The Starwalker<\/em> successfully dropped Megatron\u2019s alliance off to the fallback universe near Vorton and was returned to After Academy\u2019s new shipyards. Megumi, Haruna, and Richard were in Haruna\u2019s new clothes shop at After Academy. Haruna measured Richard and did some calculations for the dress he was going to wear. \u201cAnd that\u2019s all!\u201d cheered Haruna. \u201cYou\u2019ll have your dress after the 3V2R is over.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThanks,\u201d muttered Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI assure you, it will look flattering on you,\u201d insisted Haruna. Just then, Megumi\u2019s phone rang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEr, is there a private place I could take this?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy supply room,\u201d replied Haruna as she pointed to a door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cArigato,\u201d thanked Megumi. She entered the supply room to see all sorts of fabrics, threads, yarn, and other various clothing supplies. \u201cDang, she\u2019s got a supply!\u201d breathed Megumi before she recalled her still-ringing phone. She answered it. \u201cMoshi moshi,\u201d she greeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSurrender Megatron, Dr. Borg, and Hiro to me at once!\u201d demanded War\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve checked them out,\u201d replied Megumi. \u201cThey\u2019re NOT under Caan\u2019s influence. You were wrong and this is NOT a good way to get back into the F.N.S!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not interested in rejoining your group!\u201d snarled War. \u201cWhether or not Caan has them under his sway makes no difference now! All that matters is that the multiverse will be safer without them! Now, surrender them or I will have no choice but to take them by force!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd risk war with me?\u201d warned Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf a war starts between us,\u201d hissed War, \u201cthe blame will be placed on your head!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI doubt history will agree,\u201d answered Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHistory is written by the victors!\u201d declared War. \u201cI know you hear that speech every time you enter one of Death\u2019s classes each semester!\u201d She then hung up. Megumi sighed as she looked to the sky in frustration. She left the supply room and Richard followed her out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEverything all right, sweetie?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWar\u2019s still sore about what happened,\u201d sighed Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDid you tell her we confirmed they weren\u2019t working with Caan?\u201d inquired Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe didn\u2019t care,\u201d replied Megumi. \u201cShe\u2019s only interested in ridding the multiverse of them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s really not her place,\u201d muttered Richard. Their conversation was interrupted by the sounds of fighting. \u201cWho in the…?\u201d asked Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOver there!\u201d called Megumi. The source of the noises came from Batman, Ichig\u014d, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle fighting Hiro as Tora-Otoko (Tiger Man)! Megumi fastened her Vortex Driver to her waist and inserted her i.d. tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHenshin!\u201d she called, attracting Tora-Otoko\u2019s attention. Tora-Otoko then grabbed her head once her transformation into Royal was complete and ran to the fountain at the entrance. Once there, he shoved Royal back and slammed a metal disc to the ground, creating an energy dome that kept them in and everyone else out. The fountain was inside the dome as well. \u201cWhat is this?!\u201d demanded Royal. \u201cI recall saving your…!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo more!\u201d roared Tora-Otoko. \u201cI\u2019ve had it with you! Always smiling when life is just a tragedy! Always winning despite the odds being stacked against you! Always having friends while my empire crumbles! Always changing while my belt was lost to War! Always standing with your husband while I have no one! No wife! No children! No true allies! No empire! No real future! No belt! Well, I\u2019m going to get satisfaction one way or another, and if killing you is the only way I\u2019ll ever get it, so be it! No more friends interrupting! No more backing out! No more pretense of mercy! The only way that dome vanishes is if one of us is finished! Megumi Hishikawa, Kamen Rider Royal, my greatest failure, you will die at my hands!\u201d He extended his claws and slashed at Royal. Royal retreated towards the dome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not fighting you, Tora-Otoko!\u201d she proclaimed. \u201cEnd this now!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNO!\u201d roared Tora-Otoko. \u201cNOT UNTIL YOU\u2019RE DEAD!