The Avengers all raced out to meet Doctor Doom. \u201cAll right, Doomsie,\u201d said Iron Man, \u201cyou wanna start talking before we start beating?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHow very droll, Stark,\u201d replied Doctor Doom. \u201cI am not here for conquest, but for asylum.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAsylum,\u201d remarked Steve in his patriotic outfit of Captain America, his shield ready for action. \u201cYou, Doctor Doom, are requesting asylum. From what?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFrom a madman Thor is familiar with,\u201d answered Doom. \u201cI believe Odin adopted him, Thor?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLoki?\u201d asked Thor. \u201cWhat did you do to anger my brother?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI will explain once I am safe inside your tower,\u201d replied Doom. \u201cNow hurry! He\u2019s sure to track me out in the open!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inside the tower, the Doctor snuck out of bed, still carrying her shoes. She managed to get back to her box in the commons room. She tried the door. \u201c\u2026Oh, come on, dear!\u201d she complained. \u201cNow\u2019s not the time! \u2026Oh well, always check the shoes, I always say.\u201d She shook her shoes and heard something in them. She turned them upside down and a strange key on a chain then fell out of the right shoe. \u201cAha! Always lead with the right!\u201d she chuckled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust a moment!\u201d called William as he entered the commons room. \u201cWhat are you doing?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Just popping into my box,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn your state? No, you\u2019re going back to bed,\u201d directed William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat do you mean, in my state?!\u201d protested the Doctor. \u201cI\u2019m well and good!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYour hearts are beating a little fast.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAha! You know I have two hearts! Conclusion?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Okay, yes, you ARE an alien to me, but-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExactly. So you don\u2019t actually know what is or isn\u2019t healthy for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLook, Doctor, you\u2019re not fit-!\u201d insisted William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd I say I am!\u201d retorted the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood grief, I heard doctors made for terrible patients, but you, madam, take the whole cake!\u201d groaned William. \u201cNow, kindly get back in bed and rest! Doctor\u2019s orders!\u201d The Doctor was about to protest further when she saw the Avengers bring Doctor Doom past the commons room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Hold that thought,\u201d she said. She dashed out of the room and followed the Avengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo! That\u2019s where their-! Ugh! And I thought Spider-Man was difficult to treat!\u201d complained William as he followed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Doctor Doom was placed in a cell and watched by the purple wearing archer, Hawkeye. \u201c\u2026Your eyes are shut, Barton,\u201d scoffed Doom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoesn\u2019t mean I can\u2019t act in time, Doomsie,\u201d remarked Hawkeye. He then looked up when he heard someone approaching. He saw that it was the Doctor and William. \u201cHey, Doc-,\u201d he called.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKindly refrain from calling me \u2018Doc\u2019,\u201d remarked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWait, what?\u201d asked Hawkeye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEr, Doctor,\u201d said William, \u201cI think Hawkeye was talking about me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor who?\u201d demanded Doom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust the Doctor,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cThis is Dr\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDr. William Davies,\u201d said William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, my new friend, Dr. William Davies. Oh, and this is Clint Barton, better known as-!\u201d continued the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHawkeye, yes,\u201d dismissed Doom. \u201cWe\u2019re both well-acquainted. \u2026Are you that same Doctor that collaborates with that ridiculous UNIT?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStill their scientific advisor, I\u2019ll have you know,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd you still have that\u2026TARDIS?\u201d The instant Doom asked that question, the Doctor became more guarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026What would the Emperor of Latveria want with my TARDIS?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is not what Doom wants with it, but what the son of Laufey wants.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, what, you\u2019re here to warn us that Loki\u2019s planning something with something belonging to the Doctor?\u201d asked Hawkeye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA crude, but not inaccurate summation of what I said,\u201d replied Doom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy would he need the TARDIS?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cHe could just find one of those Infinity Thingamabobs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBecause, as it stands, Thanos is once again in possession of the Time Stone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe\u2019s restarting his quest to find the Infinity Stones?\u201d scoffed Hawkeye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis TARDIS of yours, Doctor,\u201d continued Doom, \u201ccan bring you anywhere at any point in time. Loki would rather not risk wrestling the Space and Time stones from Thanos\u2019 gauntlet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, the TARDIS is off limits,\u201d remarked the Doctor. \u201cBesides, I have the key.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWait a minute, that tiny box?\u201d asked William. \u201cThat\u2019s your home?