They got closer to the Krynoid as it was ready to open its maw, then stabbed their pyro-batarangs into the Krynoid. It roared in pain, then the batarangs fired their flame jets, forcing the Krynoid to release Ivy as it thrashed in pain. Everyone then left the cottage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTHIS WAY!\u201d called Ivy. She led the way to a gate that led outside the botanical gardens. Batman pressed a button on his gauntlet just as the sprinkler system kicked in. The Batmobile arrived and opened all its doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCome on! To the Batcave!\u201d called Batman. Everyone jumped into the Batmobile. The doors shut and Batman hit the gas. The Batmobile sped through the streets of Gotham as Batman pressed a few buttons on the console. \u201cOracle, connect me to Commissioner Gordon!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBatman?! Thank goodness you\u2019re alright!\u201d sighed Oracle. \u201cWe lost radio contact the instant you went into the botanical gardens! Right then, Commissioner Gordon, you said? Just a sec!\u201d The call then went through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBatman?!\u201d asked Gordon once he accepted the call. \u201cIsn\u2019t this too early for you to call me?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe situation\u2019s bad, Commissioner,\u201d replied Batman. \u201cIvy successfully cultivated the Krynoid! It\u2019s taking over the botanical gardens!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRight then, we\u2019ll set up a perimeter and monitor the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNegative!\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cYou need to evacuate everyone within a mile of the botanical gardens!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDoctor?\u201d asked Gordon. \u201cWhat do you mean?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Krynoid has the same telepathic connection to plants as Ivy does,\u201d explained the Doctor. \u201cIt stabbed her in the back, so we\u2019re temporary allies for now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAh, Mother Nature can\u2019t handle an alien plant, huh?\u201d asked Gordon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI heard that!\u201d called Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI was kind of hoping you would!\u201d retorted Gordon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIs now really the time?!\u201d argued William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWilliam\u2019s right,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cBy my reckoning, Gotham has about five hours before the Krynoid reaches primary germination.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat\u2019s that supposed to mean?\u201d asked Gordon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s gonna spread its seeds and make baby Krynoids,\u201d explained Harley. Everyone looked at her, except Ivy. \u201c\u2026What?! I\u2019m dating a plant lady! Don\u2019t you think I\u2019d learn some plant stuff?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor once, Commissioner,\u201d sighed Ivy, \u201cI\u2019m helping Batman make some weedkiller.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMeanwhile, Commissioner, you need to evacuate everyone within a mile of the botanical gardens,\u201d said Batman. \u201cDon\u2019t take no for an answer, not even from the mayor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHold on, you\u2019re asking me to boss the mayor around for his safety?\u201d asked Gordon. He then chuckled. \u201cOh, my birthday came early! All right, Batman. Be safe. Gordon out.\u201d The call ended just as the Batmobile entered the Batcave. Everyone jumped out and the Doctor led the way to the TARDIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026Under normal circumstances,\u201d purred Catwoman, \u201cthat would be nice and snug.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNot as snug as you think, Catwoman,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cIvy, Batman, inside.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe can\u2019t all fit in there!\u201d protested Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh yes, we can,\u201d countered Batman as he and the Doctor pulled Ivy inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWHAT THE-?!\u201d yelped Ivy. The doors shut, leaving William, Catwoman, Robin, and Harley in the cave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026What are we gonna do to put the weedkiller in the Krynoid?\u201d asked Harley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAh, I had no idea we were entertaining a criminal and the woman beguiling Batman,\u201d remarked a certain butler\u2019s voice. Alfred had arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHey, Alfie!\u201d called Harley. \u201cHow\u2019s the ol\u2019 butler life?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve asked you numerous times to refrain from calling that, Dr. Quinzel,\u201d remarked Alfred. \u201cWhere, pray tell, is Batman?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn the TARDIS,\u201d replied Robin. \u201cHe, the Doctor, and Poison Ivy are making an herbicide for the Krynoid.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026I\u2019m rather surprised to hear that Dr. Isley, of all people, wishes to destroy a plant. I presume it betrayed her once it reached the adult stage?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019re right on the money, Alfred,\u201d confirmed William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHow long have we got?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAbout five hours, according to the Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI see,\u201d muttered Alfred grimly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Doctor administered what she and her team synthesized onto a slide with a Krynoid tissue sample. She then looked at the slide through a microscope. \u201c\u2026Aha!\u201d she said. \u201cTake a look.\u201d Ivy looked into the microscope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026The cell walls are breaking down and spilling chloroplasts,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith them outside the cells,\u201d remarked Batman, \u201cthe plant would starve. And without the cell walls\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVegetable soup,\u201d summarized the Doctor. \u201cBut we\u2019ll need to deploy a large amount of this stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBatman, would the Batplane work?\u201d asked Ivy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf the missile it\u2019s carrying has a big enough payload,\u201d replied Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve only got four hours left,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cYou prep the Batplane, I\u2019ll synthesize more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Making enough of the herbicide took three hours. The Doctor and William loaded the herbicide into a missile, then Batman and Robin loaded the missile onto the Batplane. Batman began the launch sequence as every cleared out of the launchpad. The Batplane then roared to life and flew out of the cave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Krynoid had gotten big enough to break through the upper windows of the botanical gardens. That was just what Batman needed for a sighting run. The Batplane\u2019s computer then beeped. \u201cBatman to Batcave, target locked,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ve only got one shot, Batman!