Southwest of Central Hyrule, there was a plateau, the Great Plateau, the location of the Shrine of Resurrection where Link slept for a full century, losing a good portion of his memory in the process. The shrine travel gate was reactivated and three figures of blue light appeared. The blue light then faded into Link, Rassilon, and William. \u201c\u2026The Sheikah Tribe\u2019s ancestors made teleporters?!\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTechnically, the Zonai did, but the Sheikah made better ones,\u201d explained Link. He then looked at his right arm. \u201cSorry, Rauru.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo why are we here?\u201d asked Rassilon. \u201cWe have to find a way into Ganondorf\u2019s castle and rescue Zelda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRassilon, we have the tracer and\u2026well\u2026we ARE on a quest,\u201d sighed William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd as to why you\u2019re here,\u201d said Link, \u201cit\u2019s because there\u2019s a discovery we made that might give us a clue.\u201d Link led everyone out of the old Shrine and brought them to the base of a small mountain, Mount Hylia. Rassilon and William goggled once they saw a familiar structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Rassilon, isn\u2019t that-?!\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA bowship! \u2026MY bowship!\u201d confirmed Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIs this from after you sent it away from the TARDIS?\u201d Rassilon checked her key fob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Temporal origin confirmed. That IS from directly after I sent it away and roped you all into my quest for the Key to Time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s impossible,\u201d said Link. \u201cThe Sheikah say it\u2019s been buried for 12,000 years, longer than the Imprisoning War.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd we\u2019ve been searching for the Key for only weeks,\u201d replied William. \u201cPerspective is relative when you\u2019re time-traveling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd it looks like it was forced open recently,\u201d remarked Rassilon. \u201cAnd there\u2019s only three that could do that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut only one of those three was here early enough to do it,\u201d deduced William. \u201cSo, the question becomes what did Miss Tarae learn?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s check the flight logs,\u201d replied Rassilon. \u201cThey\u2019ll be the first thing she\u2019ll look for. They wouldn\u2019t have stopped recording until the ship landed here without a pilot.\u201d The three entered the bowship. \u201cThis is a new development,\u201d chuckled Rassilon. \u201cTo my knowledge, you two are the first non-Gallifreyans to enter a bowship.\u201d She headed to the main computer and keyed in a few commands. A screen switched on and an old man appeared. He was bald, wore red and gold Time Lord robes without the skull cap, held a staff with an elaborate design on top and a silver gauntlet on his left hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is the Bowship of Rassilon!\u201d barked the old man. \u201cIntruders, you shall be executed for this!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSecurity Override Gamma,\u201d replied Rassilon as she looked into an apparatus for scanning eyes. \u201cPasscode: Omega, Tecteun, V, One, One, Seven. Execute retina scan.\u201d The apparatus scanned her eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Security Override confirmed,\u201d reported the old man. \u201cSo, Rassilon, you regenerated from that Victorian woman. What\u2019s this, Spanish Dancer? You\u2019re letting the Doctor\u2019s favorite planet influence you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, shut up, Rassilon,\u201d scoffed Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHang on, did you just call him Rassilon?!\u201d asked William. \u201cThat\u2019s one of your previous incarnations?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the current human that\u2019s travelling with the Doctor, isn\u2019t it?\u201d asked the old man. \u201cThe one with the pink and black hedgehog girl that listened in to the briefing about our circumstances?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, Rassilon, it is. And yes, William, that computer program\u2019s avatar IS based off of one of my previous incarnations,\u201d confirmed Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIncarnations?\u201d asked Link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTime Lords stave off death by changing their bodies completely,\u201d explained William. \u201cA side effect includes a different personality. So, Rassilon, you Time Lords can change your sex?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOf course,\u201d replied Rassilon. \u201cIf I may boast, we Gallifreyans were the most advanced civilization in the universe. Social constructs like gender were beneath us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Yet you were the founder of Time LORD society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Yeah, shut up,\u201d grumbled Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA bit disrespectful, isn\u2019t he?\u201d remarked Old Man Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe\u2019s earned that right,\u201d replied Present Day Rassilon. \u201cNow, did you get any intruders here before us?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Master in a new female body, yes,\u201d confirmed Old Man Rassilon. \u201cShe discovered our begging the Doctor for help and tracked the TARDIS\u2019 flight path, sending a message about the Key to Time to various threats in those time zones.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo that\u2019s how people like the Autons and the Weeping Angels knew!\u201d realized William. \u201cAnd she\u2019s probably told Ganondorf!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll readings taken passively,\u201d explained Old Man Rassilon, \u201cindicated that the current monarch of this time, Zelda, is the last segment. Subsequent research of local history and legends confirm it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTold you,\u201d said Link. Present Day Rassilon sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s really all we needed to know,\u201d she said. \u201cRassilon, get this bowship out of here. Hyrule\u2019s had enough cultural contamination. Await this signal.\u201d She keyed in the frequency. \u201cThat will let you know that my mission is complete and that I am ready to be picked up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnderstood, Madame President Eternal,\u201d replied Old Man Rassilon. The ship then powered up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on, everyone, we need to leave,\u201d called Present Day Rassilon. Everyone left, then the bowship rose into the air and left the atmosphere of the planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026We could have used that to get to Ganondorf\u2019s castle,\u201d remarked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat would have resulted in cultural contamination,\u201d replied Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, we don\u2019t need that anyways,\u201d said Link. \u201cI\u2019ve got a better flying machine in mind!