Both sides were in a state of cold war, daring the other to move. On the <em>Endeavor<\/em>, Shalvey noticed something on her console. \u201cCaptain, the <em>Skysword<\/em>, <em>High Sky<\/em>, <em>Sand Dune<\/em>, and <em>Falchion<\/em> are hailing the enemy fleet,\u201d she reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPatch us through,\u201d ordered Arsha. Five faces appeared on screen, all of them everyone recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is Velkor Blacktail, King of the Manticore Hegemony and Acting Captain of the CRS <em>Sand Dune<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is Tursu Molkar, Queen of the Sphinx Democracy and Acting Captain of the CRS <em>Falchion<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is Hanjar Mazula, King of the Gryphon Authority and Acting Captain of the CRS <em>Skysword<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd this is Erudsa Miltarii, Queen of the Gorgon Assembly and Acting Captain of the CRS <em>High Sky<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd?\u201d asked Draysna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd we wish to fulfill our duty of informing you,\u201d explained Hanjar, \u201cthat Realmfleet has designated Frigandor as under our protection according to the terms of the Treaty of the Heights signed at the end of the War of the Depths.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe don\u2019t recognize Realmfleet treaties, and you weren\u2019t supposed to either, you traitors!\u201d snarled Draysna. \u201cThe Empire\u2019s claim to this continent takes precedence! Leave at once!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou are cutting off Frigandor from the outside world,\u201d replied Tursu. \u201cWe cannot allow our friends to be so isolated thanks to the interference of an enemy power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is our duty and pleasure,\u201d continued Velkor, \u201cto free Frigandor and render aid to the inhabitants.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCaptain or General or whatever in the Depths is the Trinny title for someone like you,\u201d Erudsa went on, \u201cright now, I\u2019m personally on the bridge of the toughest, fastest, and most powerful class of skyship Realmfleet has ever put into service and I\u2019m part of a fleet under the command of a miracle-worker who knows how to get the job done. We\u2019ve all got our mana cannons locked on your engines and nothing would make me happier than you giving Arsha an excuse to order me to flay your hide to the bone! But instead, we\u2019re all going to you a chance to spare Arsha the headache of giving that order. So, we ask you only once, stand down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGet in on the call,\u201d Arsha ordered Shalvey. The faces on the screen then reacted as Arsha appeared on their own. \u201cCaptain Draysna, I\u2019d take up their generous offer. I\u2019m willing to give the order to tan your Revenant hide.\u201d Drasyna\u2019s comms officer then whispered something to him. He growled and thumped the armrest of his chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019re lucky I\u2019m needed elsewhere!\u201d he growled to his foes. \u201cBut when we meet again, you won\u2019t be so fortunate!\u201d His face then vanished as his part of the call ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe enemy fleet is leaving!\u201d called Malak. \u201cCaptain, the Trinnies are abandoning Frigandor!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cExcellent decision!\u201d praised Arsha. \u201cAll ships, stand down from red alert.\u201d She then gave her attention to the other Captains. \u201cEveryone, when in the Depths-?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen we heard the rumors that Oyed killed you,\u201d explained Velkor, \u201call six of us used the Inter-realm comms still available to us to form a mutual defense compact to aid one another when the Realmgates were operational again and to try and enter Realmfleet. When assignments were available, we accepted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJust because we were cut off,\u201d chuckled Erudsa, \u201cdidn\u2019t mean we were gonna leave Realmfleet in the lurch. You freed us from Oyed and got back from his botched attempt to kill you, and we\u2019re supposed to repay you by sitting on our duffs?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCaptain Royana,\u201d called Tanta\u2019s voice over the comms, \u201cwe are reaty to telifer ait to Frikantor. We leaf te searsh for Oyet in your hants.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLand all supply distribution parties,\u201d ordered Arsha. She then turned to Shalvey. \u201cTell the teleporter room to standby for my strike team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strike team consisted of Arsha, her spouses, Bashoon, and Delselii. They headed to a meeting place outside Frigandor. They waited for a few minutes until five Revenants approached them. They were a Naga woman named Eltan Sontor, a male Ice Elf named Sheendii Eltraa, a male Cecaelia named Drelta Meltrek, a female Slime named Blenter Ansii, and a male human named Entran Deltar. These Revenants died during Arsha\u2019s first encounter with Reb Rojam and her pirate fleet, brought back after Dr. Borg restored Yulduk to life, and worked under her for only a moment until they turned on her, their pride at being Realmfleet soldiers overshadowing Dr. Borg\u2019s desires. They became known as the Realmfleet Revenants and were used to gather enemy intelligence when they could. \u201cGood to see you again, Eltan,\u201d greeted Arsha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s\u2026it\u2019s good to\u2026see you,\u201d replied Eltan. \u201cThe\u2026entrance is\u2026this way.\u201d Eltan then drew in a breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026Are you alright?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re fine,\u201d assured Eltan in a normal talking speed. \u201cJust needed a moment. Come on. The entrance is this way.\u201d The Realmfleet Revenants led the team to an ice cave, then they had to catch their breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOkay, no, this isn\u2019t right,\u201d called Arsha. \u201cYou\u2019re exhausted somehow. Even before you were made into Revenants, you weren\u2019t this tired. What\u2019s going on?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEverything\u2026Captain,\u201d panted Sheendii. He then pulled back his hood to reveal that his veins and eyes were very dim. The rest of the Realmfleet Revenants pulled back their own hoods and revealed the same. Blenter had to move her core up to her head to reveal that it was in the same condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve never known Revenants to lose their shine,\u201d muttered Foresna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was the removal of Oyed that sparked this,\u201d explained Blenter. \u201cTalking to him was a key component of resurrecting us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHonestly, I can\u2019t say that I fully blame Dr. Borg,\u201d said Drelta. \u201cWith him around, he was too dangerous to the Realms. He had already seen how his children were wired up to a draining machine targeting their Divine Mana and we\u2019d be damned if we went out like that. We never saw it coming.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut every single Revenant felt it,\u201d continued Entran. \u201cWe could feel our lives beginning to slip away, though we couldn\u2019t place it at the time. And in that moment, that very infinitesimal second before our second death, we started drawing in mana from the air to save ourselves from dying all over again before we could see the end of the Final War. With every ounce of will power we had left, we bought ourselves time and expanded our moment of dying into weeks, maybe months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut it\u2019s like operating in a fog,\u201d said Eltan as she wrapped up the situation. \u201cEverything\u2019s a little unreal and warped. I personally feel like I\u2019m slithering through water sometimes. Then, when we use magic\u2026we can feel our lives slipping away unless we take in massive mana infusions. The five of us are running on fumes now, since the blockade prevented us from getting more mana, but we\u2019ve got just enough left to show you the results of what happened.\u201d Eltan then revealed a secret keypad inside the wall and keyed in a code that opened a hidden door into a metal, yet cavernous maw of a tunnel. \u201cThis way,\u201d directed Eltan.
