She was still doing some soul-searching about disbanding the F.N.S. She sat at her desk and ran her hands over her face, trying to get her thoughts together. Right now, her first priority was getting her friends back and getting everyone home. She sighed, as she had been doing during her shower. She just stared off into space, not really paying attention to anything&#8230;until she saw a folded piece of paper with her name written in fancy font and colored gold with black lines. She opened it and noticed trim around the contents of the paper colored in red, blue, purple, pink, and green. Five roses broke up the contents in a circle. Going clock wise, the roses were pink, blue, green, purple, and red. A circle rested in the center of the roses, divided into five and each segment colored the same as the roses. Megumi read the paper aloud to herself. \u201c\u2018Megumi Hishikawa. You are cordially invited to participate in the 590,492<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;<u>Verse Vs. Verse Rumble Royale<\/u>, graciously hosted by the Chizaran Princesses. Declare (with no doubts in your mind) your acceptance and details will be made clear. Congratulations and, should you accept, welcome!\u2019\u201d Confusion crossed her features, causing her to blink. She then pressed a button on her desk. \u201cScorpainia, could you get War here? I need to talk to both of you about something.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An hour later, Megumi heard a knock on her door. \u201cCome in,\u201d she bid. War and Scorpainia then stepped in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMegumi, I am a very busy Anthropomorphic Personification,\u201d grunted War. \u201cI\u2019m trying to gauge how strong Jandro is for a Vampire. What can be so important that&#8230;?\u201d she trailed off. Scorpainia looked at the object causing her to trail off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI got a letter recently,\u201d replied Megumi as she turned the paper to show its contents to the two. \u201cHave you two heard about&#8230;\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTHE VERSE VS. VERSE RUMBLE ROYALE!!\u201d cheered War and Scorpainia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;This is real?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOf course, it\u2019s real!\u201d confirmed War. \u201cI\u2019m surprised you didn\u2019t get the invitation sooner! What are they on, 500,000?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c590,492, according to the invitation,\u201d corrected Megumi. Scorpainia whistled in astonishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe first race in the multiverse really IS outside of all versions of space-time,\u201d she remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCould one of you fill in the gaps?\u201d asked Megumi. \u201cI have no earthly idea what any of this means.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou don\u2019t?!\u201d yelped Scorpainia. \u201cThat surprises me even more!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTrue, not every reality watches it,\u201d mused War, \u201cbut with Richard liking a good sports game on tv, I would think&#8230;\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWHAT IS ALL THIS?!\u201d snapped Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhy not ask the hostesses of this whole thing?\u201d offered War. \u201cSimply hold your invitation and ask for the history of this event.\u201d Megumi rolled her eyes, but complied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI want the history of the Verse Vs. Verse Rumble Royale!\u201d she called. She then yelped in surprise as five lights, going from red, to blue, to pink, to green, and to purple, appeared, then shaped themselves into the Five Women. All five curtsied before introducing themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am Rojenthi, the Red Princess of Chizara, and the war-time leader,\u201d began the woman in red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am Azuliterii, the Blue Princess of Chizara, and the technological leader,\u201d continued the woman in blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am Rosadera, the Pink Princess of Chizara, and the peace-time leader,\u201d introduced the woman in pink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am Verdutha, the Green Princess of Chizara, and the environmental leader,\u201d called the woman in green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd I am Moradelia, the Purple Princess of Chizara, and the history leader,\u201d finished the woman in purple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMoradelia shall explain the history of this great event and I will supply the rules behind this,\u201d explained Rojenthi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen the first universe was born, we, the Chizarans, were born with it,\u201d lectured Moradelia. \u201cOver time, we discovered the secret to godhood. We obtained and still hold everything, powers of a god, immortality, mastery of space and time, worshippers, everything. Unfortunately, we inherited the curse of the gods. We cannot die, nor can we receive injury of any kind. Because we do not have the same gift of mortality as you do, we became bored. That is when Rojenthi discovered that there are other realities that can merge with each other, so she came up with a way for us to admit ignorance in one respect: the interactions of other universes and their representative species. We then developed a tournament and named it the Verse Vs. Verse Rumble Royale.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe invite fighters from many different realities,\u201d continued Rojenthi, \u201cand have them fight over a magnificent prize while broadcasting the whole event to any reality that can see it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSo, wait, it\u2019s a sporting event?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYes,\u201d confirmed Rojenthi. \u201cWe have interviews, bets on the fighters, speculations, everything one associates with a sporting event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEr, quick question,\u201d interjected War. \u201cWhy are you using your lofty voices?\u201d The five Princesses then noticed War and Scorpainia. Rojenthi made a big, fat smile and charged towards War, tackling her into a hug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOH MY GOD, MEGUMI\u2019S FRIENDS WITH TWO PREVIOUS CHAMPIONS!\u201d cheered Rojenthi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWar and Scorpainia,\u201d chuckled Rosadera. \u201cA pleasure to see you again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou know these ladies?