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You guys are making-?\u201d muttered William. \u201cYou know what, later. Right now, we\u2019re in a bit of a conundrum, what with Zelda being the last segment!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf the White Guardian gave me this mission, I wouldn\u2019t be so worried,\u201d said Rassilon. \u201cOnce finished, the Key would disperse, the items or people the segments once were would be restored, and the segments would find new forms. \u2026But it was the Black Guardian instead.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou think the Black Guardian would try and keep the Key?\u201d asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI know they will. \u2026We need to get to Ganondorf\u2019s castle to figure out what to do with the Doctor and Amy involved as well as Zelda.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd if Ganondorf or Miss Tarae get the tracer?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, we\u2019d better hope the Doctor can fix it on the fly. Link, you said you had a means of making us a way to get there?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWatch this!\u201d replied Link. He thrust his right hand out and several devices and panels appeared, creating a crude flying machine. \u201cThe Hyrule Sky King!\u201d said Link proudly. \u201cHop on!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026There is no way this thing is aerodynamic enough!\u201d replied William as he and Rassilon hopped on. Link then grabbed a control bar and the machine took off! He made it bob up and down, cackling all the while. Rassilon looked a little green in the gills. \u201cHey, quit waving bye-bye!\u201d complained William. \u201cI\u2019m getting sea-sick here!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, you\u2019re as bad as Zelda! This is fun!\u201d laughed Link as he continued flying the contraption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and Amy were brought to Zelda in her cell. The poor princess looked pensive. \u201cYour Highness?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I take it Miss Tarae and Ganondorf told you who or what I was?\u201d sighed Zelda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, they did,\u201d replied Amy. \u201c\u2026It\u2019s\u2026it\u2019s put us in a pickle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI really don\u2019t want to do that with one of Amy\u2019s friends, but I also don\u2019t want the Black Guardian\u2019s wrath. \u2026What would be the wise thing to do?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You\u2019ll have to turn me into the last segment,\u201d said Zelda. \u201cI know my duty.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut if the Black Guardian uses the entire key-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe balance will be restored.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut we\u2019ll lose you! LINK will lose you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026It\u2019s a sacrifice I\u2019m willing to make, Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf there\u2019s no choice involved, then it isn\u2019t really a sacrifice! Zelda, you\u2019re not facing a choice! You\u2019re facing an ultimatum! I can\u2019t-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor!\u201d snapped Zelda, shutting the Doctor up. \u201c\u2026My mind is made up. \u2026Just\u2026find some way to keep the Key to Time out of Miss Tarae and Ganondorf\u2019s hands.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026As you wish,\u201d sighed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Link\u2019s flying machine attracted the attention of the guards outside Ganondorf\u2019s castle. \u201c\u2026I thought he gave up that arm,\u201d remarked a Bokoblin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNever mind that!\u201d snapped a Lizalfos. \u201cFire!\u201d The monsters fired arrows of various kinds at them. Link dodged them all and brought his passengers to a part of Ganondorf\u2019s castle that wasn\u2019t that great at security. \u201cAll right, let\u2019s be careful,\u201d warned Link as he drew his sword and shield. \u201cI\u2019d rather NOT have everyone here aware of our presence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLink, you stick out like a sore thumb, what with that tunic and gear!\u201d hissed William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHold it!\u201d called a Bokoblin\u2019s voice. \u201cOnly Ganondorf\u2019s allies can enter here! You look too stupid to be one of them!\u201d The Bokoblin leveled a club at them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026How do we prove we\u2019re smart enough to be your master\u2019s allies?\u201d asked Link, changing tack. The Bokoblin tossed Link a nine-by-nine-by-nine cube with various symbols on each side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMatch all the glyphs with the glyphs in the center of each side,\u201d instructed the Bokoblin. William and Rassilon realized what it was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIsn\u2019t that a puzzle toy from Earth?\u201d Rassilon asked William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA Rubik\u2019s Cube, yes,\u201d replied William. Link grinned and rotated each face of the cube until all the glyphs were the same on each side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBoom,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Huh, you ARE smart enough,\u201d remarked the Bokoblin. \u201cSorry about that. Gotta watch out for that Hero of Hyrule, you know.\u201d He opened the gate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, we completely understand,\u201d soothed Link as he led his team inside. The group then made their way to the dungeon and found the Doctor and her cellmates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor!\u201d hissed William.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWilliam! Get out of here!\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cAnd take Rassilon with you! Zelda\u2019s-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe hasn\u2019t accepted her fate, has she?!\u201d whispered Rassilon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You know?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI told them,\u201d replied Link. \u201cZelda, is that true? You\u2019re REALLY letting yourself be turned into the last segment?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLink, please understand-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat kind of plan involves giving Ganondorf what he wants?!\u201d Zelda gestured for Link to come closer. Link obeyed and Zelda whispered something in his ear. Link goggled, then sighed. \u201c\u2026We\u2019ll keep you out of Ganondorf\u2019s hands,\u201d promised Link. \u201cYou and the other segments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThank you,\u201d said Zelda. \u201cNow, my friends, your\u2026tracer, please?\u201d Rassilon sighed as she reluctantly pointed the tracer at Zelda.
