\u201cAnd given how many went down his neck,\u201d continued Grimlock, \u201cit\u2019s clear that he\u2019s really going to town on the Autobots!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s hope they\u2019re buying us enough time!\u201d muttered Drift. She then sensed something behind her. \u201cHere come more! Follow them!\u201d They all dived down the hole and followed the brain impulses\u2019 path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTHERE IT IS!\u201d cheered Perceptor. Right below them, though massive to them, was the Heart of Cybertron, wired up just above Starscream\u2019s Spark Chamber! The brain impulses then entered the Heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starscream continued firing the Heart of Cybertron at the Autobots. They were being knocked down left, right, and center! He was clearly enjoying himself. \u201cThis ain\u2019t good!\u201d grunted Optimus as the medics got the wounded to the Repair Bay. \u201cWe\u2019re losing too many! Activate the force-field!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPrime, what if Perceptor didn\u2019t get enough time?!\u201d argued Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have no choice!\u201d Optimus then activated the force-field. The generator summoned a yellow energy dome and surrounded the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s rip the wires and get out of here!\u201d urged Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo!\u201d hissed Perceptor. \u201cLook at the wiring! He\u2019s turned himself into a bomb! One wrong move, and the area\u2019s rubble!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starscream advanced on Optimus and Sonic. \u201cDo you think that a mere force-field can stop me?!\u201d he laughed. \u201cThe Hero of Mobius and the Youngest Prime, the greatest cowards of all! That thing can\u2019t withstand my power for long! Are you too special to fight?! Well, if you won\u2019t come out\u2026I\u2019ll just have to break on through!\u201d He raised his hand, ready to fire the Heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perceptor grabbed a wire and yanked it away from the Heart. Nothing happened yet, both good and bad. Deadlock then yanked Perceptor away as brain impulses entered the Heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The energy erupted from Starscream\u2019s fingers and struck the force-field. It didn\u2019t even budge. \u201cHm, I guess I need to use a little more power,\u201d he mused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThanks, Deadlock,\u201d panted Perceptor. He ripped another wire away from the Heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPerceptor, DUCK!\u201d called Grimlock. Perceptor dove out of the way, but he still accomplished what Grimlock wanted as more brain impulses ran into the Heart. This time, they didn\u2019t stop coming, making Perceptor pull his hand back more than once when he reached for the last wire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starscream continued his assault on the force-field. \u201cWe\u2019re losing it!\u201d called Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on, Perceptor!\u201d prayed Optimus as he adjusted the force-field\u2019s frequency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The brain impulses wouldn\u2019t stop rushing past the team. \u201cStarscream must be pounding the living daylights out of them!\u201d gulped Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on!\u201d Perceptor urged himself. \u201cOne last wire!\u201d The background energy was overwhelming him. \u201cCan\u2019t\u2026make it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starscream was still firing the energies of the Heart at the force-field. Just then, the force-field cracked and shattered, the whole thing dissipating into thin air. \u201cHAH!\u201d cheered Starscream. \u201cSay hello to oblivion!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The brain impulses finally stopped. Perceptor picked himself up and crawled towards the wire. \u201cGot to\u2026disconnect it!\u201d he strained as he reached towards it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all over, Prime!\u201d cackled Starscream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot until everyone who resists you is erased from the universe, Starscream!\u201d challenged Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy sentiments exactly! You\u2019re finished!\u201d Starscream raised his hands above his head, then swung them down as if he were throwing something\u2026but nothing happened. Starscream was confused, so he tried again, and again, and again, then he stared at his hands in horror. \u201cWhat in\u2026?! Diagnostics! Why isn\u2019t the Heart responding?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Heart of Cybertron,\u201d explained his onboard computer, \u201chas been disconnected by microscopic organisms of similar shapes to Autobot Perceptor, a human woman, Dyno-bot Grimlock, and assassin Deadlock.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWHAT?!\u201d yelped Starscream. Optimus only saw the horror on his face, but he guessed correctly on what happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPerceptor did it!\u201d he cheered. Starscream then glared at Optimus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou shrunk them down and had that Maximal throw their container at me so they could infiltrate my body!\u201d he accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBingo!\u201d confirmed Optimus. \u201cNow the Heart of Cybertron can\u2019t be controlled by you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, if I die, at least they die with me!\u201d Starscream then fired his null rays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHa HA! We did it!\u201d cheered Deadlock, smiling for once. Then, something odd happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey, is it my imagination,\u201d asked Grimlock, \u201cor is everything closing in on us?!\u201d The room looked like it was shrinking!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh no, it\u2019s us!\u201d realized Shahra. \u201cThe spell\u2019s wearing off! We\u2019re returning to our normal size! We gotta get out of here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDeadlock, TRANSFORM!\u201d Deadlock\u2019s shoulder pads swung up and came together to cover her head, then her arms folded into the shoulder pads, then her feet and legs folded to become her vehicle mode\u2019s rear. After transforming, she hit the gas and barreled forward towards a wall. Grimlock managed to get a hold on the Heart and hoisted it above his head. She broke through and her teammates followed her out of Starscream. Once outside, they all grew to normal size and saw Starscream clutching the wound Deadlock gave him from inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUm, excuse us!\u201d apologized Shahra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYOU FILTHY RETRO-RATS!\u201d shrieked Starscream. He then transformed and flew off in a rage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe\u2019s getting away!\u201d called Sonic. \u201cStop him!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo! Wait!\u201d replied Deadlock. \u201cWe\u2019ve got the Heart of Cybertron!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut Starscream\u2019s use of it during his assault,\u201d continued Perceptor, \u201chas caused it to destabilize! It could explode at any second!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGet rid of it!\u201d ordered Optimus. Grimlock threw the Heart into the air and Perceptor transformed, his microscope lens tracking its trajectory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne thousand miles!\u201d he reported. \u201cFifteen hundred miles! Two thousand miles!\u201d He then fired a laser blast at it. The Heart of Cybertron then exploded causing a brilliant light to fill the sky. Praxus was safe. Optimus released a breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd that\u2019s why you\u2019re a sniper,\u201d he praised as Perceptor transformed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo you realize we just saved Starscream\u2019s life by doing that?\u201d asked Shahra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSomeone saved ALL our lives,\u201d replied Grimlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWho?\u201d asked Optimus, expecting a remark about how he saved the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAsk Perceptor all about it.\u201d \u2026Optimus rebooted his audio receptors to make sure he heard that right. \u201cAnd make sure you ask my buddy politely, more so than I did, because anyone who thinks he isn\u2019t a hero is gonna have to answer to ME!\u201d He wrapped his arm around Perceptor\u2019s shoulder, unnerving the poor bot at this change of behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cErm, Grimlock\u2026\u201d he gulped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPerceptor, I owe you an apology. I was wrong about you. I thought only the smartest of my Dyno-bots were scientists worth respecting and you just proved me wrong today. Scientists of all types demonstrate their courage with their brains instead of their brawn.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, you now hypothesize that courage IS in my \u201cfancy\u201d vocabulary?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Yeah, and I got all the evidence I need to support it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSplendid! Apology accepted!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou all did good today,\u201d praised Optimus. \u201cPerceptor, Shahra, Deadlock, and Grimlock, you just saved Cybertron and took down a major threat. Now we can concentrate on getting into the Vector Sigma Chamber before Megatron does.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen do we move out?\u201d asked Deadlock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur Metrotitans are all fixed up, so we leave once our medical staff fixes everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood. Then there\u2019s only one problem to address.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026What\u2019s that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
