Bumblebee led his larger team over rough terrain. Caused by an object falling to Mobius\u2019 surface, the ride wasn\u2019t exactly comfortable. \u201cHalt!\u201d called Bumblebee as he stopped. Thundercracker transformed as he landed while Rouge and Knuckles got out of Cliffjumper. The Autobots then followed Thundercracker\u2019s example as they transformed. Cliffjumper was the only one with a look of stark surprise. Sitting in the middle of a massive crater was the remains of the Weak Anthropic Principle<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s not much,\u201d remarked Bumblebee, \u201cbut we got the rectifier coil going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTHAT\u2019S Krok\u2019s ship?!\u201d asked Cliffjumper. \u201cBut that\u2019s Vanguard<\/em>-class!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah, never really got a straight answer on how we got our hands on it,\u201d muttered Thundercracker. \u201cStill, you said you got the rectifier coil going, so there\u2019s obviously SOME power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlenty of it, we\u2019re just having trouble accessing it,\u201d replied Rouge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to have to find one of our geniuses,\u201d sighed Arcee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe find one, then we connect Teletraan 1 to this place, and then we find everyone else,\u201d outlined Bumblebee. \u201cThis will be our base for anti-Unicron operations. Besides, it has a Bridge Portal generator inside, so we can get a Ground Bridge to help us get to any disaster areas faster.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhere are we gonna find your friends?\u201d asked Thundercracker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve heard a rumor that someone\u2019s been holed up in a junkyard about 20 miles north of here,\u201d replied Bumblebee. \u201cI know rumors aren\u2019t the best leads, but it\u2019s all we\u2019ve got right now. We need to act fast. Unicron\u2019s still preparing for the tournament, and we have no idea what he\u2019s plotting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Back at Castle Unicron, arena construction suffered another hiccup. It wasn\u2019t square-shaped this time; it was circle-shaped. \u201cHOW DID ALL THESE SQUARES MAKE A CIRCLE?!\u201d shouted Nemesis Prime. \u201cI just\u2026!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo, no, it\u2019s fine,\u201d assured Unicron. \u201cIt\u2019s fine. It doesn\u2019t bother me. It DOESN\u2019T bother me\u2026it bothers me! It bothers me a lot and THAT TILE\u2019S STILL PINK!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

Thundercracker, Cliffjumper, and Arcee elected to stay behind while Bumblebee, Rouge, and Knuckles went off to the junkyard. They entered it and looked along the mounds of unusable cars, ruined trucks, and things that used to go but now won\u2019t. The machines designed to dispose of it all loomed menacingly among the twisted metal heaps. If Bumblebee ever said he wasn\u2019t scared, he was lying. It looked almost like the machinery that lined a Decepticon-controlled Smelting Pool, machines that would prevent their prisoners from ever escaping the molten metal. Bumblebee crept down the aisles in vehicle mode and found what looked the Manager\u2019s Office Building. Knuckles and Rouge stepped out and knocked on the door. \u201cIt\u2019s open,\u201d called a voice. The two then entered the office and saw someone at the desk. \u201cWelcome to Grand Mobius Salvage, how may I help\u2026? KNUCKLES?! ROUGE?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTAILS!\u201d cheered Knuckles. Tails looked like a guy who had no hope for a while. He got up from the desk and hugged the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been way too long!\u201d he chuckled. \u201cHow long have you guys been on the road?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAbout a month,\u201d explained Rouge. \u201cWe originally hunkered down in my treasure trove. For once, Knuckles was insistent on putting the Master Emerald there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou mentioned energy dampeners, I couldn\u2019t pass THAT up under the circumstances,\u201d reminded Knuckles. \u201cNever mind that, though. Tails, we need your help. We found a new base. It\u2019s the wreck of Krok\u2019s ship and we\u2019ve got enough power for something called a rectifier coil, but we need someone to help with getting power to all the necessary systems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, look no further, there are THREE who can help,\u201d answered Tails. \u201cI\u2019ve got Scattershot and Ratchet with me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPerfect! We came with Bumblebee, so he can help guide us to the new base.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen it\u2019s time for me to close up shop.\u201d Tails typed something into his computer and all systems shut down. He then picked up a pot with a single rose bloom in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEr, Tails, what\u2019s\u2026?\u201d asked Rouge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s something Cosmo left behind when she\u2026when she\u2026\u201d Tails was struggling to say the words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTails, honey?