The Endeavor<\/em> and the High Sky<\/em> had arrived after everyone had exchanged stories. The landing ramps of both ships lowered, although the ramp for the High Sky<\/em> led to the cargo hold. Strongarm and Swoop descended with Lardeth while Arsha led Death, Peach, Usagi I, Amy, Topaz, and Charline down the Endeavor<\/em>\u2019s ramp. Arsha and Lardeth shook hands with the Larkenthas and Enfanti. Swoop and Slash gave a Roman each other handshake before smashing their heads against the other. Hiroki, Death, Charline, and Peach greeted each other warmly. Strongarm gave a report to Ultra Magnus with Topaz helping. Sonic…was tackled by a pink blur. Amy squeezed him tightly. \u201cOh, Sonic!\u201d she squealed happily. \u201cI was so worried I\u2019d never find you! It\u2019s been too long since I\u2019ve seen you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmy,\u201d strained Sonic, \u201cit\u2019s only been an hour! Besides, you went to another planet without me!\u201d He then wiggled out of her grasp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGood heavens, Ms. Rose,\u201d muttered Strongarm. She then noticed a box and stepped towards it. She peered inside to see a human-sized, bird-like, yellow robot stewing in anger, his arms folded. \u201cWell, well, well,\u201d chuckled Strongarm. She then turned to Ultra Magnus. \u201cSir, come over here! Look who I found! Or, rather, the Larkenthas found.\u201d Ultra Magnus came to her and peered inside the box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, if it isn\u2019t Soundwave\u2019s little self-proclaimed artistic spy!\u201d he snorted. \u201cHow\u2019s imprisonment, Buzzsaw? Who died before they put you in there?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnfortunately, no one,\u201d snarled Buzzsaw, his Scots accent on full display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know, I\u2019d say your potential victim was rather lucky,\u201d countered Ultra Magnus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLaugh all you want,\u201d hissed Buzzsaw. \u201cMy bite is worse than my bark! Why don\u2019t you come in here and see if I\u2019m wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think I\u2019ll stay out here and make an attempt to contact my base,\u201d replied Ultra Magnus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd yet, Soundwave\u2019s having trouble finding ours,\u201d chuckled Buzzsaw. Ultra Magnus\u2019 eyebrow went up. \u201cOch, aye, Soundwave\u2019s here, just not in Frigandor. Pit, he told me he heard someone say that he was in Largandra.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Can anyone of you tell me,\u201d called Ultra Magnus, \u201cwhere Largandra is?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s my home,\u201d replied Arsha, \u201cthe Mid-realm\u2019s capital.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBetter hurry, Foxy,\u201d taunted Buzzsaw. \u201cSoundwave is quite the fighter. He may break cover any second now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor your sake,\u201d warned Ultra Magnus, \u201che\u2019d better keep a low profile. He won\u2019t react well to one of his Mini-cons being killed, will he?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a little dark for you, isn\u2019t it, Laddie?\u201d mused Buzzsaw. \u201cTell me, would you want to disappoint your little brother, your Prime, like that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think we\u2019ve heard enough from you,\u201d snarled Delga. \u201cYou know, through Buzzsaw, we\u2019ve learned that you can refine mana into that…er…beverage you drink.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou mean, Energon?\u201d asked Ultra Magnus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s it!\u201d replied Delga. \u201cOne cube of mana makes one cube of Energon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen, our energy needs are met,\u201d mused Ultra Magnus, \u201cbut what about our allies? They can\u2019t run on Energon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen I shall take everyone that is organic to my favorite restaurant here in Frigandor!\u201d declared Delga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChez Glacier?!\u201d cheered Larbuu and Enfanti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe same!\u201d confirmed Delga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m afraid we must sit this out,\u201d answered Ultra Magnus. \u201cWe don\u2019t have suitable vehicle modes to blend in with the crowd here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre you sure?\u201d asked Delga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI must insist,\u201d urged Ultra Magnus. \u201cBesides, we know how Buzzsaw works. We can advise and help out should he decide to break out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Very well,\u201d sighed Delga. \u201cEveryone else, let us partake in Frigandor Cuisine!\u201d He led everyone to a large runic circle and chanted a spell once everyone was inside. Larbuu, Lardeth, Enfanti, Death, and Arsha seemed numb to it, but the others were in awe at the raw power he was tapping into. A light surrounded everyone and covered the world until fading to reveal a street of Frigandor. Hiroki, Amy, Sonic, Topaz, Charline, and Peach were stunned at what happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI take it there are no teleportation circles in your respective universes?\u201d asked Lardeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot the magical kind, no,\u201d admitted Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…You can teleport without magic?!\u201d gasped Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think this lunch will be centered around cultural differences,\u201d mused Enfanti. Delga led everyone to a restaurant with a sign advertising Chez Glacier, the Warmest Spot for Cool Kids in Frigandor. They entered the restaurant and Delga spoke to the Greeter, an Elf woman wearing icy colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTable for 11, please,\u201d requested Delga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll right,\u201d replied the Greeter. \u201cAnd what is your party\u2019s name?