Batman, Damian in his Robin suit, the Doctor, and William arrived at the scene as Commissioner Gordon and other police officers combed over the area. \u201cAll this over a seed pod,\u201d grunted Gordon. \u201cI knew Poison Ivy was crazy, but-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCommissioner,\u201d interrupted the Doctor, \u201cI don\u2019t think either you or she knows how much danger Gotham, nay, EARTH is in now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGiven that the only human she cares about is Harley, I think I can guess.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf what I saw from the old pod is any indication,\u201d remarked Batman, \u201cnot even Harley is safe from what Ivy\u2019s got, despite Ivy\u2019s love for her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have to find her quickly, Batman,\u201d said William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have a potential site,\u201d revealed Gordon. \u201cOracle found evidence of plant buildup around the old Gotham Park in Old Town. We sent some people to investigate the area, and their body-cam footage caught Ivy and Harley making their base there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026And the people you sent to investigate?\u201d asked the Doctor. Gordon rubbed his face in regret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2026I had to tell their families\u2026\u201d he began.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think I can piece together what happened to them,\u201d muttered the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have to stop them,\u201d said William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou two wait with the Commissioner,\u201d Batman said to the Doctor and William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBatman, with all due respect, we\u2019re going with you,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor-!\u201d protested Gordon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy dad was a sexist man, I\u2019ll freely admit, Commissioner Gordon,\u201d interrupted William, \u201cbut he taught me to defer to the experts on matters I don\u2019t understand. The fact remains that the Doctor is the expert on Krynoids here, and facts don\u2019t exactly require belief to be true. We\u2019re going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pod was in a makeshift laboratory with Poison Ivy and other scientists working. It was made from plants Ivy grew. Two giant rose blossoms the size of a dog and with vines for locomotion stood by. Harley then came into the lab. \u201cHey, Pam-a-lamb!\u201d she said. \u201cHow\u2019s the baby?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI managed to establish contact with it,\u201d replied Ivy. \u201cThere\u2019s definitely an intelligence in that thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShame it don\u2019t talk, unlike Charlotte and Adelaide over there.\u201d Harley gestured to the giant roses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMistress Ivy,\u201d said one of the giant roses through petals forming a mouth in the center, a butter-yellow one named Charlotte, \u201care you sure this is a good idea?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have to side with my sister here,\u201d said the other rose, a white one named Adelaide. \u201cI can feel that thing\u2019s intelligence and-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt will come around to our way of thinking,\u201d soothed Ivy as she stroked the two roses like one does with a cat. Another giant rose then arrived, this one being a pink one. \u201cDorothy?\u201d asked Ivy. \u201cWhat is it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s Batman, Mistress!\u201d explained the new rose. \u201cHe, Robin, and two strangers just strolled in as if they own the place!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat?!\u201d snarled Ivy. \u201cHe\u2019s never been this bold! Sound the alarm!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re REALLY doing this?\u201d Robin asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust act like you own the place,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cNothing gets you to the head of the operation faster. Then be an absolute madlad when it comes to identification.\u201d That was when women and plants surrounded them. \u201cAha! Now watch this!\u201d One of the women then approached the group. \u201cAll right, I suppose you want to see my identification,\u201d the Doctor said to the woman. \u201cWell, I haven\u2019t got it.\u201d The woman opened her mouth to speak. \u201cNor am I telling you my name!\u201d interjected the Doctor. \u201cNow you just tell Poison Ivy that my friends and I want to speak to her about the Krynoid seed pod she stole!\u201d The woman blinked in surprise. \u201c\u2026Well, don\u2019t just stand there arguing with me, woman!\u201d The woman then picked up a phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe called the seed pod by name?\u201d asked Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s right, ma\u2019am,\u201d confirmed the woman over the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI thought only you figured out the plant\u2019s name, Red,\u201d said Harley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI rather think this woman may have met Krynoids before,\u201d mused Ivy. \u201cMeaning she\u2019s not as human as she seems. \u2026Send her and her group to me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and her group were escorted to Ivy\u2019s makeshift throne room. Several plants made a chair for Ivy and Harley to sit in. \u201cA green Queen, hm?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA rather flippant title,\u201d replied Ivy as she rose from the throne, \u201cbut not without foundation, Miss\u2026?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, I\u2019m known as the Doctor. And this is my associate, Dr. William Davies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA pleasure,\u201d muttered William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh! And this is Bat-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, thank you,\u201d interrupted Ivy. \u201cHarley and I are quite well acquainted with Batman and the vigilantes that work under him. You, Doctor, are more of a mystery to me. How do you know about the Krynoid?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, I used to be president of the Galactic Floral Society,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cResearchers looking to study the Krynoid found the topic a rather difficult one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey keep going missing, hm?