Tysar looked regretful. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, Doctor,\u201d she said. \u201cI let my people\u2019s hatred of the Daleks cloud my judgement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t be silly, Tysar,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cYou actually gave me enough time to get the information I needed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYeah, but now there\u2019s a Dalek that can use magic!\u201d argued Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s quite a few flaws in the Daleks,\u201d remarked the Doctor. \u201cOne of them is their impatience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDoctor?\u201d asked Bea, overhearing the whole thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Daleks are trying to exterminate all non-Daleks as quickly and as painfully as possible,\u201d explained the Doctor. \u201cTheir plans require tight timetables.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut magic isn\u2019t something you learn in a day!\u201d argued Calliope. \u201cAny witch worth their salt will tell you that to hasten learning magic leads to disaster!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHence why Bea hasn\u2019t used as much magic as you, Coilzette, Shannon, Nora, or Ssylphiel in their daily lives,\u201d observed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cW-Well, yeah, but-,\u201d stammered Bea, feeling called out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Dalek Sorcerer doesn\u2019t have the experience you do,\u201d continued the Doctor. \u201cAnd they all forgot rule two of keeping their most dangerous prisoners locked up.\u201d She was looking at the force field emitters. Tysar looked up as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026Wait, are those things expo-?!\u201d Tysar face palmed. \u201c\u2026Don\u2019t expose your force field emitters when one of them is an engineer that knows what they\u2019re doing!\u201d she groaned. \u201cThat\u2019s basic!\u201d She got to work rewiring the emitters at her cell door. The Doctor did the same with hers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd they thought taking away my sonic screwdriver would hamper me!\u201d she chuckled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>In a central chamber, Davros and Anacassandra were meeting. \u201cDavros, so far, we\u2019ve been stuck here,\u201d hissed Anacassandra, \u201cdoing nothing! You promised that your Daleks would conquer Serpentia, yet it still stands!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou are impatient!\u201d retorted Davros. \u201cMy Daleks are dedicated to victory! To that end, we will wait!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy sister\u2019s dratted city has stood as a blight against our Divine Right for too long!\u201d insisted Anacassandra. \u201cWe must attack now! I\u2019ve had my slaves construct a war machine-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYour slaves didn\u2019t get the chance to build it,\u201d purred the Dalek Sorcerer as it glided into the room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026How do you know?\u201d asked Anacassandra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey were no longer necessary to Dalek plans,\u201d explained the Dalek Sorcerer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026You fool! I still needed a slave force!\u201d snarled Anacassandra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey were slow! Weak! You blunted their potential!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI TOOK THE STRONGEST OF ALL THE LESSER RACES AND GAVE THEM PURPOSE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou didn\u2019t dispose of them when you were done! Even gardeners cull the weakest of their plants!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI presume there\u2019s a reason why you\u2019re telling us this,\u201d grunted Davros, \u201cso get to the point.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would have thought the Chief Scientist of the Kaleds,\u201d taunted the Dalek Sorcerer, \u201cwould have enjoyed the chance to puzzle something out. \u2026Oh, very well. It is time to depart.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDepart?!\u201d argued Anacassandra. \u201cBut-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s still loose ends to tidy up!\u201d protested Davros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes, there are at least two,\u201d agreed the Dalek Sorcerer, \u201cbut they can be tidied up at the same time. Tell me, Anacassandra, when was the last time a member of the Divine Races had been killed?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe cannot be killed! We are superior in all-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSpare me the propaganda and stick to history, please. Even YOU learned that you Divine folk have a vulnerability, hence why you personally act the way you do.\u201d Anacassandra was taken aback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026It\u2019s not supposed to be propaganda!\u201d she hissed. \u201c\u2026But it was during the Ages of Chaos and War. It took an incredible amount of energy to kill one of us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA blade containing the energy of all 54 of your gods\u2026multiplied by 54,\u201d purred the Dalek Sorcerer. \u201cIt\u2019s considered a great effort to kill one that is supposed to the gods\u2019 living means of granting prayers. \u2026Not so for us!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d asked Anacassandra. 53 Daleks then arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhenever one of the Divine Folk was killed,\u201d remarked the Dalek Sorcerer, \u201cit sent a bright, destructive light across the area, did it not? It took ages for the resulting pollution of that light to fully fade away. \u2026Daleks blink in that kind of an explosion!\u201d It then created a magic circle and chose runes from its sensor spheres, then the circle and runes were copied until the resulting circles numbered 54. The circles then hovered in front of all the Daleks\u2019 gunsticks! Davros realized what was going on, but it was too late! The doors shut!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWAIT!\u201d he called. \u201cYOU CANNOT DO THIS! I AM STILL HERE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou survived a nuclear warhead before, Davros,\u201d purred the Dalek Sorcerer. \u201cPerhaps you\u2019ll survive another one! As for you, Anacassandra\u2026EXTERMINATE!\u201d All the Daleks screamed their battle cry and fired on Anacassandra. Anacassandra screamed in absolute agony as she glowed. The light enveloped the room and Davros screamed in agony as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The Doctor had freed everyone by the time the Daleks\u2019 betrayal unfolded. The instant the Daleks shot Anacassandra, Ssylphiel, Coilzette, and Bea collapsed, clutching their hearts like they were going through a heart attack! It passed quickly, but it woke them up! \u201c\u2026They couldn\u2019t have!\u201d realized Lukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLukas?\u201d asked Calliope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026They did!\u201d gasped Bea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCould someone fill their doctor in?