Enough power was restored so Endram could display the cloaking device\u2019s schematics. \u201cI must say, this is quite the device,\u201d muttered Endram. \u201cPity that such a thing is illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWAS illegal,\u201d argued Empria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLast I checked, the Dwelga Accords are still in effect,\u201d remarked Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLook, every second I worked on that project, a piece of me died, but this is war, and we need all the advantages we can get. You know the <em>Scorpion<\/em> has a cloaking device. We need to level the playing field!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf this device were constructed during the Final War,\u201d growled Aldarval, \u201cperhaps I WOULD have authorized it, with the Imperium\u2019s permission and that of all the Royal Families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHowever, that thing,\u201d continued Elgrad, \u201cwas constructed before me and my fellows declared war. 500 years before that, if I\u2019m reading the dates on the schematics right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRealmfleet Regulation 9, Paragraph 4,\u201d quoted Empria, \u201cin the event of war, all factors must be considered, and certain treaties may be suspended!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAt the determination of the Supreme Admiral,\u201d reminded Aldarval, \u201cand we weren\u2019t at war 500 years ago!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn my judgement, we were!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAt war?!\u201d asked Bashoon. \u201cWho was the enemy?! When did the All-realm Royals declare war in that time?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPirates and Splitters, that\u2019s who!\u201d answered Empria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs Bashoon mentioned,\u201d remarked Olmarfa, \u201cwe didn\u2019t declare war on them!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe were trying to lock them all up, what other conclusion could be reached?! It was the only chance we had to end their threat quickly!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd where did you obtain this permission to violate the Dwelga Accords?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFrom Rooshee! Who else?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRooshee!\u201d grunted Bashoon. \u201cHow many illegal operations did she have her fingers in?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEmpria, there was a mutiny you asked me and Twirja to help cover up!\u201d hissed Endram. \u201cI want to know the details of that mutiny! I want to know why we were tricked into sacrificing our arms for a damn cloaking device!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe had others helping us get you out of this boat!\u201d roared Twirja. \u201cStart talking!\u201d Empria sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs I said, Rooshee, with permission from then-Chancellor Garsheek, authorized me to construct a cloaking device. She told me that it was a tenth level code black operation as she didn\u2019t want everyone to know about our breach just yet until I reported the results. \u2026Unfortunately, one of my lieutenants, an Incubus by the name of Rolto, managed to find the schematics. I told him that we needed to stay secret about this, but he had a Goblin husband at the time, a high-ranking politician, and felt his loyalties to him were greater than his oath to Realmfleet. He copied the schematics and was about to transmit them to his husband, but a security team managed to intercept the transmission, prevent it from being completed, and traced it to him. I had him stripped of rank and thrown in the brig. The problem was, he told other people before he was arrested. They broke him out and staged a mutiny. \u2026I think Endram and Twirja can explain the rest.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re not letting you off that easy!\u201d snarled Endram. \u201cAs your King, I\u2019m ordering YOU to finish the story!\u201d Empria sighed before continuing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe cloaking device was wired to the engines. I was the only one who could shut it down safely, but the mutineers wouldn\u2019t listen. I got others on my side, particularly those that I gave clearance to know about the project, and we tried to stop them from disconnecting the device, but it was too late. The explosion took the mutineers\u2019 lives, and the shrapnel took the lives of a few on my side while harming the others, Endram and Twirja being the most immediate examples.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRolto was my best friend in Realmfleet, and you made me deaf to his explanations!\u201d snarled Twirja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou made a good deal of us turn on our friends,\u201d continued Endram, \u201cand break our oath to preserve the peace of the Realms both from without AND within! You made us turn on our brothers and sisters as they were trying to correct a wrong!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEvery day, I honored your sacrifice, old friend!\u201d pleaded Empria. Twirja then grabbed her by the front of her dress and brought her to his face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLIAR! YOU SPAT ON THAT SACRIFICE EVERY SINGLE DAY SINCE THAT DEBACLE! NOW, THANKS TO YOU, OUR GOOD NAME IS FOREVER SULLIED! I OUGHT TO\u2026!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTWIRJA! PUT HER DOWN!\u201d shouted Endram. Twirja glared at Endram, then put her back in her seat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEmpria Dewlna, if this ship is still under the effects of the cloaking device, then you will tell us how to uninstall it. After that, we\u2019re going to destroy it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou can\u2019t do that!\u201d protested Empria. \u201cIf the Imperium hears of this\u2026!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey already have!\u201d interjected Bashoon. \u201cI had a line open for Chancellor Penshek and he\u2019s already met with the Majestics. They\u2019re going along with the decisions of Realmfleet and the Over-realm Royal Family on this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn that case, Empria Dewlna,\u201d proclaimed Endram, \u201cyou are charged with violation of the Dwelga Accords. As King of the Over-realm, I\u2019m placing you under arrest! You will instruct Thangred on how to uninstall the cloaking device safely, so we don\u2019t have another explosion. After which, you will be relieved of your titles and land as you will live the rest of your life in prison!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYour Majesty, I wish to join them,\u201d called Twirja, \u201cI want to see that thing destroyed once it\u2019s removed.\u201d Endram turned to Denstra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYour Majesty, give him that form of peace,\u201d she urged. \u201cIt\u2019s been haunting him for too long.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVery well. Know this, Empria, those that knew about this and still helped you despite that knowledge will be punished as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYour Majesty, please, show them leniency!\u201d pleaded Empria. \u201cLike you, they were acting under my orders!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen they made the same mistake as Twirja and I have done! Thangred, Twirja, take her to the engine room!\u201d Thangred and Twirja flanked Empria as she remained in her seat for only a few seconds. She then stood up and headed to the door with the two men behind her. She stopped and turned back to look at Endram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Final War would have been over a lot quicker,\u201d she remarked. \u201cYou just extended it by two years.\u201d She then left them with Thangred and Twirja following close behind. Aldarval sat down, then ran her hands down her face. Erudsa then placed a sympathetic hand on the Troll\u2019s shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI went through a similar incident once I became Queen,\u201d she remarked. \u201cIt\u2019s tough when those you trust betray you like that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026Yeah, it is,\u201d sighed Aldarval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere IS one upside to all this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat\u2019s that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ve proved that you want all of Realmfleet to adhere to the principles it\u2019s set out. That\u2019s the mark of a good leader.
