then took a briefcase and opened it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShockwave, what\u2019s going on?!\u201d asked Eggman over her comms. Shockwave switched the call to general broadcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAbandon ship,\u201d she ordered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWHAT?!\u201d shouted Metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll survivors, to the Escape Shuttle,\u201d commanded Shockwave as she put Alchemax\u2019s brain into the briefcase. \u201cThe\u00a0Enigma\u00a0is going to crash. Abandon ship.\u201d Everyone was astonished at what Shockwave commanded. Still, they wanted to live, so the survivors got to the Escape Shuttle. Shockwave performed the pre-flight checks quickly. All systems were good. Since there was no longer any available power to open the hangar doors, Shockwave used the guns on the shuttle to blast open an escape hole. With skill, she used the sudden vacuum of air to her advantage to let the shuttle out. The shuttle broke free of the moon\u2019s gravity and started its hour-long journey. Eggman and Metal looked out the rear window to see the\u00a0Enigma\u00a0bounce on the moon\u2019s surface before sliding to a stop.
