\u201cAll non-combative personnel are to evacuate to the shelters,\u201d he ordered. \u201cThose with combat training will stay. Remember the SHIELD training concerning Skrulls.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn the meantime,\u201d said the Doctor, \u201cI\u2019d better get to work on a Skrull detector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe humans are trying to raise their defenses, your Majesty,\u201d remarked Veranke\u2019s aide. \u201cI personally think it\u2019s cute that they think they can do anything to you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI can see where you say that,\u201d replied Veranke. \u201cLet\u2019s split up and play with these animals.\u201d The two Skrulls split up and disguised themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aide went to one part of the tower, disguised as a soldier and rushing to do something to \u201caid in the Tower\u2019s defenses\u201d. He then rounded a corner and spotted a soldier kneeling over something. Judging from his research, the aide correctly deduced that he was a Private. He looked at his own clothes and saw the symbol for a sergeant. \u201cPRIVATE!\u201d he shouted. \u201cWhat in Sam Hill do you think you\u2019re doing, lazing about?!\u201d The Private didn\u2019t answer. \u201cHEY! I\u2019M TALKING TO YOU, SOLDIER! OR ARE YOU DEA-!?\u201d He stopped when he saw a piece of tech that WASN\u2019T human. \u201c\u2026What in the Hell?\u201d he muttered. \u201cPrivate, where did you get that?\u201d asked the aide. The Private then stepped aside\u2026to reveal a body. The face looked like the Private\u2019s but the body was opened and had evidence of dissection! The aide gasped. \u201c\u2026Y-You\u2019re not-!\u201d he gasped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe saw you change your face,\u201d replied the fake Private as he strode forward. The aide leveled his gun at the fake Private.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m warning you, back-!\u201d The fake Private grabbed the gun and summoned electricity to destroy it! The aide turned back into his usual Skrull shape in fear, then the fake Private glowed green as he grabbed the aide and delivered a fatal bio-electric shock to his system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While that was going on, Veranke slipped through the ranks before arriving at the commons room. The only one there was the Doctor. Veranke gasped when she saw the TARDIS. \u201c\u2026Now do you believe William?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cHe said that you didn\u2019t believe that I was a Time Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You aren\u2019t fooled?\u201d asked Veranke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, when you\u2019ve got an early warning system that can analyze the proteins in Skrull cells that allow you to change your face, you\u2019re not easily taken by surprise,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I had no idea YOU had survived, Doctor,\u201d said Veranke as she assumed her real shape. \u201cI was under the impression that all the Time Lords were extinct.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, we came back,\u201d answered the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou should have stayed extinct.\u201d Veranke drew her gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI wouldn\u2019t do that, if I were you!\u201d The Doctor pointed her sonic screwdriver at the gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a sonic probe!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cScrewdriver,\u201d corrected the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s harmless,\u201d replied Veranke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019re right, doesn\u2019t maim, doesn\u2019t kill, but I\u2019ll tell you what it DOES do. \u2026It is VERY good\u2026at opening doors!\u201d The Doctor switched the screwdriver on, filling the air with its usual buzz. The doors unlocked and Storm, the Black Panther, Skarla, and Amy leapt out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026How?\u201d asked Veranke as she pointed at Skarla. \u201cHow did your colony learn the secrets of creating a Super Skrull?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWouldn\u2019t you like to know?!\u201d Skarla stretched herself and wrapped around Veranke. Veranke struggled, then sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCan\u2019t believe I\u2019m doing this!\u201d she grumbled. She then bit Skarla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOW!\u201d shouted Skarla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSkarla, back away!\u201d called Storm. Skarla unwrapped herself from Veranke and Storm directed lightning to strike the Skrull Queen. Unfortunately, Veranke had activated an anti-lightning shield. \u201c\u2026Of course,\u201d grumbled Storm. The Black Panther then struck, swiping his claws at Veranke. He scored a blow and cut Veranke\u2019s cheek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cARGH! Backwards primitive!\u201d snarled Veranke as she pointed her gun at the Black Panther. Amy then knocked the gun out of the Skrull Queen\u2019s hands with her hammer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the fight went on, William and Lurra Rus finished the last of the civilian staff evacuations. \u201cRight! That\u2019s the last of them!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNow, to make sure\u2026erm, William,\u201d said Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo you recognize that technology?