The Krynoid threw Harley through the one-way mirror, right into the hallway where the Doctor and her group were trying to get away from a snarling Elizabeth. \u201cHarley!\u201d called Batman. Harley picked herself up and pointed into the observation ward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat thing in there! Ophelia!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOphelia! Ophelia!\u201d replied the Doctor angrily. \u201cThat\u2019s not Ophelia anymore! That\u2019s a monster!\u201d Speaking of the former human, the Krynoid lumbered through the broken window. It then used Elizabeth to attack! The Doctor, her group, and Harley kept dodging the blows from Elizabeth and the Krynoid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHarley, where\u2019s the incinerator?!\u201d demanded William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere isn\u2019t one!\u201d replied Harley. \u201cThe fire risk was too great!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have to find Ivy!\u201d urged Batman. \u201cWhere is she?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn the throne room!\u201d revealed Harley. \u201cTalking to Councilman Hartmann and Selina!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCatwoman\u2019s here?!\u201d yelped Robin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on!\u201d called Harley. She led everyone through a door. They shut it behind them and barricaded it before resuming their run to the throne room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDr. Isley,\u201d said a portly man as he paced the throne room, \u201cyou promised that my ecological plan would come to fruition! Catwoman here told me about what you\u2019ve done with Dr. Henderson! What do you intend to do, make us all plant men?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCouncilman Hartmann, wouldn\u2019t it be better?\u201d asked Ivy. \u201cWe\u2019d produce our own food. No need for the pollution of factory farming. No need for fakey foods with additives. All we\u2019d need is water and sunlight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPamela, using an alien plant,\u201d argued a woman in a full bodysuit themed after a cat, the infamous Catwoman, \u201ccan\u2019t possibly be a good idea! What would the Green say?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Green will come around to-!\u201d Ivy was interrupted when Harley brought the heroes into the throne room. \u201cHarley, what are you doing?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd now that winged nut\u2019s involved!\u201d complained Hartmann.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCouncilman,\u201d assured Batman, \u201cI\u2019m trying to undo Ivy\u2019s mistake!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve made no-!\u201d argued Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou did!\u201d replied Harley. \u201cOphelia\u2019s not Ophelia anymore! She\u2019s an it! A monster! It\u2019s got control over Elizabeth! The ropes couldn\u2019t hold it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou mean that horror\u2019s roaming around here?!\u201d asked Hartmann.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt could take over all plant life at any minute!\u201d warned the Doctor. \u201cCouncilman, we must get out of here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRelax, all of you,\u201d assured Ivy. \u201cIt\u2019s a plant. I can commune with it.\u201d She placed her fingers on her temples and shut her eyes, just for dramatic effect as she tried to talk to the Krynoid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIvy, it\u2019s an alien intelligence!\u201d the Doctor retorted. \u201cYou won\u2019t be able to-!\u201d Ivy then clutched her head in pain and cried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPAMELA!\u201d yelped Harley. The Doctor put her own fingers on Ivy\u2019s temples and concentrated hard. Ivy then collapsed to the floor, panting heavily, along with the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor!\u201d called William as he rushed to help her. She accepted the help and was pulled back to her feet while Harley helped Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026A grotesque parody of a plant!\u201d panted Ivy. \u201cThat\u2019s what the Krynoid called me! It lied to me! I nurtured it and it spits in my-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPoison Ivy,\u201d interrupted the Doctor, \u201cthe Krynoid is dangerous, lethal! It will lie to achieve its goals of killing all animal life! \u2026Thankfully, I blocked your connection to it, but you\u2019ll need to wrestle its control over plants to keep us alive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is insane!\u201d protested Hartmann as he headed to the door.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCouncilman, where are you going?!\u201d called Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo get help!\u201d replied Hartmann.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHartmann, we\u2019re in the Botanical Gardens!\u201d argued Ivy. \u201cThat thing can control plants like I can! We need to-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYOU need to keep the crazy down, lady!\u201d interrupted Hartmann. \u201cThis has gone too far!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cListen to her! You won\u2019t make it to any gate!\u201d urged Batman. Hartmann then pulled out a gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll see!\u201d he said before leaving the throne room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHartmann!\u201d called the Doctor. \u201cHARTMANN, STOP!\u201d She then growled. \u201cTypical, gun-obsessed-! Why aren\u2019t all Americans like William here?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on, we\u2019d better stop him!\u201d called Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou made that monster!\u201d argued Robin. \u201cWhy should we-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBecause I finally admit that you people are right!\u201d interrupted Ivy. \u201cAnd we all have to work together to kill that weed!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have to find Hartmann quickly!\u201d urged the Doctor. Everyone then rushed out of the throne room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hartmann ran through the maze that was the botanical gardens. \u201cDammit, all the plants look the same!\u201d he complained. He rounded a corner and gasped! In front of him was a seven and a half foot tall mass of green that was moving towards him! Ivy\u2019s plants at least had some recognizable features, this one didn\u2019t! Its anatomy was undefined with no discernable front or back. It was bulky and covered in tendrils and vines, some of which ended in Venus Flytrap mouths. It lumbered towards Hartmann. \u201cWhatever you are, stop or I fire!