\u201cYou want to create an unstoppable army of magic-wielding Daleks!\u201d accused Ssylphiel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Doctor\u2019s question concerned the long run, not the short term,\u201d dismissed Davros. \u201cDoctor, you really should choose your friends a little more carefully. Perhaps use Sarah Jane Smith as the benchmark?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKeep her name out of your mouth, Davros!\u201d snarled the Doctor. \u201cAnacassandra, why are you helping that lunatic?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s where the money is, Doctor,\u201d replied Anacassandra. \u201cWhat matters to me is that the Great Chain of Being that everyone foolishly resists will be proven true once we accomplish our goals. I\u2019m a pacifist at heart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou and Davros are everything wrong with that Chain of Being nonsense made flesh!\u201d accused Coilzette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNo, Coilzette!\u201d snarled Davros. \u201cThere\u2019s someone worse, and that someone is content to let the universe fall to chaos and destruction!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s still you, Davros!\u201d insisted the Doctor. \u201cDo you really think that everything will be hunky-dory if the Daleks learn magic?! If those things can summon a fireball with a mere chant, who knows what kind of havoc they\u2019ll unleash!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRejoice, Doctor,\u201d replied Davros. \u201cYour questions will soon be answered.\u201d He turned to the Daleks. \u201cBring forth the casing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nora finally finished her work. \u201cThere, that\u2019s the last,\u201d she said as she handed the modified Dalek gunsticks to Shannon, Lukas, and Bea. \u201cBut I really must stress that I\u2019m not a Ryuginese weapons-smith. Guns are outside my field of expertise and these things-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWill be destroyed when this affair is over,\u201d promised Bea. \u201cI won\u2019t let them exist a second longer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRest assured,\u201d called Tysar when she entered the room, \u201call traces of Dalek influence will be destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTysar, what were you doing?\u201d asked Lukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI picked over what remained of the Daleks\u2019 computers,\u201d replied Tysar. \u201cI managed to locate where they took our friends.\u201d She pulled out a map and pointed to a jungle area between Serpentia and a beach acting as a land border to the Aquarinix Empire. \u201cRight there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s where we found Egg!\u201d gasped Shannon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDavros and Anacassandra must have set up shop there to properly track the Dalek\u2019s movements between Serpentia and Aquarinix,\u201d guessed Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThen we can conduct a raid?\u201d asked Nora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI was thinking about a combined sabotage and rescue operation,\u201d said Tysar. \u201cBut we need to be quick. We find our friends, help the Doctor in sabotaging the Daleks\u2019 plans, destroy anything Dalek-related (including these guns), and send Davros back to my native universe. All right?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I\u2019m in,\u201d said Shannon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s do this,\u201d agreed Bea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReady and waiting,\u201d said Lukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLet\u2019s tear the tin cans apart,\u201d decided Nora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Thank you. All of you,\u201d said Tysar proudly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and her friends were restrained to a wall as a new Dalek casing in bluish gray was brought into the room. This one had a cowl over the whole dome, even shielding the speech illuminators. It was armed with a multi-dexterous claw instead of a plunger. Each sensor sphere on the travel skirt had a rune on it. The gunstick was also more elaborate, looking less like a whisk and more like a bejeweled wand. \u201cDavros, you can\u2019t do this!\u201d pleaded the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019ve come too far now!\u201d replied Davros. \u201cI will see it through!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat is to be my new casing?\u201d asked the Bronze Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat is correct,\u201d confirmed Davros. \u201cUnseal your casing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2026obey!\u201d The Bronze Dalek opened its casing. A Dalek arrived. It was built with a scoop attachment on its manipulator arm and a tank with a liquid attached to its back with a hose running from the tank to the scoop. The new casing then opened up as everyone got a good look at the Dalek creature piloting the Bronze casing. It was a greenish brown cephalopod with an exposed brain and a single eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUgh! That\u2019s what a Dalek really looks like?!\u201d gagged Coilzette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPure evil made malignant flesh!\u201d hissed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe superior life form!\u201d argued the Dalek Supreme. It swiveled its eyestalk to the Dalek with the scoop attachment. \u201cRemove the Veteran from its old casing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI obey!\u201d The Dalek moved its scoop attachment to the Bronze Dalek creature. The creature slithered into the scoop. \u201cVeteran organism connected to temporary nutrient feed! Life signs stable for now! Placing organism into new casing!\u201d The Dalek moved the Bronze Dalek creature towards the new casing. The Bronze Dalek creature slithered into the new casing and settled in. \u201cVeteran organism now connected to new casing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSeal your new casing!\u201d Davros ordered the former Bronze Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I\u2026obey.\u201d As it spoke, its hidden dome lamps flashed bright violet. The former Bronze Dalek sealed its new casing. Upon the final latch on the casing being sealed, the camera eye flashed bright violet and its limbs and eyestalk raised upwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cReport on operational status!