\u201cWhat about her?\u201d asked Bruce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSHE didn\u2019t know about Dr. King.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s impossible! He\u2019s the reason she stayed on as Uhura when Star Trek<\/em> was being broadcasted!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI wonder if\u2026aha! Found it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cFound what, Doctor?\u201d asked Winston as he arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAnother chronal surge! An energy wave that plucks someone from one point in space\/time and drops them off in another, either in the past or the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThen Dr. King was taken by a chronal surge like me?\u201d asked Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt seems that way, but the probabilities of him going back into his time are still in effect,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cIf I had forgotten him, it would have been too late and I doubt Lucius Fox would be the man he is today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThen, for Lucius\u2019 sake, we need to find Dr. King,\u201d declared Bruce. \u201cWhere and when is he is the big question.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019m going to allow the Batcomputer to temporarily use the TARDIS computers to calculate where and when he was taken,\u201d said the Doctor as she worked. The computer beeped and Circular Gallifreyan appeared. \u201cAha! Access granted! Now let\u2019s see\u2026hm, as a funny little man once said\u2026oh my word!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDoctor?\u201d asked Winston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ve found when he was taken!\u201d explained the Doctor. \u201cIn his history, he just jumped out of the second story window of his house!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhich attempt?\u201d asked Winston. \u201cThere were two points he did that, both of which were the result of him blaming himself for someone else\u2019s death.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cLooks like\u2026after his brother, A.D, slid down the banister and knocked their sister, Jennie, unconscious. Calculating his temporal path now\u2026oh no!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat?\u201d asked Bruce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe\u2019s\u2026he\u2019s in Gotham right now! The Penguin?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe very same. Tea, Doctor?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Please,\u201d sighed the Doctor as she put her head in her hands. \u201cWhat kind of election fraud-?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI already checked,\u201d replied Bruce. \u201cThere WASN\u2019T any election fraud. Gotham elected the Penguin of their own free will.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI don\u2019t know if that makes the situation better or worse! \u2026Come to think of it, I don\u2019t know as you looking into the election results-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPerhaps we should table that for now, Doctor,\u201d said Winston. \u201cWe need to save Little Martin Luther Jr. and figure out if the Penguin has any plans for him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNot a bad idea,\u201d agreed Bruce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Right then, Bruce, suit up,\u201d declared the Doctor. \u201cWe need to speak to Mayor Cobblepot tonight!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the Mayor\u2019s home, a short, beak-nosed man was getting ready for bed. He took off his monocle, then lit up a cigar as he looked out the window and saw Gotham. \u201c\u2026Look at me now, Wayne!\u201d he cackled to himself, his laugh sounding like an Emperor Penguin. \u201cYour family never could achieve THIS kind of power! I\u2019ll run Gotham-!\u201d He was interrupted by a buzzer. \u201c\u2026What now?!\u201d complained Mayor Oswald Cobblepot, the Penguin. He pressed a button on his intercom. \u201cWhat is it?!\u201d he demanded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA Mr. Batman and his retinue here to see you, your Honor,\u201d replied his security guard. \u201cThey just arrived at the front gate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat?!\u201d squawked the Penguin in surprise. \u201cHe\u2019s never been THIS bold before! \u2026Color me intrigued! Send them up!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cVery well, your Honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Batman, the Doctor, Tysar, and Winston left the Batmobile and Batman locked it. They were escorted to the Mayor\u2019s Office where the Penguin, dressed in his tuxedo, top hat, monocle, and umbrella, waited for them. \u201c\u2026Leave us,\u201d the Penguin ordered the guard. The guard hesitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI won\u2019t hurt him,\u201d promised Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe\u2019s right,\u201d said the Penguin. \u201cRather gauche for Batman to go after someone in their own home.\u201d The guard nodded, then headed off. \u201c\u2026So, Batman, just waltzing up to the front door. That\u2019s not like you. Get one from the stores, please.\u201d The young boy nodded silently and walked off. \u201c\u2026Why we\u2019re keeping him here, I have no idea. I need stable history to work with.\u201d The door opened. \u201cThat was quick,\u201d remarked the man before he looked up and saw the Penguin with his guest. \u201cOh! Do you know how dangerous she is?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNever mind him, let\u2019s talk about you,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cWhy are you still slumming around with American politicians, even small time ones like the Penguin? And\u2026is that a time displacement machine?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s a machine of Gorilla Grodd\u2019s design called the Quake Engine, Doctor,\u201d explained the Master. \u201cAnd we need to use it to bring a boy back after a chronal surge took him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIs this what you\u2019re looking for?\u201d asked the boy as he arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYes, that\u2019s it, young man!\u201d said the Master. The Doctor then pointed her sonic screwdriver at the boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026What is that?\u201d asked Winston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Sonic Screwdriver, Winston!\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cA multi-tool of my design!\u201d She checked the readings and goggled. \u201c\u2026Erm, young man, could you leave us for a second?\u201d asked the Doctor. The boy looked at the Master and the Penguin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026You can go,\u201d said the Master. The boy nodded and headed off. Once the door shut, the Master grinned. \u201cFigured it out, Doctor?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThat was him?\u201d asked Batman. \u201cYoung Martin Luther King Jr?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe very same,\u201d confirmed the Doctor. \u201cBut what\u2019s your angle in sending him back, Master?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe preservation of Earth\u2019s history, naturally,\u201d replied the Master. \u201cEven I can venerate Dr. King.
