The Endeavor<\/em>, Ark<\/em>, Virginia<\/em>, Nemesis<\/em>, Scorpion<\/em>, and a Shocker Rift saucer named the Tiger<\/em> flew through the rift on course for the universe Caan and his allies were in. The captains of each ship were in a conference over the subspace channels. \u201cSo, are we clear on the plan?\u201d asked Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Ark<\/em> and Nemesis<\/em>,\u201d replied Optimus, \u201cwill begin surface bombardment, making sure our targets are unharmed, yet surrounded.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe six of us,\u201d continued Megatron, \u201cwill then beam down and apprehend them, holding each one in our brigs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will have Caan,\u201d supplied Hiro, \u201cOptimus will hold Dr. Eggman, and you will interrogate Mickey.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf War comes,\u201d Dr. Borg went on, \u201cthe Scorpion<\/em> and the Tiger<\/em> will try to hold off her fleet while the Virginia<\/em> and Endeavor <\/em>will assist in both bombarding and holding off War\u2019s fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen we get to Vorton, we hold our targets until we get answers,\u201d finished Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExcellent,\u201d declared Megumi. \u201cWe\u2019ve only got one shot to get answers. If we screw up now, we\u2019ll never get them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMegumi!\u201d called Richard from the bridge. \u201cWar\u2019s fleet beat us to it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?!\u201d yelped Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, looks like we\u2019re ALL holding off War!\u201d grumbled Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need extra protection!\u201d declared Megumi. \u201cEveryone, pick someone else to assist us! We\u2019re going in hot!\u201d The call ended and Megumi entered the bridge. \u201cRichard, with me!\u201d she ordered. \u201cHiroki, you\u2019re in charge until we get back!\u201d Richard and Megumi then entered the transporter room and fastened their belts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVortex Driver!\u201d the two belts called. They then took out their Ascendants and i.d. tags and inserted both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAscendance! All set!\u201d announced their Ascendants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHenshin!\u201d proclaimed Richard and Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFull Ascendance!\u201d called the Ascendants. They turned into their Ascendant Rider forms and beamed onto the surface of the universe. They met Hiro as Tora-Otoko with a Shocker Rift Drone Dalek, Megatron with Starscream, Optimus with Ironhide, Arsha in her armor with Bashoon, and Dr. Borg with Jansha. They found Caan as Kamen Rider Dal, Mickey as Kamen Rider Lux, and Dr. Eggman fighting off Kamen Rider Adaptus and a Dalek-based Kamen Rider, Metaltron as Kamen Rider Ex. Just then, War in her Rider Form, Skyfall, and Quake Hammer shimmered into view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere they are!\u201d called War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNO, YOU DON\u2019T!\u201d shouted Royal as she clashed with War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStay out of this, mortal!\u201d demanded War as she blocked Royal\u2019s sword swing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShows what you know!\u201d taunted Royal. \u201cAfter Academy\u2019s universe made everyone immortal, even bringing the dead back to life!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLIAR!\u201d shouted War. Guard assisted Royal as Optimus and Megatron clashed with Quake Hammer and Skyfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou side with the enemy!\u201d accused Optimus. \u201cYou hide the fact that you\u2019ve married a Decepticon from me! You attack innocent people! You\u2019re no Autobot, you cruel Pit-spawn!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m being cruel to be kind!\u201d argued Skyfall. \u201cLike a child scares me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA child that\u2019s stripping you of the Autobrand for this, traitor!\u201d countered Optimus. Megatron concentrated on Quake Hammer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou know, I told the D.J.D. that you died defending me!\u201d Megatron snarled at Quake Hammer. \u201cMaybe I should tell them I was mistaken and have you put back on the List!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBelieve it or not,\u201d growled Quake Hammer, \u201cI don\u2019t think the D.J.D. will listen to you, considering your Autobot origins!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have abandoned that faction a long time ago!\u201d roared Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s no excuse for the D.J.D!\u201d countered Quake Hammer. Tora-Otoko, the Dalek, Dr. Borg, Arsha, and Bashoon focused on Dal, Lux, and Eggman while Ex and Adaptus tried to get around the group of four. Dr. Borg and Bashoon tried to knock Adaptus off their backs while Ex attacked Arsha, Tora-Otoko, and the Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEXTERMINATE!