\u201cYou must be in the main dimension,\u201d answered X-PO. \u201cI did say that the dimension you were in was a trans-reality pocket dimension. What Chell meant when she translated it as \u2018weird\u2019 was that it means that it\u2019s a universe WITHIN a universe. You guys were in the shared reality most arcade games share.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHold on,\u201d I quizzed, \u201care you telling me we were INSIDE the video games? The actual arcade machines?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExactly,\u201d replied X-PO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd we\u2019re in the \u2018real world\u2019 of this dimension?\u201d asked Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf you want to put it like that, yes,\u201d answered X-PO. \u201cIn any case, you\u2019ve got a mission to complete.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRight, we\u2019ll call back when we\u2019re done,\u201d finished Hiroki. He ended the call. \u201cWell, no point sitting on our butts. Let\u2019s find that part.\u201d We started walking around the city for a bit, looking for Heather. As we walked, we heard noises near an arcade. A young man was walking by with a green shirt with the alien from Defender<\/em> on it. He also wore a black jacket and was playing a game on his phone. He had earbuds on and was so engrossed in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo sense in not getting local knowledge,\u201d I mused. We approached the kid and I tapped him on the shoulder. The poor boy jumped a bit and took his earbuds out as he faced us. He looked a bit confused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIs there some sort of fancy convention going on?\u201d he asked. We then realized he was talking about our clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cActually, we usually dress like this,\u201d replied Hiroki. \u201cI\u2019m Hiroki, this is Livia, and that\u2019s Gandalf. Who are you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m Jake,\u201d introduced the kid, \u201cformer Retro Gaming Champ under the title of Gamer Kid.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGamer Kid?\u201d I chuckled. \u201cJust that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShort, simple, why not?\u201d asked Jake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFair enough,\u201d I conceded. At that point, we heard a rumble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat came from the old Coin-Op arcade!\u201d yelped Jake. That was when Emu and another man were tossed out and various characters and enemies from the old arcade games came out of the arcade. Still inside the arcade was a humanoid man with one single, yellow eye in his forehead and three tentacles for hair. His armor looked almost like a Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMy business here doesn\u2019t concern you,\u201d he snarled. \u201cNormally, I would say \u2018Do not interfere,\u2019 and shout \u2018Obey\u2019 a lot, but I can see that you won\u2019t listen to my old Dalek ways.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou? A Dalek?!\u201d I yelped. The creature saw us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd Livia, Gandalf, and Hiroki arrive,\u201d he sighed. \u201cI must admit, I thought I would be wrong, but it only makes sense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJust a minute,\u201d interjected Gandalf, \u201chow did you know we would come?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ve flown through the Time Vortex,\u201d answered the creature. \u201cI have the gift of prophecy. You won\u2019t succeed in you mission.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe\u2019ll see about that!\u201d declared Hiroki as we readied our Drivers. The creature pulled out a Dalek gunstick and fired at the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou WILL wait there until the appropriate time,\u201d he ordered. He then disappeared into the arcade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOkay, no WAY am I obeying,\u201d I snarled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIndeed,\u201d replied Gandalf. \u201cIf he used to be one of those unsavory Daleks, we MUST stop him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd get that belt part,\u201d continued Hiroki. \u201cWe\u2019re pressed for time. Quick intros. Hiroki Hishikawa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLivia Acqua,\u201d I introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGandalf the Grey,\u201d replied Gandalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJake, Gamer Kid,\u201d called Jake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHojo Emu,\u201d introduced Emu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cKiry\u016b Sento,\u201d finished the new man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRight, let\u2019s get in there!\u201d declared Hiroki. We came into the arcade and found the Wizard from Gauntlet<\/em>. It spoke in the usual arcade beeps with a text box translating it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGreetings, mortals,\u201d greeted the Wizard. \u201cJust as was foretold to me, a Gamer of Legend has appeared upon the anarchic uprising of the arcade.\u201d He pointed to Jake when he said that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Me?!\u201d yelped Jake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs you can see,\u201d remarked the Wizard, \u201cevil powers have possessed the heroes of these once beloved video games and the entire world needs your help in setting them free. You must find a way to banish the taint from these heroes and then defeat their games so they can return to their electronic slumber. Go now and fulfill your destiny!