Sonic and Cheetor raced through the jungle that stood between Maximal City and the mountain. \u201cYou\u2019re too slow!\u201d taunted Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, please! How many seconds behind are you again?!\u201d laughed Cheetor. He then looked ahead, as did Sonic, and they saw Inferno in beast mode! They quickly went behind her and turned to face her. Cheetor transformed to bot mode and leveled his gun at her. He then fired on her. Inferno just shrugged it off as she turned to face her enemies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFOOL! Pain is my friend! Allow me to introduce YOU to it!\u201d she cackled as she went to bot mode. She then leveled twin flame throwers at her opponents and fired explosive blasts. Sonic and Cheetor got out of the way. Inferno then heard a screech and turned her head skywards to see Airazor swooping down with Rattrap screaming in their talons. \u201cInvaders from the air!\u201d she cackled. \u201cMore meat for the Colony!\u201d She fired at the two airborne Maximals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWE\u2019RE ALL GONNA DIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!!\u201d screamed Rattrap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIsn\u2019t there a rule,\u201d snapped Airazor as they dodged Inferno\u2019s shots, \u201cthat heroes have to face destruction with dignity?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey! What\u2019s the use of dying if you can\u2019t enjoy it?\u201d Airazor simply released their grip on Rattrap and let him fall screaming. Rattrap then recovered enough of his wits, transformed to robot mode, and kicked Inferno in her face. He then looked to Cheetor and Sonic. \u201cYou kids okay?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoing fine,\u201d replied Cheetor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on! Let\u2019s scrap her!\u201d called Sonic. He then spin-dashed Inferno right in the face, knocking a few of her teeth out. Rattrap whistled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot too shabby there, Blue Boy,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey, Cheetor! Your turn!\u201d called Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCYBER KEY POWER!\u201d called Cheetor as he invoked his Cyber Key. The Key inserted itself into his shoulder and turned, deploying curved swords from the shoulders. Cheetor then ran around Inferno and managed to slice off the jet engine inside her abdomen. Inferno howled in pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy turn!\u201d called Airazor. They swooped down, grabbed Inferno, and threw her into a tree, knocking her out cold. They then prepared their wrist rockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey, hey!\u201d called Rattrap. \u201cAn opportunity like this don\u2019t come but once in a lifetime, you know?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOpportunity for what?\u201d asked Cheetor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on, Spots! Use your head! Remember when I talked about being a Memory Sifter?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah, right!\u201d scoffed Rattrap. \u201cAren\u2019t you the one who burns all the trees in the name of your \u2018Queen\u2019?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m with Rattrap! Let\u2019s get her!\u201d called Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe bird\u2019s actions,\u201d continued Inferno, \u201cknocked some of my previous memories to the forefront.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat, now you\u2019re a goody two-shoes?\u201d snarked Rattrap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYeah, yeah, story of my life! All right, Mandibles, sit down and open the back of your head.\u201d Inferno did so and powered down. Rattrap inserted the back of his tail as he put a helmet on. He lowered the helmet\u2019s visor and began his work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Kong, Rhinox, Tigatron, and Knuckles made their way through the empty city. \u201cI gotta say, I think I\u2019d prefer the hustle and bustle,\u201d muttered Knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d mused Rhinox, \u201cunder better circumstances, I\u2019d enjoy the peace and quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere\u2019s the Council Chambers,\u201d called Kong as he pointed to a door. \u201cThat\u2019s where Nightscream was last seen.\u201d They cautiously entered the room and looked around. Knuckles then looked up to see Nightscream snoozing on the ceiling. He quietly got the attention of the Maximals and pointed upwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt seems his beast mode\u2019s starting to affect him,\u201d rumbled Rhinox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not the beast mode, it\u2019s the program block,\u201d replied Tigatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Access Nightscream\u2019s Core Consciousness,\u201d Kong ordered his personal computer. \u201cPasscode: Kong Primal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPasscode: accepted,\u201d came the reply. It startled Nightscream into waking up and screeching while flying around the room. Tigatron then jumped up to Nightscream and brought him down, pinning him to the table. Nightscream continued screeching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cENOUGH!\u201d shouted Rhinox. Nightscream stopped making noise and looked to Rhinox. \u201c\u2026You\u2019re scared, Young Nightscream, but we\u2019re here to help.\u201d At this point, Tigatron sensed Nightscream was calm enough to hear his fellow Maximals out. \u201cYou fear your beast mode, but it\u2019s part of you, just as ours are part of us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe programming block we all got as Sparklings?\u201d continued Kong, \u201cwe don\u2019t need them. We\u2019re both beasts AND bots. That block has been suppressing our beast side when they should be partners. There\u2019s a way to get both beast and robot forms together, the first step is to merely delete the programming block.\u201d Nightscream blinked, then he sent a mental command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cProgramming block: deleted,\u201d reported his computer. His bat face then softened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think I get it now!\u201d he sighed happily. \u201cThank you, Sir!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt looks like the Dyno-bots fixed what they could,\u201d remarked Rhinox as he looked at the repaired consoles. \u201cWe can pick up where they left off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe other Maximals!\u201d yelped Nightscream. \u201cWhere are they?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStill out in the jungle,\u201d replied Tigatron. \u201cIf we can gather them back here, we can fix what Saurion did.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut Saurion still has-!\u201d Nightscream stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve all forgotten,\u201d interrupted Kong, \u201cbut the Maximal Elders were the first casualties along with the Tripredacus Council! We\u2019re the senior Maximals here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCould someone explain what or who the Oracle is?!\u201d snapped Knuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