\u201d asked Rouge, concerned for her little friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026Makeshift and Rodimus Unicronus surprised the four of us. Cosmo said she\u2019d cover the retreat and gave me a single seed. She told me to take care of it and then\u2026she charged at the two and\u2026\u201d Tears welled up in his eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh, man, Tails, I\u2019m\u2026I\u2019m so sorry,\u201d sighed Knuckles as he realized what happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat was a month ago,\u201d sniffed Tails. \u201cThe three of us have been hiding out ever since. I\u2019ve been trying to find a sunny spot, but all I could get for this little thing was a solar lamp.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe should be able to get some sun at the new base,\u201d assured Rouge. \u201cAnd we\u2019ll avenge Cosmo. You can count on it!\u201d Tails looked at the thief, saw that she was genuine, then set himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLet\u2019s get the others.\u201d Tails led his friends out of the office, met Bumblebee, then led them to a concealed hangar, small enough for one jet. Coincidentally, there was a jet in it. \u201cHey, Scattershot! Up and at \u2018em!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMmh, five more minutes!\u201d mumbled the jet, Scattershot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got company. They found us a base.\u201d Scattershot then transformed and sprang out of the small hangar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen what are we waiting for?!\u201d he asked. \u201cLet\u2019s get Ratchet and get out of this dump!\u201d They all then went down the aisles and found an ambulance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRatchet!\u201d called Tails. \u201cRatchet, we found our friends!\u201d The ambulance, Ratchet, didn\u2019t stir. \u201c\u2026Ratchet?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGo away,\u201d said the medic gruffly, not even bothering to activate his holo-form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome on, Ratchet,\u201d encouraged Bumblebee as he transformed to robot mode. \u201cWe\u2019ve got some work to do!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou\u2019re interrupting my power-down,\u201d replied Ratchet. Everyone looked at each other in confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026Ratchet, come on!\u201d urged Scattershot. \u201cWe need your help to get everyone to our new base!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOnly then can we take the fight to Unicron!\u201d supplied Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe CAN\u2019T stop Unicron!\u201d barked Ratchet. \u201cNot anymore. The war is over and we\u2026lost!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou, of all people, are giving up?!\u201d wailed Bumblebee. \u201cWe can\u2019t just give up! Especially not you!\u201d Ratchet transformed and loomed over Bumblebee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen tell me what we CAN do?! Without communications?! Without a Ground Bridge?! Without a base of operations or resources of any kind?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut we DO have those things, we just need help to power it all up!\u201d argued Knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKnuckles\u2019 right!\u201d affirmed Bumblebee. \u201cWe know that the Cons had access to a Ground Bridge before they moved in with Eggman, right?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes, yes,\u201d Ratchet waved off, \u201cSoundwave clearly used the Harbinger<\/em>\u2019s Bridge Portal Generator to accomplish such a feat! The Harbinger<\/em>\u2019s been cleared out, remember?! What does that have to do with anything?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI found the Weak Anthropic Principle<\/em>! It\u2019s loaded with tech! The Metarex didn\u2019t destroy it completely! We\u2019ve got the rectifier coil going, but it\u2019s still got more untapped power! We can use it as a base of operations! It\u2019s got up-to-date Cybertronian tech you can work with! We can make our allies stronger now!\u201d Ratchet scoffed at Bumblebee\u2019s words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, resources won\u2019t be of much use! Not without someone to\u2026lead us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a start!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThen you\u2019ll have to start without me! \u2026This is someone else\u2019s fight now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere IS no one else, Ratchet! Just us! Just the team!\u201d Ratchet turned away and transformed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlease. Just let me\u2026rust in peace.\u201d Everyone stood there, not moving an inch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026Come on, guys, let\u2019s go,\u201d sighed Bumblebee. He and Scattershot transformed. Tails flew into Scattershot\u2019s rear cockpit, and Knuckles and Rouge sat inside Bumblebee. They took off, leaving Ratchet to himself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
