Chojin Bird-Man Castle was sighted in Gotham Bay. The Coast Guard did what they could, but the fortress deployed a red, umbrella styled shield in front and spun it to kick up the water. Inside the fortress, the Penguin cackled. \u201cBelieve it or not, Gotham,\u201d he said, \u201cthis penguin moves just as fast on land as it does at sea\u2026and it\u2019s got one hell of a bite! You were all fools and just like the state of Kai in Feudal Japan, I\u2019ve played you all like a harp from Hell!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Back with the Doctor and her group, the Master was still in the throes of a heart attack. \u201cTysar, help me get his shirt off!\u201d directed the Doctor. \u201cBatman, Winston, I need three AED pads and something that can generate electricity!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThree AED pads?\u201d asked Winston as he got the pads and attached cables. \u201cThat\u2019s how many a Time Lord needs?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBoth hearts need to be reset simultaneously!\u201d replied the Doctor as she and Tysar tore the Master\u2019s shirt off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWould the Shock Batarang work?\u201d asked Batman as he pulled out said Batarang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGimme!\u201d Batman handed the Doctor the Batarang and Winston handed over the pads. The Doctor then wired the pads to the Batarang, then placed one of the pads on each side of the Master\u2019s chest while the third and final was applied to the top just above the vessels bridging his two hearts. \u201cNow, Batman, monitor for a double pulse.\u201d The Doctor switched the Batarang on. \u201cClear!\u201d She pressed the button and delivered the shock. The Master went silent and still. For a few tense seconds, everyone was praying the Doctor didn\u2019t kill her patient. \u2026The Master then shot up, screaming and scaring everyone but Batman into screaming. He stopped screaming, then sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Hello, Rightie!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBoth hearts are beating,\u201d reported Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNow\u2026\u201d The Master tore the pads off. \u201cTime to pluck a penguin\u2019s feathers!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaster, there IS a way to beat him, yes?\u201d asked the Doctor with a smirk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Don\u2019t say it!\u201d hissed the Master.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, it seems to me\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf you say it, I WILL use the TCE on-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll need to work together,\u201d finished the Doctor. The Master snarled, then sighed in defeat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026We need to disconnect the Quake Engine component from Chojin-jo\u2019s main control room,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd the most vulnerable point is when it assumes battle mode.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBattle mode?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChojin-jo\u2019s Wind Forest Fire Mountain transformation,\u201d explained Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026A little over the top. We\u2019ll need to trick the Penguin into engaging it. But we follow Batman\u2019s no kill rule.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor-!\u201d argued the Master.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re guests in Batman\u2019s city and temporary Bat Family members. We follow HIS rules.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026All right, what\u2019s the plan?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chojin Bird-Man Castle marched closer to the shores of Gotham, ready to trample it. Inside the control room, the Penguin cackled as various Emperor Penguins squawked. \u201cThat\u2019s right, my fine-feathered friends!\u201d squawked the Penguin. \u201cGotham will be all ours! Then the Eastern Seaboard, then the rest of the continent, then the whole damn hemisphere, then-!\u201d The computers flashed alarms. \u201cHuh? What\u2019s\u2026GIANT FLY TRAPS?! IVY! Fine then, time to do some weeding! CHOJIN BIRD-MAN CASTLE: WIND FOREST FIRE MOUNTAIN TRANSFORMATION!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhere did those plants come from?!\u201d demanded the Doctor as giant fly traps grew while Chojin-jo rearranged itself into a battle configuration that looked like the Penguin, complete with a top hat, monocle, and hidden guns behind the umbrella shield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThose aren\u2019t real plants,\u201d remarked Batman. \u201cSomeone activated holograms. Who-?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExcuse me!\u201d called Dr. King as he and Alfred arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat are YOU doing here?!\u201d protested the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m sorry, Doctor, I wanted to help,\u201d replied Dr. King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t be too hard on him, Doctor,\u201d said Alfred. \u201cHe overheard the plan and activated the holo-emitters based on Poison Ivy\u2019s plants.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I appreciate the help, Dr. King,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cBut I\u2019d advise you to go back to Wayne Manor. If the boy you\u2019re possessing dies, you fade away from history and the United States can\u2019t have that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I understand, Doctor,\u201d said Dr. King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Back in Chojin Bird-Man Castle\u2019s control room, the Penguin saw what was going on. \u201cHolograms! Batman, you idiot! You really think that\u2019s gonna stop me?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, but this will!\u201d replied Batman from the ceiling. A kunai then buried itself into the controls!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWHAT?! NO!\u201d shouted the Penguin. He snarled as Batman landed. The Penguin then activated his concealed sword from his umbrella and attacked with Batman keeping out of reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the fight was going on, the Doctor, Tysar, Winston, and the Master entered the engine room. There, the power convertor for the Quake Engine rested. \u201cThat\u2019s it!\u201d called the Master.