There was a bit of tension back at the Autobot base. After the skirmish, Optimus reported his battle to the Council. They were debating for a long time, leaving the Autobots in a state of worry. Sira and Topaz were talking things over as well. \u201cIn summation,\u201d remarked Topaz, \u201cI just don\u2019t see how we\u2019ll benefit taking the Harbinger<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre you kidding?!\u201d countered Sira. \u201cWith the tech it\u2019s got and your understanding of the Enigma<\/em>\u2019s systems, you could make your own ships!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re simply not ready to go into space,\u201d replied Topaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd I say we are,\u201d argued Sira. \u201cPerhaps our alien visitors will agree?\u201d She turned to Blackarachnia. \u201cWouldn\u2019t you agree? \u2026Miss?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHm?\u201d mumbled Blackarachnia, having been snapped out of her thoughts. \u201cOh, yes, very ready for space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSomething\u2019s on your mind,\u201d observed Topaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, actually,\u201d sighed Blackarachnia. \u201cI just\u2026I don\u2019t know what the Council\u2019s reaction will be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re about to find out,\u201d called Jazz. Optimus came into the Command Center, looking downcast. \u201cSo?\u201d quizzed Jazz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Autobot Councilors have condemned Megatron\u2019s actions,\u201d reported Optimus. \u201cIn response, Straxus and all Decepticon Councilors have retired from the Council Chambers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re pulling out of policy making?\u201d gulped Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWorse than that,\u201d sighed Optimus. \u201cThe majority of the Decepticons have cut off diplomatic ties and have pledged their allegiance to Megatron. The Pax Cybertronia is null and void. The Autobots are, once again, at war with the Decepticons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNO!\u201d roared Ironhide as he punched the wall. \u201cFour million years of pointless bloodshed and we start it all over again!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMobius will do whatever it can to help you end this war quickly,\u201d assured Topaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith all due respect,\u201d countered Ironhide, \u201cwe can\u2019t accept.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy not?\u201d asked Jazz. \u201cThey\u2019ve helped us before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve helped us in threats that affected both them AND us,\u201d argued Prowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve also taken down Decepticons,\u201d hissed Ratchet. \u201cAnd, so help me, if you tell me they only took down Shockwave, I\u2019ll break the Hippocratic Oath and slap you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeven people died on the Harbinger<\/em>,\u201d countered Cliffjumper. \u201cA wizard and a witch, two Mobians, and three humans. They were lucky because the Decepticons were taken by surprise. If they weren\u2019t, I doubt the casualties would be so low. We can\u2019t afford that kind of blood on our hands.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe DO have a duty to protect this planet!\u201d insisted Topaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd the inhabitants,\u201d agreed Sira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt WOULD be beneficial to accept their help,\u201d mused Perceptor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve done fine in secret,\u201d answered Ultra Magnus. \u201cWhy should we drag these people into OUR war?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause we\u2019re NOT robots in disguise on this planet,\u201d replied Blackarachnia. \u201cPeople can identify us in both of our forms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut we run the risk of harming civilians,\u201d argued Bumblebee. \u201cI know I\u2019m young here, but my father was tortured to the end of his days with the guilt of all the civilian casualties at Tyger Pax. We can\u2019t afford that kind of grief.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe also can\u2019t afford to let the Cons harm humans in secret!\u201d snapped Teletraan. \u201cThink about it. What makes you think Megatron will just let people alone WITHOUT our public presence?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPrime, what\u2019s your opinion on this?\u201d asked Topaz. Optimus drew in a breath, then spoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI understand the people that don\u2019t want to involve the natives of this planet,\u201d he began, \u201cbut, the way I see it, they\u2019re already involved. Megatron knows how powerful Mobius is in terms of its military might. He won\u2019t hesitate until Mobius is under his heel. With or without our help, Mobius can\u2019t afford Decepticons on their soil. Besides, with the knowledge they have on us, we can easily beat the Cons. Therefore, we will NOT withdraw from the Non-biological Extraterrestrial Species Treaty. The N.E.S.T alliance is still in effect. Only, we shall share more of our secrets with our allies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd we shall certainly share more of ours,\u201d assured Topaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWould you mind if I add my signature to this treaty?\u201d asked Sira. \u201cWe ALL have a stake in this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI see no reason to refuse your name on the treaty,\u201d replied Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNeither do I,\u201d supplied Topaz. \u201cI will just need to clear this with Her Majesty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOptimus!\u201d protested Ultra Magnus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI went on a journey that showed me that help must be accepted when offered,\u201d countered Optimus. \u201cI cannot, in good conscience, refuse Mobius\u2019 help.