\u201cBlack box, flight recorder,\u201d elaborated the Doctor. \u201cEvery single bit of Dalek kit is linked to Pathweb somehow, so it always leaves behind a record of events.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Is this\u2026Pathweb a hive mind?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOf a sort. It\u2019s more sort of their library, without all the annoyances of a local council library. No late fees, no\u2026aha!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDON\u2019T TOUCH IT!\u201d barked the Doctor as she swatted Daxter\u2019s hand away. \u201cDalek technology is dangerous for those unfamiliar with it!\u201d As Daxter rubbed his hand in annoyance, the Doctor looked through the files. \u201c\u2026It looks like they had departed for this Misty Island you lot seemed insistent on your kids not visiting over a few days ago.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a reason why,\u201d replied Jak. \u201cMisty Island is home to a group of Lurker extremists. Their reasons started out noble. They simply didn\u2019t want to be enslaved again. But they started killing innocent people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the problem with extremists. They think killing and enslaving is necessary to achieve their goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSadly, Megatron was such an extremist from what I heard from him,\u201d said Farmee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMegatron still had some sense in realizing what he did and ending the cause right there. \u2026Much better than a Dalek. As least his goals were noble.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy? What are the Daleks\u2019 supposed goals?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo exterminate all non-Daleks,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cThey\u2019re the mutated remains of a humanoid race from the planet Skaro called the Kaleds. The Kaleds were at war with the Thals, a very dirty nuclear war. The resulting mutations were then accelerated by the Kaled Chief Scientist, Davros. He removed all emotions from the new creatures except hatred for those that weren\u2019t those creatures, then put them in war machines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You mean these Daleks were created to be nothing more than pitiless killers?\u201d asked Jak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMan, woman, child, it doesn\u2019t matter,\u201d sighed the Doctor. \u201cUnless you have a short-term use, you\u2019re nothing more than a target to the Daleks. Ah, here we go!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFootage from a mission briefing,\u201d answered the Doctor. She pulled up the footage and presented it on the screen. There were six men talking to a Black Dalek and a Special Weapons Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy Ones!\u201d gasped Farmee. \u201cI know two of them! From history! That\u2019s\u2026Scorpo and Intrag!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s their historical significance?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cScorpo is the Mechanica extension of Dr. Borg\u2019s ship, the Scorpion<\/em>,\u201d explained Farmee. \u201cAnd Intrag\u2026well, his full name is Intrag Emboramii!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEmboramii?\u201d asked Sam. \u201cIsn\u2019t that your mother Malnar\u2019s maiden name?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYes! He\u2019s Mama Malnar\u2019s first ancestor! A brutal tyrant, he was! He ruled the Under-realm with an iron fist! He died at the end of the War of the Realms, then came back in the final years of the Third Age of Unity as a wraith before he failed Oyed the Titan and was consigned to the Depths!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt looks like he\u2019s set himself up as the commander of this mission,\u201d muttered the Doctor. \u201cThat has to be chafing to the Dalek Supreme. The logs identify the others as Captain\u2026Captain Don Shinobi? \u2026Erm, Benjamin, Shefarn Borg, and the Mobian cat is\u2026is Makeshift. That sounds like a Transformer\u2019s name.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGreen and Blue Eco now catalogued!\u201d barked the Dalek Supreme to Intrag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cExcellent,\u201d replied Intrag. \u201cWe\u2019ll catalogue Light, Red, and Yellow Eco later. For now, our biggest priority is the nearest silo of Dark Eco.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIs the Haven City Dark Warrior to be exterminated?\u201d asked the Special Weapons Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo way, see?!\u201d snapped Captain Don Shinobi. \u201cWe need him alive to filter the Dark Eco into our test subjects!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe need to open the silo on Misty Island,\u201d remarked Scorpo. \u201cThat kind of\u2026unhealthy work will attract Health, then\u2026well, she\u2019ll be in our power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSilo breaching equipment prepared and primed!\u201d said the Dalek Supreme. \u201cAre the local Lurkers to be captured for interrogation?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo,\u201d replied Intrag. \u201cThey won\u2019t be willing to give up the Dark Eco Silo. Just kill them all. Every man, woman, and child.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe obey!\u201d replied the Dalek Supreme and the Special Weapons Dalek. The Doctor ended that video and checked another part of the data concerning that awful mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026It looks like they succeeded in the Misty Island genocide,\u201d she sighed as she teased out the data. \u201cMisty Island is now under the complete control of the Daleks. \u2026But, it looks like their breaching of the silo is slow going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026You mean\u2026my kid was lucky to only have a Dark Eco bath?\u201d shuddered Daxter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI think we better get back,\u201d said Jak. He headed to the Blue Eco Vent, got charged with Blue Eco, then rushed back to the door and used the Blue Eco to open it. Everyone headed through the door, across a small lake in the rock, and onto a floating platform that lowered them back to the warp gate. They then went through it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The instant Jak and Daxter arrived back at the hut, they hugged their kids. \u201cYou kids were unbelievably lucky!\u201d said Jak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cD-Dad?\u201d asked Markus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere weren\u2019t any Lurkers on Misty Island, were there? Just a bunch of machine-looking things.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cY-Yeah,\u201d confirmed Layla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThose things are more dangerous than we thought,\u201d said Daxter. \u201cThey won\u2019t hesitate to kill you guys just because you\u2019re kids!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026You mean\u2026we could have\u2026died?!\u201d gulped Markus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Daleks are the ultimate in racial cleansing,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat did you find?\u201d asked Megatron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Daleks are planning to inject test subjects with Dark Eco,\u201d summarized Farmee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTheir own Dark Warrior project, eh?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLooks that way,\u201d said Sam. \u201cThey intend to use Jak as a filter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey\u2019ll have to directly inject a Dalek with the substance,\u201d guessed Galvatron. \u201cGotta have that control variable and all that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNaturally,\u201d agreed the Doctor. \u201cI don\u2019t think we want to know what it will do to a Dalek when unfiltered.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMegatron, can you see how much progress they made?\u201d asked Farmee. Megatron looked out to Misty Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026That\u2019s odd,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s abandoned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat?\u201d asked Galvatron. He activated his own zoom function and looked. \u201c\u2026Yeah, the whole island\u2019s\u2026well, dead!
