\u201cAt once, Starscream,\u201d replied Skywarp. Starscream then transformed and flew through the hole in the ceiling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh no, you don\u2019t!\u201d snarled Optimus. He, Megatron, and Vector Sigma then flew upwards and gave chase. Megatron fired at Starscream\u2019s thrusters, making him fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStarscream?!\u201d Skywarp called over the comms as all the Arti-Voks ran for the War-world. \u201cStarscream, come in! \u2026Strago!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat is it?!\u201d asked Sunstorm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI lost communications with Starscream! Unicron\u2019s back in his old body and is on his way, according to recent readings!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Back with Optimus and Megatron\u2019s forces, including the Metrotitans, they were still stumbling around after Vector Sigma\u2019s broadcast. \u201cHe\u2026he\u2026\u201d mumbled Ratchet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe did what was necessary,\u201d replied Prowl. \u201cOptimus and Megatron can\u2019t order another prolonged battle, not with our survival at stake.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, Vector Sigma took it upon himself to destroy our faith?! Prowl, we needed that!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNone of us were the ones who reawakened Vector Sigma fully,\u201d remarked Shockwave. \u201cIs it really our place to be angry with him?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt most certainly IS! Th-There HAD to have been another way!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He, Optimus, and Vector Sigma approached the crowd after going through the door during Ratchet\u2019s breakdown. The two leaders looked at the sullen faces. \u201c\u2026Autobots, Decepticons,\u201d began Megatron, \u201cmy faith in Primus was just as shattered as yours when Vector Sigma told us the truth about our war. I will admit, I feel as if the Gods spat on the sacrifices I\u2019ve made, but I intend to prove to them how much of a mistake that was!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lugnut, Dirt Boss, Mole Dive, and Thunderblast! They abandoned us!\u201d Megatron drew in a breath, then sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLet them go for now,\u201d he ordered. \u201cWe\u2019ll hunt them down in due course. In the meantime, we must find another flagship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI have something that may help us in that regard,\u201d offered Shockwave, \u201cand give us a little more firepower than the Nemesis<\/em> could offer.\u201d As Scorponok and Trypticon led their teams to their respective assignments, Shockwave led Megatron and Optimus to a secret hangar\u2026which was a surprise, given that the hangar was so large. The ship itself was three times the size of the Nemesis<\/em>, had a tall bridge tower, a bow shaped like a hand opened as if it were reaching for something, and massive engines powering the warp field generators on its wings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ve never seen such a design before!\u201d breathed Megatron. \u201cWhat is it?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe often talked about but never confirmed Kaon<\/em>-class vessel,\u201d replied Shockwave. \u201cOfficially, it\u2019s classified as a Decepticon Heavy Transport. That was just something to confuse Autobot intelligence. In reality, the Kaon<\/em>-class vessel is a warship with a cloaking device, nothing more, nothing less.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA cloaking device?\u201d asked Optimus. \u201cNo wonder the project was abandoned. The Galactic Council outlawed cloaking devices while our war was raging.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat ban was simply the official reason,\u201d corrected Shockwave. \u201cYou see, five years before the ban, we began exploring the possibility of building a new class of starship. This ship would have minimal families, minimal science labs, minimal luxuries of all kinds. It was designed for one purpose only: to fight and defeat the Go-bots. The namesake of the class, the Kaon<\/em>, was the prototype, the first ship in what would have been the Worldsweeper<\/em>-class\u2019s replacement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSo, what happened?\u201d asked Optimus. \u201cWhere IS the Kaon <\/em>anyway?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOptimus is right, I don\u2019t see the registry number,\u201d remarked Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Kaon<\/em> was scrapped a while ago, but I kept this particular vessel when the project was abandoned, thanks to the Go-bot threat becoming less urgent. Also, some design flaws cropped up during the Kaon<\/em>\u2019s shakedown cruise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat sort of design flaws?\u201d asked Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou, Optimus, and the engineers will have complete access to the ship evaluation reports, my Lord, but to put it simply, it\u2019s overpowered and over gunned for a ship its size. During battle drills, it nearly tore itself apart when the engines were tested at full capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd you think this should be the new flagship of the Decepticon fleet?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWith engineers at my side, we should be able to shore up the design flaws before Tornedron gets here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m afraid you\u2019re going to have to work on it while it\u2019s going through space,\u201d remarked Optimus. \u201cI\u2019m requesting that Cybertron be represented on the Galactic Council. While you were talking, Shockwave, I received a Council Report that Unicron had devoured Quintessa before departing for Cybertron, making the crew of one ship the last Quintessons. It\u2019s an all-male crew, regretfully, and they don\u2019t have enough resources to colonize a new world. I\u2019m going to offer them the hand of friendship and help them take revenge on Unicron\u2026and present what we\u2019ve learned to the Council, asking them for help in the process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOptimus, there is NO way the Council will listen to us!\u201d argued Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey will if I issue an Omega level request.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026You really think the universe is at stake?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf Starscream gets his way, then yeah. The truth is, if we don\u2019t stop them, Primus and Unicron will use creations that are would never know peace and would give them the readout they\u2019ve been looking for and thus bringing the universe to only one element.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Very well. In the meantime, I\u2019ll have a few ground forces hunt for Starscream. If he reunites with his forces, they\u2019ll escape Cybertron and make it easier for them to survive Tornedron\u2019s wrath.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ll send some soldiers with yours.