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLarkentha,\u201d replied Delga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSplendid!\u201d cheered the Greeter. \u201cIt looks like there\u2019s a table for your party. If you would please follow me.\u201d She led the group to a table. They took their seats as she distributed the menus. \u201cYour servers will be with you in a moment,\u201d assured the Greeter as she resumed her post. The party perused the menu and a few dishes caught their eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cChili dogs? Here?\u201d quizzed Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s an option for multiple people to have the same meal!\u201d observed Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a while since I ate here,\u201d mused Death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStop us if you heard this one,\u201d came a voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, the Grim Reaper and her posse walk into a restaurant,\u201d called another. \u201cThe Reaper then noticed it was quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, she says,\u201d continued the first voice, \u201cI\u2019ve never seen such a dead place!\u201d Everyone turned to see a girl with black, wavy hair adorned with a black flower with a skull in the center and black lipstick over her sheet-white skin accompanied by a small, humanoid creature with a black eye mask set into his skin and two green, clubbed tentacles for hair tied into a ponytail. They were wearing the icy colors of the restaurant\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLacey!\u201d cheered Death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJason!\u201d called Peach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre we glad to see you!\u201d proclaimed Hiroki. \u201cWhat are you doing here?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat would be the Convergence\u2019s doing,\u201d replied the girl. \u201cJason and I were just hanging around After Academy when we vanished and ended up here in Frigandor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter wandering the area,\u201d continued the humanoid creature, \u201cwe got hungry and realized we didn\u2019t have any money, no studs, no turf coins, no dollars, nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot that they would have done any good,\u201d remarked the girl. \u201cNo one\u2019s heard of them. So, we found a job as part-time waitstaff here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, it\u2019s good to see you again!\u201d declared Hiroki. \u201cAmy, Vector, Mr. and Mrs. Larkentha, Ms. Glarosa, Your Highnesses, Commander Topaz, I\u2019d like you to meet Lacey Thanatos,\u201d the girl waved, \u201cand Jason Ikamesh!\u201d the humanoid creature waved. \u201cKamen Riders Apocalypse and Turf respectively!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe boss gave us a chance to reminisce with you guys after we bring you your meals,\u201d cut in Jason. \u201cDo you need any more time to think it over?\u201d The group looked at each other, then shook their heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018What will everyone\u2019s pleasure be?\u201d asked Lacey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll try the House Soup,\u201d replied Death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAn excellent choice!\u201d praised Jason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll just have a steak, as rare as allowed here,\u201d muttered Vector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think Amy and I are gonna have the duo Chili Dogs,\u201d ordered Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLardeth and I,\u201d called Arsha, \u201cwill take the duo Chicken Pot Pie.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMaster, Mistress, and I,\u201d requested Enfanti, \u201cwill have the trio Fettucine Alfredo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll just get the club sandwich,\u201d ordered Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll take the beef stir fry,\u201d declared Charline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think I will try the Beef Stew,\u201d mused Topaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet me have the chicken salad,\u201d finished Peach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWill you want dessert?\u201d asked Jason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI recommend their Lava Cake,\u201d urged Larbuu. \u201cIt is to die for!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen Lava Cakes all around,\u201d declared Death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExcellent!\u201d cheered Lacey. \u201cWe\u2019ll be right back with your orders!\u201d The two then departed as the group chatted amongst themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Back at the Larkenthas\u2019 castle, Strongarm leaned against Buzzsaw\u2019s box and scrolled through a transfer manifest Optimus had drafted before she was put into her current location. Ultra Magnus approached her. \u201cSomething on your mind, Lieutenant?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was gonna give my opinion of the proposed transfers to Optimus before this craziness went down, Sir,\u201d sighed Strongarm. \u201cMaybe you can give me your thoughts?\u201d She handed the pad over to him. He scrolled through the list and widened his optics. The soldiers Optimus was thinking of transferring were called Drift, Sandstorm, Smokescreen, Whirl, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Tracks, Silverbolt, Air Raid, Skydive, Fireflight, Slingshot, and Wheelie. He went in order as he named his grievances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe\u2019s dangerous,\u201d he began. \u201cHe\u2019s delusional. He\u2019s a liar. She\u2019s mad, and I do mean INSANE. He was demoted after that incident with the Turbo-fox. I arrested him for impersonating a senior officer. How either of them were under your or Prowl\u2019s command is a mystery to me. He owes me money. I don\u2019t trust him, or him, or him, or him, or him. Pit, I REALLY don\u2019t trust them in their combined form. And, to finish it all off, if that\u2019s who I think it is, never EVER let that rhymer near a crossbow!