\u201cYou\u2019re reconnected to Pathweb, yes?\u201d asked Davros. \u201cYou can look everything up now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI require outside information! Information that has not been uploaded to Pathweb!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd even though he\u2019s your creator,\u201d remarked the Doctor, \u201cDavros is just as much an outsider to you as I am and an outsider\u2019s views would give you ideas on how the rest of the universe sees the Time War.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCorrect!\u201d Davros bristled at the Bronze Dalek\u2019s confirmation of the Doctor\u2019s theory. \u201cNow\u2026tell me of the mutual defeat of the Daleks and the Time Lords! Tell me about the end of the Last Great Time War!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou already know most of it, but my friends don\u2019t, so I\u2019ll indulge,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cThe Daleks and my people, the Time Lords of Gallifrey, were at war with each other for the sake of time and space. In strictly linear terms, the war lasted for 400 years, but as the war involved time travel, it truly lasted through out eternity. Each side used time travel to try and undo the enemy\u2019s victories.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat created splinter timelines and parallel universes and temporal paradoxes throughout the conflict,\u201d continued Davros. \u201c\u2026But then, after my command ship flew into the jaws of the Nightmare Child, the Daleks destroyed the Time Lord city of Arcadia. That was when the entirety of the Dalek race summoned a mighty battlefleet to bombard Gallifrey and destroy it utterly! The Doctor, in her war incarnation, then tried to use a sentient superweapon that would destroy Gallifrey and the Dalek fleet alike!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut my previous and future incarnations at the time found a better alternative,\u201d continued the Doctor. \u201cWe used our respective TARDIS\u2019s to send Gallifrey into a pocket universe as the Dalek fleet bombarded the planet. It vanished to somewhere safer and the fleet destroyed itself in its own crossfire. Now, both Time Lords and Daleks alike are trying to rebuild, but with crises popping up and internal politics hampering the efforts\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Neither side is at a stage to continue the war!\u201d finished the Bronze Dalek. \u201cOr to even conduct a new war on that scale!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, thank goodness.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026That is all the information I require!\u201d The Bronze Dalek then moved off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I\u2019ll be seeing you later,\u201d said Davros as he left the cell block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Well, that\u2019s that,\u201d said the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo, now that we have the information you needed,\u201d remarked Coilzette, \u201cwhat now, Doctor?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe need to get to their main command center, start tampering a little,\u201d replied the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Erm, Doctor,\u201d said Calliope, \u201cI don\u2019t know how it\u2019s escaped your notice, but the cells have the technological equivalent of an impenetrable force field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEasy fix. Davros forgot rule one, something his original Kaled underlings had engrained in their training, even though they didn\u2019t realize it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s that?\u201d asked Ssylphiel. The Doctor then pulled out her sonic screwdriver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAlways empty the Doctor\u2019s pockets when you take her prisoner!\u201d declared the Doctor. She held the screwdriver near the force field emitter and switched it on. The screwdriver buzzed and the emitter sparked after a few seconds. The force field then shut down and the Doctor stepped out of her cell. \u201cJailbreak, anyone?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou have a technological version of a magic wand?\u201d asked Ssylphiel in amazement. The Doctor bridled at this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s sonic screwdriver to you!\u201d she snapped as she aimed the screwdriver at the force field emitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The few Daleks that stayed behind in the citadel were still patrolling the courtyard. \u201cNo life forms detected!\u201d a Dalek said to its de facto Section Leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMaintain vigilance!\u201d ordered the Section Leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExcuse me!\u201d called a woman\u2019s voice. All the Daleks turned their eyestalks in the general direction of the voice. It came from a rather dark corner of the courtyard. The Section Leader swiveled its dome to look directly at one of its subordinates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cInvestigate!\u201d it ordered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI obey!\u201d replied the Dalek. It trundled towards the dark corner and into the corridor surrounding the courtyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHi!\u201d called Tysar, attracting the Dalek\u2019s attention. \u201cI think you want to exterminate me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cALERT! ALERT! THAL PRESENCE DETECTED! EXTERMIN-!\u201d The Dalek didn\u2019t get very far in its warning as its eyestalk was whacked off by Bea\u2019s tail! \u201cMY VISION IS IMPARED! I CANNOT SEE! MY VISION IS IMPARED! ALERT! ALERT!\u201d It fired wildly as a blinded Dalek usually does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNOW!\u201d called Tysar as she, Shannon, Bea, and Lukas grabbed it. Tysar managed to get the gunstick out of the gun box and pointed it at the Dalek. \u201cBACK AWAY!\u201d Tysar warned her friends. They dove out of the way and Tysar fired at the Dalek\u2019s midsection, causing it to explode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDALEK UNIT DISABLED!\u201d called the Section Leader, having heard the noise. \u201cCRUSH ALL RESISTANCE! EXTERMINATE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith pleasure!