Gigan was getting closer, despite all the firepower the EDF was throwing at him. \u201cDoctor, you better have something clever up your sleeves as usual!\u201d gulped William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m not too sure I\u2019d call this clever, but desperate,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019re not planning on taking us back to the Xilien ship, are you?\u201d asked Martha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo way, she\u2019s planning on going alone,\u201d guessed Mickey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Mickey, I would rather you DIDN\u2019T guess my plans, even if you are correct,\u201d muttered the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t be serious!\u201d protested William. \u201cThe Xiliens will kill you like they did Professor Yoshimura!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat ship is their only means of controlling Gigan,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cWith their systems sabotaged, Gigan will be more vulnerable to Godzilla and his allies. \u2026And no, I\u2019m not putting you back in that situation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut you\u2019ll-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWilliam! \u2026Just\u2026please. \u2026Let me do this alone. You witnessed enough death today and I can\u2019t promise I can keep you alive if I let you come with me. And that goes for all of you. I\u2019ll fight this alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou will not!\u201d argued Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019d think that what Davros and his Daleks did to Earth,\u201d remarked Mickey, \u201cproved you work better with someone by your side.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd if you\u2019re seriously gonna tell us that being the last of the Time Lords makes you permanently alone, then shame on you!\u201d snapped Martha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, I faced down ghosts, Sontarans, Doctor Doom, Loki, a Krynoid, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn,\u201d said William. \u201cI even preserved Grandpa Zeddemore\u2019s history in the process. I\u2019m coming with you to protect my present, even if I have to sneak onto the TARDIS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat goes for me!\u201d said Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd me!\u201d agreed Mickey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd me!\u201d finished Martha. The Doctor was about to argue, then Gigan roared! He was almost on top of the base! He prepared to fire his eye beam\u2026when a stream of blue fire hit his backside! It wasn\u2019t enough to kill him, but it caught his attention. Everyone looked out to see Godzilla, ready to fight! Godzilla gave off a challenge roar and Gigan roared back, accepting his challenge!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Come on!\u201d the Doctor called to her companions, old and new! She led them back into the base as Gigan slashed at Godzilla with his scythes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, what\u2019s the plan?!\u201d asked Sato as everyone ran through the base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe sneak onto the Xilien ship,\u201d replied the Doctor, \u201ctake down any guards, sever their control over Gigan by any means necessary, Gigan becomes confused and is overwhelmed by three monsters attacking him, then we cause the ship to self-destruct and return to the TARDIS and escape.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBy the skin of our teeth, by the sound of that plan,\u201d remarked William. \u201cAny finesse needed?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ll provide the finesse,\u201d answered the Doctor. \u201cFailing that, just break the machines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSounds like a plan!\u201d said Mickey. They arrived at the TARDIS and the Doctor herded her friends in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, you\u2019ve redecorated,\u201d observed Martha as she and Mickey took in their surroundings. \u201c\u2026I don\u2019t like it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, come on,\u201d argued Mickey, \u201cyou gotta admit it\u2019s a lot cleaner than that coral reef theme she had going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt really IS bigger on the inside!\u201d breathed Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh dear,\u201d remarked the Doctor as she checked various readings. \u201cThe Xilien ship is tunneling its way out of the mountain! This is gonna be tricky!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s taking off?!\u201d yelped William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaybe to get better radio control over Gigan?\u201d guessed Mickey. \u201cI mean, they were underground and that can jam up radios.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBetter and direct,\u201d replied the Doctor as she set the TARDIS in motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gigan, now aware of Godzilla, flew through the air, dodging Godzilla\u2019s fire. Godzilla was getting frustrated now. Every time he fights the cyborg chicken, Gigan comes back stronger! Gigan took advantage of Godzilla\u2019s frustration and fired harpoon cables hidden in his forearms. They buried themselves into Godzilla\u2019s back and extended backward-facing spikes once inside his flesh, making them as difficult and painful to remove as a cactus spine or porcupine quill! Godzilla was bleeding bad! His Regeneration Factor could heal the damage, but not with the harpoons still stuck in his back! Gigan then pulled Godzilla towards him by wrapping the cables around his scythes. Gigan then activated the buzzsaw in his chest! Godzilla was now inches away from the whirling blades\u2026when a green sap splattered all over Gigan, burning what exposed flesh there was and melting the cables! Godzilla took advantage of that and pulled all the harpoons out of his back, his Regeneration Factor finally healing the wounds. He turned to see a giant plant monster with a glowing orange core and a crocodile mouth with sharp teeth and vines with open, toothy mouths! Godzilla recognized the monster as Biollante! He was about to fire when Mothra squeaked overhead. Gigan saw this and took off after Mothra, firing his laser eye. Biollante then spewed her acidic sap at Gigan. Godzilla then realized that Biollante was fighting against only Gigan. He begrudgingly accepted Biollante\u2019s help and fired his atomic fire breath at the cyborg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The input from three opponents was too much for Gigan and his Xilien masters! The Handler\u2019s fingers were furiously dancing across the console, trying to take control of the situation. \u201cCome on! Get SOMEONE in the head!\u201d he complained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis situation is unacceptable!\u201d snarled the Controller as she banged her fist on the armrest of her chair. \u201cWe must destroy those beasts and-!\u201d She was interrupted by a noise. \u201cWhat machine is that?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cController, LOOK!\u201d called the Commander as he pointed out the TARDIS materializing right there on the bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Time Lord!\u201d hissed the Controller. \u201cDESTROY THAT THING!