\u201d Royal ran along the edge of the dome, trying to find a way out, but couldn\u2019t find it. She turned…then felt a knife penetrate her left side. Her air was forced out of her as her eyes registered Tora-Otoko. He then backed up, leaving his knife in her side. Outside the dome. Richard and the Keystone Bearers were pounding on the dome\u2019s exterior. Royal couldn\u2019t hear them, only concentrating on the pain in her side as she slumped down to her knees, her hands around the knife as it rested in her side. The pain then dulled, reduced to only a mild throb. She then regained her breath and her normal breathing. Tora-Otoko was wondering why Royal wasn\u2019t dead yet. She then…stood up! She took the knife out and the wound healed itself as the undersuit re-stitched itself. \u201c…Bakana!\u201d (Impossible!) breathed Tora-Otoko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the word,\u201d remarked Royal. She tossed the knife aside. \u201cAll right then, if you really leave me no choice, we\u2019ll play your game!\u201d She then charged at Tora-Otoko and they traded blows at a tremendous speed! Soon, Royal overcame Tora-Otoko\u2019s attempts to block and delivered two solid punches to his ribs. She then thrust her palm into his chin, grabbed his head, and tossed him over her shoulder. She then spun the wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFinal attack!\u201d called the Vortex Driver as she leapt into the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRIDER ROYAL KICK!\u201d she shouted as she flew towards Tora-Otoko and kicked him right in the chest. She then landed behind him as he exploded. The fire and smoke then died down to reveal Tora-Otoko turning back into Hiro. The dome then died down and Richard and the Keystone Bearers ran to give Hiro more of a beating, stopping only when Royal held her hand up. She cancelled her transformation and knelt by Hiro, turning him over so his face was facing up. His eyes opened and he saw that the dome was gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Goddammit,\u201d he swore, \u201cit faded the instant I turned human again. …Well, what are you waiting for, Megumi? I invaded Vorton on numerous occasions, I enslaved my allies, I attacked your friends, I stabbed you, why not just stab me in my head and get your standing ovation?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause I\u2019m doing this by the book,\u201d replied Megumi, \u201cand I never wanted to kill you. Don\u2019t you understand? I don\u2019t want you to die! I want our relationship to be better, but we\u2019re running out of options now. You know it, I know it, maybe it all hinges on today. Maybe this is our last chance to sort this mess out, otherwise we\u2019re going to kill each other. I don\u2019t want it to end like that. I believe it doesn\u2019t need to end like that. I don\u2019t know what caused you to join the original Shocker, but, who knows, I could have been there myself. Maybe I can help you. You don\u2019t need to be alone. I can help you get your life back together. What do you say?\u201d Both enemies stared at each other. For once, there was no hatred, no anger, just one stare born of a desire to help versus a stare of hopelessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…No,\u201d sighed Hiro. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, but, no. It\u2019s too late for that. It\u2019s too late for me. I\u2019m too old and have lived too long with my hatred.\u201d He laughed weakly. \u201cYou know, now I think I get the Joker\u2019s joke after all.\u201d A rift opened. \u201cAh, that must be my ride.\u201d Dr. Borg then stormed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHiro, you are needed back at base!\u201d demanded Dr. Borg. \u201cReturn at once!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, My Lady,\u201d sighed Hiro. They both entered the rift and it closed behind them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Why mention one of the Joker\u2019s jokes?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe\u2019s referring to a joke the Joker told me once,\u201d explained Batman. \u201cThe only one that made me laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow did it go, if you don\u2019t mind my asking?\u201d quizzed Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere were two insane asylum inmates,\u201d began Batman. \u201cOne night, they planned an escape and succeed by climbing onto the rooftops. All that\u2019s left is one narrow gap between the buildings. One of the inmates leaps across the gap, but the second is too afraid of falling, so he doesn\u2019t jump. The first one then calls \u2018I\u2019ve got an idea; I\u2019ve brought a flashlight! I\u2019ll shine it across the gap and you can walk along the beam and join me!\u2019 But the second one says \u2018What do you think I am, crazy? You\u2019d turn it off when I was halfway across!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…And, in this instance, Hiro viewed me as the inmate with the flashlight,\u201d muttered Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJust as the Joker viewed me,\u201d replied Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…I\u2019m sorry, but while I DO get the joke,\u201d sighed Megumi, \u201cI don\u2019t find it funny.