\u201cRassilon, do you know of any planets that look like stars?\u201d quizzed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026N\u2026Not that I know of. Why?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe coordinates for the fourth segment seem to be indicating that such a planet exists.\u201d The Doctor displayed the coordinates on the scanner, even giving an image of the planet. It was a yellow, five-pointed star with two rings around the planet intersecting in the middle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Rather odd,\u201d remarked Rassilon. \u201cWhat does the TARDIS say it\u2019s called?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt appears the name of the planet is\u2026Popstar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPopstar?!\u201d asked Amy\u2019s voice as she and William entered the console room. \u201cLet me see! Let me see!\u201d She saw the planet on the scanners. \u201cOoh! I know people from there!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAmy?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPopstar is home to a place called Dream Land, a kingdom known for peace and quiet!\u201d explained Amy. \u201cIt\u2019s the perfect little land if you like that sort of thing! Though, usually, a few warriors from it compete in a tournament Sonic joined called the Smash Brothers Tournament!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think I heard about that tournament,\u201d mused Rassilon. \u201cFighters from various timelines and sub-dimensions compete in a fighting competition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m usually a spectator in that tournament,\u201d continued Amy, \u201cbut I made friends with the fighters from Popstar! Come on! Let\u2019s go see!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, here\u2019s hoping Popstar stays peaceful,\u201d said the Doctor as she set the TARDIS on course for Popstar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a grassy landscape, next to a tree, a dome-shaped house sat on a hill. It was a bright, sunny day and inside, the owner of the house was snoozing away. The owner\u2026wasn\u2019t humanoid, for a start. It was a pink ball with flipper arms and big feet, but no legs. Its face was in the center of the ball, two eyes, cheeks, and a mouth. It also identified as male. The pink ball-person snoozed, snoring softly. His sleep was disturbed when the sound of the TARDIS arriving echoed through his house. \u201cMmm! Poyo?\u201d he mumbled when he woke up. He got out of bed and waddled to the door to look outside. He blinked in surprise when the TARDIS materialized right in his front yard. The TARDIS made its usual thud and opened the door. \u201cPoyo?\u201d quizzed the pink creature. The TARDIS crew then came out. Amy\u2019s face lit up when she saw the creature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKIRBY!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAmy?!\u201d asked the creature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s right, Kirby!\u201d replied Amy. \u201cI know it\u2019s not my usual red dress, but-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAmy!\u201d cheered the creature happily as it jumped into Amy\u2019s arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhoa! Hey!\u201d laughed Amy. She then turned to her friends. \u201cEveryone, this is Kirby, the hero of Popstar!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHiii!\u201d greeted Kirby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA baby Star Warrior?!\u201d yelped the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI thought Star Warriors were myths,\u201d remarked Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKirby\u2019s no myth,\u201d assured Amy. \u201cAnd neither is his appetite. William, you got that cake I asked for?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRight here,\u201d replied William as he pulled out a pink cake with strawberries on it. Kirby\u2019s eyes lit up. He then opened his mouth and created a powerful suction! \u201cWHOA! HEY!\u201d yelped William. Kirby then sucked the cake up and ate it, plate and all. Kirby then burped and the plate came out, clean as a whistle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStill a hungry boy, aren\u2019t you, Kirby?\u201d giggled Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPoyo!\u201d agreed Kirby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDefinitely a baby Star Warrior,\u201d said Rassilon. \u201cBut there must be an adult one nearby.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat would be Meta Knight,\u201d explained Amy. \u201cAlthough, I wouldn\u2019t say he\u2019s nearby. \u2026Unless\u2026Kirby, do you know where Meta Knight\u2019s ship, the Halberd<\/em>, is?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMeta?\u201d asked Kirby. He then thought for a bit, then grinned. \u201cPoyo!\u201d he said with a smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou do? Show us!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAmy, can we really afford to see this Meta Knight?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cWe still need to look for the Key to Time segment here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDon\u2019t worry, Meta Knight can help us find it if he understands the situation,\u201d replied Amy. \u201cKirby, lead the way!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPoyoi!\u201d called Kirby as he took off to the east.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCome on, everyone!\u201d called Amy. The group ran after Kirby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A navy-blue ball person with a mask, glowing yellow eyes, a cape, armored boots, mitt-style gloves, and a golden sword with curved blades jutting out of the main one was on the bridge of his personal warship. He had detected strange readings of a temporal nature and was trying to puzzle them out. He couldn\u2019t help but feel like someone was watching him. As he studied the readings, an orange thing with a face, but no mouth, approached him. This was a Waddle-Dee and this specific one wore a sailor\u2019s hat. \u201cMeta Knight, Sir!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHm?\u201d asked the ball-person, Meta Knight. \u201cWhat is it, Sailor Waddle-Dee?