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe used to be contestants in the Verse Vs. Verse&#8230;the 3V2R, if you want to save time,\u201d explained War once Rojenthi released her. \u201cI won the 309,001<sup>st<\/sup>&nbsp;and Scorpainia won&#8230; I forget, which one did you win?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe 327,000<sup>th<\/sup>,\u201d revealed Scorpainia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhy would you want to participate?\u201d quizzed Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBecause the prizes are too much to pass up on!\u201d replied War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat ARE the prizes?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re still hammering out what First place will be,\u201d interjected Rojenthi. \u201cSecond and Third, we\u2019ve settled that millennia ago. But, we want our fighters to fight at their best, so we keep them a secret, but not First place. We\u2019ll tell you when you\u2019ve made your decision, I promise you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHow long do I have to decide?\u201d quizzed Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou have until you meet with Arsha Royana and Optimus Prime, the other two competitors,\u201d replied Rosadera. \u201cWe shall meet again.\u201d The Chizaran Princesses then departed in the same flashes of light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCongratulations!\u201d praised Scorpainia. \u201cThis will be a supreme victory!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI haven\u2019t decided yet,\u201d countered Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI would advise you to decide soon,\u201d remarked War. \u201cThis is a great honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;I suppose,\u201d sighed Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Megumi toured Vorton by herself. She wanted to be alone for a while. After walking around, she sat at the observation lounge and stared at the stars. She sighed again, as she had been doing for a while now. She faintly registered heels against the floor, dismissing it until she saw something in the window\u2019s reflection. It looked like a rose with pearls floating in the air. She whirled around to see that it was Jandro\u2019s hairpiece. \u201cI apologize if my lack of reflection disturbed you,\u201d offered Jandro. \u201cMay I?\u201d he indicated that he wanted to sit. Megumi nodded and he sat down. He then observed something. \u201c&#8230;Emmanuel removed the shock factor of seeing a man dressing as a woman,\u201d he guessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe removed a good chunk of it,\u201d replied Megumi. \u201cLiving at After Academy for five years took care of the rest. I\u2019ve yet to see any Vampire students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTell me, have you heard of Vampires that sparkle in the daylight?\u201d asked Jandro, looking a little concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2019s an entire franchise around the concept,\u201d answered Megumi. Jandro shuddered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn my world, we don\u2019t do that!\u201d he finally got out. \u201cHowever, neither do we fry in sunlight. That\u2019s long been cured and is usually reserved as a death sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI see,\u201d mumbled Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;You look like you have a lot on your mind,\u201d observed Jandro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m considering disbanding my group,\u201d explained Megumi. \u201cTell me, have you ever thought about a group breakup?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;I\u2019m not sure the \u2018breakup\u2019 I\u2019m thinking of should even be considered that,\u201d sighed Jandro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think I remember Malnar giving me cryptic remarks that you can argue against breaking up the F.N.S and leaving Vorton alone,\u201d mused Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cProbably referencing my status as the last of a Great Vampire Clan,\u201d replied Jandro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;Last of a Great Vampire Clan?\u201d repeated Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDuring the First Age of Unity,\u201d began Jandro, \u201cmy clan, the Grelnak clan, had allowed people like me to come out. All sorts of rights now celebrated in my world\u2019s modern age and it was my clan that started it all&#8230;at the cost of everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;You\u2019re the only member of the Grelnak clan alive?\u201d realized Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd I have no way to return home, not since I left my clan\u2019s lands,\u201d sighed Jandro. \u201cWith no sense of community, you never feel like you belong. I tell you now, disbanding your group will rob every one of their sense of community and Vorton will feel like a strange place instead of home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut there\u2019s nothing new going on,\u201d argued Megumi. \u201cWhat use is there for us to stay?\u201d Just then, a klaxon blared. \u201cNow what?!\u201d snarled Megumi. She then got up. \u201cExcuse me,\u201d she bid as she headed to the Gateway Room. Rusty explained the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSensors detected a small craft and have deemed it to be of Shocker Rift design,\u201d she reported. \u201cThe weapons started firing automatically. The pilot\u2019s trying to contact us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSomeone we know?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA Transformer of&nbsp;<em>Beast Wars<\/em>,\u201d answered Rusty. \u201cThe Predacon, Tarantulas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s with Shocker Rift?\u201d muttered Megumi. \u201cOn screen.\u201d Tarantulas\u2019 Transmetal body was sitting in a pilot\u2019s chair, rocked by weapons fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMegumi, I must protest this treatment!\u201d he spluttered. \u201cIt\u2019s making me feel unwelcome! Besides, don\u2019t you need more information on how to locate your allies or about Shocker Rift\u2019s current internal instability?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;Cease fire,\u201d ordered Megumi. \u201cI want to hear him out.