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI can\u2019t say I\u2019m laughing either,\u201d mumbled Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRight now,\u201d continued Megumi, \u201cI want to know about how I survived that stab. I could feel the blade piercing my lung.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEmily and I found an answer,\u201d declared Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHave you, now?\u201d asked Ichig\u014d as he reverted back into Hongo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe whole of the F.N.S has the healing factor,\u201d explained Batman. \u201cIt\u2019s because there\u2019s something in this universe\u2019s water. Frequent exposure to it only extends your life-span. Daily exposure over a long period of time, two years, for example, renders you unable to die of age or injury, even when you\u2019re thrown into space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…We\u2019re…immortal?\u201d gulped Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSomehow, that just makes me sad,\u201d muttered Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait, does that mean we\u2019re immortal too?\u201d asked Wyldstyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, we haven\u2019t been in contact with the water as long as they have,\u201d answered Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCan you determine how powerful of immortals we are?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re not Chizaran levels, thank goodness,\u201d answered Batman. Megumi released a breath. \u201cYou don\u2019t have god-like powers, you\u2019re just people that can\u2019t die.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait, that doesn\u2019t make sense,\u201d muttered Richard. \u201cAmelia and Brendan died before they came to After Academy and they use the same water we do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re back to life,\u201d replied Batman. \u201cHow do you think Emily can conduct a normal check-up on them?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI thought that was just part of the physical laws of this universe,\u201d muttered Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs did the Horsemen and I,\u201d supplied Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait, the Horsemen didn\u2019t know about the water supply?!\u201d yelped Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo,\u201d answered Batman. \u201cDeath had discovered that the life-timers of the students were purposefully mislabeled as mortal. She found the source of the mislabeling to be from Vortoranii.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…You mean…Queen Vortoranii? The Vortonian ghost that lived in Megumi\u2019s old Vortex Driver and its iterations?\u201d asked Gandalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe same,\u201d confirmed Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy would she do that?!\u201d snapped Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want answers from her!\u201d snarled Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019ll have to get in line,\u201d answered Batman. \u201cDeath\u2019s finding her now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…How did the Chizarans cope before the 3V2R?\u201d sighed Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo that\u2019s what\u2019s going on now,\u201d muttered Rosadera as she met Mirai-Megumi. \u201cWhat made you think about your current immortality?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRichard,\u201d answered Mirai-Megumi as she removed the perception filter and dispelled the illusion that she was an older woman. \u201cWhen Mickey was discovered to be working with Caan, Richard chased him to Chima. He was then shot by Caan as he came to pick Mickey up. The second time, he was stabbed in the back and rushed to the Virginia<\/em>\u2019s sick bay so Emily could heal him. She discovered that the stab wound closed itself and the clothes repaired themselves. By now, my past should have fought Hiro and have been stabbed only to survive it and have her wound close itself as well as her Rider form\u2019s undersuit. Batman should be telling her the results of his investigation and I\u2019ll get the message by then. I can\u2019t die and neither can the F.N.S. and our families. All this time, Vortoranii knew I would turn immortal when I started using After Academy\u2019s water supply on a daily basis.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, getting her soul is easy for me,\u201d remarked Rosadera. \u201cPerhaps we can get answers from her.\u201d She snapped her fingers and Vortoranii\u2019s ghost appeared. She looked startled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat in the…?!\u201d she spluttered. She then saw Rosadera. \u201cMy Goddess,\u201d greeted Vortoranii with a smile. \u201cWe haven\u2019t spoken in a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, we haven\u2019t,\u201d replied Rosadera. \u201cTell me, did you know about the immortality-laden water After Academy and Beyond City use?