Kong and Saurion were just hammering away at each other, trying to tear wires out of their opponent\u2019s joints. \u201cI have to tell you, Saurion, you\u2019re giving cosmic rust a bad name!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPrimal, you are too flippant for my tastes!\u201d growled Saurion as he pulled out a Cyber Key. \u201cI think I preferred you when you were a mindless animal!\u201d He flicked the Key into the air. \u201cCYBER KEY POWER!\u201d The Key inserted itself into the back of his beast mode\u2019s head and it moved from his shoulder to become a new forearm. The jaws then opened to reveal a laser weapon inside the throat. Saurion fired his new weapon as Kong transformed to beast mode and rolled out of the way. He transformed back into robot mode and flicked his own Cyber Key into the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCYBER KEY POWER!\u201d called the boss monkey. The key inserted itself into his back and deployed missile launchers. Kong Primal fired and scored a direct hit on Saurion, knocking the Predacon back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With Optimus and Megatron, their melee weapons were swinging into each other. \u201cYou just couldn\u2019t stay out of this, could you?!\u201d growled Megatron as he tried to get his mace untangled from Optimus\u2019 axes. \u201cYou had to interfere in local planetary business!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have allies, just as you do!\u201d retorted Optimus as he yanked hard, pulling Megatron face first to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWorthless idiots!\u201d Megatron then swung his arm out and tripped Optimus up. Optimus transformed and barreled through Megatron. It was then that Megatron started shorting out! \u201cWh-what?!\u201d he managed to get out. Saurion then suffered the same problem, as did all Decepticons and Predacons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEnergon Field Build-up!\u201d strained Saurion. \u201cThe hunt has gone too long!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDECEPTICONS! PREDACONS! RETREAT!\u201d shouted Megatron. The Decepticons and Predacons transformed to their alt-modes and took off. The Maximals then helped the Autobots to their feet before they all transformed to their alt-modes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll right!\u201d cheered Cheetor. \u201cBeast or bot, we\u2019re STILL the baddest! YEAH!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd it looks like things are about to return to normal,\u201d observed Rhinox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaybe, even better!\u201d Kong Primal then gave off a roar of victory and pounded his chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHold off on the victory party!\u201d called Optimus. \u201cKong Primal, was it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, and you are?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m Optimus Prime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPRIME?!\u201d squeaked Rattrap in a panic. The Maximals then transformed and saluted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs you were,\u201d replied Optimus. The Maximals returned to beast mode. \u201cLook, Grimlock\u2019s made a startling discovery. I think we better discuss it in Fortress Maximus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once they were briefed about Saurion\u2019s theft of Animatros\u2019 Cyber Planet Key and the other Maximals having fled the city with their programming blocks still up, Kong\u2019s troops went back to Maximal City to help Nightscream. Knuckles accompanied them on the way. \u201cMan!\u201d complained Rattrap as they trudged through the jungle. \u201cAll this for a lousy oversized Cyber Key!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat IS the deal with it, anyway?\u201d asked Knuckles. \u201cIt\u2019s clearly important to you guys in general.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Cyber Planet Key, Mr. Knuckles,\u201d explained Kong, \u201cis Animatros\u2019 most carefully guarded relic. It\u2019s the greatest source of earth-based magic among the Transformers. That\u2019s why Saurion stole it!\u201d That last sentence was directed at Rattrap, seeming wholly unconcerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, like I care!\u201d he said. \u201cYou know, we were supposed to be doing deep-space exploration on the Axalon<\/em>! Playing home-world defense was nowhere in MY job description, you know what I\u2019m saying? You sure you\u2019re cut out for this commander gig?\u201d Kong sighed in annoyance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRemember the Great War, Rattrap! If the Predacons and Decepticons tap into the Cyber Planet Key\u2019s power, they end this one in THEIR favor! We can\u2019t let that happen!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBesides, you wanted exploration,\u201d remarked Knuckles, \u201cand now, here you are with an organic alien life-form. What more do you want?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, call me picky,\u201d snarked Rattrap, \u201cbut an organic alien my size would be nice!