\u201d As the Xiliens raised their weapons, the TARDIS doors opened and a cylinder was thrown out. The cylinder exploded, filling the room with a white light and causing a ringing in the Xiliens\u2019 ears. The Doctor and her companions then left the TARDIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the one!\u201d called the Doctor as she pointed out a control console. The Xiliens were slowly regaining their sight!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor!\u201d warned Mickey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got to figure out the release command for Gigan!\u201d urged the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTIME LORD!\u201d shouted the Xilien Controller. She swung wildly, but William and Martha restrained her. \u201cRELEASE ME, YOU APES!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve heard enough monkey \u2018jokes\u2019 from the white folk back home!\u201d retorted William. \u201cI don\u2019t need them from knock-off grays!\u201d The Doctor continued her work, unaware of the Commander regaining his sight and bringing his gun to bear on her!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDOCTOR!\u201d called Martha as she leapt on the Commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGET OFF!\u201d he shouted. He fired wildly. The Doctor got out of the way and a shot destroyed the console!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYOU FOOL, COMMANDER!\u201d shouted the Controller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI can\u2019t regain control!\u201d called the Handler as he tried to make the console work. \u201cHunter Zero is under his own power!\u201d The Xiliens were so focused on Gigan, they didn\u2019t notice the humans and Time Lord slip away in the TARDIS!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gigan was LIVID! Forced to serve ants?! Not this time! Now he\u2019s free and he\u2019ll indulge in torturing them! He took off after the Xilien ship as it tried to leave Earth. Godzilla and Biollante prepared to fire, but Mothra shrieked something. She continued giving her squeaks as if to dissuade her allies. Biollante looked at Mothra in confusion, then powered down. Godzilla, however, was another story. He wasn\u2019t going to take any chances. His dorsal spines went from blue to red! He then fired his strongest fire, the Red Spiral Heat Ray, right at the retreating Gigan and Xilien ship! The attack struck them, blowing a fatal hole in Gigan\u2019s chest and destroying the Xilien ship! The dead monster and craft then plummeted to the ocean, causing a huge wave and then sinking to the bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the EDF base, Takahashi and his men saw the remaining monsters acknowledging their work and Godzilla grunting his acceptance of Biollante\u2019s permanent presence on Monster Island. \u201c\u2026He did good as usual,\u201d said a soldier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey all did,\u201d corrected Takahashi. \u201cIt\u2019s clear the Doctor and her friends succeeded or Gigan wouldn\u2019t have taken off after the Xiliens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026But that means\u2026\u201d realized another soldier. Takahashi frowned, practically finishing the soldier\u2019s thought telepathically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Get me UNIT Europe and UNIT Japan,\u201d he ordered. \u201cI need to inform them both about their sacrifices.\u201d The soldier was about to hurry off and obey when\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Isn\u2019t that the\u2026?\u201d he asked. The TARDIS then faded into existence! Once it fully materialized, the Doctor and her team stumbled out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSkin of our teeth, that\u2019s what it was!\u201d coughed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPar for the course, then?\u201d joked Mickey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor!\u201d greeted Takahashi. \u201cI thought you all died on the Xilien ship!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe almost did, Takahashi-san,\u201d replied Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut, as you can see,\u201d finished the Doctor, \u201cwe\u2019re all in one piece!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Well, I WAS gonna tell UNIT Europe and Unit Japan,\u201d said Takahashi, \u201cthat you all made a heroic sacrifice, but I think we can tell them something a lot more pleasant!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI quite agree!\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou guys go on ahead,\u201d said William. \u201cI need to rest a bit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll right. See you later!\u201d called the Doctor as she, Martha, Sato, and Mickey followed Takahashi. Once they left, William looked at the small door with the phone instructions on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After making their reports, the Doctor led her companions back to the TARDIS. \u201cWant a lift back home?\u201d she asked Martha and Mickey. \u201cFor old time\u2019s sake?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKate\u2019s already sent a plane for us,\u201d said Martha. \u201cBesides, I think I\u2019ve had enough nostalgia for today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSame here, Doctor,\u201d agreed Mickey. \u201cBut it was fun to see you and the TARDIS again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI need to stay here,\u201d said Sato. \u201cProfessor Yoshimura\u2019s work needs to continue and I\u2019m the best one to carry on his legacy of science.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNow THAT is how you honor a scientist,\u201d praised the Doctor. \u201cWelp, must dash! See you all sooner or later! The latter being the more plausible!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBye, Doctor!\u201d called her friends as she headed off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor returned to the TARDIS to see William using the phone in the door. Her hearts sank when she heard him wrap up the conversation. \u201cYeah. \u2026Yeah, be home soon. \u2026Love you too. \u2026Bye-bye.\u201d He hung up and saw the Doctor. \u201cOh! Doctor! I\u2026I didn\u2019t see you there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWh\u2026Who was that on the other end?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy folks,\u201d replied William. \u201cThe Avengers told them what happened in New York and told them I was travelling with you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I see,\u201d sighed the Doctor. \u201c\u2026I would show you more. The Moons of Tasacta, the Fourteenth Galaxy of Contemplation. \u2026You\u2019re such a good friend, like Mickey and Martha. \u2026You\u2026you\u2026y-you just wanted to let your folks know you\u2019re okay,\u201d she finally realized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWait, did you think I was gonna leave you now?!\u201d laughed William. \u201cLook, I don\u2019t exactly have a passport, for one thing! And another, it\u2019s still fun, travelling with you! Besides, I still want to see another planet! On purpose, this time!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRight then!\u201d said the Doctor, sighing in relief. \u201cHow about a human colony far into your future?\u201d She and William entered the TARDIS just as Martha arrived. The TARDIS dematerialized and Martha waved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
