\u201cWe\u2019re not\u2026designed\u2026to run\u2026at sonic\u2026speeds!\u201d panted William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think\u2026my hearts\u2026are gonna burst!\u201d wheezed the Doctor. Somehow, she preferred running when there was something chasing her with the intent to kill her. At that moment, Tails left the workshop the Time Lord and human were collapsing in front of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Sonic, really?\u201d asked Tails in a deadpan voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on! It was fun!\u201d argued Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWho are they?\u201d quizzed Tails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, they\u2019re both doctors,\u201d replied Sonic. \u201cI ran into their time ship and they fixed me up. The lady\u2019s just called the Doctor and the man\u2019s Dr. William Davies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Time ship?\u201d repeated Tails. \u201cYou know what, I\u2019ll ask them later. Help me get their breath back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and Willam were so grateful for resting their tired feet and having tall glasses of water on standby. \u201cOof! My dogs are killing me!\u201d said William as he dipped his feet in a tray of water. The Doctor had taken her shoes off and felt her feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOuch!\u201d she said as she pulled her hand back from how hot her feet were. \u201cOh, be quiet, Fido!\u201d She then dipped her feet into a water tray and sighed. \u201cAaaaahhhhh\u2026much better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoing all right?\u201d Tails asked his guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMuch better now,\u201d replied William. \u201cThank you so much.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, Sonic said you both fly through time and space in a dimensionally transcendental box?\u201d quizzed Tails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I doubt he used those words, but yes, we do,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Wow!\u201d Tails had a look of wonder in his eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cErm, Tails,\u201d said Sonic, \u201cyou wanted me here earlier. Why?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, yeah! Eggman\u2019s on the move again!\u201d Tails flicked a switch and darkened the room. A projector then displayed the data he gathered. \u201cMy drones spotted Eggman\u2019s robots chasing down two people. One is Amy, don\u2019t know why he\u2019s giving himself that kind of headache, the other is a Miss Tarae, a human woman.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA human?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cI read somewhere that Eggman only turns animals or Mobians into robots. What\u2019s his angle in kidnapping a human?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m not sure, but it\u2019s nothing good,\u201d replied Tails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen I say we kick his fat butt again!\u201d declared Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019re not gonna make me and the Doctor run there, are you?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo one\u2019s running to Eggman,\u201d replied Tails. \u201cWe\u2019re taking my plane.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Aren\u2019t you a bit young to fly a plane?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTrust me,\u201d said Sonic, \u201cmy little bro here is a genius at mechanics AND flying!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and William were in Tails\u2019 plane in the seats behind him while Sonic stayed on the wing. \u201cIsn\u2019t that dangerous?!\u201d the Doctor called to Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTrust me, I\u2019ve done this before!\u201d replied Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s getting him to NOT do it that\u2019s the issue,\u201d remarked Tails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhere are we even going?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo Robotropolis,\u201d replied Tails. \u201cThat\u2019s where Eggman\u2019s got his prisoners.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHow are we gonna get there without being shot at?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026We\u2019re gonna be shot at, sorry to say,\u201d muttered Tails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the control room, Eggman and his robots were pouring over the surveillance cameras. \u201cWhat is taking that blue pest so long?!\u201d complained Eggman. \u201cYou\u2019d think he\u2019d get here earlier, given his powers!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFather,\u201d came a voice. A hologram of a little girl with white hair, a black dress, and red eyes and spots that looked like red data lines on her body appeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, Sage?\u201d asked Eggman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTails\u2019 biplane has been spotted in our northern skies,\u201d reported the girl, Sage the AI. \u201cReports indicate that Sonic is onboard that plane with two humans.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s see them!\u201d Sage obeyed Eggman and put up an image of the plane with Tails and his passengers. \u201cExcellent! Bring them down!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, Father,\u201d replied Sage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Flying robots were deployed and flew towards the plane. \u201cHoo boy! Here they come!\u201d warned Tails. He pulled off some fancy flying maneuvers as he got closer. \u201cHang on, everyone!\u201d he warned. \u201cThis is gonna be bumpy!\u201d The plane managed to avoid the weapons fire of the flying robots and Robotropolis\u2019 anti-aircraft weapons as it touched down on a landing strip. More robots arrived. Sonic leapt off the plane, curled into a ball, and dashed into the robots, turning them into scrap. Once a path was cleared, Tails and the Doctor made their way to the main door. Tails attached a device to the lock, then the device smoked and sparked. \u201cOh, come on!\u201d complained Tails. \u201cStupid Sage, upgrading everything faster!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAllow me,\u201d replied the Doctor. She pulled the lock\u2019s panel off and began rewiring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStop,\u201d ordered Sage\u2019s voice. Her hologram appeared. \u201cYou are intruding on Dr. Eggman\u2019s territory.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA real artificial intelligence!