\u201d He zapped Jake with a spell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat was that?!\u201d called Jake as he recovered from the tingle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat,\u201d explained the Wizard, \u201cwas a spell that gave you a supply of special sodas that give you a certain power. The powers you have are laser vision, stealth, super strength, invulnerability, and speed. Farewell!\u201d The Wizard disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, what do you know?!\u201d cheered Hiroki. \u201cA new superhero\u2019s born!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhy me?\u201d moaned poor Jake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhy NOT you?\u201d asked Emu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou guys fight this kind of thing all the time, it looks like!\u201d argued Jake. \u201cI\u2019m dead weight!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNever heard of it,\u201d I remarked. Jake opened his mouth to explain. \u201cAnd, I don\u2019t want to hear about it! Nobody is useless! Your gaming knowledge will help us succeed! You can become something greater!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCan\u2019t I just think things over?!\u201d asked Jake, terrified out of his mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNerds across the world, no matter their affiliation,\u201d I argued, \u201chave been thinking things over for far too long!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTell me,\u201d pressed Gandalf, \u201cwhen did those little lights and sounds in those magic boxes become so important to you? I know of at least 16 people who are off in search of adventure! People who would love nothing better than to learn what was beyond the borders of their world! The world is not in maps, books, or plays. It\u2019s out there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI can\u2019t just go running into a fight!\u201d protested Jake. \u201cI\u2019m a gamer!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou\u2019re also a 21st century nerd,\u201d replied Hiroki. Jake snorted and leaned against the wall; arms folded. \u201cDid you know that my great-great grandfather worked for Nintendo when it was a hanafuda card company? It\u2019s true. He personally oversaw the quality of hanafuda cards and ensured that Nintendo was huge in the playing card industry. He left the company but was still invested in its interests. With his help, Nintendo followed the meaning behind its name, \u2018Leave luck to Heaven\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Half of that sounds made up,\u201d muttered Jake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOkay, truth be told,\u201d replied Hiroki, \u201cmy great-great grandfather swept the place back in the day. He still used \u2018Leave luck to Heaven\u2019 as his motto though.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll stories deserve a little embellishment,\u201d affirmed Gandalf. \u201cYou\u2019ll have a tale or two to tell when you succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCan you promise that I WILL succeed?\u201d asked Jake. The silence we gave was deafening to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo,\u201d I finally replied. \u201cAnd, if you do, you will not be the same again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI thought so,\u201d sighed Jake. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, guys, I can\u2019t help you.\u201d He then put his hands in his pockets and started going home. \u201cYou got the wrong guy,\u201d he called. When he rounded a corner, there was no doubt in our minds that he wasn\u2019t helping us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt looks like we lost our local knowledge,\u201d I muttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPerhaps it\u2019s just as well,\u201d sighed Sento. \u201cAfter all, what are we? Nerds, a wizard, a doctor, and a genius hero?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe ARE fighters,\u201d replied Emu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFor some of us, the fight is over,\u201d remarked Sento. \u201cI already beat my main bad guy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat\u2019s two endings I missed!\u201d hissed Hiroki. \u201cI gotta binge-watch when we get back to Vorton!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPardon?\u201d asked Sento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOkay, I\u2019m gonna say something that will surprise you,\u201d I answered. \u201cWe\u2019re all from different universes. In our world,\u201d I pointed to myself and Hiroki, \u201cyou, Emu, and Gandalf are fictional, seen in TV shows, movies, or read about in books.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ve called myself the Rider Encyclopedia,\u201d continued Hiroki. \u201cAnd we\u2019re all in a different universe as well. That creature was also from another universe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo way!\u201d cheered Sento as a part of his hair stuck up when he became excited. \u201cMultiverse theory is multiverse FACT?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou know about multiverse theory?\u201d asked Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m a genius theoretical physicist,\u201d answered Sento. \u201cNo scientific theory escapes me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA scientist?\u201d I quizzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd Kamen Rider,\u201d answered Emu. \u201cThat\u2019s Kamen Rider Build, the one I told you guys about when we met in those games.