Optimus had just gotten a report from G.U.N about Eggman in the park. He rolled his optics about the whole thing. In all honesty, he wished Eggman would just quietly fade into the background and be forgotten so he could concentrate on the Decepticon threat. He poured over the recommendations for troop deployment. As he worked, a voice piped up. \u201cHey, Prime,\u201d greeted the voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, Primus,\u201d Optimus thought, \u201cnot what I need right now.\u201d The speaker jumped onto his desk. \u201cSonic,\u201d Optimus admonished aloud, \u201cI\u2019m very busy. This better not be a social call.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not,\u201d replied Sonic. \u201cTeletraan\u2019s been trying to reach both of us.\u201d Optimus\u2019 optics flickered, Cybertronian blinking, then he activated his desk\u2019s interface with Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWere you trying to get me?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah,\u201d answered Teletraan, annoyed. \u201cI\u2019ve been trying to get you for an hour now!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSorry,\u201d groaned Optimus. \u201cI was buried in work. What\u2019s up?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSomeone\u2019s trying to talk to both you and Sonic,\u201d explained Teletraan. \u201cThey said they wouldn\u2019t reveal themselves until you two contacted them. They left their contact info behind, but it doesn\u2019t tell me the name.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Is it going to be secure?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVery, actually,\u201d replied Teletraan. \u201cThey\u2019ve accounted for Soundwave, for some reason.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen they feel that what they need to say to us,\u201d declared Optimus, \u201cwould have the potential to tip the war in the Decepticons\u2019 favor. Call them.\u201d Teletraan connected the call and a ringing was heard as Sonic and Optimus waited. Soon, the other person picked up. Their face appeared and\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEGGMAN?!\u201d yelped Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExcellent!\u201d praised Eggman over the call. \u201cI understand this is a rather unique situation\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHow did you find Teletraan in the first place?!\u201d demanded Optimus. \u201cWhat\u2019s Megatron planning?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf I were calling on behalf of the Decepticons,\u201d retorted Eggman, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t make sure Soundwave wasn\u2019t listening in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026He\u2019s got a point,\u201d remarked Teletraan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, I\u2019d say it\u2019s good to see you,\u201d chuckled Sonic, \u201cbut it\u2019s not nice to lie.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVery droll, you pincushion,\u201d grumbled Eggman. \u201cListen, I have news that will affect life on Mobius AND Cybertron as well. I need to discuss the terms of a truce with you two and the other leaders.\u201d Sonic and Optimus blinked, then looked at each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two met Eggman in an area that neither Autobot nor Decepticon had found. The area was rich in Energon, so robot mode would be affected instantly, and weapons fire would cause the area to ignite. They waited as Sira, Bokkun, Topaz, and Aleena arrived. \u201cAll right, Eggbreath,\u201d snarled Bokkun, \u201cYOU called the meeting! What\u2019s this nonsense about a truce?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAbsolutely true, my old messenger, I assure you,\u201d soothed Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen you call a truce,\u201d growled Aleena, \u201cit usually means that you need time to rebuild the Eggman Empire!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnder normal circumstances, yes,\u201d answered Eggman, \u201cbut, given that the Decepticons are going to weaponize a relic of the Transformers\u2019 past, not this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA relic of our past?\u201d asked Optimus. \u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGo ahead and verify this footage,\u201d urged Eggman as he handed over a flash drive, \u201cbut it IS all true. Optimus, the Decepticons have found the Allspark here on Mobius!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat?!\u201d protested Optimus. \u201cAbsurd! The chances of that happening are astronomical!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI tell you now, the Decepticons found it and plan to weaponize it!\u201d insisted Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCould you explain what the Allspark is?\u201d Sira asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s our species\u2019 old means of propagation before females came into existence outside of our demi-gods,\u201d explained Optimus. \u201cIt\u2019s a giant cube that can bring machines to our form of life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut you guys got it off your planet while you were fighting the Quintessons, right?\u201d asked Bokkun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe did,\u201d confirmed Optimus. \u201cHowever, only a Matrix-bearer could activate it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, Megatron found it here!\u201d urged Eggman. \u201cHe intends to weaponize it and use you to activate it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s absurd!\u201d scoffed Optimus. \u201cEven if I believe you, the playing field\u2019s still even. Like me, Megatron doesn\u2019t know how a Matrix-bearer activated it. That knowledge was lost during the Great War.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo you really think Megatron won\u2019t relearn the knowledge?!\u201d argued Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEven if he did, why would you be so concerned?\u201d asked Topaz. \u201cA world ruled by machines; that\u2019s your dream, right?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019M the one that needs to rule the machines,\u201d answered Eggman. \u201cIf Megatron has his way, I\u2019ll be toiling with you lot, not ruling over you! To be frank, I can\u2019t have Megatron upend my work and I can\u2019t be distracted by you heroes. Thus, I propose a truce lasting long enough for you to get the Allspark under guard. I\u2019d feel more comfortable with the Autobots holding onto it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo you take us for fools?!\u201d snarled Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, old friend,\u201d chuckled Eggman as he flew off, \u201cI take you all for heroes.