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Yes,\u201d answered Vortoranii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBatman\u2019s giving my past,\u201d explained Mirai-Megumi, \u201cthe results of his investigation into that and Death\u2019s looking for you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCorrection: Death found her!\u201d hissed Death\u2019s voice. Death approached, looking incredibly angry. \u201cI found your journal!\u201d she snarled. \u201cI distinctly told you that no student may claim immortality! The student body, as a rule, don\u2019t WANT that kind of power since 67% died before they were accepted! What\u2019s the idea?! Planning to make an immortal army?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo!\u201d answered Vortoranii. \u201cI just…\u201d she sighed in defeat. \u201cI just wanted someone that wasn\u2019t a Vortonian to have that power. It was a way to keep Vortech from taking it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d asked Mirai-Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVortech was going to use that universe as a source of power,\u201d explained Vortoranii. \u201cIf even one non-Vortonian touched it, it would have scuttled his plans. I knew you and your sister Horsemen were capable guardians and I wanted others to learn from you as a means to give asylum to those that were worthy enough to continue learning instead of moving on to Heaven. Some good people feared that Heaven is too much of a utopia, and we know such a place stifles individuality. The instant he heard about the school\u2019s founding, he went insane and killed us all, thus prompting the search for the Foundation Elements.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen you have deceived me and got away with it!\u201d hissed Death. \u201cYou have already reached your version of Heaven, but know this, you share the blame of the Vortonian genocide!\u201d She shoved Vortoranii into a portal leading to a paradise and closed it the instant Vortoranii went through. She breathed heavily before steadying herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t pleasant for me when I first heard about her motives from you,\u201d sighed Mirai-Megumi. Rosadera had an uneasy look on her face. \u201cSomething wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLooking at you now,\u201d sighed Rosadera, \u201cknowing what happened to you, I\u2019m afraid you\u2019ve turned out wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThanks,\u201d grunted Mirai-Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI can\u2019t help it, I\u2019m a Chizaran,\u201d continued Rosadera. \u201cIt\u2019s instinct for me to be immortal. You, you\u2019re supposed to be ephemeral, a fixed point in time and space. Even the Doctor would say your current state is wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSo, what, you immortals are prejudiced?\u201d mused Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPerhaps,\u201d muttered Death. \u201cI never thought about it like that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShame on you,\u201d joked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne of our earlier experiments with our power was a universe that granted immortality to its denizens,\u201d recalled Rosadera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe must have found it,\u201d guessed Death. \u201cMaybe you could help undo it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was a botched experiment,\u201d replied Rosadera. \u201cThat kind of immortality rendered the universe unchanging, no room to grow, no room for life. It could only expand through artificial means. I suppose we\u2019ll have to figure out how to make it grow by itself so it can\u2019t be overpopulated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen it all comes down to one question,\u201d resolved Death. \u201cMegumi, do you want your mortality back? Do you want the ability to die again?\u201d Mirai-Megumi seemed distracted as she stroked her hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Maybe I should wear a flower in my hair more often,\u201d she mused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMegumi,\u201d urged Death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…I don\u2019t know,\u201d sighed Mirai-Megumi. \u201cI thought I did, briefly. But, fighting in the 3V2R, seeing other universes begin and end, seeing life change and grow,\u201d she grinned as she finished, \u201cit tends to make you greedy for life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou discovered the Chizaran secret to happiness at a faster rate than we did,\u201d chuckled Rosadera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThank you for the offer, Death, but I must decline,\u201d declared Megumi. Death grinned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s good to know,\u201d she praised. \u201cNow, if you\u2019ll excuse me, I must tell present-day you what I\u2019ve learned.\u201d She then vanished in black smoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI better return as well,\u201d mused Mirai-Megumi. \u201cWhen the Semifinals are done, more explanations will be made.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
