One of the most famous Plumbers was Max Tennyson, semi-retired these days as his grandson, Ben Tennyson, was continuing the work. Armed with a watch that can turn him into any alien, the Omnitrix, Ben made a name for himself as Ben 10! Right now, he and his ex-girlfriend, Julie Yamamoto, were in California, looking out to sea. \u201cI still don\u2019t know why we were called,\u201d muttered Ben. \u201cI was enjoying some Sumo Slammers!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLook, we get calls about the weird stuff from time to time,\u201d replied Julie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, but tremors? I thought California gets that stuff all the time and the locals don\u2019t bat an eye.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot when the tremors aren\u2019t from shifting tectonic plates,\u201d interjected a woman\u2019s voice. A Japanese woman approached them. \u201cMr. Tennyson, Ms. Yamamoto, I am Dr. Sato, Chief Scientific Advisor for UNIT\u2019s Japanese branch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUNIT? The Plumbers and UNIT aren\u2019t exactly friends,\u201d remarked Julie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, but I felt the need to collaborate on this issue,\u201d explained Dr. Sato. \u201cWe\u2019ve recently detected a surge of chronons and something appeared in the Pacific Ocean. Believe it or not, our parent United Kingdom branch has dealt with temporal messes before, but we needed a more proactive approach. That\u2019s where you Plumbers come in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI guess that makes sense,\u201d replied Ben, \u201cbut we don\u2019t exactly cover things up like you UNIT guys do. We\u2019re\u2026anyone hear that?\u201d A strange noise was filling the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I see the object making that noise!\u201d called Dr. Sato. Ben and Julie turned to see the TARDIS materializing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t believe it!\u201d gasped Ben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026It says \u2018Police Box\u2019 on it,\u201d remarked Julie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not a police box!\u201d replied Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou met her before?\u201d asked Ben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes! During an incident on Monster Island! You?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was fighting Sontarans inside a time loop!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf it\u2019s not a police box, what is it?\u201d asked Julie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a TARDIS, Yamamoto-san!\u201d replied Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMore than that!\u201d supplied Ben. \u201cIt\u2019s THE TARDIS! The Doctor\u2019s coming!\u201d The TARDIS fully materialized and Ben and Dr. Sato rushed forward. The doors opened and Lurra Rus stepped out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, are you sure-?\u201d asked Lurra Rus before she was tackled by Ben and Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEEP!\u201d yelped Dr. Sato. She then bowed. \u201cGomenasai!\u201d she apologized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, I\u2019m sorry too!\u201d agreed Ben. \u201cI thought you were someone else!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOddly, so did I,\u201d replied Lurra Rus. \u201cIn fact, I AM someone else.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTennyson-san and I could have sworn this was a TARDIS,\u201d said Dr. Sato. \u201cTHE TARDIS. The only TARDIS we know about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd we were kinda hoping the Doctor would be here,\u201d admitted Ben lamely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, she is!\u201d replied Lurra Rus. \u201cAre you friends of hers? She and our friend, Amy Rose, are inside.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo they\u2019re not,\u201d corrected the Doctor as she and Amy left the TARDIS. \u201cThey\u2019re coming out.\u201d The Doctor then clapped eyes on Ben and Dr. Sato. \u201cBen! Dr. Sato! How wonderful to see you two again!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I\u2019m afraid I haven\u2019t the pleasure, Ma\u2019am,\u201d replied Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAh, you met the Doctor with her old face, have you?\u201d asked Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAmy! You\u2019re here!\u201d said Ben. \u201cAnd\u2026is that really the Doctor?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, she just regenerated. An unfortunate hazard in her life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou scanned me and got Time Walker, remember?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cI\u2019m surprised you, of all people, forgot about regeneration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHoly crap, it IS you!\u201d yelped Ben. He then turned to Julie. \u201cJulie, this is the Doctor I was talking about. And that\u2019s Amy Rose. \u2026I just don\u2019t know the Twi\u2019lek.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m Lurra Rus,\u201d replied Lurra Rus. \u201cYou\u2019ll have to excuse our sudden arrival. We just followed the path to a chronal surge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Did you find out if anything came through that surge?\u201d asked Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAh, so that\u2019s why you\u2019re all here,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cWe\u2019re tracking these surges as they have a tendency to bring time zones together. My friends on Gallifrey warned me that something from 1995 came here. There are multiple surges like this one, creating an event known as the Grouping.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo you\u2019re trying to fix it?\u201d asked Ben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the plan,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWould you like help?\u201d asked Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf you\u2019re offering,\u201d answered the Doctor. \u201cPerhaps, along the way, we can fix your issues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve set up a base on Alcatraz Island,\u201d said Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAh, Al Capone\u2019s old home,\u201d remarked the Doctor. \u201cNice guy if you overlooked his crimes, especially his tax evasion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Team TARDIS was brought to the base on Alcatraz where the Plumbers and UNIT soldiers were working together. \u201cSo the chronal surge was first detected here and so were the tremors?