\u201cPardon?\u201d quizzed Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOptimus, you have not had a good psychological evaluation,\u201d replied Ratchet. \u201cI have reason to believe that Megatron\u2019s betrayal is affecting your judgement and I\u2019m confining you to base until further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAre you serious?!\u201d snapped Optimus. \u201cIronhide needs me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe needs a level-headed commander and Ultra Magnus is the one for the job,\u201d argued Ratchet. \u201cYou\u2019re staying here until further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Fine,\u201d hissed Optimus, a little angry. He then commed his eldest brother. \u201cUltra Magnus, I need you to accompany Blackarachnia and Bumblebee while they rescue Ironhide from Starscream.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAcknowledged,\u201d called Ultra Magnus. He came to the Command Center in his battle mode. After the odd looks, he explained. \u201cI need to get used to this. Teletraan, Ground Bridge, please.\u201d A Ground Bridge opened and the three headed to Ironhide\u2019s location. Optimus, meanwhile, stayed behind, shaking a bit. At that point, the base\u2019s coms rang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes?\u201d hissed Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey, Prime!\u201d called Knuckles. \u201cJust wanted to know if your gym was open. I need some practice against the Cons.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You know what, it is,\u201d replied Optimus. \u201cYou\u2019re level 7, right?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d confirmed Knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen, let\u2019s get to it,\u201d muttered Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ultra Magnus, Blackarachnia, and Bumblebee arrived to see Ironhide avoiding Starscream\u2019s shots in vehicle mode. Starscream was in his own alt-mode, a fighter jet that wings that could lower themselves for an attack run and guns on the side of the fuselage. His holo-form was a black falcon in pilot\u2019s gear. He kept firing at Ironhide, failing to notice Ultra Magnus leap up and slam his hammer onto his backside. \u201cDION PAX!\u201d bellowed Starscream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s Ultra Magnus now!\u201d corrected Ultra Magnus. \u201cI thought I told you on the Harbinger<\/em>!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou\u2019ll be called scrap when I\u2019m through with you!\u201d boasted Starscream. He tried to get Ultra Magnus off. But he held onto the wings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou know, I never gave the Lambo Twins\u2019 Jet Judo a sporting chance!\u201d mused Ultra Magnus. \u201cWanna try it out?!\u201d He then leaned sharply to the left, causing Starscream to spiral out and make a dive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSTARSCREAM, TRANSFORM!\u201d announced Starscream. The fuselage split in half to let the cockpit fold onto the chest as taloned hands came out. The rear jet assembly split apart and deployed heeled feet while unfolding into legs. His head came out and he started punching at Ultra Magnus. Starscream\u2019s punches, despite his\u2026slender frame, caused some damage. The damage didn\u2019t get Ultra Magnus to let go, so Starscream reached to his back to draw a sword, the signature weapon of the Seekers. He slashed across Ultra Magnus\u2019 front and made him let go, falling to the ground hard. He stayed in the air. \u201cCan\u2019t hit what you wheel-bound morons can\u2019t reach!\u201d he boasted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh, I found a way to bring you down to our level,\u201d chuckled Blackarachnia. She then took out a bottle and shook it to mix the contents. She then put it into the rear of her gun and aimed the gun at Starscream\u2019s sword arm. \u201cFreeze,\u201d she joked. She fired a gas that made the moisture in the air around Starscream\u2019s sword arm come together in a hardened state, making ice form around the arm and weapon. Starscream started plummeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIce\u2026too heavy\u2026for thrusters!\u201d he strained as he tried to get back into the air. \u201cI think I\u2019m gonna crash!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLet little old Ironhide change that from a possibility,\u201d snarled Ironhide as he grabbed the icy arm, \u201cto a CERTAINTY!\u201d He flung Starscream to the ground. Starscream managed to get his blade hot enough by pressing a button on the hilt, then he made a slash that projected an energy wave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Chaos Emerald! Hand it over!\u201d he demanded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNot a chance!\u201d snarled Ironhide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA Chaos Emerald?!