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh, YOU\u2019RE his successor,\u201d realized Hiroki. \u201cI went on this adventure in the middle of Emu\u2019s run. Could you show me your Rider form?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSure,\u201d replied Sento. He then took out his main belt. It was a black on with a gear on the right side of a space that had slots for two things, much like the Double Driver. On the right of the gear was a hand crank. \u201cThis is my main belt, the Build Driver,\u201d explained Sento. \u201cAnd THESE,\u201d he took out a pair of little bottles, \u201care the items I use to transform, my Fullbottles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFullbottles?\u201d chuckled Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHey, look!\u201d I called as I pointed to the red one. \u201cThat one\u2019s got a picture of a rabbit!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat on Earth is the image on the blue one?\u201d asked Gandalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat\u2019s\u2026a tank,\u201d I muttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWait, are those stickers on the caps?\u201d asked Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThese stickers,\u201d replied Sento, \u201cindicate a Best Match.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe best kind of pairing?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cExactly,\u201d confirmed Sento. \u201cOriginally, the Build Driver was used to just detect Best Matches, but I modified it to become a transformation belt.\u201d He then set the Build Driver to his waist. \u201cS\u0101, jikken o hajimeyou ka?\u201d (Now, shall we begin the experiment?) asked Sento as he put a Fullbottle in each hand. He then shook the bottles as they made a clicking sound. After a few seconds, he twisted the caps so the labels faced outside. He put the bottles into the Build Driver, the red Rabbit one first, nearest to the large gear, then the blue tank one, on the right side of the Rabbit. As he put them in, holograms of the symbols on the bottles appeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRABBIT! TANK! BEST MATCH!\u201d announced the Build Driver. A bit of music played before Sento turned the crank. We could hear machinery as Emu moved us back to make room for the glass tubes that were coming out of the gear. They formed the thing that would hold the plastic parts in model kits in front of and behind Sento and the contents of the bottles flowed through the tubes to form the parts of the suit. The front allowed the red bottles contents to form the left part of the head and eye, the right arm and shoulder with torso, and left leg while the contents of the blue bottle formed the right part of the head and eye, left arm and shoulder with torso, and right leg. The parts were forged at a diagonal. \u201cARE YOU READY?!\u201d asked the Build Driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHenshin!\u201d called Sento. The suit parts were then slammed onto Sento and the suit filled in the gaps with black armor. Sento, as Kamen Rider Build, had an interesting motif to him. His left leg had a spring and his right foot had a tank tread. His left eye and antenna looked like a bunny\u2019s head in profile with the ear sticking up and the right eye looked like a tank pointing its gun barrel upwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHAGANE NO MOONSAULT!\u201d (The Moonsault of Steel!) announced the Build Driver. \u201cRABBITTANK! YAY!\u201d Build then ran his finger along the tank eye\u2019s gun barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSh\u014dri no h\u014dsoku wa\u2026\u201d declared Build before he made his fingers splay out, \u201c\u2026kimatta!\u201d (The law of victory is set!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOkay, I\u2019m impressed,\u201d breathed Hiroki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI know, right?!\u201d cheered Sento. \u201cI’m amazing! I’m the best! I’m a genius!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd the ego comes out,\u201d sighed Hiroki. He was about to say something more when an explosion came from the arcade. \u201cCrap! Our mission!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe better get moving!\u201d I declared. We drew our i.d tags out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHenshin!\u201d we called. Emu then got his Gashat out and pressed the button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMIGHTY ACTION X!\u201d it announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDai Henshin!\u201d called Emu. He then put the Gashat into his Gamer Driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGASHATTO!\u201d shouted the belt. He then pulled the lever. \u201cGACH\u0100N! LEVEL UP! Mighty jump! Mighty kick! Mighty! MIGHTY ACTION X!\u201d He went straight to his level 2 form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLet\u2019s go!\u201d called Ex-Aid. We all charged in to see Caan trying to get away from a white car. It seemed to be shrouded by a black mist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIs that the\u2026?\u201d asked Sengoku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe G-6155 Interceptor from Spy Hunter<\/em>!\u201d I confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI LOVE that game!\u201d cheered Ex-Aid. The car then fired on us! \u201cI DON\u2019T LIKE THAT!\u201d yelped Ex-Aid as we took cover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI knew it! Couldn\u2019t resist interfering, could you?!\u201d snarled Caan. He drew a Dalek gun on us. \u201cExterminate!