\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cHow do you do? I\u2019m the Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou must leave,\u201d directed Sage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYour creator kidnapped Tails\u2019 friend and a random woman,\u201d retorted the Doctor as she continued her work. \u201cWe won\u2019t leave without them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf you will not leave willingly,\u201d warned Sage, \u201cthen you will be prisoners.\u201d By then, the Doctor had rewired the door control, and the door opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVoila!\u201d she cheered. She then saw the robot horde. \u201c\u2026Oops.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOUT OF THE WAY!\u201d called Sonic. He dashed into the robots at supersonic speeds, creating a sonic boom! The Doctor and her friends held their ears up until\u2026robots grabbed them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHalt, Hedgehog!\u201d called a robot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, right! That ain\u2019t my-!\u201d Sonic stopped when he saw the Doctor, William, and Tails. \u201cHey! You let them go right now!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSurrender and your friends will be spared,\u201d said Sage as she appeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSonic, I rather think you should surrender,\u201d remarked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWHAT?!\u201d protested Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the most expedient way to get to Eggman right now,\u201d explained the Doctor. \u201cYou know the routine.\u201d Sonic blinked, then his face lit up as he realized the Doctor\u2019s plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll right then, Sage, I surrender,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVery wise, Sonic,\u201d replied Sage. Robots then grabbed him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey! Watch the quills!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou want answers, don\u2019t you, Doctor?\u201d guessed William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, I do!\u201d confirmed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group was brought to the main control center. Eggman was in his chair as usual, overseeing operations. \u201cDon\u2019t you get tired of that view, Eggbreath?\u201d asked Sonic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot in a million years, old friend!\u201d cackled Eggman. \u201cBut, believe it or not, it\u2019s not you I\u2019m after.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, I heard about Ms. Rose and Miss Tarae being taken,\u201d remarked the Doctor. \u201cBut it was to lure Sonic here, yes?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot just Sonic, my dear Doctor,\u201d replied Eggman. Everyone goggled at that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I\u2026can\u2019t say I\u2019ve had the \u2018pleasure\u2019,\u201d said the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, this IS our first meeting,\u201d answered Eggman, \u201cbut I stumbled upon one of your people before and they were rather\u2026reluctant to give me the secrets of time and space. They told me you would use your brain to get out of a fight and that your time ship looks like a blue box.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, I\u2019m not sure I like how accurate Eggman\u2019s associate is,\u201d muttered William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNeither do I,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTake them to the cells!\u201d Eggman ordered his robots. \u201cPerhaps the Doctor will get answers there!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Everyone was put into a cell with the Doctor next to Miss Tarae. \u201c\u2026Why would he go after you, Madam?\u201d the Doctor pondered to herself aloud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhich one?\u201d asked Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe human one,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know!\u201d replied Miss Tarae. \u201cHe\u2019s never given me a straight answer, only talking about how time and space is his! It\u2019s just\u2026ooooooohhhh!\u201d The poor girl started tapping on the wall. William heard it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Can\u2019t say as I\u2019m familiar with morse code,\u201d he remarked. \u201cYou ever heard that before, Doctor? \u2026Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026It can\u2019t be!\u201d whispered the Doctor. She listened intently to the tapping. It was a specific series of four short taps\u2026like a Time Lord\u2019s Hearts-beat! She quickly turned to the robot guarding the cell. \u201cPen and paper!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRepeat,\u201d droned the robot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI need pen and paper!\u201d The robot sent the request along the semi-hive mind Eggman had programmed, then it printed out paper and gave the Doctor a pen. \u201cAll right, how do you spell Miss Tarae?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cM-I-S-S-T-A-R-A-E,\u201d droned the robot. The Doctor wrote out the letters then rearranged six. M stayed where it was, then one of the A\u2019s got moved, then an S, then T, then E, and finally R!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Master!\u201d breathed the Doctor in fear. Miss Tarae then chuckled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGuard, she\u2019s figured me out!\u201d she said. The Doctor\u2019s blood froze. That confirmation was all she needed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, you\u2019ve got the serious voice,\u201d said William. \u201cYou were only like that with the Krynoid and Gurast. Do you know Miss Tarae here?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, she does,\u201d chuckled Miss Tarae as the robot let her out of her cell!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo that\u2019s why Eggman knows about the TARDIS!\u201d hissed the Doctor. \u201cYOU told him about it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, who is she?!\u201d called William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWould someone tell me what\u2019s going on here?!\u201d called Amy. The Doctor hesitated to answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, Doctor?\u201d asked Miss Tarae. \u201cAren\u2019t you going to answer your friends\u2019 questions?\u201d The Doctor sighed, hating that she\u2019s indulging in the woman\u2019s game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