\u201d yelped Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI was trying to find some Energon,\u201d explained Ironhide, \u201cwhen I found the red one. Starscream came up behind me and started shooting. I\u2019m not about to let the Cons have it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNeither will we!\u201d agreed Bumblebee. He then rubbed his hands together and slammed his right hand to the ground, generating large crystals that gave off a glowing, blue-white light. Starscream looked around, surprised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLight Energon?\u201d he gulped. He then gave Bumblebee an odd look. \u201cSo, you\u2019re the Energon Alchemist I\u2019ve heard about in the Stockade?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Alchemist of Light, Bumblebee Stinger, at your service!\u201d cheered Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSo, it\u2019s not the red one?\u201d asked Starscream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo, that\u2019s my younger brother, Cliffjumper, the Alchemist of Darkness,\u201d replied Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe\u2019s the dark one?\u201d muttered Starscream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYep, and I command Light Ener\u2026\u201d Starscream cut off Bumblebee\u2019s boasting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut, you\u2019re a runt!\u201d he wailed. Bumblebee let old habits kick in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOH YEAH?! CAN A RUNT DO THIS?!\u201d he screamed as he slammed his hand on the ground and made crystals hoist Starscream by the head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI heard the stories, but I didn\u2019t think they were real!\u201d Starscream managed to say. \u201cThe Alchemist of Light, a little kid!\u201d Not the correct thing to say as Bumblebee slammed his hand to the ground again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDON\u2019T CALL ME LITTLE!!\u201d he shouted as he made a giant crystal fist hit Starscream square in the face hard enough to send him flying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEr, Sergeant,\u201d mumbled Blackarachnia, \u201cI don\u2019t think he was making a reference to your height.\u201d Bumblebee saw sense, temporarily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWELL, EVEN IF HE WASN\u2019T, HE STILL P**SED ME OFF!\u201d he shouted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe cannot allow him to find another Emerald in that direction,\u201d declared Ultra Magnus, \u201chowever slim the risk is. Autobots, with me!\u201d They transformed and followed Starscream\u2019s trajectory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Knuckles and Optimus were taking down an army of training dummies that were decently fighting back. \u201cI never got to tell you about the new base being set up on Angel Island, did I?\u201d asked Knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo,\u201d confirmed Optimus as he punched through a dummy, \u201cI don\u2019t think you did.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere\u2019s a new facility for the Magic Community and G.U.N to work together,\u201d explained Knuckles as he did a flying suplex on his dummy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCan\u2019t wait to see it!\u201d replied Optimus as he punched through a dummy. \u201cI\u2019ll have to visit it once Ratchet clears me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cClears you?\u201d repeated Knuckles as he grabbed a dummy\u2019s leg and used it as a club against another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRatchet believes,\u201d explained Optimus as he clawed at a dummy, \u201cthat my current emotional state will interfere with the war right now!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd, your emotional state is?\u201d asked Knuckles, noticing the ferocity Optimus seemed to be giving to the dummies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSPARK! SHOWERING! ANGER!\u201d Optimus roared as he destroyed a dummy in three hits. \u201cAnd I know why I\u2019m so angry!\u201d he continued as he attacked other dummies. \u201cMy own brother betrayed me! I\u2019ve invited him to parties celebrating the Pax Cybertronia! Asked about his plans for the future! Looked up to him as a symbol of mercy! And what happens? He betrays me! Betrays the Autobots! He\u2019s been falling in with the Decepticons since before I was forged! It\u2019s my job to find these things out! So, what\u2019s my excuse?! Is he a buried Bot that slept through peace?! No! Is he a fat scientist that discovered our biology?! No! Is he an insane wizard?! NO! He\u2019s a veteran who went against us!! AND I DIDN\u2019T! SEE IT! COMING!\u201d He destroyed the last of the dummies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTraining program terminated,\u201d droned the secondary a.i.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019d say that\u2019s good,\u201d mused Knuckles as he wiped the sweat off his brow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGOOD?!