\u201d Lurra Rus pointed at the alien device. William arched an eyebrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2026doesn\u2019t look like any of the tech I\u2019ve seen or became familiar with,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s unfamiliar to me too,\u201d remarked Lurra Rus. The two cautiously approached it and carefully put a finger to it. \u2026Nothing happened. \u201cMaybe the Doctor can figure it out,\u201d said Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe\u2019s probably busy with Veranke,\u201d replied William. \u201cAnd we need to check for her aaaaaaaaiiiiiiiyYIKES!\u201d William fell flat on his rear when he saw two dissected corpses! Lurra Rus gagged in disgust. William steeled himself and made his way to the corpses. He examined the human one. \u201c\u2026Private Anderson\u2026\u201d he said. \u201c\u2026I fixed his broken leg a year ago!\u201d He then looked at the other. \u201c\u2026That must have been Veranke\u2019s aide!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat could have done this?!\u201d shuddered Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIntruders,\u201d said a voice. William and Lurra Rus turned\u2026to see Veranke\u2019s aide standing there. William looked back and forth between the corpse and the aide standing there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You dissected them\u2026\u201d he gulped, \u201c\u2026to understand their biology\u2026and make the disguise believable in terms of appearance!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are specially trained in the metamorphosis techniques,\u201d replied the aide\u2019s double. \u201cYou know too much!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd so will the Doctor!\u201d warned Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor?\u201d asked the double.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA Time Lord,\u201d explained William as he grabbed the device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDROP THE RECORDS DEVICE!\u201d ordered the double as electricity crackled in its fingers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRUN!\u201d shouted William. He and Lurra Rus ran with the double in hot pursuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Veranke was tiring out with the non-stop attacks. These people had obviously planned this! Her opponents stopped their attack as Veranke collapsed, panting all the while. The Skrull Queen glared at her attackers. \u201cNow, Queen Veranke,\u201d said the Doctor, \u201cdo you yield?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhere the hell is Brilkus?!\u201d demanded Veranke. \u201cHe was supposed to regroup with me! What did you do to him, Time Lord?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou mean your aide?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cI haven\u2019t seen him.\u201d William and Lurra Rus then burst into the commons room, locking the door behind them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, we\u2019ve got trouble!\u201d warned William. The Doctor\u2019s eyes widened in shock when she saw the device in his hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWilliam, where did you get that?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFrom the murderer of a human and Veranke\u2019s aide!\u201d replied Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat?! Brilkus is dead?! Explain yourselves!\u201d demanded Veranke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFirst off,\u201d panted William, \u201clet me stress that neither Lurra Rus nor I were responsible for your aide\u2019s death! It looks like we have another shape-shifter here! They dissected the poor victims with surgical precision and given my own skills with a scalpel, I KNOW surgical precision when I see it! They must have used what they learned about our respective biology to craft their disguise!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s exactly how they would do it,\u201d muttered the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know this shape-shifter, Doctor?\u201d asked Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, and judging by the records device here, I\u2019d say the shape-shifter is the person from the 29th<\/sup> century we\u2019re looking for. It looks like they were prepared to take advantage of the Grouping. Odd, really, considering they don\u2019t use time travel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat is this creature, then, Doctor?\u201d asked Veranke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA creature I met before, on the island of Fang-.\u201d The Doctor didn\u2019t get to finish her sentence as the door exploded via an electric blast. The double of Veranke\u2019s aide then stormed into the room. It scanned the room visually, then spotted the TARDIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Who owns that craft?\u201d it demanded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI do,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cAnd you need to stop!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhy should we obey you, Doctor?\u201d asked the double. \u201cAfter all, you killed us at Fang Rock. Many times there, in fact. The scout and the mothership.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou lot were planning to set up a power base here on Earth to try and beat the Sontarans back!\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cAnd those are the only deaths I\u2019m responsible for!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are one, Doctor. It then glowed green and seemed to shrink into something vaguely ball-shaped before tentacles and a single black orb for an eye appeared.