\u201d He sighed. \u201cAnd those are the least offensive Autobots. He should have consulted me! I\u2019d have turned away any wayward characters!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMagnus,\u201d called Swoop as he and Slash approached them, \u201cyour definition of a wayward character is an Autobot wearing their badge at an angle.\u201d He tilted his own to demonstrate his point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn direct contravention of the Military Regalia Act!\u201d hissed Ultra Magnus as he readjusted Swoop\u2019s badge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSometimes I wonder how you see the world, buddy,\u201d chuckled Swoop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Back at Chez Glacier, the party was served and Jason and Lacey were granted the right to interact with them. Sonic was regaling them with a tale of when he was roboticized and escaping the Decepticons once he discovered his mind was tampered with. \u201cSo, Bokkun transmitted a speech declaring that he and the rest of the disposed Badniks were fighting against Eggman and the \u2018Cons and revealed that there was a chip with my memories intact,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow could Eggman do that?\u201d asked Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, in my currently roboticized state,\u201d continued Sonic, \u201cI was booking it, and I do mean BOOKING it, to find the Autobots and I was feeling someone coming after me! I couldn\u2019t see the guy, so I only assumed it was Ravage! He then pounced on me and raked his claws across my back saying either I would kill Optimus or Optimus would kill me! I then flung mud into his eyes and stole his gun!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re lying!\u201d laughed Hiroki. \u201cYou\u2019re lying through your teeth!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOf course, I don\u2019t like fighting with guns,\u201d Sonic went on, \u201cso I fired at the tunnel\u2019s ceiling and then REALLY ran for it until I made it outside. I then ran alongside the mountain base and found another cave where my friends were meeting with Bokkun and was ready to let them reinstall my memories. Suddenly, Megatron and his cronies come out of their Ground Bridge and attacked us. I tell you; it was a HUGE fight! Amy managed to get on Megatron\u2019s shoulders and slammed her hammer onto his helmet repeatedly!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s true!\u201d replied Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBokkun had to quickly install my memories,\u201d continued Sonic. \u201cJust when Eggman was about to flatten me, BOOM! I fell back on old tactics and old memories! I was back! Then Megatron tried using the Chaos Emeralds, but didn\u2019t bank on me using them in my roboticized state, so I became Super, then scattered them and made Megatron collapse since he wasn\u2019t used to them. Then, just as things were winding down, Megatron fired at me. Of course, he was too slow, so his shot hit the floor…and the subsequent hidden Energon vein under our feet, so both sides got their Ground Bridges on and we all got back to base where there was a Deroboticizer waiting for me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow that\u2019s a fresh story!\u201d praised Jason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s all it is, a story,\u201d grumbled Larbuu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMistress!\u201d protested Enfanti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no way a machine can convert flesh into steel,\u201d insisted Larbuu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s all true!\u201d argued Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cApparently, she needs proof,\u201d mused Sonic. He took out a watch and fastened it to his wrist before pressing a button. A ring of light travelled up his arm and across his body, replacing skin with steel, fur with chrome, and eyes with optical sensors. Amy gasped in horror. \u201cEasy,\u201d assured Sonic in a robotic undertone. \u201cThis Roboticizer is one that Tails, Swoop, Ratchet, and Perceptor made. No memory-wipe and no overriding desire to serve Eggbreath. They figured it might help with stealth missions. The best thing about this one? It comes with a built-in Deroboticizer.\u201d He pressed the button on his currently metallic wrist and the ring of light passed over him again, returning him to his organic state. \u201cWell?\u201d he asked Larbuu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvidently,\u201d mused Larbuu, conceding she was in the wrong at that point, \u201cyou people have tapped into science we have not yet achieved. I must apologize for doubting you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHey, no worries,\u201d assured Sonic. \u201cNo harm, no foul.\u201d Just then, Delga tapped a button on the table. A small screen popped up in front of him with the bill on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI can pay,\u201d offered Death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh, no, I don\u2019t want to impose,\u201d countered Delga. \u201cBesides, you lot are my guests. It\u2019s my treat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat the?\u201d muttered Charline as she looked at the bill. \u201cIs that bill right? 520 golds?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?!\u201d yelped Delga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s that like in our currency?\u201d asked Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne gold is one American penny,\u201d explained Lacey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…520 pennies?