\u201d replied Tysar as she fired on the Daleks, causing them to blow up. After the noise of the explosions died down, she and her friends entered the courtyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Are they really-?\u201d asked Lukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDead, yes,\u201d sighed Tysar. \u201c\u2026Come on, let\u2019s get three more gunsticks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHold on, you want to arm us with weapons of mass-?!\u201d protested Bea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNora can create ways for you to safely use them,\u201d replied Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHow do you know?\u201d asked Shannon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI don\u2019t. I\u2019m hoping.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTysar, guns are forbidden here,\u201d explained Lukas. \u201cAnd in my home of the Aquarinix Empire. They\u2019re too dangerous!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s true. Not even our soldiers use them,\u201d confirmed Shannon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026My people hate guns as much as you,\u201d sighed Tysar, \u201cbut against soulless creatures like the Daleks, we have no choice. It\u2019s a matter of survival. \u2026Look, we\u2019ll destroy these things when this is all done. I promise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and her group were at the command center of the stronghold. The Doctor was busy typing things out on the computer. \u201cLab, lab, lab, Davros must have a lab somewhere to put Egg\u2019s research to good use,\u201d she muttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor, can\u2019t we just blow up the stronghold?\u201d asked Ssylphiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Toymaker wants Davros sent back to our native universe,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cThat implies, at least to me, that he needs to be kept alive. Besides, I need to know what he\u2019s up to so I can properly tamper\u2026aha! That\u2019s it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDoctor?\u201d asked Calliope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSecurity feed of the lab Davros is using,\u201d explained the Doctor. \u201cNow we can learn what he\u2019s using Egg\u2019s research for.\u201d On the screen, Anacassandra and Davros were talking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019re certain this will work?\u201d asked Anacassandra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll the research the Veteran conducted,\u201d replied Davros, \u201cindicates that it WILL work!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Very well, but I still say it\u2019s ludicrous.\u201d By then, the Bronze Dalek entered the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy was I summoned?\u201d it barked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou, my child, are needed for a great experiment!\u201d replied Davros. \u201cTo properly utilize the full power of a Dalek\u2019s soul!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou removed them, Davros. Remember?\u201d scoffed the Doctor as everyone watched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExplain!\u201d directed the Bronze Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs your research indicated,\u201d said Davros, \u201cthe force known as magic is powered by the very soul of a magic user.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCorrect!\u201d confirmed the Bronze Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut we have used technology for so long that we do not tap into our soul,\u201d continued Davros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDaleks have no souls!\u201d barked the Bronze Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat is incorrect, my child,\u201d chuckled Davros. The Bronze Dalek twitched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome on, there\u2019s no way a Dalek has a soul,\u201d scoffed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou have proof that Daleks have souls?\u201d asked the Bronze Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s where I come in,\u201d replied Anacassandra. \u201cI have read deep into the hearts of every Dalek that I\u2019ve come across\u2026and you DO have souls.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat?!\u201d protested the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe\u2019s right,\u201d said Calliope. \u201cWhat she\u2019s carefully avoiding saying, however, is that a Dalek\u2019s soul is so twisted by hatred, much like her own soul and Davros\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026But if magic is powered by the soul-!\u201d gasped the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd magic used by a hate-filled soul is catastrophic enough,\u201d said Ssylphiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe casing is prepared!\u201d called a Dalek Scientist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cExcellent!\u201d praised Davros. \u201cVeteran, as you have the most intimate knowledge of how magic works, YOU shall inhabit the new casing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026You are creating a Dalek Mage!\u201d realized the Bronze Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo!\u201d protested the Doctor. \u201cIf the Daleks do that, they might just conquer all realities! We have to sabotage that casing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhere\u2019s the lab?!\u201d asked Coilzette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSTAY WHERE YOU ARE!\u201d shrieked a Dalek as three of them entered the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll right! All right!\u201d yelped the Doctor as she raised her hands. \u201cWe surrender!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPrisoners will come with us!\u201d ordered the lead Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhere?\u201d asked Ssylphiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDo not question!\u201d barked the lead Dalek. \u201cMove! MOVE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe obey!\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cCome along, you three. We don\u2019t exactly have much in the way of choice.\u201d Her friends grumbled as they raised their hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
