They were crossing Devil\u2019s Back in clear weather and were about to reach the station at the summit. There was still a bit of wind, but it wasn\u2019t enough to make anyone worry. Yufantel was a little nervous as they climbed the last remaining near straight-up 600 feet of Devil\u2019s Back. They soon saw the Summit Station ahead. Yufantel then released a breath in relief. \u201cIt\u2019s weird,\u201d she muttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat is?\u201d asked the Fireman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI commanded a skyship just fine, but I get nervous on mountains unless there\u2019s a clear building in sight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m like that with rollercoasters if you can believe it. I prefer to control the speed of the train and going fast on high hills isn\u2019t exactly fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYeah, I guess I prefer having closed walls around me as I\u2019m in the air.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEr, Yufantel?\u201d asked Wilfred. Yufantel then realized what was going on and screwed on the brakes a little quicker than usual, but still enough to ease into the platform. Patrick and his crew were on the opposite platform, waiting for passengers to climb aboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHead in the clouds?\u201d chuckled Sira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSomething like that,\u201d replied Yufantel embarrassed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLong as it\u2019s not a habit, especially on a mountain,\u201d remarked Irina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019re absolutely right,\u201d agreed Patrick. \u201cIt\u2019s a risk no one should take.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSays the risk-seeker,\u201d muttered Wilfred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFORMER risk-seeker!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHEY!\u201d called the Stationmaster as he stormed out of his office. He was looking directly at the points outside the station. \u201cClear off, you! Patrick has to-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNot again!\u201d gulped Patrick as he guessed who was sitting on the points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStationmaster, what\u2019s the number on the engine?!\u201d called Wilfred\u2019s Fireman. The Stationmaster was confused at the question but walked toward the engine. He didn\u2019t get behind it as he saw the nameplate and screamed in horror as he fled to hide by Wilfred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cG-G-G-Go-God-d-d-dr-!\u201d He couldn\u2019t get the name out. Irina guessed it quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGodred,\u201d she said as she stepped out of Patrick\u2019s cab. Sira and Yufantel followed her and faced Godred\u2019s ghost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat are you doing here, Godred?\u201d asked Yufantel. \u201cThe engines, staff, and visitors all believed you had moved on after your accident.\u201d Godred said nothing. \u201c\u2026Godred, if you want help moving on, I\u2019m a licensed ghost-easer. It\u2019s my job to help ghosts that want to move on but can\u2019t.\u201d Still nothing. \u201c\u2026Can you hear me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe can hear you, all right,\u201d chuckled a woman\u2019s voice in a cold tone. The speaker then came out. She was tall and wore a seafoam green dress. \u201cI just made it so that he won\u2019t speak as long as he\u2019s mine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd you are?\u201d asked Irina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh, where are my manners? I am Auriella, Queen of Adrexia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNever heard of it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOnly because you Vortex Riders never passed by it or asked the Chizarans about their cousins.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI see. So, you\u2019re the reason Godred\u2019s haunting this mountain?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI prefer the term \u2018revisiting\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSouls that moved on and are pulled back tend to cause havoc!\u201d argued Yufantel. \u201cYou need to let him go!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd a Queen obeys a mere Princess?\u201d scoffed Auriella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ll obey this one!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019re in no position to give me demands, child!\u201d Auriella turned to Godred. \u201cIt\u2019s time, Godred.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTime for what?\u201d asked Irina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor his last passenger run. Must keep to time, and all that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe can\u2019t even touch anyone!\u201d scoffed Patrick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNo, my Superheat Design Friend, but he CAN take you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026Possession,\u201d hissed Yufantel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cP-Possession?!\u201d gulped Patrick. \u201cAs in\u2026take over our-?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWilfred would be a better candidate,\u201d remarked Auriella, \u201csince his construction is similar to Godred\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen what?\u201d demanded Sira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen he takes the engine\u2019s train back down the mountain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGodred never kept a good look-out!\u201d protested Wilfred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf he\u2019s a repeater as I suspect,\u201d supplied Yufantel, \u201cthen the engine he possesses will be doomed to repeat the events leading to his death!