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, it\u2019s my home,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cThor can tell you how that\u2019s possible. \u2026Although, Asgardians never really bothered learning the dimensional engineering needed to make a TARDIS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI gotta see that for myself,\u201d said William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, let\u2019s get back there, then.\u201d The Doctor headed back to the commons room with William following, protesting that she needed to be back in bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You follow any of that?\u201d Hawkeye asked Doom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI do believe the Doctor thinks she\u2019s found the best of humanity,\u201d replied Doom. \u201c\u2026I fail to see why she believes Dr. Davies to be that person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and William arrived back in the commons room. The Doctor retrieved her key from the shoe she dropped and put it into the lock on the box\u2019s door. \u201cDoctor, I must insist for the last time to-!\u201d The Doctor opened the door and went inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, you\u2019ve redecorated!\u201d she said. \u201cGoing back to the classics, hm? I really like it!\u201d William rolled his eyes and entered the box\u2026and his eyes widened in surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood lord!\u201d he said. He then dashed outside and went around the box, then went back inside. \u201c\u2026This is what Thor meant?! It\u2019s\u2026It\u2019s bigger on the inside?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInfinity contained within a small, blue box!\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cWelcome, Dr. William Davies, to the TARDIS! Time and Relative Dimensions in Space!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026So this thing really CAN take us back in time?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOr forward or, in special cases, sideways!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I SO want to see it all!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPerhaps, after this mess with Doom and Loki,\u201d said the Doctor, \u201cyou can come with me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019re serious?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs a hearts attack!\u201d replied the Doctor with a grin. \u201cBut first\u2026some clothes.\u201d She dashed off into a room. Several articles of clothing flew out. \u201c\u2026Oh, Rassilon, why couldn\u2019t you have made a bra?! \u2026Then again, it would be named the Bra of Rassilon, then we\u2019d need the Stockings of Rassilon, the Garter of Rassilon\u2026might as well open the whole Lingerie Store of Rassilon.\u201d The Doctor then stepped out in what looked like something Queen Elizabeth I would have worn. \u201cWhat do you think?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Any mess with the Avengers WILL involve running,\u201d replied William. \u201cAs beautiful as that dress is\u2026I don\u2019t think you can run in that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026My life DOES involve a lot of running,\u201d conceded the Doctor. \u201cBut I WILL be wearing a skirt.\u201d She went back in and wore something that looked like a tutu with stockings and a bodice. \u201cNo? \u2026No. \u2026Of course! Ace!\u201d She dashed back into the wardrobe, then came back out wearing a dark-green pleated skirt that went past her knees, a long sky-blue trench coat, a brown floppy hat, and a white shirt. \u201cHow about now?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou got enough pockets?\u201d asked William, wanting the fashion show to end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh yes!\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cNow, let\u2019s see what we\u2019ve got!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and William joined the Avengers in the conference room. \u201cErm, question,\u201d said Iron Man, \u201cshould Dr. Davies be here?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLike it or not,\u201d replied the Doctor, \u201che\u2019s my friend and friends need to be in the loop as much as possible. Now\u2026are we really keeping the Emperor of Latveria here?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFriend Doctor is right,\u201d replied Thor. \u201cDoom is a known villain that has lied for his own gains.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe can\u2019t possibly do that much against Loki, can he?\u201d asked the Hulk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy main concern,\u201d said the Black Widow, \u201cis what if Doom gets into this TARDIS. I have copies of the Doctor\u2019s UNIT files and it clearly states that her box can go anywhere at any point in time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I\u2019m going to avoid asking the obvious question of how you got my files,\u201d said the Doctor, \u201cand just make a call to UNIT about this so they can tighten security.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t say I didn\u2019t make deals with them, Doctor. They almost killed me when they found me.\u201d The Doctor rolled her eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey\u2019re an organization I associate with, but damn if they aren\u2019t trigger-happy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have to side with Nat here,\u201d remarked Iron Man. \u201cDoom\u2019s got a history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHang on,\u201d said Hawkeye, \u201cwhat if we can pit them against each other?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cClint?\u201d asked Captain America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, think about it. They\u2019re both power-hungry. We offer the TARDIS up as bait and-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOut of the question!\u201d snapped the Doctor. \u201cOne, that\u2019s my home you\u2019re talking about. Two, the TARDIS is too dangerous to be used as bait for someone like Loki or Doctor Doom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have to agree,\u201d replied Captain America. \u201cOne of them could change history as we know it and I\u2019d rather not wake up to a reality where one of them is the god of the universe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen what else can we-?\u201d Iron Man was cut off when the alarms sounded. Iron Man pulled up holographic security footage of Doctor Doom attaching something to the sides of the TARDIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