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe had to set up this base nearest to the tremors,\u201d replied Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGives me more of a chance to get right into the fight!\u201d cheered Ben as he punched his hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou Plumbers really do love getting into it, don\u2019t you?\u201d muttered Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Plumbers have been around longer than UNIT,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cNow\u2026\u201d the place was starting to shake. \u201c\u2026are those the-?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes!\u201d replied Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026There seems to be a rhythm to it,\u201d remarked Lurra Rus. \u201cLike some\u2026beast.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019d almost liken it to a frog,\u201d said Amy. \u201cAnd I had to fight some frogs, let me tell you.\u201d A UNIT soldier then burst in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe need to evacuate! There\u2019s a giant frog hopping to the island!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHang on, soldier,\u201d said Ben, \u201cdoes this frog have four red eyes and horns?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, but how important is-?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe\u2019s STILL around?!\u201d protested Ben. He then thought. \u201c\u2026Then again, supposedly, he has his head put into a jar and puts said jar onto a gorilla body in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know how this frog came to be?\u201d asked Dr. Sato.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYeah, one of my enemies, Dr. Animo,\u201d explained Ben. \u201cA mad scientist that mutates animals into his monster slaves to conquer the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat is it about mad scientists that causes them to look to mutating life-forms?!\u201d snapped the Doctor. \u201cIs he in correspondence with Davros?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019d better ask him some questions,\u201d suggested Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRight,\u201d replied the Doctor. The group then went outside to see an elephant-sized four-eyed frog with an old man riding it. He wore a brain case that had antennae and exposed his brain, wore red goggles, had pale-green skin, and wore a long lab coat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAttention, UNIT and Plumbers!\u201d announced the old man, Dr. Animo. \u201cSurrender San Francisco to me or be trampled by my newest acqui-!\u201d he stopped when he saw Ben. \u201cOh, for-! Can\u2019t you just let me take over the world in peace, Tennyson?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on, Doc, you know that\u2019s not how this works,\u201d replied Ben. \u201cYou show up, threaten to take over the world with your mutant animals, I turn into an alien that beats you, you get carted off to prison, that\u2019s the whole thing. It\u2019s kind of boring, now that I think about it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen mix it up a little and stand down!\u201d snarled Dr. Animo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think I\u2019d prefer it if Ben stuck to routine,\u201d called the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd just who are you?!\u201d demanded Dr. Animo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m the Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Doctor who?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust the Doctor. Look, surely Mr. and Mrs. Animo wouldn\u2019t want you to-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, here we go, the \u2018my parents would be spinning in their graves if they knew what I did\u2019 angle. Listen, sweetheart, I obtained emancipation from them when I was 18! I would have gotten it earlier, but those two WERE geniuses when it came to law, hence them having taken jobs as lawyers when they were alive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Okay, I\u2019m not sure who\u2019s the bigger villain in THAT scenario,\u201d mused the Doctor. \u201cBut look, with your knowledge on genetic experiments, you could cure cancer, give humans the ability to regrow lost limbs, maybe-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExcept I don\u2019t WANT to cure cancer or give humans the ability to regrow lost limbs,\u201d interrupted Dr. Animo, \u201cI want to make mutant animal slaves to help me conquer the world!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Single-minded, that\u2019s what you are,\u201d muttered the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI prefer the word \u2018driven\u2019!\u201d replied Dr. Animo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, I\u2019m driven too,\u201d remarked Ben. \u201cDriven to put you back in prison. Let\u2019s see, when we first met, you were trying to bring back extinct animals like dinosaurs, right?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was set to call America\u2019s capital ‘Washington B.C’, yes,\u201d confirmed Dr. Animo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen let\u2019s see how you handle a living dinosaur,\u201d chuckled Ben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA living dinosaur?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou ever heard of a Vaxasaurian, Doctor?\u201d asked Ben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, you have Vaxasaurian DNA on that thing?\u201d quizzed the Doctor. \u201cNice people. Bit fist-happy though.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJust need to take down the frog!\u201d replied Ben. \u201cDr. Animo, it\u2019s time for Humungousaur!\u201d Ben slammed on the Omnitrix, he then bulked up\u2026got an orange and black striped fur pattern, grew a claw on the back of each wrist, his face became more feline, and a green and black luchador outfit appeared over him. \u201cHUMUNGOUSAUR!\u201d shouted Ben in his new form. He then looked down. \u201cOh for-! I MEAN RATH!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s an Appoplexian, Ben, not a Vaxasaurian,\u201d groaned the Doctor as she pinched the bridge of her nose. Rath got up close to the Doctor\u2019s face, saliva spattering all over the Doctor\u2019s face as he screamed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, DOCTOR, TIME LORD OF GALLIFREY! RATH ALREADY KNOWS THAT!\u201d He then turned to Dr. Animo. \u201cAND YOU! RATH IS STILL GONNA KICK YOUR FROG\u2019S BUTT ALL THE WAY INTO THE SNOW!\u201d Rath then leapt at the frog and wailed on it. The Doctor simply wiped the saliva off her face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
