She would never wish the kind of hell Hiro\u2019s going through onto anyone. She looked out the window for a bit until the door chimed. \u201cCome in,\u201d she bid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThinking about Hiro?\u201d guessed her husband\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019d never wish for anyone\u2019s children to die in the womb,\u201d replied Megumi as she got up so she could sit in Richard\u2019s lap. She wiggled a little to sit comfortably while Richard wrapped his arms around her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c…How do you want to proceed with him?\u201d asked Richard. \u201cWe can\u2019t keep him in the brig forever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe wants to bury Igura in their home universe,\u201d answered Megumi. \u201cAfter which, I don\u2019t know. I know he has to go to trial for his crimes, but does he need that now?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI can\u2019t answer that with any measure of authority,\u201d sighed Richard. They both just sat there, content to look at the stars surrounding Vorton. The door chimed again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWho could that be?\u201d muttered Megumi. \u201cCome in!\u201d The door opened to reveal Moradelia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m not interrupting, am I?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot at all,\u201d replied Megumi. \u201cPlease, come in. What can I do for you? …Wait, why didn\u2019t you appear as you usually do?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI heard about Hiro and figured you didn\u2019t need any surprises while thinking about him,\u201d explained Moradelia. \u201cOptimus and Arsha are being visited by Rojenthi and Verdutha, respectively.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s the occasion?\u201d asked Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll of the contestants have been selected and all dossiers are compiled,\u201d replied Moradelia as she handed Megumi a folder of the dossiers. \u201cWe will give you two weeks according to your universe\u2019s time scale. I would recommend you give copies of the dossiers to all of your friends and make plans for any potential threats.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThank you!\u201d praised Megumi as she accepted the folder. \u201cWe sure will!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will see you in two weeks, then!\u201d cheered Moradelia as she departed in a purple flash of light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI better contact Optimus and Arsha,\u201d declared Megumi as she dashed to the comms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo you…need me to…?\u201d asked Richard as he pointed to the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou can stay,\u201d replied Megumi. \u201cI may need you to relay the news.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGot it, sweetheart,\u201d confirmed Richard. Megumi made her call and Optimus and Arsha appeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHello!\u201d she called. \u201cDid you two get your dossiers?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSure did,\u201d confirmed Arsha. \u201cWe should probably have a meeting with our teams about this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWould tomorrow morning work?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFine by me,\u201d replied Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVorton\u2019s fixed up enough,\u201d mused Megumi. \u201cMy engineers need a small break. We\u2019ll meet at Castle Nerd Skull\u2019s hangar at 9:00. We\u2019ll inform everyone about the biggest threats to our reaching the semifinals and start thinking up strategies to overcome them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got an electronic copy of the dossiers,\u201d offered Optimus. \u201cIf you two need copies made for everyone in your groups, we can still plan with mine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verse Rumble Royale. We were each declared worthy enough to participate and we hadn\u2019t received any news about it until yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo help prepare the participants,\u201d continued Optimus, \u201cthe Chizarans, the ones running this whole shindig, send out detailed dossiers about the competitors to everyone fighting. The fact is, if we\u2019re in this, we\u2019re each in it to win it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFirst Place prize is known in many realities as the Master Wand,\u201d supplied Megumi, \u201ca wand that can let you do ANYTHING you want from alchemy to surpassing the gods themselves. The three of us agreed that that\u2019s just too much power for anyone to have, so one of us is locking it away.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd Megumi\u2019s implying what you think she\u2019s implying,\u201d Arsha went on. \u201cThe three of us have an agreement that we need to stay together until we get to the semifinals. After that, all bets are off and we\u2019re each making a grab for the prize so one of us can lock it away for all time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs such, we\u2019re each keeping our strategies towards each other secret,\u201d Optimus continued. \u201cTo sum up, I have plans on how to beat Megumi and Arsha, but I\u2019m not telling them, just as they\u2019re not telling me how they intend to beat me. Right now, this meeting will be centered on preparations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPreparations for what?