\u201d he shouted as he fired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBetter stay out of range,\u201d muttered Build as more piping came out of the gear on his belt. It formed a large drill with a single handle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat, in the name of sanity, is that?\u201d asked Sengoku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI call it the Rotary Sword\/Gun Drill Crusher!\u201d proclaimed Build as he took the drill head off and placed the point of the drill into a slot on the handle that was a little perpendicular to the main grip. He pulled the trigger and the shots came out in a rotary blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis is getting us nowhere!\u201d snapped Sengoku as he fired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2018Pointless\u2019 would have been the word I used,\u201d muttered Caan. \u201cJust give\u2026ARGH!\u201d He clutched his head in pain. \u201cA\u2026timeline change?!\u201d he gasped. \u201cHow?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGET OVER HERE!\u201d shouted a voice. At that exact moment, Jake jumped into the battle zone, grabbed Caan\u2019s tentacles, and threw him into the car, making the mist fade away!<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cKeep him covered,\u201d called a woman\u2019s voice. \u201cThat Strength Soda he drank won\u2019t last long. Jake? If you please? I believe 8000 points is the minimum.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGot it, Shade!\u201d replied Jake. We all turned to see a new Kamen Rider! It was a woman in obsidian armor with gold trim. Her eyes were red and her helmet was in the shape of a witch\u2019s hat. She wore a black cape and had large gauntlets. Her belt was silvery with a silver jewel in the center. Her undersuit was silver as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWho are you?!\u201d asked Gandalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDon\u2019t be rude!\u201d chided Sengoku. \u201cIntroduce yourself before you ask!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s all right,\u201d assured the woman. \u201cI was raised with an American father. Besides, I\u2019m from the future. I already know you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe future?!\u201d asked Sengoku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo way!!\u201d cheered Build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDon\u2019t bother asking me questions about the future,\u201d directed the woman. \u201cI swore an oath not to reveal things until the proper time. Temporal Prime Directive and all that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Of course,\u201d remarked Sengoku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNow then,\u201d declared the woman, \u201cI\u2019ll just introduce myself. I am Kamen Rider Shade, a magic based Rider, like Wizard.\u201d She then drew her wand and a jewel sphere, a ruby, to be precise. She leveled her wand at the sphere. \u201cOne move against Jake,\u201d she warned Caan, \u201cand I cast a spell that will allocate the explosive power of my Ruby Under-sphere to the external lattice-work. BOOM! Instant bomb that will kill us all! So, back away from the Gamer Kid!\u201d Caan snarled as he lowered his gun. \u201cThat\u2019s better,\u201d remarked Shade. \u201cAll right, you guys may ask questions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAllocate the\u2026?\u201d muttered Gandalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cQuiet, Gandalf,\u201d hissed Sengoku. \u201cShe\u2019s doing a Thing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou come here,\u201d I said to Caan, \u201cto get something for Vortech, but the search is interrupted by someone. Allocate the explosive power of your Ruby Under-sphere to the external lattice-work, making it a bomb that will explode in an instant?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat\u2019s what I said,\u201d replied Shade. \u201cOne that would kill us all!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou made that up, didn\u2019t you?\u201d muttered Caan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWHOOO!\u201d cheered Jake. \u201cHIGH SCORE! Now, see this! THIS is a real video game!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt served its distraction well,\u201d mused Shade. At that point, the Wizard appeared again, causing the car to vanish!<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSpy Hunter <\/em>was first released in arcades in 1983,\u201d translated his text box. \u201cIt is said that Spy Hunter<\/em> was originally made to be based on a popular spy movie franchise, but the license could not be acquired.\u201d He then vanished and a gate opened to reveal another section of the arcade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNow, with no further distractions\u2026\u201d declared Caan as he raised his gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo, you don\u2019t!\u201d replied Shade as she swapped her belt\u2019s jewel for the ruby in her hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUNDER-CHANGE!\u201d announced her belt. \u201cRUBY PATRIOT!\u201d Her undersuit changed to a ruby color!<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cInspired by the hot-headedness of my American father!\u201d called Shade. She then decked Caan, causing an explosion to occur on impact!<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFireworks?!\u201d yelped Sengoku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, some cultures view rubies as the July birthstone for patriots,\u201d I recalled. \u201cAnd she said she has an American dad, and they usually launch fireworks around July, so why not?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFair point,\u201d replied Sengoku.
