\u201cIf they really ARE as emotionless as they say,\u201d replied the Doctor, \u201cthey can\u2019t feel it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, what now?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNow? Now we stop them,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cybermen guarding the room the Doctor and her team escorted the prisoners to the landing site after a few hours. The CyberMaster and Cyber-Controller were still arguing. \u201cCyberMaster, I must repeat my objection to using only five of the six segments! The time alteration will degrade as our replica segment decays!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou are outside your function,\u201d replied the CyberMaster. He turned to the group. \u201cDoctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOne partially assembled Key to Time, as requested,\u201d she sighed as she pulled out the Key. Only one corner was missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDimensions established for substitute segment,\u201d reported a Cyberman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInform the fleet,\u201d ordered the CyberMaster. \u201cFinal phase will begin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith only five segments?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cSurely it\u2019s more logical to use a completed Key.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Doctor speaks the truth,\u201d said the Cyber-Controller. \u201cThe Cyber-Planner has predicted a seventy percent chance of failure if the full Key to Time is not utilized.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur ascension cannot be delayed,\u201d replied the CyberMaster. \u201cWe shall proceed with all speed.\u201d That was when the instrument panels of the communications console blared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInterference with communications, CyberMaster,\u201d reported a Cyberman. \u201cTransmission and reception affected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor!\u201d said the CyberMaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t look at me!\u201d lied the Doctor. \u201cI was locked in the room with everyone here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, yes!\u201d said William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFalse,\u201d replied the CyberMaster. \u201cI have examined your time stream from the moment of your arrival. You have affected communications with the fleet by using sonic waves devised to be\u2026pleasing to certain human ears.\u201d He turned to the Cyberman running the communications console. \u201cEngage monitoring equipment.\u201d The Cyberman obeyed and a song played.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rassilon must be shot again during regeneration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNO!\u201d called a voice. \u201cMOON HEALING ESCALATION!\u201d A shockwave of energy then tore through the Cybermen, causing the armor of a few to fall apart, including the Cyber-Controller, and revealing the people they used to be! Neo Queen Serenity goggled in surprise at who the Cyber-Controller was!<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBERYL?!\u201d she yelped. It was, indeed, Usagi I\u2019s first nemesis, Queen Beryl, complete with blood-red hair and red eyes with yellow sclera!<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou\u2026backstabbing\u2026piece of scrap!\u201d snarled Beryl as she summoned a purple maxi-dress and black crown on her body. The CyberMaster and the remaining Cybermen then regained their footing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUpgrade complete,\u201d droned the CyberMaster. \u201cYou requested power. I granted you that power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou enslaved me! I\u2019ll have you destroyed for this!\u201d Beryl raised her staff and unleashed an energy attack. A few Cybermen intercepted and were vaporized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUpgrade complete,\u201d said another Cyberman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cEveryone, no!\u201d called the Doctor. \u201cThe Cybermen can adapt around attacks!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat are they, Borg?!\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI have to do this!\u201d said Sailor Saturn as she summoned a glaive! \u201cSILENCE GLAIVE-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNO!\u201d shouted Neo Queen Serenity! \u201cPlease, just wait! Wait a minute! Hotaru, put that down! It\u2019s all coming together!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYour Majesty?\u201d asked Sailor Saturn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMama, what are you saying?!\u201d asked Neo Sailor Moon. \u2026That was when the communications console stopped with the heavy metal and blasted a high-pitched noise that affected all the Cybermen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat have you done?!\u201d demanded the CyberMaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat jamming signal,\u201d explained the Doctor, \u201ccarried the codes needed to switch off the emotional inhibitors! And not just for your forces here, but for the fleet on the other end of your time corridor!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNo! This was not foreseen!\u201d argued the CyberMaster. Unforeseen, yes, but still very possible. The Cyber-Leader collapsed, then saw his reflection in the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026I\u2019m so sorry,\u201d said the Doctor. The Cyber-leader screamed before his chest exploded. And it wasn\u2019t just the Cyber-leader that self-destructed! All the Cybermen were collapsing and exploding after their emotions were restored to them. The CyberMaster then collapsed. \u201cRight! Now, time corridor!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMachine\u2019s over there!\u201d called William. The Doctor looked at where William was pointing, then got to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCan\u2019t we just smash it?!\u201d asked Neo Sailor Moon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cToo risky!\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cIt could cause another temporal disaster greater than what you lot were investigating!