\u201d realized Hiroki. \u201c$5.20?! That\u2019s how much this meal cost us?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAbout 520 rings, if I got the math right,\u201d mused Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSounds like the drinks were added by mistake,\u201d guessed Jason. \u201cIt should have been 494 golds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c$4.94?!\u201d yelped Hiroki<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDelga, do you require money?\u201d asked Lardeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI thought you said this was a high-end restaurant!\u201d quizzed Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is,\u201d confirmed Delga. He then turned to Lardeth. \u201cThat won\u2019t be necessary, Your Highness, but thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cApparently, nobody needs money!\u201d yelped Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d asked Larbuu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTake this restaurant,\u201d began Hiroki. \u201cMy sister\u2019s entire house could fit in here! Look, forgive me if this is a little too personal, but where are the poor people?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…You\u2019re looking at someone who\u2019s poor,\u201d replied Enfanti. \u201cI don\u2019t get a salary as a harem girl. All of my money comes from my detective gig. Even then, I\u2019m only called in when police organizations across the Under-realm have a really hard case to work on, so they rent me out for my skills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen, how can anyone in your profession afford to eat?!\u201d yelped Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy are you so panicked?\u201d asked Enfanti. \u201cThose that aren\u2019t in harems only spend about 30 tins.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s 50 tins to 1 copper, 50 coppers to 1 bronze, 50 bronzes to 1 silver, and 50 silvers to 1 gold,\u201d explained Lacey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAre you telling me,\u201d realized Charline, \u201cthat, if one gold equals one penny and a single tin, your smallest form of currency, is 0.00000016 of a gold, a rent-a-detective can survive on 0.0000048 of a penny?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes,\u201d confirmed Enfanti. \u201cAnd that\u2019s when the \u2018rent-a-detective\u2019 is homeless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYour homeless can afford to eat?!\u201d squeaked Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat holds true within all civilizations in all the Realms,\u201d Arsha cut in. \u201cThe Under-realm is, and I say this with great reluctance, the poorest of all the Realms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd Frigandor\u2019s the poorest area in the Under-realm,\u201d supplied Delga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd there\u2019s a reason why even the poorest of us can afford food,\u201d continued Larbuu. \u201cYour Highnesses, could you take over?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019d be glad to,\u201d replied Lardeth. \u201cThe best way for people to afford anything is for rulers like us to just leave people alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo die in the streets?!\u201d protested Amy. \u201cI\u2019m not one for a lot of government interference, but people need government to…\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWrong way around, Ms. Rose,\u201d interjected Arsha. \u201cGovernment needs misery, and it can create that in abundance. It\u2019s a disease acting like its own cure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re doing SOMETHING right!\u201d argued Hiroki. \u201cI mean, the poorest American is rich compared to the rest of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m willing to bet,\u201d countered Enfanti, \u201cthat the poorest person in Frigandor would be considered rich compared to these \u2018Americans\u2019. Hiroki, it sounds like your government taxes its people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt does,\u201d replied Hiroki. \u201cAll governments do in my world. How else can we pay for the roads, or schools, or…?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the Realms,\u201d Arsha cut in, \u201cthe people just donate one tin, the richer families organize work crews, and BOOM! A new road, a better school, all that good stuff within a week. Us royals NEVER need to tax people. We\u2019re rich enough to not need taxes. Tell me, how long does it take to pay off personal transport?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s considered a lifetime loan,\u201d remarked Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe homeless, if they\u2019re frugal with food,\u201d compared Arsha, \u201ccan pay theirs off in three weeks. How long for a house?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMore people are renting houses,\u201d answered Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI paid my small, private house off about half a year ago over a ten month period, getting me out of homeless status,\u201d answered Enfanti, \u201cand paid off my loan to Delga about a week after that. This meal, believe it or not, is an expensive one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe owner has overhead,\u201d continued Delga. \u201cWe could have eaten the same down the street in copper.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo how come everything\u2019s so cheap?!\u201d protested Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause the governments of all the Realms,\u201d explained Arsha, \u201chave enough people that refuse to allow themselves to become parasites that tax you on half your income, trick you into donating \u00be of that to them, and leave you to squabble over the rest. That\u2019s the defining principle of the Combined Realm Constitution.\u201d At that moment, Arsha and Lardeth\u2019s communicators went off. They pulled them out. \u201cGo ahead,\u201d directed Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