\u201d called the Dalek as it fired. The blaster bolt was deflected by Ex\u2019s new armor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNice try,\u201d taunted Ex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEXTERMINATE!\u201d shrieked the Dalek as it fired again and again. \u201cEXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! WHY WON\u2019T YOU JUST DIE ALREADY?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI can\u2019t,\u201d purred Ex as she punched through the Dalek\u2019s casing. She then retracted her fist to reveal the remains of the Dalek\u2019s internal flesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCOME HERE!\u201d roared Tora-Otoko as he swung the Rift Breaker at Ex. Ex dodged the attack, but left herself open to Arsha\u2019s punch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhy you!\u201d snarled Ex as she performed a roundhouse kick. Arsha caught Ex\u2019s foot and flipped her to the ground. Tora-Otoko inserted his old i.d. tag into the Rift Breaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFinal Attack!\u201d it announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTORA RIFT SLICE!\u201d shouted Tora-Otoko as he swung it sideways, creating an energy wave that hit Ex and cancelled her transformation, changing her back into Metaltron. Tora-Otoko arched an eyebrow. \u201cYou\u2019re…blue?\u201d he muttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat, got something against a new breed of Dalek?\u201d asked Metaltron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEggman!\u201d called Lux. \u201cAny time now!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGot them!\u201d cheered Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNOW!\u201d shouted Dal. Eggman pressed a button and everything gained a bluish tint. Metaltron and Adaptus looked around in stark confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWHERE\u2019D THEY GO?!\u201d demanded Metaltron as she passed through Optimus\u2019 leg while everyone tried to steady themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNever mind them,\u201d urged Adaptus as she turned back into the former Cyber-Planner Gi. She now wore a silver dress. \u201cWe have other recruits to find,\u201d reminded Gi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, yes, we do,\u201d remembered Metaltron. \u201cCome on, we need to leave.\u201d She summoned a Rift and they vanished into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEr…couldn\u2019t they…?\u201d asked Quake Hammer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a temporary pocket dimension,\u201d explained Lux as he turned back into Mickey. \u201cEggman was supposed to leave them out while we talked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSweet Primus!\u201d groaned Optimus. \u201cWho calibrated that?! Feels like my internal mechanics took a weekend in Six Lasers Over Cybertron!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cClearly, the problem is your weak constitution,\u201d remarked Dal as he changed back into Caan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh, yeah, forgot about you!\u201d hissed War as she drew her sword.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWHOA! WAIT! NO!\u201d yelped Mickey as he got between War and Caan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMickey, you\u2019ve got five seconds,\u201d warned Royal, \u201cto explain what\u2019s going on here and why you\u2019re working with Caan and Eggman!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re owed no such explanation!\u201d snarled Caan. \u201cYou should have kept your nose out of our business!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd let you conquer Foundation Prime?!\u201d roared War. \u201cNot a chance!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat use would I have for Foundation Prime?!\u201d snapped Caan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEveryone, calm down!\u201d urged Mickey. \u201cWe\u2019re all in this together!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCalm down?!\u201d protested Guard. \u201cYou\u2019re working with Eggman and a former Dalek! You saw how dangerous one was during the incident with the Sources! Mickey, we\u2019ve been against them from the start, you\u2019ve been working with them since you joined us three years ago! Maybe before that! I say Caan\u2019s wrong! We\u2019re ALL owed an explanation!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Wait, you mean you really don\u2019t know?\u201d asked Mickey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOf course, they don\u2019t!\u201d snapped Caan. \u201cAnyone can tell you that and they don\u2019t need my clairvoyance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut I thought they would have, at least, suspected!\u201d argued Mickey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSuspected what?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGuys, I went to Megumi\u2019s future!\u201d revealed Mickey. \u201cI know what\u2019s going on!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy…future?\u201d asked Royal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAsk and she shall appear,\u201d called a voice. Mirai-Megumi appeared, wearing her perception filter. \u201cNow, before I get into the big reveal,\u201d she began, \u201cMegumi, did Death tell you about my conversation with her and Rosadera?