\u201d She checked over the machine, then made several calculations, then enacted her planned shut-down sequence on the machine. The time corridor then closed and the Doctor stepped back. \u201cNow it can be smashed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAllow me,\u201d said Amy as she summoned her hammer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026A new kind of magical girl?\u201d asked Sailor Saturn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026I dunno,\u201d mused Amy. \u201cMaybe. We\u2019ll see.\u201d She then brought the hammer down on the time corridor generator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd that, as they say, is that,\u201d sighed the Doctor. By then, Setsuna arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDoctor, it worked!\u201d she said. \u201cThe solar system knows about the origins of the Deimos Temporal Disaster and are preparing accordingly for any Cyberman incursions!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSo all that\u2019s left is an official renewal of our oath of friendship,\u201d sighed Neo Queen Serenity happily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd I say we\u2019re more than ready!\u201d said Taxona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cY\u2026You fools\u2026\u201d came a voice. The Doctor turned to the prone CyberMaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cStill functional, I see,\u201d remarked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou\u2026you gave\u2026these apes\u2026the means of\u2026time travel!\u201d gasped the CyberMaster. \u201cSecrets\u2026that were\u2026meant\u2026for us\u2026alone! \u2026SHE\u2026made it\u2026so!\u201d He pointed at Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Do we know you?\u201d asked Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou\u2026promised me\u2026immortality!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOddly enough, that doesn\u2019t narrow it down. All I could get from that was that you played my game in the Death Zone and made it to the Dark Tower, my tomb.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Is speaking telepathically still available to you?\u201d the Doctor asked the CyberMaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026C\u2026Contact\u2026\u201d strained the CyberMaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cContact,\u201d replied the Doctor. She then got flashes of memories from the CyberMaster. Memories of an old man telling off a young boy on Gallifrey to respect tradition, of a middle-aged man carefully constructing events so a Time Lord\u2019s name was protected, of an old man giving a strange man with a scarf his first nine out of ten, the highest grade the strange man ever received, and of an old man putting on a ring despite a hologram of a trickster giving him opportunities to back away, of turning into stone, of being freed only to become a weapon, then\u2026the Doctor gasped as she backed away and ended the telepathic conference. \u201cBorusa!\u201d she whispered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBorusa? You mean that imprisoned Time Lord I made into a possibility engine during the Time War?\u201d asked Rassilon. \u201cThat\u2019s who this CyberMaster is?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMy teacher during the days of the Academy!\u201d confirmed the Doctor. \u201cBut\u2026how?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe\u2026Master\u2026gave me\u2026a new chance\u2026\u201d replied Borusa weakly through his Cyber-helmet. \u201cThis\u2026was only\u2026a temporary measure. \u2026I would\u2026restore\u2026our world!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Cybermen don\u2019t care for that!\u201d protested the Doctor. \u201cThere were ways for you to-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2026needed\u2026the Cybermen\u2019s\u2026technology,\u201d argued Borusa. \u201cI\u2026had to\u2026restore\u2026our time travel\u2026capabilities. \u2026But\u2026I only\u2026got\u2026the standard\u2026set of\u2026regenerations. \u2026That was\u2026my last\u2026incarnation\u2026Doctor. \u2026I needed\u2026continual\u2026regenerations\u2026until\u2026Gallifrey\u2026came back!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026You still sought a form of immortality?!\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cThat\u2019s why you\u2019re going after the Key to Time?! After what you went through, you STILL seek immortality?! You\u2019re mad! Magnificent, Sir, but mad!\u201d Borusa didn\u2019t have the strength to reply. The light in his chest unit went dark and he went silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026I once called immortality a curse,\u201d mumbled Rassilon. \u201c\u2026I lost sight of my end goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n With now five segments of the Key in their possession, the Doctor and her friends returned to the TARDIS. \u201cDoctor!\u201d called Setsuna. \u201cYou\u2019re not leaving yet, surely! There\u2019s still so much to do!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnd I\u2019m sure you and your fellow Queens will perform splendidly,\u201d assured the Doctor. \u201cBut we have a quest of our own to complete.\u201d Setsuna then looked at the Doctor\u2019s friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShe STILL tries to slip away quickly and quietly without a goodbye?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYep,\u201d replied William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUh huh,\u201d agreed Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA real bad habit of hers,\u201d remarked Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOI!\u201d protested the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cStill, the Key to Time IS important right now,\u201d said Setsuna. \u201cI expect my Garnet Orb will be returned?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhen we\u2019re through,\u201d promised the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBefore you go,\u201d said Setsuna, \u201cI need to speak to William.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMe?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFor a moment only.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Please make it quick,\u201d said the Doctor.