\u201d ordered the Dalek Supreme. The former Bronze Dalek looked around and tested its limbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Internal assessments,\u201d it reported, \u201cindicate 91% efficiency. Beginning simple magic usage test.\u201d The former Bronze Dalek opened its new claw\u2026and summoned a fireball. It then closed the claw, extinguishing the fireball! \u201c\u2026The positronic brain network wired into the new casing DOES facilitate proper magic usage!\u201d it reported. \u201cI\u2019m no longer just the Veteran! I\u2026am the DALEK SORCERER!\u201d Lightning flashed behind it, spooking other Daleks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Bit ostentatious!\u201d called the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Doctor and her friends are no longer required!\u201d barked the Dalek Supreme. \u201cEXTERMINATE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNO!\u201d called the newly rechristened Dalek Sorcerer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026No?\u201d asked Davros. \u201cShe was only needed to witness your rise! She\u2019s served her purpose!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt hasn\u2019t fully sunken in for her how badly she failed,\u201d replied the Dalek Sorcerer, now sounding more\u2026human-like, for lack of a better word. \u201cI want her alive so she can finally see how much we have risen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut the Doctor-!\u201d argued the Dalek Supreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRest assured, she will be properly restrained,\u201d soothed the Dalek Sorcerer. Davros opened his mouth to argue, then the alarms sounded. \u201cWhat is that?!\u201d demanded the Dalek Sorcerer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnauthorized Transmat in progress! Alert! Alert!\u201d reported a Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLocate source of the transmission! Locate! LOCATE!\u201d ordered the Dalek Supreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTriangulating!\u201d replied the Dalek. \u201c\u2026Source located! The Serpentian Capital Citadel! The end point is within the stronghold\u2019s command center!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPrevious communications,\u201d warned another Dalek, \u201cindicate that the Dalek Task Force there was utterly destroyed by a Thal and her friends!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTysar!\u201d whispered the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Doctor\u2019s companions are attempting a rescue!\u201d realized the Dalek Supreme. \u201cAlert Daleks in the command center! They must not reach the Doctor!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tysar and her friends shimmered into view. Shannon was the only one not carrying a gun as her magic laid more in the medical field. Everyone looked up when they heard the alarms. \u201cThey know we\u2019re here!\u201d warned Tysar. \u201cMove!\u201d The group approached a door\u2026just in time to run into Daleks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHALT! HALT!\u201d ordered a Dalek. \u201cEXTERMINATE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYOU BUGGERS FIRST!\u201d called Nora. She pulled out her forge hammer, swung it to the floor, and used her Dwarven magic to create cover for her and her friends. Those with the modified Dalek guns opened fire, tearing through Daleks that attempted to exterminate them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cALERT! ALERT! DALEK FIREPOWER BEING TURNED AGAINST US!\u201d warned the de facto Battle Commander. \u201cWITHDRAW! REGROUP!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMove aside!\u201d called a new Dalek\u2019s voice. The Dalek Sorcerer then arrived. \u201cLet me see what we\u2019re dealing with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026That\u2019s new,\u201d remarked Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOh, we\u2019ve met before,\u201d replied the Dalek Sorcerer. \u201cIf they weren\u2019t occupied, the Doctor and her companions would confirm that I\u2019m the Dalek you\u2019ve called Egg.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Why the new casing?\u201d asked Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe better to channel my new abilities, my dear\u2026Tysar, was it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTysar, if that\u2019s Egg, why isn\u2019t he talking like a Dalek?\u201d asked Lukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMust be a privilege that comes with the casing,\u201d remarked Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPrivilege, necessary curse, take your pick, my dear,\u201d remarked the Dalek Sorcerer. As they spoke, the Dalek Sorcerer used its claw to create a circle of red light! Bea and her friends backed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a magic circle!\u201d she explained. \u201cThat thing is using magic! Egg DOES have a soul!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s impossible!\u201d protested Tysar. \u201cDaleks are soulless monsters!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEvidently, we\u2019re not,\u201d purred the Dalek Sorcerer as several runes on its sensor spheres flashed and surrounded the magic circle. The Dalek Sorcerer then rapidly extended its claw through the circle, multiplying it and the surrounding runes by four and making all four copies sail towards the modified Dalek guns. \u2026All of a sudden, the modified Dalek guns burned their hands, making the group drop them! The Dalek Sorcerer then fired its gunstick on all four weapons, destroying them. \u201cVery clever, using our firepower against us,\u201d purred the Dalek Sorcerer. \u201cBut we Daleks are nothing if not adaptable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a laugh!\u201d scoffed Tysar. \u201cYou lot hate change! \u2026Come to think of it, you hate everything and everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPerhaps by your antiquated definitions, we do.\u201d The Dalek Sorcerer looked at a Drone Dalek. \u201cBring them into the cells. I want them to see how badly the Doctor failed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Dalek Supreme\u2019s orders were for their immediate extermination!\u201d argued the Drone Dalek. The Dalek Sorcerer slowly turned its eyestalk to the dissenter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Doctor\u2019s weakness is seeing her companions in danger at the moment of her failure,\u201d it said softly, the tone making the Drone Dalek back up. \u201cOnly when they\u2019re all in the same position as her will the Doctor\u2019s hope truly dies. Only then will the Doctor die. Bring the prisoners to the cells. That\u2026is an order!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