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Daleks\u2026successfully killed\u2026Anacassandra!\u201d panted Coilzette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe only time\u2026the Divine Folk\u2026have a heart attack\u2026\u201d explained Ssylphiel as she leaned against the wall anc caught her breath, \u201c\u2026is when one of us is killed. No one\u2019s been able to kill any Divine Folk since the Ages of War and Chaos.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFrom what I heard,\u201d explained Lukas, \u201cthere was always a destructive light and a horrible aura that broke people down physically whenever one of the Divine Folk is killed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA destructive-?\u201d The Doctor\u2019s eyes widened. \u201cLukas, is there a mushroom shaped cloud that follows that light?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTh-That\u2019s what the legends said!\u201d replied Lukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA nuclear explosion!\u201d breathed Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou Divine folk are living atom bombs!\u201d yelped the Doctor. \u201cThis place has deadly levels of radiation!\u201d Just then, a communications terminal buzzed and the Dalek Sorcerer\u2019s voice came through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIs there a doctor in the house?\u201d it asked. The Doctor accepted the call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou used Anacassandra like an atomic bomb, didn\u2019t you?!\u201d she accused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGuilty as charged,\u201d replied the Dalek Sorcerer. \u201cRest assured, my fellow veteran, the radiation has been contained and the room which she was executed in has been fully decontaminated. But you may want to tend to your patient. He\u2019s not looking too well. \u2026At least, not by YOUR standards.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvacuation ship now fully occupied!\u201d reported the Dalek Saucer Commander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCoordinates for multiversal return established!\u201d called the Dalek Pilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEngage universal egress!\u201d ordered the Dalek Supreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cObjection!\u201d called a Drone Dalek. \u201cThe Doctor still lives!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Doctor will be delayed by her mission objective!\u201d replied the Dalek Supreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Doctor will return to our universe in pursuit of us!\u201d argued the Drone Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe won\u2019t get that chance,\u201d replied the Dalek Sorcerer as it glided onto the bridge. \u201cShe\u2019s too busy with her patient. By the time she searches for us, we\u2019ll be beyond her reach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Doctor is too devious!\u201d insisted the Drone Dalek. \u201cShe must be exterminated immediately!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDalek Sorcerer, destroy this dissenter!!\u201d ordered the Dalek Supreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI obey,\u201d replied the Dalek Sorcerer. One shot was all it took to destroy the Drone Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTakeoff within three rels!\u201d reported the Dalek Saucer Commander. \u201cAll Daleks at their stations!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEngage!\u201d ordered the Dalek Supreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The Doctor and her friends looked outside to see a Dalek ship lifting off. \u201c\u2026You know, I have to wonder why the saucer shape was deemed the best shape for a Dalek ship,\u201d remarked Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026Drat!\u201d groaned the Doctor. \u201cThey knew I had a mission to complete! I bet the Sorcerer is laughing up its metaphorical sleeves!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDoctor, there\u2019s no way the Daleks are telling the truth about Davros surviving a nuclear explosion,\u201d said Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAre these\u2026nuclear explosions really that dangerous?\u201d asked Calliope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDo you know about atoms?\u201d asked Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe things that make up all forms of matter?\u201d asked Bea. \u201cYeah, it\u2019s common knowledge here. Magic has to work with them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHas magic ever split an atom before?\u201d asked the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026No one\u2019s ever attempted it,\u201d replied Calliope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGood, because radiation sickness is nothing to joke about. I contracted it on my first visit to the Dalek homeworld of Skaro.\u201d They arrived at the room and saw nothing but a naga\u2019s skeleton\u2026and a ruined man. His skin was horribly burned, he had no legs, his eyes looked like blackened pits, he had no hair, his left arm ended in a stump, and his right hand was as burned as his body. All the Doctor needed to visualize was a blue camera in his forehead, a throat microphone implant, a metal brace over his skull, wires in his skull to operate the equipment, and a black Dalek skirt with silver sensor spheres with a back support and controls for the man to operate. \u201c\u2026Davros!\u201d she shuddered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDoctor, there\u2019s no way anyone can survive that kind of explosion!\u201d said Shannon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDavros did,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cAnd Daleks just blink at ground zero of a nuclear explosion.\u201d She checked the readings of the room. \u201c\u2026It\u2019s decontaminated. Come on!\u201d She opened the door with the sonic screwdriver she retrieved. Everyone entered the room and examined the carnage. Ssylphiel picked up the naga\u2019s skull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026She could have been so much better,\u201d she sighed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026Sh\u2026Shan\u2026\u201d came a voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDid you say something, Doctor?\u201d asked Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat was a man\u2019s voice,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cAnd I\u2019m not a man right now and that was too wounded to be Lukas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSh\u2026Shan!\u201d came the voice again. Everyone looked to the source of the voice\u2026and saw Davros reaching out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s not possible! He was at ground zero!\u201d protested Tysar. The Doctor looked up to see the abandoned Bronze Dalek casing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026Help me wire him up!\u201d directed the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhere is Shan?!\u201d strained Davros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2026Shan?\u201d asked the Doctor. \u201cIs that a Kaled woman\u2019s name? Davros, you\u2019re the only Kaled here!\u201d Davros was trying to say something else, but no words could be coherently formed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everyone was in the cells again.