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026There\u2019s no changing your mind, is there?\u201d sighed Ultra Magnus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, I\u2019m afraid not,\u201d replied Optimus. \u201cHowever, we must not allow ourselves to be too despondent. There are two pieces of good news. First, the Decepticons on Cybertron have been ordered to wait until Megatron takes care of us, according to our Spy-changers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGood, we can keep the fighting contained here,\u201d mused Ironhide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSecond, there\u2019s a pair of us that need to be rewarded,\u201d observed Optimus. \u201cBumblebee, Cliffjumper, come forward.\u201d Bumblebee and Cliffjumper couldn\u2019t help but feel a little worried as they obeyed, even though Optimus said it was good news. \u201cYou two have been a tremendous help so far,\u201d said Optimus. \u201cSadly, your respective positions limit your abilities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSir, you\u2019re not\u2026!\u201d yelped Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTherefore,\u201d continued Optimus, \u201cit gives me great pleasure to award you higher positions equal in rank.\u201d He then revealed what was in his hands. They were shiny, new badges, different to the ones the two have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut, those are for\u2026!\u201d gasped Cliffjumper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStaff Sergeants,\u201d finished Optimus. \u201cI\u2019m giving you two promotions. Do you accept?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHappily!\u201d cheered the two bots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen, renew your vows as Autobots,\u201d directed Optimus. They crossed their arms and retook the oath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI pledge my undying service to my Prime and the Autobot cause! I shall devote my spark to achieving our goal of galactic peace, even if I must give up my life! I will defend the weak and helpless and remove any threats from the planet that which we protect! \u2019Til All Are One!\u201d They then removed their old badges and allowed Optimus to put the Staff Sergeant badges in their place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCongratulations,\u201d praised Ironhide. \u201cYou two deserve that promotion!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThank you, Sir,\u201d bid Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, your research can get better from here,\u201d chuckled Ultra Magnus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTruth be told, we\u2019ve hit a dead-end,\u201d muttered Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBesides,\u201d continued Cliffjumper, \u201cwe have bigger problems. Scattered though they are, Megatron and his cronies are out there and we have no idea of their next move.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCliff\u2019s right,\u201d sighed Optimus. \u201cWho knows what kind of scheme Megatron\u2019s cooking up!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Megatron wasn\u2019t cooking up any scheme whatsoever. If anything, he was brooding over the events that happened an hour ago. His holo-form leaned against the side of his vehicle mode as he stared through the trees. \u201cI had it,\u201d he ranted. \u201cVictory was right there in my hands. And yet, Optimus\u2019 chaotic nature foiled me! How is it that a child of 154 Earth years can play the long game?! By definition, that\u2019s not an age where patience is a Cybertronian\u2019s strong suit! How did he come up with that plan?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c154 Earth years?\u201d called a voice. \u201cI didn\u2019t think the Matrix would pick a bot so young. How long has he been Prime?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWho\u2019s there?!\u201d demanded Megatron as he transformed, ready to fire his cannon. \u201cShow yourself!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVery well, but you may think me a ghost,\u201d replied the voice. He heard footsteps behind him and aimed his cannon through that area of the forest. He then saw a red light slightly below his eye level. He increased the focus in his optics to get a clearer view on the source of the light. What he saw made him lower his cannon in surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt cannot be!\u201d he whispered. \u201cYou\u2026live?!\u201d There, stepping out of the trees, was Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGreetings, Megatronus,\u201d she bid. \u201cI must admit surprise that you would wear the Decepticon colors. I take it you\u2019re the new Decepticon leader?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCorrect,\u201d confirmed Megatron, \u201cand it\u2019s Megatron.\u201d A grin then appeared on his face. \u201cI must say, your appearance is quite the tactical advantage!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am satisfied you think so, Lord Megatron,\u201d replied Shockwave as she bowed. \u201cI have a base of operations for the Decepticons. I trust you will find them to be suitably Spartan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGive me the coordinates so I can get them to Soundwave,\u201d commanded Megatron. \u201cHe\u2019ll bring the Decepticons there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVery well,\u201d obliged Shockwave. She beamed the coordinates into his head and Megatron opened a private channel to Soundwave, giving him the coordinates and ordering all Decepticons to converge there. Soundwave obeyed and opened a lot of Ground Bridge portals. Megatron and Shockwave stepped through theirs and arrived at Robotropolis. Eggman and Metal Sonic were there to greet them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWelcome to my humble abode!\u201d greeted Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShockwave, who is this?