\u201d guessed Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You draw the correct conclusions and are still blind to the dangers,\u201d remarked the Doctor. \u201cThat thing is endemic\u2026no, LETHAL to Earth!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou speak as though animals are a necessary part of Earth,\u201d remarked Ivy. \u201cThere\u2019s only one animal that I would see protected, and that\u2019s Harley.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDr. Isley, please listen!\u201d urged Robin. \u201cBatman and I have seen that thing in action! It converted one of my students into a Krynoid! That thing nearly killed us!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd animals like you and me ARE necessary to the world,\u201d argued the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey\u2019re parasites and I have shed that parasitic self!\u201d snapped Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know, I do have to ask,\u201d said Harley, \u201cwill I still be an animal?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOoh, the girlfriend angle! That\u2019s right! She\u2019d-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot as long as I\u2019m around. \u2026However, Harley, if you DO want to shed your animal self, I can arrange for your\u2026evolution. Through the methods that evolved me, not through the Krynoid.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s all I need to know, babe!\u201d giggled Harley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You know, Doctor, the scientist in me can\u2019t help but try and observe the process,\u201d mused Ivy. Vines then restrained the group. \u201cLet\u2019s see\u2026no, not the Doctor. \u2026Not Batman. \u2026Dr. Davies, on the other hand\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFat chance!\u201d replied William. The vines restraining the Doctor, Batman, and Robin then yanked them away from William. Ivy then released her pheromones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAre you sure you don\u2019t want to evolve?\u201d asked Ivy. \u201cFor me, handsome?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Like I said, fat chance!\u201d retorted William. \u201cAnd your perfume, a very lovely scent, I might add, won\u2019t work!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, for-! Batman, did you immunize him?!\u201d complained Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t going to take any chances!\u201d replied Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet him go and let us destroy that pod!\u201d demanded the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo on both counts, Doctor. I WILL cultivate the Krynoid!\u201d Ivy snapped her fingers. William\u2019s vine dragged him underground as Ivy and Harley sat in the chair, following William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIvy! IVY!\u201d shouted the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFather, please tell me you have a defoliant!\u201d said Robin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have vinegar,\u201d replied Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA biodegradable one,\u201d remarked the Doctor. \u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThird belt compartment from the hip,\u201d answered Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vine and chair surfaced and deposited their passengers into the lab where the seed pod rested. One of the botanists arrived. \u201cDr. Isley!\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s the pod! It\u2019s gotten bigger!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI thought I felt a surge of vitality somewhere,\u201d purred Ivy. \u201cNow, William, are you sure you won\u2019t help little ol\u2019 me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSave your helpless Southern damsel act, you weed in Mother Nature\u2019s Garden!\u201d snapped William. \u201cYou can\u2019t make me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat an uncooperative man,\u201d replied Ivy, bristling at being called a weed. \u201cI am the very avatar of Mother Nature herself! \u2026All right, if you won\u2019t help me willingly\u2026\u201d vines then yanked William over to the table where the seed pod was and pinned his arm to it! \u201cYou\u2019ll help me like so!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOoh, this is gonna be fun!\u201d giggled Harley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot for me, you crazy!\u201d protested William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know, I think this little experiment will-!\u201d Ivy then clutched her head in pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRED!\u201d yelped Harley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026B-Batman\u2019s escaped!\u201d growled Ivy. She turned to her roses. \u201cGet them! They must not reach this area!\u201d The pod then twitched, as if it were gonna open! \u201cPerfect! Ophelia, get some clamps!\u201d she ordered the botanist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, no!\u201d gulped Ophelia. \u201cThis is inhuman!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t care!\u201d replied Ivy. \u201cI want to see what happens when the Krynoid touches human flesh!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor, Batman, and Robin had to fight their way through Ivy\u2019s forces. \u201cYou\u2019d hit a lady?!\u201d protested a guard woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMan, woman, irrelevant when the person\u2019s a criminal,\u201d replied Batman as he fought her. The Doctor had to fight another guard woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve heard of flower power,\u201d she remarked, \u201cbut this is ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat about girl power?!\u201d argued the woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBatman\u2019s comments are still relevant here.\u201d The Doctor jabbed her pointer and ring finger into the woman\u2019s collarbone, paralyzing her for a moment before dashing off to find a lighter and an aerosol can. \u201c\u2026Well, when in America,\u201d she muttered. She flicked the lighter open and sprayed the contents of the can. As expected, a jet of flame erupted and burned the plants blocking access to Poison Ivy\u2019s lab. The sudden noise and heat caused Ivy to look behind her and lose her concentration on the vines restraining William. Willaim seized his opportunity and ran to the Doctor, knocking the table over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026What will you do now, Doctor?\u201d asked Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWin as usual,\u201d replied the Doctor. She and her group then ran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFLOWER GUARD! STOP THOSE-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