\u201d Kong ran his hand down his face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJust no pleasing some people,\u201d he sighed once more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMr. Knuckles, why don\u2019t you climb up here?\u201d offered Rhinox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou sure?\u201d asked Knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPositive, it would be no trouble at all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI think I\u2019ll take you up on that.\u201d Knuckles hopped onto Rhinox\u2019s back. Soon, the Maximals and their passenger made it to Maximal City. Tigatron tensed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt now feels strange to see an artificial structure,\u201d he muttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, we\u2019re gonna have to get in there and try and fix up the Predacons\u2019 damage,\u201d remarked Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSo, hurry up and open the doors!\u201d called a voice ahead of them. \u201cI\u2019m waiting!\u201d They all yelped and whirled around to see Sonic smirking at the City Gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSONIC?!\u201d cried Knuckles. \u201cHOW DID YOU-no, wait, no, I know exactly how you got here. I guess the REAL question is why?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDo you know how little of Nebulos I saw?!\u201d replied Sonic. \u201cI\u2019m not missing out on this planet!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDoes Optimus know you\u2019re here?\u201d asked Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSure he does! He\u2019s cool with it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Optimus presented a hastily scrawled note to Tails. \u201cGoing for a run. Meeting with the Maximals. Catch you later,\u201d read the note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSonic?\u201d asked Tails with a deadpan voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSonic,\u201d replied Optimus in the same voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHow long were you here?!\u201d asked Cheetor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAbout 45 minutes,\u201d remarked Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWHAT?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSonic\u2019s maximum speed,\u201d replied Knuckles, \u201ccan make a sonic boom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSo THAT\u2019S why he\u2019s called Sonic,\u201d mused Rhinox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, I mean, it ain\u2019t inaccurate,\u201d remarked Rattrap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNO WAY!\u201d snarled Cheetor. \u201cHEY! BLUE BOY! HOW\u2019S ABOUT YOU GET A TASTE OF THE GOLDEN ROCKET?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUh oh,\u201d gulped Knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh? Is that a challenge I hear?\u201d chuckled Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHere it comes!\u201d sighed Knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFirst one to that mountain is the winner!\u201d Cheetor pointed his paw to a mountain in the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA mere jog!\u201d taunted Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh no!\u201d groaned Rattrap. The rest of the Maximals followed suit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh yeah?! Prove it!\u201d challenged Cheetor. The cheetah-bot and blue Hedgehog then prepared for a run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHere we\u2026GO!\u201d called Sonic. The instant Sonic said \u201cGO!\u201d, the two took off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCHEETOR, NO!\u201d yelled Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSONIC, DON\u2019T TAKE THE and you took the bait,\u201d sighed Knuckles. Kong Primal activated his comms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCheetor! Return to the city immediately!\u201d he ordered. \u201cWe don\u2019t have time for this!\u201d His reply was met with static. \u201c\u2026Cheetor?! Please respond!\u201d He then recalled something Grimlock said during the briefing. \u201cOh, that\u2019s right, they had to report to Optimus via laser signal. The comms towers are out. That\u2019s just prime!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSo, uh, this your first day on the job or what?\u201d snarked Rattrap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShut up, Rattrap.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh, yes, SIR! You know, I feel just HEAPS better knowing that our lives are in your capable hands! \u2026We\u2019re all gonna die.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAirazor, take Rattrap with you and get Cheetor and Sonic back here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou got it, Big Bot,\u201d replied Airazor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHey!\u201d protested Rattrap. \u201cI ain\u2019t the kid\u2019s babysitteeaaaAAAAAHHH!\u201d Airazor\u2019s talons scooped up Rattrap by the front legs and carried him off into the sky. \u201cIF I WANTED TO FLY, I\u2019D BE A BAT, NOT A RAT!\u201d wailed Rattrap.