\u201d asked Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s the one who built this city,\u201d explained Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am the brilliant Doctor Julian Ivo Robotnik!\u201d introduced Eggman. \u201cBut, you can call me Dr. Eggman!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAh, yes, you\u2019re that blue rat\u2019s rival,\u201d mused Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSonic is no mere rat,\u201d countered Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe IS a valuable ally to the Autobots,\u201d agreed Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, well, he is a nuisance, I grant you,\u201d muttered Megatron as he massaged the back of his head. More Ground Bridge portals opened up, allowing the Decepticons to enter Robotropolis. \u201cWhat kept you?\u201d hissed Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTraffic was terrible,\u201d joked Soundwave. \u201cDude, you wouldn\u2019t believe how much distance I had to cross to get us all here! I\u2019m running on fumes!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf that were true,\u201d remarked Shockwave, \u201cyou would be in emergency stasis lock.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome on, Shocks, can\u2019t you\u2026\u201d Soundwave stopped asking when he clapped optics on Shockwave. \u201cIt\u2026it can\u2019t be!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShockwave?!\u201d yelped Starscream. All Decepticons were in a similar state of shock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know,\u201d chuckled Megatron, \u201cquite an unexpected turn! Shockwave, I thought you perished at my hand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, as did we all!\u201d stammered Starscream as he took cover behind someone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStop hiding behind me!\u201d snapped Thundercracker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReports of my demise were greatly premature,\u201d answered Shockwave. \u201cA group of Autobots had infiltrated my facility in Washington D.C. in order to stop my space bridge supply line. I gave chase into the vortex but failed to accurately predict the outcome. Megatronus had shot me in the eye.\u201d Megatron twitched at hearing his old name. \u201cI awoke in the rubble briefly enough to replace my eye, but I could not stay out of stasis lock. I allowed myself to slip into stasis once my artificial eye was fully accepted into my systems. I then awoke in an Energon Repair tank of Eggman\u2019s design, disoriented, but fully repaired. It soon became clear I was marooned on this planet with no means of communication. I had frequent encounters with the Autobots and have gained Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic as my allies. Optimus has proven to be a thorn in our side and has started to make himself a thorn in yours, from what we saw an hour ago.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou saw the entire thing?!\u201d snarled Thundercracker. \u201cAnd you didn\u2019t feel the need to help us?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThundercracker, enough,\u201d ordered Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI needed to observe the fight to see how much of a threat Optimus could be,\u201d replied Shockwave. \u201cNow, we know never to underestimate him. However, I am left with a question of my own.\u201d Shockwave advanced on Starscream. \u201cWhy was I abandoned? Left for scrap? Why?\u201d Starscream was terrified but spoke the truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe\u2026the explosion!\u201d squeaked Starscream. \u201cIt collapsed the power core chamber! The last thing we saw was you charging into the space bridge portal! No one saw you come back out!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI find your reply to be\u2026logical,\u201d replied Shockwave. Starscream released a breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut, you will be pleased to know I avenged your seeming demise by personally terminating the Wrecker leader!\u201d he boasted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCareful, Starscream,\u201d sighed Knock-out. \u201cYou may pull a wing strut patting yourself on the back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAh, so YOU were the one who terminated Roadbuster,\u201d mused Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s me!\u201d cheered Starscream. \u201cAnd, as the second-in-command, allow me to welcome you back to the Decepticon fold, Shockwave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd allow me to clarify the new chain of command,\u201d boomed Megatron to all Decepticons. \u201cWhile Starscream will address military matters, Shockwave will oversee any scientific endeavors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, we EACH report directly to you?\u201d quizzed Starscream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAffirmative,\u201d confirmed Megatron. Starscream kept up a polite smile for a few seconds until his scorn overrode his sensibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCompletely logical, My Liege,\u201d he hissed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow then,\u201d said Megatron to Eggman, \u201cmy communications officer requires a work-station.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShockwave prepped one for him right here in the Command Tower,\u201d replied Eggman as he showed a Transformer-sized computer work-station. \u201cEr, which one is your communications officer?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDUDE!\u201d called Soundwave. \u201cThat\u2019s me! The Bodacious Soundwave!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExcellent, Mr. er, Soundwave,\u201d stammered Eggman. Soundwave sat down at the work-station and started playing around with the computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, I can use this part of the database?\u201d he asked. Metal stepped forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAbsolutely not!\u201d he snapped. \u201cThat information is of the highest\u2026!