\u201d asked Twaldar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEnhancing our tech,\u201d began Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBrushing up on our magic,\u201d continued Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cKeeping our teamwork up to scratch,\u201d finished Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, we DO have something on our side,\u201d mused Lukas. \u201cWith Herr Tails\u2019 help, we were able to determine what happened when our enemies fled Vorton after Mordor fell.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBad news first,\u201d directed Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShields and weapons are still ruined,\u201d replied Lukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn addition, it\u2019s taking a long time to install our backup systems,\u201d reported Rusty. \u201cI\u2019d say we\u2019re only 12.5 percent done. We\u2019re still sorting through it, but a lot of hardware still needs repairs before every system is back online.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd the good news?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe still have a fix on Mobius and the Realms,\u201d answered Lukas. \u201cOn top of that, Dell studied the Ascendant and came to an interesting discovery. Herr Conagher?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMuch obliged,\u201d replied Dell. \u201cThe Ascendant can now be mass-produced.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHow\u2019s that possible?\u201d asked Bumblebee. \u201cIt needs a Transformer\u2019s Spark to bring it to reality.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAh, ah, the ORIGINAL did,\u201d corrected Dell. \u201cBy studying it, I think we can make it so all the Vortex Riders can have Ascendants. I\u2019m still trying to figure out how to make an Ascendant for a Chronicle Driver. Moe moved his head to track it. Once Curly was satisfied that Moe was paying close attention to his hand, he moved it up slowly, then brought it down fast, making Moe snap his head downwards. \u201cWhy you!\u201d snarled Moe as he smacked Curly\u2019s scalp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf we\u2019re all done,\u201d interjected War, \u201cI\u2019d like to continue. The tournament starts with 32 contestants. Over time, that number gets whittled down. As of now, we don\u2019t know who they\u2019re going to fight for the first round. We\u2019re still going over the dossiers, but we picked a few that we believe to be our biggest threats and need to come up with strategies on how to fight them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAssuming we know what contests they\u2019ll pick,\u201d rumbled Ironhide. \u201cIt might be a board game, for all we know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMaybe, but that might be a little more fair than the Chizarans want it to play out,\u201d replied Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cChances are good that they\u2019ll pick something they\u2019re good at,\u201d continued Arsha. \u201cThe rules state that the contestants have to have a \u2018reasonable chance\u2019 of victory for either side.\u201d Curly gulped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCurly\u2019s gulp was from experience,\u201d mused War. \u201c\u2018Reasonable chance\u2019 means whatever the Chizarans feel like it means. In one of my rounds, I picked axe throwing and my opponent may have only held an axe once in his life. They let me get away with it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLet\u2019s start going over the other participants,\u201d declared Megumi, \u201cstarting with the one Optimus faced in HIS preliminary round: Beatrice, the Golden and Endless Witch.\u201d A hologram of her appeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBeatrice?!\u201d yelped Blackarachnia. \u201cThe Witch of Rokkenjima?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe same,\u201d confirmed Optimus. \u201cBeatrice is a complex lady with a convoluted backstory. She exists outside of reality and is skilled in Endless Magic, creating illusions and toying with life and death. She kills everyone on Rokkenjima just to play a sick murder mystery game with Battler Ushiromiya and prove that witches exist. Apparently, that cruel persona is a front as she\u2019s more childish in truth. She hasn\u2019t yet understood how life can\u2019t be manipulated without consequences. She starts off as a full on villain, but becomes more heroic over time. She views everything as one big chess game. She prefers to let her opponents destroy themselves with mental trickery. Considering I managed to turn the tables on her before losing to her, chances are good that, if she faces me again, she may just use fireballs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis is her third tournament,\u201d continued Megumi, \u201cso she\u2019s pretty new to all this. Speaking of new guys, flip over to the next one: Ultragingana, the Cosmic Queen.