\u201d He then left the area, leaving the Mobius Leaders, Sonic, and Optimus to ponder the next move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2026I mean, it can\u2019t\u2026\u201d Prowl was floundering at the results of the repeated analysis tests of the flash drive. They had all come back the same, the footage simply WASN\u2019T tampered with. There were Eggman robots with the Decepticon symbol guarding the Allspark. Teletraan even verified the coordinates with a Sky Spy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know what to tell you, Prowl,\u201d muttered Teletraan. \u201cEggman was telling the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut he\u2019s a known crook!\u201d protested Prowl. \u201cMaybe there\u2019s something we\u2019ve missed! Let\u2019s run a\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo!\u201d argued Teletraan. \u201cWe\u2019ve run every form of analysis on that flash drive three times over and the results are all the same! I\u2019m not going to let myself be called insane again! Besides, it\u2019s nighttime! Even I need my sleep!\u201d Prowl sighed as a fact weighed down on his mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI suppose it would be irresponsible of us,\u201d he muttered, \u201cto wait any longer if the Decepticons really DO have the Allspark. We better tell Prime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThank you!\u201d bid Teletraan as relief crossed his avatar\u2019s features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA Sky Spy?!\u201d roared Megatron as Eggman told him what the Autobots did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes!\u201d confirmed Eggman. \u201cThe Autobots know about the Allspark! They\u2019ll try and take it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf Unicron\u2019s coming,\u201d growled Megatron, \u201cwe can\u2019t afford to let those bumbling Autobots have the Allspark! Have the guard doubled and tell Metal Sonic to get involved!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will!\u201d promised Eggman. Megatron left and Eggman doubled the guard, informing Metal Sonic that he was needed at the Allspark. Once all that was done, he relaxed. \u201cComputer, how go the simulations?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll simulations complete,\u201d answered the computer. \u201cWe\u2019re ready to begin construction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGet to it,\u201d ordered Eggman. \u201cOh, fire up my music as well. Playlist: Tunes of Anarchy, Track 1.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cConstruction of Final Drafts: Initiated,\u201d droned the computer. \u201cWhere Evil Grows<\/em>: Now Playing.\u201d The song then began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI like the way you smile at me.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I felt the heat that enveloped me.<\/em>\u201d Eggman then activated a display that monitored construction completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd what saw I liked to see,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I never knew where evil grew.<\/em>\u201d He then activated a hologram of a rave with him at the center of attention and started dancing, checking the construction status all the while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI should have steered away from you.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n My friend told me to keep clear of you.<\/em>\u201d A pair of groupies then swooned for Eggman as he wiggled his eyebrows and grinned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut something drew me near to you,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n I never knew where evil grew.<\/em>\u201d The area then went dark for a minute before the hologram changed to a skiing trip. Eggman then joined in the illusion and pretended to ski down the slopes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEvil grows in the dark,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Where the sun, it never shines.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Evil grows in cracks and holes,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n And lives in people’s minds.<\/em>\u201d The hologram then changed to a T-rex chasing him down city streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEvil grew, it’s part of you,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n And now it seems to be,<\/em>\u201d Eggman then \u201ctripped\u201d and turned just as the T-rex bit his head. He pretended that he was headless for a bit as he continued dancing as the rave came back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat every time I look at you,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Evil grows in me!<\/em>\u201d Eggman continued dancing, unaware that one of the ravers was out of place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Doctor,\u201d called the raver. \u201c\u2026Doctor\u2026DOCTOR EGGMAN!\u201d The \u201craver\u201d was Shockwave\u2019s holo-form. Eggman yelped and shut off the music and hologram. \u201cMay I ask you something?\u201d inquired Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOf course, Shockwave,\u201d answered Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat, pray tell, are you doing?\u201d quizzed Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m designing new weapons to defeat the Autobots,\u201d explained Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYOU are making weapons to DEFEAT the Autobots?\u201d asked Shockwave. The doubting tone was strong in her query.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d replied Eggman, a little hurt. \u201cAfter all, it\u2019s been said across the media that Dr. Julian Ivo \u2018Eggman\u2019 Robotnik has the most magnificent machines on Mobius!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDoctor,\u201d remarked Shockwave, \u201cthey actually called your failures to kill Sonic magnificent, not your robots.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cVery funny,\u201d scoffed Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI didn\u2019t joke,\u201d countered Shockwave. \u201cI stated facts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou\u2019re just jealous,\u201d argued Eggman, \u201cthat Megatron still needs me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI don\u2019t feel any jealousy,\u201d replied Shockwave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou obviously have emotions,\u201d chuckled Eggman. \u201cHow else would you explain your freak-out on Metro\u2026\u201d Shockwave then grabbed him by the shirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI don\u2019t know how that knowledge came your way, and I don\u2019t care!\u201d she hissed. \u201cYou will NOT use that against me again, if you value your internal organs!\u201d She released him roughly and stormed out of the lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Meh, what do I care?\u201d dismissed Eggman as he brushed himself off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cConstruction complete,\u201d reported the computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cExcellent!\u201d cheered Eggman. \u201cWe\u2019ll deploy them once the Autobots and Decepticons meet in the cave!\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Optimus had just gotten a report from G.U.N about Eggman in the park.