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll right, start disconnecting,\u201d directed the Doctor. As they started yanking wires, Tysar spotted a big one coming from the power convertor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNow if that isn\u2019t a main power line\u2026\u201d she smiled and yanked it out! The fortress then juddered as the lights went off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cGood eye, Tysar!\u201d praised the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, outside!\u201d called Winston. \u201cThe fortress stopped!\u201d Winston was right. The legs of the fortress had stopped before they could reach the shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Power Convertor!\u201d squawked the Penguin. He snarled at Batman. \u201cYou distracted me, didn\u2019t you?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWasn\u2019t all that much of a challenge,\u201d replied Batman. The Penguin then leapt from the control room\u2019s window and flew down to the engine room where he saw Tysar teasingly holding the main power wire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLookie here!\u201d she chuckled. \u201cA local flightless bird getting too close to the sun!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLearned about the wildlife of Earth, did you?!\u201d snarled the Penguin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMove aside!\u201d commanded the Master as he shoved Tysar aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaster, what are you doing?!\u201d yelped the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCutting a problem down to size!\u201d replied the Master. \u201cOne shrunken penguin, coming-!\u201d The Master then realized his pocket was empty. \u201c\u2026Wh\u2026Where\u2019s the-?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLooking for this?!\u201d cackled the Penguin as he held up a black rod with a sphere on the end of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMy Tissue Compression Eliminator!\u201d gasped the Master in sheer outrage that a mere human stole HIS weapon. \u201cHow-?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou dropped it during your heart attack!\u201d cackled the Penguin. \u201cNow let\u2019s see how it works!\u201d He activated the device, aiming it at the Master\u2026but nothing happened. \u201c\u2026Oh, because, of course, you made it so this thing can\u2019t be turned against you!\u201d snarled the Penguin. He then smashed it to the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA pity, hm?\u201d chuckled the Master. \u201cBut there\u2019s something to be said about taking heads the old-fashioned way!\u201d He grabbed a foil and swung it, but the Penguin blocked with his concealed sword and the two dueled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on!\u201d called Batman as he grabbed the power converter. As the two villains dueled, everyone made their way to safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Gotham News explained that the duel between the Penguin and the Master ended in a stalemate, resulting in the Penguin being impeached as Mayor of Gotham and both him and the Master being transported to Arkham Asylum. Within the Batcave, the Doctor was altering the Quake Engine\u2019s power convertor. \u201cAnd there we go!\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cAll done!\u201d Alfred then entered the Batcave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI just received a call from Lucius Fox,\u201d he said with a smile. \u201cHe remembers Dr. King and his contributions to the continuing Civil Rights Movement. So do all those who temporarily forgot him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThank goodness for that,\u201d remarked Dr. King. \u201c\u2026That means my young self\u2019s time is up at least in this part of history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTrust me, it will take a major catastrophe to utterly erase you from history,\u201d chuckled the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet me just\u2026\u201d Dr. King\u2019s young self then closed his eyes and collapsed as his ghost left. Dr. King\u2019s ghost looked as he did seconds before his assassination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the face of a Civil Rights leader I know!\u201d remarked Winston. The Doctor then keyed in a command. The power convertor glowed, then it and the young Martin Luther King Jr. vanished while his ghost remained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd that, as they say, is that,\u201d sighed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a pity some Americans would rather forget about Dr. King,\u201d sighed Winston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs long as people still practice compassion,\u201d replied the Doctor, \u201cI don\u2019t see him fading away from history any time soon. Dr. King, I can\u2019t say when, but that dream where humans let freedom ring WILL come true. There WILL be a time where everyone can say \u2018Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, we\u2019re free at last\u2019!\u201d Dr. King smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s good to know, Doctor,\u201d he said. \u201cNow, I better get back to Coretta. See you all on the other side!\u201d His ghost faded away, but his memory remained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Well, with all that,\u201d said the Doctor, \u201cI think it\u2019s time I take Tysar home. This point is deep in her people\u2019s past, you know.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTysar, stay safe with the Doctor, hm?\u201d said Batman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs long as you keep Gotham safe,\u201d replied Tysar. She and the Doctor then entered the TARDIS and it dematerialized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, you understand what I\u2019m currently doing?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cI don\u2019t know if I can take you directly back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I don\u2019t think the direct way back will be necessary,\u201d replied Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou understand it\u2019s dangerous, yes? There\u2019s a temporal catastrophe going on and certain time-travelling races will capitalize on it. Especially the Daleks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe Thals may be pacifists, but we don\u2019t run from our problems. Not anymore.\u201d The Doctor smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