\u201d Rusty arched an eyebrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;I obey,\u201d she muttered before shutting off the weapons. Tarantulas mopped his metallic brow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s better,\u201d he sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou mentioned an instability within Shocker Rift,\u201d recalled Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIndeed,\u201d confirmed Tarantulas. \u201cThe Daleks are becoming more and more angry at being enslaved to life-forms they consider inferior and Emperor Davros is looking into solutions to escape Shocker Rift. We all know that, when they do escape, the Daleks will start their bloodiest campaign and will most likely tear the multiverse asunder!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDoes this mean you\u2019ve turned your back on Shocker Rift?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt means,\u201d elaborated Tarantulas, \u201cthat, as my universe would be under fire as well, I need to find the ones best suited to repair any damage!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn other words, you figured that staying with Shocker Rift will only cause you more harm than good,\u201d replied Megumi, \u201cand decided to get out while the getting\u2019s good.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt seemed like a good idea at the time,\u201d muttered Tarantulas. Megumi considered, then decided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cClear him for Airlock 3,\u201d she commanded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis IS Tarantulas!\u201d protested Rusty. \u201cYou know, the one who made Shelob into a Predacon?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cExactly, but we need whatever information we can get,\u201d replied Megumi. \u201cLet him onboard.\u201d Rusty sighed before assigning Tarantulas a flight path. \u201cRusty, do you mind getting Batman to authenticate whatever data Tarantulas brings and could you have Emily help you scan his processor for the truth?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&#8230;Delighted,\u201d answered Rusty with a grin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNot that I don\u2019t appreciate the concern for my well-being,\u201d hissed Tarantulas as Emily and Rusty set up equipment, \u201cbut I MUST speak to Megumi. Besides, I\u2019m not sure as I feel comfortable with being in the same room with someone that threatened to shove raw Energon into my Spark five years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis will only take a moment,\u201d dismissed Emily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat is the meaning of this, Ms. Saunders?\u201d asked Tarantulas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMental screening,\u201d answered Emily in a terse manner, \u201cand it\u2019s Mrs. Williams to you! Or Dr. Williams if you prefer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI assure you; I\u2019m not lying about what\u2019s going on in Shocker Rift!\u201d spluttered Tarantulas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen you don\u2019t object to me checking as you clearly have nothing to hide,\u201d snarked Emily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI find this whole thing offensive!\u201d snarled Tarantulas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd I find YOU offensive!\u201d growled Emily. \u201cNow, will you just willingly allow me access to your processor or do I have to have the Brigadier hold you down while I force my way in?!\u201d Tarantulas and Emily glared at one another before the gem on his forehead opened to allow her access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe may refuse,\u201d mused Moradelia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe may,\u201d conceded Rosadera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t think she will,\u201d argued Rojenthi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh?\u201d quizzed Azuliterii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe is simply in a rut,\u201d explained Rojenthi. \u201cShe loves trying something different and seeing something new. This tournament will reignite her passion for exploring other possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe feels as if she\u2019s explored everything,\u201d realized Verdutha. \u201cShe\u2019s becoming as bored as we were.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, this will change her mind,\u201d declared Rosadera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThree&#8230;years!\u201d hissed a blonde woman. \u201c&#8230;Three years! Three years, I\u2019ve been stuck in my former prison! Three years, I haven\u2019t exterminated anyone! Three years of absolutely nothing and I\u2019m still in my old cage!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s all part of bringing Vortech down for good, Metaltron,\u201d remarked her compatriot, a humanoid cyclops with tentacles for hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI thought he\u2019d do something by now!\u201d griped the woman, the former last of the Daleks stuck looking like Rose Tyler, Metaltron. \u201cInstead, we\u2019ve been playing the waiting game for too long!\u201d Just then, the console beeped. \u201cPlease, Caan, tell me that\u2019s something!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJust an ally reporting nothing,\u201d replied the last of the Cult of Skaro, Caan. Metaltron roared and threw a table across the room. \u201cYes, acting childish will get results faster,\u201d sighed Caan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m going topside!\u201d roared Metaltron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStay where you are!\u201d barked Caan. \u201cKeep a lid on your killing instinct!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve done nothing since this all started!\u201d argued Metaltron. \u201cEvery cell in this twisted frame is still screaming \u2018exterminate, annihilate, destroy\u2019! I must obey that impulse!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI said no!\u201d roared Caan. \u201cWe cannot expose ourselves by killing anyone! That will attract the Doctor\u2019s attention and I\u2019m not willing to risk it! Besides, she\u2019s busy with a reconnaissance Dalek at this point in time!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen what can we do?!\u201d wailed Metaltron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe wait until our allies are exposed,\u201d replied Caan. \u201cThat will happen soon.\u201d Metaltron roared again before storming off to Van Statten\u2019s old office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Megumi had come out of the shower and changed into a bathrobe.