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat Metal means is,\u201d interrupted Eggman, \u201cour entire database is open to you. Feel free to explore it at your leisure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRADICAL!\u201d cheered Soundwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo one says that anymore!\u201d snapped Thundercracker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSadical,\u201d sighed Soundwave. He was about to get to work when the screen glitched out. He tried to find the source when Metal Sonic spoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will not allow these emotional malfunctions to gain access!\u201d he roared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat can you do about it, pipsqueak?\u201d asked Knock-out. \u201cI\u2019m not the best warrior and I CAN take you down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDoubtful,\u201d snarled Metal. \u201cMy superior skills will topple you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSuperior?\u201d repeated Soundwave. \u201cYou, little dude? No, no, Soundwave: superior. Metal Sonic: inferior. Okay?\u201d The fact that he spoke like someone with a superiority complex would do to a non-English speaking foreigner infuriated Metal, so he used his Polarity hands to shove him across the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWHO ARE YOU CALLING INFERIOR?!\u201d he bellowed. \u201cNOBODY WOULD WORK WITH AN UNCHARISMATIC BORE LIKE YOU!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBore?\u201d snarled Soundwave. Rumble then ejected from Soundwave\u2019s backpack in hover-atv mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNO ONE CALLS SOUNDWAVE UNCROSOMATIC!\u201d he said \u201cRUMBLE, TRANSFORM!!\u201d His legs unfolded from the top of the vehicle and the arms folded away from the rear, allowing the head to pop up. He combined his hover generator struts to make a large hammer. \u201cGet ready to crumble before\u2026!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRumble, return,\u201d droned a monotonous voice with a robotic undertone. Rumble turned to see that the back flap of Soundwave\u2019s helmet had retracted into his head and a mouth-plate had been deployed. Soundwave was about to get serious and Rumble decided not to argue. He returned and Soundwave activated cables hidden in his arms to use as whips. Metal tore a chunk of the floor out and tossed at Soundwave. He blocked it using one whip and grabbed Metal with the other. He then mentally commanded it to bring Metal to his face. \u201cSoundwave: superior. Metal Sonic: inferior,\u201d he boasted in that creepy monotone the mouth-plate generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSoundwave! Release him!\u201d roared Megatron. \u201cI do not intend to start a partnership so roughly!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs you command, Megatron,\u201d droned Soundwave. He released Metal Sonic and deactivated his mouth-plate, restoring the back-flap and sitting back down to access the database Eggman had provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet me apologize for Metal\u2019s rudeness,\u201d offered Eggman. \u201cHe\u2019s a bit sore that he lost three times to the Autobots. He holds a grudge worse than me. The only way that he can get rid of that anger, and I will be the first to admit how unhealthy it is, is to lash out at anyone that resembles a Transformer. Rest assured; he will be disciplined.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m glad to hear that,\u201d replied Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWHOA!\u201d called Soundwave. \u201cDudes! We just picked up a mondo huge energy signature!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCan you identify it?\u201d quizzed Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlready did so,\u201d replied Soundwave. \u201cAccording to our host\u2019s files, it belongs to something called a Chaos Emerald.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen a pair of them before,\u201d mused Megatron. \u201cThey\u2019re seven mystical gems that grant their master an enormous surge of power. Optimus has the cyan and yellow Emeralds while Shadow has the green one.\u201d He turned to Eggman. \u201cDoctor, I cannot stress enough how we must get this Emerald to gain any advantage over the Autobots as they have not made any serious study since they cured the Dyno-bots of their\u2026condition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Dyno-bots can transform normally?\u201d inquired Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd they\u2019re on Cybertron to stand trial for all the weapons they stole,\u201d revealed Megatron. \u201cIn any event, we need an Emerald to fully understand it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd all seven will help you put your plans into action!\u201d cheered Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot until we study them,\u201d countered Megatron. \u201cI will not have this one blow up in my face. Shockwave, have you made any study into the Emeralds?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo significant study was made,\u201d reported Shockwave, \u201cbut I\u2019ve made a bit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen it is imperative,\u201d directed Megatron, \u201cthat you make a complete study of the Emeralds. Starscream, you will retrieve the Emerald. Do NOT return empty-handed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t know the meaning of the word,\u201d boasted Starscream, seeing this as a chance to get back into Megatron\u2019s good graces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t that TWO words?\u201d mused Skywarp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPerhaps in Cybertronian,\u201d lectured Thundercracker, \u201cbut not in English. The hyphen makes it a compound word, the operative word being \u2018A\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTell me, Thundercracker,\u201d snarked Starscream, \u201chas writing in English made you forget what you truly are?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy, you screechy, stiletto-wearing\u2026!\u201d snarled Thundercracker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