\u201d warned the Councilman. The new plant paid him no heed and continued shuffling towards him! Hartmann fired, but the bullets simply bounced off the plant! Hartmann stumbled backwards and tripped over some root! One of the plant\u2019s tendrils then grabbed him and dragged him into a maw! He screamed, attracting the attention of the Doctor and her group. They rounded the corner to see the plant chomping down on the Councilman!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s an adult Krynoid?!\u201d yelped William. Batman wasted no time! He threw a particularly sharp batarang at the Krynoid. It buried itself into the plant, causing it to roar in pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTHIS WAY!\u201d called Ivy. The group ran with an angry Krynoid running after them a few seconds after getting the batarang out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ivy led everyone into a small cottage at the edge of the botanical gardens. Charlotte and Adelaide were in there. \u201cMistress!\u201d called Adelaide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMistress, are you all right?!\u201d asked Charlotte. \u201cWe lost contact with Elizabeth and-!\u201d She then spotted Batman. \u201cWhat are you doing here?! I thought you\u2019d be compost by now!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCharlotte, was it?\u201d interjected the Doctor. \u201cWith that Krynoid outside, we\u2019ll ALL be compost. \u2026How are you not-?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEmergency procedures I taught them,\u201d replied Ivy. \u201cIf telepathic communication is compromised, like an alien intelligence taking over, all sentient plants have to silence the hive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat about Elizabeth?!\u201d asked Adelaide worriedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll save her,\u201d promised the Doctor. \u201cBut we have a weed that-!\u201d Speaking of the alien weed, one of the Krynoid\u2019s tendrils burst through the cottage window and thrashed around, looking for prey! Robin drew his sword and stabbed outside where the tendril connected with the plant. The Krynoid roared in pain again. The Doctor then called out to the Krynoid. \u201cYou don\u2019t scare us, Ophelia!\u201d she called. \u201cIf you\u2019re in there!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe human host, once known as Ophelia,\u201d came a distorted version of Ophelia\u2019s voice, \u201cis now part of us. You may try and escape, but you cannot stop us, Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the Krynoid!\u201d realized Catwoman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHear this; humans and false plant,\u201d said the Krynoid, \u201csurrender the Doctor, Batman, and Poison Ivy to us. Your lives will be spared. You have until daybreak.\u201d The rattling of the Krynoid unnerved everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Heck of a Valentine\u2019s day, huh Ives?\u201d muttered Harley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, how big will that thing get?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, ranging from St. Paul\u2019s Cathedral to the Burj Kalifa,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Ivy can stay,\u201d muttered Adelaide, \u201cbut Batman and the Doctor\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I quite agree, sister!\u201d said Charlotte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo one\u2019s throwing anyone to the Krynoid!\u201d argued Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy not?!\u201d countered Charlotte. \u201cIf it wants those two-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt asked for all three! Even then, I doubt it would make any difference!\u201d interrupted Ivy. \u201cIt\u2019s going to kill all animals and corrupt you and your sisters, so why spare us unless it wants sport?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe\u2019s right,\u201d mused the Doctor. \u201cBy daybreak, the Krynoid will be big enough to turn this cottage into rubble.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, we can\u2019t stay here!\u201d protested Harley. \u201cWe gotta get out of here! There ain\u2019t no stuff to make Krynoid-killer here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Not here, no,\u201d replied Batman. \u201cBut the Batcave has a blue box that can.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe TARDIS laboratory!\u201d realized William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd we still have that Krynoid tissue sample there!\u201d recalled the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA tissue sample from a Krynoid consuming its host!\u201d argued Robin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe DNA is still the same,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cIvy, is there a back way out?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo,\u201d answered Ivy. \u201cI made this cottage into a bunker.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re going to need some sort of distraction at daybreak,\u201d muttered the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Would a pyro-batarang suffice?\u201d asked Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You\u2019ve got a batarang that can generate fire?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTwo, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTwo might actually be enough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIvy, just so I know, when will the fire suppression system kick in?\u201d asked Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAbout a minute,\u201d replied Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen some plants will be scorched,\u201d muttered the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Really wish you didn\u2019t say that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daybreak arrived and everyone prepared to escape. Batman and Robin opened the cottage\u2019s upstairs window to better aim at the Krynoid. \u201c\u2026Doctor, we\u2019ve got a problem,\u201d Batman called downstairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat is it?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Krynoid\u2019s gone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWHAT?!\u201d The Doctor charged upstairs to see that Batman was right. \u201c\u2026Where could it have lumbered off to?!\u201d she hissed. That was when they heard a scream!