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah, why?\u201d asked Royal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGood,\u201d declared Mirai-Megumi as she took off the perception filter. \u201cNow I don\u2019t have to have this stupid thing and can reveal why I hired Caan to assist in this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Okay, when do I go senile enough to want to hire a former Dalek?!\u201d hissed Royal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not senility,\u201d argued Mirai-Megumi, \u201cit\u2019s ensuring time stays on track and we only need to worry about a different version of Shocker.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d asked Guard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMinna, Caan\u2019s right!\u201d revealed Mirai-Megumi. \u201cVortech is still alive!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…That…That…THAT\u2019S ABSURD!\u201d argued War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI warned you, Megumi,\u201d hissed Caan. \u201cI told you I saw you, Optimus, and Arsha fighting Vortech before you were robbed of the Sources by Hiro. You should have heeded my advice and prepared for his second coming!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou left his service with me!\u201d argued Tora-Otoko. \u201cYou only heard the news that Vortech was imprisoned in a rift loop and died when it collapsed!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWould someone tell me what\u2019s going on?!\u201d demanded Dr. Borg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAbout five years ago,\u201d explained Royal, \u201cmy friends and I, the original Vortex Riders, got Batman, Hongo, Wyldstyle, and Gandalf on a crazy journey that spanned the entire multiverse to defeat the last of the Vortonians, Lord Vortech. He was going to smash every reality into one another to make a perfect, singular universe. We stopped him by trapping him in a rift loop and it collapsed, thus it KILLED him!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVortech\u2019s alive and well in this time!\u201d corrected Mirai-Megumi. \u201cHe\u2019s just hiding within someone. Three someones, in fact. Want to know who they are?\u201d She then pointed to Royal, Optimus, and Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…He\u2019s…inside us?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSnoozing right in your heads,\u201d confirmed Mirai-Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEr, guys,\u201d gulped Eggman, \u201ccan we continue this in normal reality? The pocket dimension\u2019s about to collapse!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll tell you what,\u201d offered Royal as she cancelled her transformation, \u201cwe\u2019ll order our ships to stop shooting at each other to hear your explanations. If we\u2019re satisfied, we\u2019ll let you off the hook. If not, we\u2019re throwing you in prison. Sound fair?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFine,\u201d agreed Mickey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Very well,\u201d grunted War as she cancelled her transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe speaks for us,\u201d declared Megatron as Tora-Otoko turned back into Hiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

All ships stopped shooting at each other and listened to Mirai-Megumi, Mickey, Caan, and Eggman explain why they did what they did. \u201cBut…but…that\u2019s not…\u201d muttered Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI went to the future,\u201d replied Mickey. \u201cVortech\u2019s still alive!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just…a little hard to take in!\u201d remarked Hiro. \u201cHow long has he been inside their heads?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe was split across different points in time as well,\u201d explained Mirai-Megumi. \u201cDuring the fight on Foundation Prime over the Sources, unbeknownst to me, I had backed my foot into a small lump of Vortech. It activated his memories and soul and he was split into three fragments. One of them buried itself into me, the second went into Optimus during Sira\u2019s lecture about how the soul knows when someone is turning bad, even if the mind is clouded.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat was after I had lost my magic briefly,\u201d muttered Optimus. \u201cI was falling into delusions of power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe third was when Arsha first met Dr. Borg as she explained her plan to use a virus to take over the Realms,\u201d continued Mirai-Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI still owe you for ruining that plan,\u201d Dr. Borg threatened Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDoctor, shut up,\u201d hissed Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRight now,\u201d finished Mirai-Megumi, \u201cVortech\u2019s just lying in wait, manipulating us all to turn against each other.\u201d War\u2019s face fell when she heard that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait, then where does the Ascendant come into play?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat was something 200-year-old me did,\u201d explained Mirai-Megumi. \u201cYes, she\u2019s also locked looking like she\u2019s 21. In any case, she told Sludgiona what was going on before the Vortech Wars and told her to make the prototype Vortex Drivers, then make new ones.