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMeaning Godred will no longer be alone,\u201d said Auriella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMurder is murder, no matter how you slice it, you thug!\u201d Auriella snarled at that insult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI never did expect someone like you to understand. Godred, Wilfred\u2019s ready for you. Take him and his passengers.\u201d Auriella then summoned an energy ball in her hand. \u201cAs for you lot, onto the coach. Get in quickly please.\u201d Just then, Auriella heard a snap from behind her. She turned around to see Godred rolling backwards. \u201cWhat?! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!\u201d she shouted as she turned the energy ball into chains. \u201cCOME BACK HERE, YOU-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s enough!\u201d shouted Yufantel as she tackled Auriella and pinned her to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGET OFF ME! YOU\u2019RE NOT FIT TO TOUCH ME!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019re not in a position to give orders, lady!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI SAID GET OFF!\u201d Auriella threw Yufantel off and into Patrick\u2019s coach. She then threw a smoke bomb at the ground and used it to get away. Everyone was confused at why Godred repeated his accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd he just rolled down the mountain?\u201d asked Culdee once the day\u2019s work was done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDerailed at Devil\u2019s Back again,\u201d replied Sira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut what would make him do that?\u201d asked Alaric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI can answer that,\u201d said Yufantel. \u201cAt their core, ghosts don\u2019t want to harm anyone. So when he was ordered to possess an engine with a coach full of passengers, then he felt like he had no choice but to repeat the actions that led to his death so others could still live.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026Still, I wish we could help him move on,\u201d sighed Irina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat will take less effort than you think,\u201d chuckled a new voice. Everyone gasped as Godred stood in front of the shed. This time, he was smiling. \u201cI see the railway\u2019s still in good hands after my tumble,\u201d chuckled Godred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGodred, it really IS you!\u201d gasped Culdee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHello, Culdee,\u201d replied Godred. \u201cHow are things?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJust\u2026just fine, but\u2026\u201d Culdee was lost for words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAh, my sudden appearance. That\u2019s Auriella\u2019s doing. I WAS resting peacefully after my accident. Then she ripped me from the afterlife. I see that my accident is used as a cautionary tale.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cY-Yes,\u201d stammered Wilfred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, it\u2019s kept Patrick and his fellows on their axles. I just came to finally say goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s it?\u201d asked Irina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s it. If it were possible to tell you what the afterlife was like, I\u2019d tell you. As it is now, I must stay mum. Stay safe up there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe will,\u201d promised the engines and their crews. Godred then faded away. Once he did, the Manager strode up to his engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI saw the whole thing,\u201d he said. \u201cI didn\u2019t think it would be right for me to interrupt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, thank you, Sir,\u201d said Alaric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNow, I DO have some bad news,\u201d continued the Manager. \u201cWhile we had a slight decrease in passengers during this incident, the fact remains that the summer rush is approaching and we\u2019re likely to our busiest season yet. So, to that end, I have acquired four new engines. They\u2019ll be coming in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHow hard-working are they?\u201d asked Patrick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, they\u2019ve been shut up in their sheds since their construction in the 80\u2019s. Their sisters have had better luck on the Snowdon Railway. When I approached them for a chance to work on a mountain railway, they were thrilled. I need our new drivers to help them along the line while your normal crews return to work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe 80\u2019s?\u201d asked Culdee. \u201cThat\u2019s when they were built?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBut steam traction stopped being the norm around the 60\u2019s,\u201d recalled Wilfred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cExactly,\u201d confirmed the Manager. \u201cThese four engines are mountain diesels.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ll make sure they know how this railway works,\u201d promised Endram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI knew I could count on you! Well, that\u2019s all the news for tonight. I\u2019ll see you in the morning. Good night!\u201d The Manager then walked off to his car and drove home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, I, for one,\u201d said Culdee, \u201cam eager to see how these diesels handle themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs am I,\u201d agreed Eric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, we can\u2019t exactly do that,\u201d remarked Patrick, \u201cwithout some sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s right,\u201d affirmed Wilfred. \u201cSo, good night.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGood night!\u201d everyone bid.