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cKirby is at the entrance ramp to the Halberd<\/em>, Sir,\u201d reported Sailor Waddle-Dee. \u201cHe has companions with him. One of them looks like Amy Rose from Mobius, but in a rather\u2026goth outfit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Bring them to the bridge,\u201d ordered Meta Knight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A few minutes later, the TARDIS crew and Kirby were brought to the bridge. Meta Knight was still pouring over the readings. \u201cI presume you have business here, visitors,\u201d said Meta Knight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Is the black really that out of place for me?\u201d asked Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI normally see you in red,\u201d replied Meta Knight as he turned to face everyone. \u201cSo, Miss Rose, you decided to visit Popstar. But I don\u2019t see Sonic, unless he\u2019s out for a run as usual.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNot this time,\u201d said Amy. \u201cI\u2019m here with my new friends. Meet William from 21st<\/sup> Century Earth and Rassilon and the Doctor of-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRassilon?!\u201d Meta Knight drew his sword. \u201cSo, if that\u2019s THE Doctor, then I must surmise that the Time War has begun again! Not here on Popstar! You and the Daleks won\u2019t touch it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe can\u2019t restart the Time War anyway,\u201d replied Rassilon. \u201cGallifrey is no more, Star Warrior.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRassilon speaks the truth,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cBesides, we have more pressing issues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDo you now?\u201d hissed Meta Knight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMeta Knight, I promise, we\u2019re not here to recruit you for any war,\u201d said Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe\u2019re on a quest for the Key to Time,\u201d explained the Doctor. \u201cHave you heard of it?\u201d Meta Knight sheathed his sword.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ve heard that bedtime story, yes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s not a bedtime story, Mr. Meta Knight,\u201d replied William. \u201cWe have half the segments already.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe next one is here on Popstar,\u201d explained Amy. \u201cWe have a tracer, but we need to know where on Popstar it is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf I can suss out the temporal anomalies my ship is picking up,\u201d said Meta Knight, \u201cperhaps I can help and get the Time Lords off this planet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPoyo?\u201d asked Kirby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cKirby, the Time Lords were dangerous, setting rules upon time itself and keeping other powers from discovering time travel to the extent they reached,\u201d replied Meta Knight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026The sad thing is, that kind of gate-keeping is one of the reasons I left Gallifrey,\u201d remarked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat temporal anomalies are you getting?\u201d asked Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPerhaps you can figure it out,\u201d remarked Meta Knight as he stepped aside to let the Doctor and Rassilon do their work. The two Time Lords checked over the readings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026That looks like\u2026\u201d said Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPotential time energy,\u201d finished the Doctor. \u201cLike someone is dropping people into the past to live out their remaining years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n As the two Time Lords worked, Amy, Kirby, and William followed a Waddle-Dee as he led them on a tour of the Halberd<\/em>. \u201cKing Dedede is very generous with funding this ship,\u201d said the Waddle-Dee. \u201cThough I suspect it comes from the taxes he collects.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHow IS Dedede these days?\u201d asked Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Looking kind of haggard. Two.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHaggard?\u201d asked William. \u201cMaybe I should make a house call. You said he\u2019s a king. Where\u2019s his castle?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOh, not far from here. Two.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Two?\u201d quizzed Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHm? Two what?\u201d asked the Waddle-Dee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo, you just said two,\u201d said Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo, I didn\u2019t!\u201d protested the Waddle-Dee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m sure you did.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI didn\u2019t! Two.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI heard that,\u201d said William. \u201cYou just said two.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou guys are crazy! I didn\u2019t count!\u201d Just then, the lights flickered. \u201cOh for-! I just had them fixed! One.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAmy, something weird\u2019s going on here,\u201d muttered William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo kidding. Waddle-Dees don\u2019t count absentmindedly,\u201d replied Amy. She then saw something. \u201cHey, that wasn\u2019t there earlier, was it?\u201d she asked. William turned to see that a statue was there. It looked like an angel in a chiton covering its face as if it were crying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHuh, interesting art piece,\u201d said William. \u201cHey, Waddle-Dee, can you-?\u201d he turned to speak to the Waddle-Dee, only he wasn\u2019t there. \u201cWaddle-Dee?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHuh?\u201d Amy now looked around. \u201cHey, Waddle-Dee!\u201d called Amy. As she looked, she saw that the statue wasn\u2019t covering its face. \u201c\u2026Um, William\u2026\u201d she said. William looked at the statue and goggled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat thing was covering its face, right?\u201d he said. The lights flickered.
