\u201cLakitus, we need air support!\u201d shouted Bowser. Lakitus and their clouds arrived and hurled Spinies, but it did no good!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Doctor saw the situation. \u201cThis is our chance!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really leaving them to fight?\u201d asked Peach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor-,\u201d said Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe sooner we use the Banandium Root against the Cybermen, the sooner this mess is settled,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cDonkey Kong, lead on!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis way!\u201d urged Donkey Kong as everyone stepped into the swirling gold sphere. Inside was a ball of light with bananas orbiting it like a biblically accurate angel\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHello again,\u201d said Pauline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the Banandium Root?\u201d asked Mario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA powerful wish granting thing,\u201d replied Donkey Kong. \u201cIt got Pauline home and gave me all the bananas I could ever want.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGreat Banandium Root,\u201d Pauline said to the Root, \u201cplease, grant our wishes! Make it so that anyone with evil intentions can never abuse you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDoctor,\u201d said the Cyber Leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCyber Leader,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSurrender control of the Banandium Root to us, Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen we will kill Pauline.\u201d The Cyber Leader aimed his Cyber Gun at Pauline. \u201cDonkey Kong cannot access his Bananza forms without her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDidn\u2019t you hear me?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cI can\u2019t even if I wanted to! This is power beyond the comprehension of the Cybermen! It can\u2019t be merely reprogrammed!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou will order it to remain on this planet, then.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat will solve nothing! Any Cybermen would be destroyed if they set foot on this planet!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Cybermen AND the planet,\u201d remarked the Cyber Leader. \u201cThe choice is yours, Doctor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026That\u2019s cold!\u201d hissed Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Doctor cannot destroy any of her enemies if her friends are in the line of fire.\u201d The Cyber Leader spoke as if it were simply reading off an essay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Everyone, it\u2019s over,\u201d sighed the Doctor. Amy and Lurra Rus looked\u2026to see a look of defeat on the Doctor\u2019s face! It was so alien to them, not even her previous incarnation displayed such a face. \u201cMy battles, all my battles\u2026I can only surrender.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor!\u201d protested Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou will order the Banandium Root to align with the incoming fleet,\u201d ordered the Cyber Leader. The Doctor turned to the Banandium Root.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo you understand the Cyber Leader\u2019s instructions?\u201d she asked it. The Banandium Root flickered in understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDeploy,\u201d ordered the Cyber Leader. The Doctor nodded to the Banandium Root and it flew out of the chamber!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat have you done?!\u201d wailed Peach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe will monitor its progress,\u201d said the Cyber Leader. His men set up monitoring equipment and it was all on display once it was switched on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entering high orbit above Nokiko was a fleet of modern-day Cyber Carriers. The Cybermen aboard had received a transmission about ancient Cybermen discovering an object that would ensure the permanent survival of the Cyber Race. Aboard the flagship was the Cyber Controller. \u201cController,\u201d reported a Cyberman running scanners, \u201cenergy signature detected. Readings match with data concerning the object known as the Banandium Root.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur predecessors were correct,\u201d remarked the Cyber Controller. \u201cAlign with the-.\u201d Alarms then blared. \u201cReport!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBanandium Root has destroyed two Cyber Carriers!\u201d replied the scanner operator. \u201cIt is destroying the entire fleet! Unable to-!\u201d The Banandium Root tore through the flagship, detonating its power core and destroying all hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The destruction of the Cyber Fleet was on full display. Amy and Lurra Rus were confused\u2026then recalled what the Doctor said. \u201c\u2026You could have said something!\u201d hissed Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNot with the Cybermen around,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut\u2026how-?!\u201d spluttered Mario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSimple,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Banandium Root was under Cyber Control!\u201d protested the Cyber Leader. \u201cI ordered it to align with our fleet!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAh, but I already wished for it to destroy any Cybermen that would approach,\u201d explained the Doctor. \u201cAnd Pauline asked for it to be more discriminating in its ability to grant wishes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Doctor simply asked if the Root understood your orders,\u201d continued Amy. \u201cShe didn\u2019t say anything about it obeying you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Then you will all join the Cyber Fleet. Prepare arms.\u201d The Cybermen were about to obey, then were savagely attacked by the Koopa\/Kremling army remnants grinding gold into their chest units. As the fight raged on, Bowser stirred awake and saw that only the Cyber Leader was left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Hey! Soft shells!\u201d he growled as he swiped King K. Rool\u2019s crown. \u201cYou missed a spot!\u201d He then ground the crown into the Cyber Leader\u2019s chest unit. The Cyber Leader screamed and collapsed as its chest unit exploded. After it fell, its face cover exploded, revealing the human man it used to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Bowser\u2026thank you,\u201d breathed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026This whole thing was a waste of time!\u201d snarled Bowser. \u201cI heard Pauline\u2019s wish! You\u2019re gonna pay for making it not grant my wishes! \u2026But not today. Koopas! We\u2019re leaving!\u201d Bowser stomped out of the chamber as Donkey Kong knuckled his way to King K. Rool. The reptile looked\u2026rather still. Donkey Kong raised his hand\u2026then slapped King K. Rool repeatedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGet up, you walking suitcase!\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m not falling for that again!\u201d King K. Rool got away from Donkey Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou were dumb enough to fall for it twice before!\u201d snapped King K. Rool. He turned to address his army. \u201cReturn to the surface! I\u2019ll deal with you toothless and useless banana thieves later!\u201d The Kremlings gulped before making their way back to the surface. When all the armies left, the Doctor and her allies breathed a huge sigh of relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat,\u201d said the Doctor, \u201ccould have been so much worse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo this was what you went through when you were 13, Pauline?\u201d asked Mario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOddly enough, journeying through the Underground world helped me overcome my stage fright,\u201d replied Pauline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSpeaking of journeys,\u201d interjected Amy, \u201cwant a lift back to the surface?\u201d Pauline considered, then shook her head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll use the Banandium Root,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHey, Pauline,\u201d interjected Donkey Kong, \u201cwe just beat a major boss, there\u2019s something we need to do. For old time\u2019s sake.\u201d Pauline smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s get to it then!\u201d She and Donkey Kong then flexed their arms and hopped towards one another a bit, then they danced before pounding their chests and hooting in victory!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Erm, Doctor, you\u2019ve been\u2026Doctor?\u201d Peach looked around to see that the Doctor and her friends had vanished! \u201c\u2026Without so much as a goodbye!\u201d she grumbled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and her friends were back in the TARDIS and had just taken off. \u201cWhat was with the departure without a goodbye?\u201d asked Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe TARDIS had finished calculating where the next chronal surge is going to take place,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cI had it calculating it when we first arrived and it fed the data into the sonic screwdriver when we arrived at the Planet Core.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, where are we going?\u201d asked Amy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026That\u2019s why I had us hurry. I forgot what it said.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t worry, I\u2019m punching it up on the scanner,\u201d assured the Doctor as she keyed in a few commands. The scanner then opened and displayed a sphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA planet, I\u2019m guessing,\u201d said Lurra Rus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSure is,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cNow, let\u2019s see what planet it is, hm?\u201d She fed the data into the scanner. Blue, green, and brown appeared on the sphere and Amy\u2019s eyes widened. The Doctor checked the readings and she goggled in horror as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Doctor? Amy?\u201d asked Lurra Rus. \u201cYou recognize that planet?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s Mobius!\u201d breathed Amy. \u201cMy home!\u201d She turned on the Doctor. \u201cYou mean the next chronal surge is taking place on Mobius and you forgot about it?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