\u201d Beatrice\u2019s hologram was replaced with a girl in a frilly dress with ribbons in her hair and carrying a parasol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSeems pretty frail looking,\u201d mused Ultra Magnus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat\u2019s just her preferred form,\u201d countered Arsha. The hologram was replaced with a bipedal, lizard-like beast with three spines on its head, a horn on its snout, razor sharp teeth, claws on each finger, dorsal plates running down the back all the way to the tip of the tail, and wing membranes filling in the space between its arms and sides. \u201cHere\u2019s her true form,\u201d continued Arsha, \u201cthe most powerful Kaiju in that universe. This is gonna be her first tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe\u2019re still getting a Kaiju in this tournament?!\u201d yelped Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYep,\u201d confirmed Optimus. \u201cUltragingana is three million years old, her true form is 150 meters tall, can shoot an energy beam from her mouth, can shoot her dorsal plates and manipulate their flight paths as she sees fit and return to her, the horn on her snout can help her gather energy, the spines on her head can come together to form a giant sword for her when she needs it, and a hole in her belly can open to reveal a black hole.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUnlike Godzilla,\u201d continued Megumi, \u201cUltragingana has always been hailed as a hero. She\u2019s from the depths of space and has landed on Earth to protect it from various other threats, mainly of the Kaiju variety. She usually adopts her human form to interact with the humans and help them whenever there\u2019s property damage. She was recently elected Queen of Earth by the United Nations for her service to the planet. As such, she\u2019s been declared an Earth citizen and is welcomed by all countries that like her. Russia, North Korea, England, they\u2019re not so fond of her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOkay, that would be the best fight ever!\u201d cheered Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHow does a Kaiju wield the Master Wand?\u201d asked Michael.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019ll change to fit in any size hand,\u201d replied War. \u201cIt IS all powerful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA better question,\u201d interjected Oak, \u201cis how a Kaiju can interact with anyone, much less understand what all this is!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGotta have some intelligence to understand all this,\u201d answered Megumi. \u201cBesides, she\u2019s a cosmic being, so changing species isn\u2019t all that new to her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSince she\u2019s fighting,\u201d mused Arsha, \u201cwe probably need to keep our ships fine-tuned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHonestly, it\u2019s the next person we need to worry about,\u201d muttered War, \u201cthe one who took Second Place while I won mine: Queen Phury of Appoplexia.\u201d A tiger-like bipedal woman then appeared. She had four digited hands and had a large claw on the back of her wrist. She dressed in a sash, a gold top, wore a golden flower at the back of her head, and a string of jewels across her brow. \u201cPhury\u2019s an Appoplexian,\u201d elaborated War, \u201cthe former Queen of Appoplexia. Being a woman, she\u2019s more cunning than any male Appoplexian. In fact, that\u2019s how Appoplexians in that universe select their rulers. She\u2019s ruled an empire for thirty years until that universe\u2019s Omnitrix bearer, Gwen Tennyson, overthrew her and helped the Appoplexians elect a new Queen to guide them into membership with the Plumber Alliance. She\u2019s mean, she\u2019s got a lid on the Appoplexians\u2019 usual temper, she\u2019s fast, and I don\u2019t doubt that, if killing was allowed in this contest, she\u2019d slit your throat for the heck of it. She\u2019s never won one, but she\u2019s made it to Third Place in two of them. In my experience, the best way to beat her is to get her to lose her temper. If she stays in control of her anger, you\u2019ll be lucky to walk at all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSounds simple,\u201d mused Richard. \u201cWho\u2019s next?\u201d Optimus, Arsha, and Megumi looked embarrassed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell…\u201d stammered Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s…er…\u201d mumbled Megumi as she rubbed the back of her head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c…Buncho,\u201d muttered Arsha as she hid behind her dossier folder. She\u2019s made it to Second Place in 16 of them. Verse Rumble Royale. One lady had black skin and hair, but her eyes were near white and her outfit was white and light-greys and she wore a white rose hair piece in the right of her hair. Her companion was her opposite in terms of skin and hair, outfit color, and hairpiece placement. The lady in white began. \u201cI am Blancalmarem, the white princess of Chizara and the life leader.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am Nemengra, the black princess of Chizara and the death leader,\u201d introduced the lady in black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd we kick things off with the opening ceremony!\u201d cheered Blancalmarem. \u201cWe have an excellent look at the parade of all spaces ruled by all princesses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn just a minute,\u201d continued Nemengra, \u201cwe will join all these ladies and show all the colors and shades of Chizaran Unity and Multiversal Protection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWith all aspects in attendance,\u201d supplied Blancalmarem, \u201cit\u2019s sure to be a spectacle.
