The Daleks were sending death squads onto Irk\u2019s surface. Irkens all over the planet tried to counter-attack, but the Daleks simply exterminated the Irken soldiers. All that was left was the command center. A few Martian soldiers died while trying to help the Irkens. Marvin was getting battlefield report after battlefield report. \u201cMy Queen, Irk is a lost cause!\u201d he said. \u201cWe have to retreat!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026I don\u2019t like that word, but we have no choice,\u201d muttered Tyr\u2019ahnee. \u201cThe Doctor said that Zim must survive. Find him and bring him aboard the ship. Order our forces to return to the ship. We are leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAt once, my Queen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Everything was crumbling around Zim. The Empire he once served and commanded with such zealotry was now dying around him. The screams of his soldiers and the constant casualty reports were now fading into a constant ringing noise in his head. Even the report of Gaz\u2019s extermination was now just background noise. \u201c\u2026My Tallest?\u201d he mumbled, now seeing visions of the two Tallest he once served. He then felt a hand grab his arm, snapping him out of his trance. \u201cWhat in-?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cZim, come on!\u201d called Marvin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnhand me! I have an empire to-!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cZim, we both know the Irken Empire is dead! Now come on!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019re not taller than me! Let go of-!\u201d Marvin rolled his eyes and slung Zim over his shoulder. \u201cPUT ME DOWN!\u201d demanded Zim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m sorry, but I\u2019m a slave to history,\u201d replied Marvin as he ran out with Zim. The Irkens couldn\u2019t believe it! Someone had kidnapped the Almighty Tallest! In the middle of a war!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Doctor and her group arrived at the TARDIS. Link wanted so desperately to swing his sword into the Daleks, but the Doctor advised against it. Ariel tried again. \u201cDoctor, please!\u201d begged the former mermaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou know I can\u2019t,\u201d sighed the Doctor. \u201cIrk is destined to die. There\u2019s nothing we can do about it. History is on track.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut Doctor, can\u2019t you save just someone?! It\u2019s not fair!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t you think I haven\u2019t thought about that?!\u201d snapped the Doctor, tired of the argument. \u201cMy own planet burned! My people were slaughtered twice over in my eyes! If I could go back in time and prevent it all, I would, but I can\u2019t! I just can\u2019t!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m not asking you to save every Irken! Just please!\u201d begged Ariel. \u201cJust save someone!\u201d The Doctor just stared at Ariel\u2026then a memory appeared in front of her. \u2026She was a man at the moment. The TARDIS console room was coral themed. There was a ginger woman. Sassy, headstrong, bit loud\u2026and she was begging the Doctor to save someone from\u2026from Pompeii during Mt. Vesuvius\u2019 eruption. \u2026Donna Noble, that was her name. \u2026Then the Doctor remembered Lobus Caecilius and his family. She remembered stretching out his hand. She remembered that\u2026history went on with barely a feather ruffled. \u2026She then recalled Sty, selflessly bringing the Doctor and her friends to the command center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201c\u2026Where is she?\u201d the Doctor muttered to herself. An Irken then passed by, gathering weapons. The Doctor grabbed the Irken. \u201cYou! Where\u2019s Invader Sty?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cB-By the command center\u2019s ruins!\u201d replied the Irken. \u201cBut-?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEveryone, in!\u201d the Doctor ordered her friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sty fired, doing what she could to push back the Daleks. All around her, the Daleks screamed their familiar battle cry of \u201cExterminate!\u201d Her gun\u2019s battery pack was then exhausted. More Daleks were coming. One of them fixed her with a stare. \u201cYou are Invader Sty!\u201d it barked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s right!\u201d replied Sty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou will be exterminated!\u201d continued the Dalek as it aimed its gunstick. \u2026Just then, a wind picked up and a noise filled the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAlert! Alert!\u201d warned a Dalek. \u201cTemporal disturbance detected!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is the Doctor!\u201d realized the first Dalek. The TARDIS then appeared between Sty and the Daleks with the doors facing the Irken. The doors opened and the Doctor reached out to Sty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCome with me,\u201d she directed. Sty looked all around\u2026then reached for the Doctor\u2019s hand!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll weapons primed and ready!\u201d reported the Dalek Helmsman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll Irken defenses destroyed!\u201d said the Saucer Commander. \u201cThe Irkens cannot act against us!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMartian ship leaving Irk!\u201d reported another Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPursuit of Martian ship is unnecessary!\u201d decided the Dalek Supreme. \u201cOrder evacuation of Irk!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI obey!\u201d replied the third Dalek. It passed along the orders to all Dalek Death Squads. \u201cAll Daleks returned to their ships!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFire weapons!\u201d ordered the Dalek Supreme as it shook in anticipation. \u201cDestroy Irk!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI obey!\u201d replied the Dalek Helmsman. \u201cFiring all weapons!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The World Smasher<\/em> class saucer deployed two massive laser cannons as the other saucers began their orbital bombardments. The flagship fired and fiery cracks appeared on Irk\u2019s surface. Just then, Irk exploded, taking all Irkens with it. The last remnant of the Irken Empire\u2026gone in just a few minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aboard the Martian ship, Zim saw the destruction and collapsed to his knees. All of it\u2026gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sty was feeling the same feelings as Zim when she saw what happened on the TARDIS monitor. \u201c\u2026My world,\u201d she mumbled. \u201c\u2026Destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026I\u2026I\u2019m sorry,\u201d said the Doctor, wondering if she made a mistake. She then glanced back. \u201cTysar, look after Sty, will you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYes, Doctor,\u201d replied Tysar. She sat next to the poor Irken as the Doctor worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Ariel,\u201d said the Doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHm?