To my surprise, their identities have not been disclosed to myself or any member of my senior staff, which only raises questions of their character.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Captain James T. Kirk strode to the conference room to see Spock and McCoy already seated. \u201cGentlemen, I don\u2019t think I need to tell you that these nameless Ensigns worry me,\u201d said Kirk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong with a little surprise?\u201d asked McCoy. \u201cWe didn\u2019t know Chekov\u2019s name until a few days after he came aboard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDoctor,\u201d replied Spock, \u201cthe Captain DID get a letter of recommendation vouching for Mr. Chekov\u2019s character, so he had some frame of reference to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCome on, you can\u2019t expect Starfleet Captains to have a stack of recommendation letters in their file! Or for Starfleet to send them to every Captain!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDoctor McCoy, Starfleet regulations clearly state that every Ensign must have a recommendation letter to vouch that they are capable of working on a Starship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWell, you can\u2019t expect EVERY rule to be-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGentlemen, please,\u201d interrupted Kirk. \u201cLet\u2019s not distract ourselves from the main topic. What DO we know about these three Ensigns?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll I got was that they were all male,\u201d replied McCoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRegretfully,\u201d continued Spock, \u201cthe only data Lieutenant Uhura was able to get was that a Captain Christine McIntyre would be delivering these Ensigns.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCaptain McIntyre?\u201d Kirk smiled. \u201cSo, she\u2019s become a Starship Captain, has she? What\u2019s her ship?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe <em>Korolev<\/em>, Captain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMaking her the first woman to command a <em>Constitution<\/em>-class vessel,\u201d mused Kirk. \u201cI\u2019ll have to congratulate her later. How soon are we due to meet the <em>Korolev<\/em>?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCaptain Kirk,\u201d called Uhura over the comms. Kirk pressed the receiver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cKirk here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in orbit around Moronica and the <em>Korolev<\/em> is coming alongside us,\u201d reported Uhura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExcellent. We\u2019re on our way.\u201d Kirk ended the call. \u201cWell, gentlemen, let\u2019s see who Captain McIntyre brought with her.\u201d They made their way to the bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe <em>Korolev<\/em> is hailing us, Sir,\u201d reported Uhura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn screen,\u201d ordered Kirk. A beautiful blonde woman in a Starfleet woman\u2019s gold command uniform with the trimming of a Captain on her sleeves soon appeared. \u201cHello, Captain McIntyre,\u201d greeted Kirk. \u201cCongratulations on your history making.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThank you, Captain Kirk,\u201d replied McIntyre. \u201cI apologize for this rather\u2026unorthodox method of bringing the Ensigns to you, but I felt you would need to see them for yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cForgive me for saying this, but you\u2019re acting like I wouldn\u2019t like them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo, no, just that you would know them. Permission for the Ensigns and I to come aboard?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPermission granted.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Kirk and Scotty were at the Transporter Room. Scotty pressed the necessary buttons and slid the switches to the receiving end. Captain McIntyre shimmered into view first. She stepped of the transporter pad and shook hands with Kirk. \u201cWelcome aboard, Captain,\u201d said Kirk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA pleasure to be here, Captain,\u201d replied McIntyre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cForgive me for asking, but where are the three Ensigns?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have a lock on them, Sir,\u201d replied Scotty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCaptain,\u201d said McIntyre in a hurried fashion, \u201cbefore you bring them aboard, I must warn you that they\u2019re not the brightest\u2026!\u201d Too late. The three Ensigns shimmered into view. They were three human men. One had a black bowl haircut, similar to Spock\u2019s. One had wavy orange hair and an exposed scalp, and one was a fat bald man. Kirk and Scotty\u2019s eyes widened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026Lass, not them!\u201d begged Scotty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes\u2026them,\u201d sighed McIntyre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHey!\u201d called the fat man in a falsetto as he saw Kirk. \u201cIt\u2019s our old pal, Jimmy!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s CAPTAIN Jimmy to you, Onion-head!\u201d snapped the man with bowl haircut. He then poked the fat man\u2019s eyes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHey, leave him alone!\u201d said the orange-haired man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cButt out of this, Porcupine!\u201d The bowl-haired man then yanked some of the orange-haired man\u2019s hair out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMoe, Larry, and Curly?!\u201d Kirk asked McIntyre. McIntyre nodded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship <em>Enterprise<\/em>.