\u201d reminded the Doctor. \u201cIt\u2019s sure to defend itself!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI know the risks,\u201d said Batman. Just then, giant trees grew. Batman dodged and aimed at the Krynoid. The computer beeped again, then Batman fired! The missile flew towards the Krynoid and struck true! More trees grew in retaliation, swinging their branches at the Batplane\u2026then the Krynoid stumbled!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026Weakness!\u201d it cried. \u201cWEAKNESS!\u201d One of its tendrils then fell off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s working, Doctor!\u201d called Batman. More of the Krynoid\u2019s tendrils fell as the trees shriveled and died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBatman, Commissioner Gordon on the line for you!\u201d called Oracle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPut him through!\u201d replied Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBatman, what the hell was in that missile?!\u201d called Gordon. \u201cThat monster\u2019s coming apart at the seams!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCommissioner, I suggest you pull your men back!\u201d replied Batman. \u201cBecause there\u2019s going to be a terrible mess!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the ground, Gordon wasted no time. \u201cYou heard the man! Evacuate! Go! Go! Go!\u201d He and his forces ran from the gardens as the Krynoid crashed all around them. The fall generated a lot of dust that obscured the whole thing. Everyone waited until the dust settled. Once it did, all that remained of the botanical gardens was a pool of green sludge and the smell of overcooked vegetables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were all sorts of press conferences from the mayor all the way down to Gordon telling the public about the events. In those conferences, they explained that the perpetrators, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, were arrested and thrown into Arkham. As Bruce, Damian, Catwoman now in her civilian identity of Selina Kyle, and Alfred were watching the conferences. \u201cWhat rubbish!\u201d grumbled Alfred. \u201cTelling the public about alien plants! They\u2019re quite clearly not ready!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI dunno,\u201d remarked Bruce, \u201cthey already know about Superman and where he came from. \u2026Speaking of aliens, Doctor, do you think we\u2019ll see the Krynoid again?\u201d The Doctor and William were idly standing by, enjoying tea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMr. Wayne,\u201d replied the Doctor, \u201cI\u2019ve gotten into contact with the Galactic Floral Society and Krynoids are still a tough subject to study. A lot of researchers still go missing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStill, that herbicide should be given to the Justice League,\u201d said William. \u201cMaybe Superman\u2019s fortress has something in its libraries about Krynoids.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wouldn\u2019t put it past Clark to have an entry on Krynoids,\u201d muttered Selina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn any event, we have to go,\u201d said the Doctor as she finished her tea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAlready, Miss Doctor?\u201d asked Alfred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTime waits for no Time Lord,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cWilliam, how would you feel about taking a trip to Florana?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026Animal, vegetable, or mineral?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA planet-wide beach paradise,\u201d explained the Doctor. \u201cThe bubbles in the sea are effervescent! You can\u2019t sink in it, no matter how far out you are!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFun in the sun, huh?\u201d mused William. \u201c\u2026I could do with that! The plants there aren\u2019t carnivorous, are they?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNope! Strictly autotrophs!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen what are we waiting for?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBruce? Any of your family want to come with us?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026I think I\u2019m good,\u201d replied Bruce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSame here,\u201d agreed Selina. \u201cI\u2019ll keep to Earth, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd I\u2019d rather not get lost in your TARDIS again,\u201d supplied Damian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAlfred?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026I\u2019d be delighted,\u201d replied Alfred, \u201cbut, unfortunately, I already have a holiday booked. I\u2019m aware your vehicle is time-travel capable, but I\u2019d rather not run the risk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll right then. Just thought we\u2019d ask,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cCome along, William!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Doctor and William had changed for their new destination. \u201cMy first new planet!\u201d said William as he packed the sunscreen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ll love Florana!\u201d replied the Doctor as she checked her new swimsuit in the mirror. \u201cAir like a magic potion! I feel centuries younger after a good holiday there!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCenturies?\u201d asked William. \u201cYou Time Lords live that long?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMillenia, if we\u2019re lucky!\u201d The time rotor then stopped as the TARDIS made that familiar thud that indicated an arrival. \u201cAHA! We\u2019ve landed!\u201d The Doctor dashed to the door! \u201cNow, let\u2019s-!\u201d No sooner did she open the door than wind threw snow and cold air into the TARDIS. \u201cGOOD GRIEF!\u201d That was too cold, even for a Time Lord! She shut the door immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat didn\u2019t sound like fun in the sun,\u201d snarked William as the Doctor checked the console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat doesn\u2019t make sense,\u201d she muttered. \u201cI know I set the controls for Florana! \u2026Oh\u2026Oh, very funny, dear!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDoctor?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe TARDIS brought us to Telos, an ice world. It\u2019s her idea of being funny.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh, ha ha!\u201d William said to the TARDIS console.