\u201d protested Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat you\u2019re taking your anger out on the training dummies instead of the Decepticons,\u201d explained Knuckles. \u201cPrime, I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m saying this, but I agree with Ratchet. You need to let Megatron\u2019s betrayal go. The Autobots need a level-headed leader.\u201d Optimus was still panting from the ferocity of the blows he gave the dummies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ultra Magnus and his team had found Starscream and engaged with him quickly. \u201cGive up, Screamer!\u201d shouted Ironhide. \u201cYou\u2019re running back to your master in failure as usual!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMegatron wants a Chaos Emerald, he gets a Chaos Emerald!\u201d insisted Starscream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cStarscream\u2019s not usually this driven,\u201d mused Ultra Magnus. \u201cSomething\u2019s up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe\u2019ll worry about that later!\u201d snapped Ironhide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou cannot catch me!\u201d boasted Starscream as he transformed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCome back down here, you chicken!\u201d shouted Blackarachnia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m a flacon! Not a chicken!\u201d argued Starscream as he fired. The Bots took cover as the shot revealed a purple glowing thing. The thing turned out to be\u2026 \u201cAnother Emerald!\u201d crowed Starscream. \u201cA two for one deal!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe protect both Emeralds at all costs!\u201d declared Ultra Magnus as he got between Starscream and the Chaos Emerald. Starscream transformed and fired his signature arm-mounted Null Rays, weapons capable of disrupting the electrical flow of machines. For a Transformer, it is very painful. They would need to recalibrate their systems to return to full operations. On the battlefield, no one has that kind of time, unless their opponent was Starscream. As he took Ironhide\u2019s Emerald and the one recently uncovered, he started gloating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh, when fortune smiles on me!\u201d he laughed. \u201cLook at you. Half of you are inexperienced, and the other half are too old to fight! Bring both factors together and what do you get? Ashes! And, as I always say, conquest is made of the ashes of one\u2019s enemies! Oh, how this will get me in Megatron\u2019s good graces! And, as an added bonus, I get to personally slaughter you, Blackarachnia!\u201d He then heard groans. He whirled around to see Ultra Magnus and Ironhide getting up. \u201cThough, it would seem I\u2019m pressed for time,\u201d he sighed, resigning himself to the fact that he couldn\u2019t fix his blunder of letting Blackarachnia live. He then broke into a run and called his current base. \u201cSoundwave, this is Starscream! Unless you want to get a headache from Megatron ranting about a screw-up, you better summon a Ground Bridge, toot sweet!\u201d A portal opened for him and he increased his speed. \u201cCOMING THROUGH!\u201d he called.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSTOP!\u201d shouted Ironhide as he broke into a run. He then tripped over something and Starscream went through the ground bridge. The portal closed and Ironhide roared in frustration. \u201cI WOULD HAVE HAD HIM! WHAT TRIPPED ME UP?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSergeant!\u201d yelped Blackarachnia as they ran up to him. She then saw a glint of something. \u201cWhat in the\u2026?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Starscream landed none too gracefully back in the Command Center. He ended sliding down a wall upside down. As soon as his head was on the floor, he moaned in pain. \u201cNot my more graceful of landings,\u201d he muttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDid you retrieve the Emerald!\u201d demanded Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNot Emerald, Emeralds!\u201d corrected Starscream as he showed the two Chaos Emeralds off. \u201cAnd I\u2019m fine too, thanks for asking.\u201d Megatron snatched them up and held them up to Soundwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDUUUUUUDE! Those are the real dealios!\u201d cheered Soundwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cExcellent!\u201d praised Megatron. \u201cYou have balanced things out today, Starscream. Knock-out, you have a patient.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAt once, Lord Megatron,\u201d confirmed Knock-out. He picked up Starscream and they headed to the repair bay. Megatron handed the Emeralds to Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ll let you pick the control variable,\u201d he mused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI shall get started immediately,\u201d replied Shockwave. She then turned and left the Command Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSoundwave, two more Chaos Emeralds remain in play, the white and blue ones,\u201d remarked Megatron. \u201cWhenever you\u2019re on duty, continue scans for them.