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDid she tell Sludgiona to make the Chronicle Drivers?\u201d asked Dell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, that was all her doing,\u201d replied Mirai-Megumi. \u201cThe Lukas of my time programmed the virus that destroyed them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe virus Mickey installed in them?\u201d asked Jandro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe same,\u201d confirmed Mirai-Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat still leaves me confused,\u201d muttered Optimus. \u201cWhy did it need my Spark? Why couldn\u2019t you just say that the Ascendant needed it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause that would have made the timeline messier than it already is,\u201d replied Mirai-Megumi. \u201cTruthfully, it needed a good source of energy, I just forgot that it need something on the level of your Spark.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen why was the Ascendant made at all?\u201d asked Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause it\u2019s not just a power-up,\u201d replied Mickey. \u201cIt\u2019s not a fancy gadget! It\u2019s armor! Mental armor!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOf course!\u201d cheered Lukas. \u201cWunderbar!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHuh?\u201d asked Richard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVortech is a being of pure energy,\u201d explained Lukas. \u201cTo fight someone like him, you need to fight in a manner similar to his existence, with greater energy, and a Transformer\u2019s Spark, especially one bonded to the Matrix, is the very thing needed to hold him back!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s one of a myriad of ways we fight someone like Vortech,\u201d explained Mirai-Megumi. \u201cPeople like him are classified as Industria Bestias, Beasts of Energy. We have ways of defeating them or blocking them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Ascendant isn\u2019t just for making new forms,\u201d continued Caan. \u201cIt\u2019s a shield, a method of keeping Vortech from taking over your minds and bodies. With Megumi in possession of an Ascendant, Vortech can\u2019t use you lot, not even Optimus and Arsha. However, he\u2019s still inside your bodies and we need him OUT to defeat him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen we gotta reconvene and plan on Vorton,\u201d declared Megumi. \u201cFor now, all charges against Mickey and Eggman need to be dropped. War, I need you to…War?\u201d War wasn\u2019t on the screen. Instead, it was Quake Hammer. \u201cWhere\u2019s War?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn her ready room,\u201d replied Quake Hammer. \u201cShe heard everything, but I think hearing that she was manipulated into betraying you all by Vortech left her shaken.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Permission to come aboard?\u201d asked Megumi, guessing why she was shaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGranted,\u201d answered Quake Hammer. \u201cWe\u2019ll beam you over.\u201d Megumi was transported via teleport beam to the bridge of War\u2019s ship and was shown where her ready room was. She knocked on the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome,\u201d mumbled War\u2019s voice. Megumi stepped in to see War huddled in a corner, pulling her knees to her chest, and looking sorry for herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWar?\u201d asked Megumi. \u201cAre you okay?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMore or less,\u201d muttered War. \u201cAre you okay?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been worse,\u201d assured Megumi. \u201c…Er, about Mickey…\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not pursuing him, not anymore,\u201d replied War in uncharacteristic softness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…What are you thinking about?\u201d quizzed Megumi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEverything,\u201d answered War. \u201c…Specifically, what I did against you and what I was planning to do to you. I\u2019m sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s okay,\u201d replied Megumi. \u201cYou were manipulated by Vortech.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWas I?\u201d mumbled War. Megumi winced, guessing what War was going through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Look, we can save the pity party for later,\u201d declared Megumi. \u201cWe need to get Vortech out of me, Optimus, and Arsha.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTrue,\u201d sighed War as she stood up. \u201cWhat do you need from me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRight now, we\u2019re all going to Vorton to make Vortech aware that we\u2019re on to him,\u201d explained Megumi. \u201cYou up for another fight against him?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Yes!\u201d declared War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll see you on Vorton, then,\u201d finished Megumi. \u201cVirginia<\/em>, this is Megumi. One to return.\u201d She vanished as War took her place on her bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