\u201d asked Ariel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026In all that chaos, I had almost forgotten why I took up my title. \u2026Like a companion before me, you held me to the mark. \u2026Thank you.\u201d Ariel smiled a small smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026I think I need to go back home,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ve got the coordinates set for you,\u201d said the Doctor. \u201cGoodbye, my dear.\u201d She flicked a switch and Ariel vanished while waving goodbye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026I think I\u2019ve seen enough,\u201d said Zelda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSame,\u201d agreed Link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWell, since you two were just seconds apart in your little vanishing acts,\u201d replied the Doctor, \u201cI can safely return you to the same time in Hyrule. Setting coordinates\u2026AHA! There!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI just hope this doesn\u2019t happen to me again,\u201d said Zelda. \u201cOnce was enough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTrue that,\u201d agreed the Doctor. \u201cFarewell!\u201d She flicked a switch and the two Hylians vanished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Back on the World Smasher<\/em> Saucer, the Dalek Supreme was in communication. \u201cDalek Supreme in former Irken Space to Emperor on Skaro!\u201d A Dalek with a gold sphere replacing the dome and neck section then appeared, the Emperor Dalek itself in its mobile casing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cReport!\u201d it commanded in a booming voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIrken Homeworld destroyed! World Smasher<\/em> class test run successful! Irken people now extinct!\u201d The Dalek Supreme was twitching in what passed for happiness for Daleks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat of Sty?\u201d asked the Emperor. The Dalek Supreme\u2019s twitching stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSty?\u201d it asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cReports coming in!\u201d reported the Dalek that originally objected to the Doctor\u2019s survival. \u201cThe Doctor appeared before Dalek units could exterminate Sty! She is now aboard the Doctor\u2019s TARDIS!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis failure is unacceptable!\u201d boomed the Emperor. \u201cWho ordered the Doctor to live?!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe order was given by the Dalek Supreme!\u201d replied the Dalek. \u201cThe survival of Sty has secured the Vanguard Resistance\u2019s beginnings!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCorrect!\u201d agreed the Emperor. \u201cEngage frequency 479! Apply to the Dalek Supreme! Tell it how it failed, then DESTROY IT!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI obey!\u201d The Dalek sent out a frequency that jammed the Dalek Supreme\u2019s gunstick. \u201cThe survival of Sty has caused considerable disruption of our war against the Vanguard Resistance!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis was a matter that was not told to me!\u201d insisted the Dalek Supreme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur orders were to exterminate all life on Irk!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Irken Genocide was a fixed point in history! THE DOCTOR COULD NOT INTERFERE!\u201d By now, the Dalek Supreme sounded panicked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTHE RESPONSIBILITY WAS YOURS!\u201d shrieked the Dalek ready to execute the Supreme. \u201cYOU HAVE FAILED! THE DALEKS DO NOT ACCEPT FAILURE!\u201d It opened fire and blew a hole into the Dalek Supreme, killing it. The Emperor watched the whole thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIdentify yourself!\u201d boomed the Emperor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDalek Two-Two-One-One-One-Nine-Six-Three!\u201d replied the Supreme\u2019s executioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDalek Two-Two-One-One-One-Nine-Six-Three, take command of the World Smasher<\/em>!\u201d ordered the Emperor. \u201cReturn to Skaro for your promotion to Dalek Supreme!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI obey!\u201d replied the Dalek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Back in the TARDIS, Sty sat in the console room as the Doctor worked to find Omega\u2019s next stop after Irk. Tysar came in. \u201cWell?\u201d asked Tysar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Earth,\u201d replied the Doctor. \u201cOmega went to a place called Monster Island. \u2026Looks like three chronal surges are centered there. \u2026Now, about Sty\u2026\u201d The Doctor headed over to the Irken. \u201c\u2026Sty, you\u2019ve been through a lot,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I know you had no choice but to come with us when you\u2019d rather be back with your own people-.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDoctor, my world was torn apart!\u201d replied Sty. \u201cMy people slaughtered!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI know,\u201d soothed the Doctor. \u201cAnd I see in your eyes that you want to help somehow. To do something. \u2026Sty, we can\u2019t go back and undo what the Daleks have done to the Irken Empire, but maybe, somehow, we can stop greater tyrants than them from ruining more worlds. \u2026Omega was on your world and was trying to cause chaos through the Grouping. If the Grouping isn\u2019t settled, then imagine what Omega will set his sights on next. \u2026You don\u2019t have to come with me though. \u2026That goes for you too, Tysar. Omega knows I\u2019m after him. I brought the fight to Omega, and I\u2019ll fight him alone if need be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou will not!\u201d protested Tysar. \u201cI have something to say to the man myself! And Doctor, I think Ariel is proof that your judgement is\u2026a bit flawed when you\u2019re alone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Ariel\u2026that was\u2026the red-headed woman, yes?\u201d asked Sty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYes,\u201d confirmed the Doctor. \u201cShe asked me to save someone even if I couldn\u2019t save the entire Irken race.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Then I\u2019d best make sure her pleas were not in vain,\u201d decided Sty. \u201cWe must pursue Omega!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201c\u2026Thank you.
