\u201cRelax, this was merely covering my bets, yes.\u201d A Huntsman spider then approached them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAirachnid, TERRORIZE!\u201d Her transformation was different from most Spider-based Animatronians. Her legs went to her back as the rear unfolded into legs while the underside folded to the sides and became arms. The head split down the middle with a fang on each side and became shoulder armor while a head with a helmet that evoked Maleficent popped up. \u201cWaspinator and Terrorsaur are returning, Lord Saurion,\u201d she reported in a slight purr.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood.\u201d Waspinator and Terrorsaur then approached the group in their beast modes. Terrorsaur\u2019s rear was singed and Waspinator was missing a pair of legs. \u201cStatus report on Hydran!\u201d demanded Saurion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDragon-bot zzzneezzzed out a big one,\u201d buzzed Waspinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen the virus actually works!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTake it from me,\u201d whimpered Terrorsaur. \u201cI\u2019ve got the toasted tail to prove it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExcellent! Yes!\u201d Scorponok then approached the group. Saurion turned to Airachnid and Scorponok. \u201cPrepare more of the virus immediately! We must infect more Maximals if they do not acquiesce to my demands!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd your demands are\u2026?\u201d ventured Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo be the new Flame Convoy, effective at once! Animatros needs to be a Decepticon ally, thus it needs a leader most like a Decepticon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAbout the virus,\u201d gulped Airachnid, \u201cthere IS a problem. Tarantulas can\u2019t be found.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd, like a good war-time scientist,\u201d continued Scorponok, \u201che\u2019s encoded his data-trax. Shockwave and I can\u2019t access them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTHEN FIND HIM!\u201d bellowed Saurion. \u201cStart with his lab! Search everywhere! I WANT! THAT! VIRUS!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hydran was taken to the Repair Bay aboard Fortress Maximus. Ratchet and his medical staff examined him and the Maximals that carried him. Optimus, Kong, Grimlock, Galen, and Sonic waited outside. Ratchet then met with them. \u201cDid you find anything?\u201d asked Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhatever he has,\u201d reported Ratchet, \u201cit isn\u2019t contagious. But, given the symptoms Kong described and what we found, it\u2019s clearly an Energon Discharge virus of unknown type.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEnergon Discharge?\u201d asked Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh no,\u201d groaned Grimlock. \u201cSwoop had one once.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe told me the grim details,\u201d replied Ratchet. \u201cTo answer your question, Sonic, an Energon Discharge virus attacks the internal Energon reserves. If left unchecked, he\u2019ll spontaneously expel his Energon until his reserves are depleted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCan you cure it?\u201d asked Galen. A noise then came out of the Repair Bay. It sounded like someone winding up for a sneeze!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHIT THE DECK!\u201d called Kong. The sneeze then erupted from the Repair Bay with a stream of energy blasting the door down. Inside, the Medical Staff had already taken cover as Hydran wiped his olfactory sensors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026It\u2019s an artificial virus of unknown origin,\u201d explained Ratchet as everyone picked each other up and went inside the Repair Bay. \u201cThere isn\u2019t a cure readily available.\u201d Hydran then sneezed again! The sneeze nearly took Optimus\u2019 head off! Hydran sneezed again! And again! And again! He couldn\u2019t stop for a good long while! His sneezes were destroying the Repair Bay, consoles, screens, and all! Everyone took cover behind the Repair Berths. Hydran\u2019s sneezes then blew their cover\u2026quite literally. The sneezes stopped as Hydran rubbed his optics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cQUICK! GO TO BEAST MODE!\u201d called Sonic. Hydran then transformed. For while, all was calm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Phew! That\u2019s better!\u201d sighed the Flame Convoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood thinking, Sonic,\u201d praised Optimus. \u2026No it wasn\u2019t. Hydran still sneezed out some of his Energon. The shot put a hole in the wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Gesundheit,\u201d bid Grimlock. \u201cGuys, maybe we should have him somewhere less\u2026vulnerable?\u201d Backstop pulled a scanner out of the rhino head on his right shoulder and waved it over Hydran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHis internal Energon reserves are fading fast!\u201d he reported. \u201cIf we don\u2019t find a counter-virus soon-\u201d Hydran sneezed- \u201che\u2019ll not only tear up the base, but himself as well!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen we need to send out our best scouts,\u201d declared Grimlock. \u201cI\u2019ll send out Slash.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd I\u2019ll have Rattrap join the hunt,\u201d offered Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWait a cycle!\u201d called Optimus. \u201cI\u2019ve seen those two argue! There is NO way that\u2019s a good idea!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey! Prime! Incoming message!\u201d called Teletraan through the comms. \u201cIt\u2019s Tarantulas!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPut him through!\u201d ordered Optimus. Tarantulas\u2019 voice then cackled throughout the comms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy dear Maximals, you\u2019re probably wondering who made the Energon Discharge virus your precious Hydran is afflicted with. Well, wonder no more!\u201d He cackled again. \u201cFor those of you who are significantly slow, even for a mere Maximal or Autobot, I<\/em> created the virus! I DO have a counter-virus, but unless you make me the new Flame Convoy, not that stupid Saurion as he originally planned, more Maximals will be infected! Consider my offer!\u201d He cackled as the message ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Given the circumstances, Rattrap and Slash were still sent out together, much to the two\u2019s consternation. They started their search near where the Maximals fired on the retreating Predacons. \u201cYou sure about this, Chopperface?\u201d asked Rattrap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI inflicted considerable damage on Tarantulas as we fired on the Predacons,\u201d answered Slash. \u201cGiven the distance between here and wherever he was around Fortress Maximus, he couldn\u2019t have gone far. And he will, no doubt, have the counter-virus!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYeah? Well, you better hope so, for YOUR sake!\u201d Slash twitched angrily at Rattrap\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cExcuse me?\u201d She then fully faced the robot rat. \u201cAre you implying that the current situation is somehow MY responsibility?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, you didn\u2019t exactly stop Saurion from firing that virus-activator, Gear Head!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI didn\u2019t exactly see you raising a finger to stop him either, Cheese Lips!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh no, you ain\u2019t pinning YOUR mistake on ME! YOU started this, you oversized iguana!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI beg to differ, Mouse!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The argument could be heard over the comms. Optimus, Kong, and Grimlock heard every detail. \u201cPre-evolved bird brain!\u201d hissed Rattrap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEater of garbage!\u201d retorted Slash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSheesh,\u201d muttered Optimus, \u201cand I thought I<\/em> was immature back in the day. Hey, Kong, Grimlock, are you two sure it was a good idea sending those two out together?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo be honest, no,\u201d replied Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMe neither,\u201d supplied Kong. \u201cBut their squabbling\u2019s caused problems in the past. At least, this time, our situation wasn\u2019t caused by them. They\u2019ll either learn to work together or they\u2019ll destroy each other.\u201d Hydran then sneezed somewhere far off, causing chunks of the ceiling to fall on the three leaders.
